About WaterAid:
The climate crisis is a water crisis. Around the world, people are feeling the effects of climate change through water, including flooding, droughts, sea level rise, and irregular rainfall. Climate change is affecting seasonal and long-term water availability, meaning we can no longer rely on rain, river flows and aquifers.
The Resilient Water Accelerator is an initiative designed to increase the flow of private and public finance into water projects that help the most climate-vulnerable communities build resilience to climate change. Despite the high need, only 3% of total climate finance flows go towards water. Our mission is to demonstrate the business case for increased and enhanced public and private investment in water-related deals in emerging economies that strengthen resilience for climate-vulnerable communities and are replicable so that millions more can benefit. We are working to increase the speed, scale, and replicability of water investment by creating a pipeline of bankable projects, bringing together the right mix of financing with the right commercial structures and partners, and supporting improvements in the enabling environment.
About the Team:
We are a friendly, supportive, globally distributed team, bringing on-the-ground expertise and comprehensive perspectives, combining climate policy, water economics, private finance, measurement and evaluation, and governance. ShareAction is an independent charity and an expert on responsible investment. We work to build a world where the financial system serves our planet and its people. We set ambitious standards for how financial institutions, through their investment decisions, can protect our planet and its people and campaign for this approach to become the norm. We convene shareholders to collectively push companies to tackle the climate crisis, protect nature, improve workers’ rights and shape healthier societies. In the UK and EU, we advocate for financial regulation that has society’s best interests at its core.
Position
As part of the Financial Sector Standards Directorate, the Co-Head of Investor Engagement is responsible for leading ShareAction’s engagement with asset owners, asset managers and investment consultants. The role is key to establishing, sustaining and deepening constructive relationships with investment professionals at the heart of the financial system, challenging, encouraging and supporting them to raise their ambition on climate, nature, decent working conditions and people’s health. This is a new role that has been created from a restructure of the team that we hope will allow both parts to work more collaboratively.
In this role, you will be accountable for designing and leading ShareAction’s strategy to engage and influence major global institutional investors. You will help ShareAction work towards our vision by playing a leading role in shaping a dynamic new strategy for engaging pension funds to be active responsible stewards of pension savers’ capital, helping them to exercise positive influence over the wider investment system in the interests of the people whose assets they manage.

However, you each have distinct accountabilities within the strategy, and the Engagement Lead (this role) will have primary responsibility for team operations (budget, risk and plan management, as well as monitoring, evaluation and learning). The team comprises eight more junior colleagues, six of whom will sit in your reporting line, with three reporting directly to you. As a team Head, you will also be part of ShareAction’s Extended Leadership Team, which plays a key role in organisational leadership, strategy and decision-making.
You will also liaise closely with colleagues who lead our advocacy with policymakers, as well as those who lead our corporate campaigns, helping to coordinate their efforts to build coalitions of investors that drive change through collaborative engagements with specific companies and sectors. You will also oversee the secretariat function which ShareAction provides to two networks of mission-led investors (the Charities Responsible Investment Network and the Responsible Investment Network – Universities), supporting their ambitions to be at the leading edge of responsible investment practice.
ShareAction’s research, engagement and campaigns are highly respected within the investment industry. About Global Health 50/50
Global Health 50/50 (GH5050) provides rigorous data and insight in the pursuit of gender equality within global health and across other sectors, systems and frameworks. Established in 2017, GH5050 operates as an independent, evidence-driven initiative with charitable status registered in the UK. Our ethos revolves around the principles of human rights, particularly in relation to gender equality, and we are resolute in our commitment to effecting meaningful change.
At GH5050, we embrace an authoritative, analytical approach, underpinned by a genuine concern for social justice and equity. Our work transcends borders, drawing upon a wealth of data-led insights to inform policy, shape discourse, and drive tangible progress. As a trusted source of information and analysis, we serve as both catalyst and convener, fostering collaboration among diverse stakeholders to drive [KB1] reform.
While founded to monitor and act on inequalities and inequities in the global health sector, GH5050 is now embarking on an ambitious expansion into new sectors, including law and justice and finance and economics building upon our proven model of data-driven advocacy. By leveraging partnerships, particularly in diverse geographies, engaging stakeholders, and amplifying marginalized voices, we aim to make enduring contributions to the global pursuit of gender parity and social justice.
Context
Through our flagship report and Gender and Health Index, GH5050 provides the only birds-eye view of gender, inclusion and equality in the global health system today. The report assesses 200 organisations annually across a core set of variables on policies and practices to tackle power and privilege imbalances within the workplace, the gender and geography of organisational leadership, and whether gender is considered in any organisations' external-facing programmatic or policy work.
In addition to the annual report, GH5050 also produces a range of other evidence-informed outputs, including thematic reports relating to equality and diversity in the workplace (e.g. on gender pay gap), and policy briefs about strategies for organisational change.
GH5050 is expanding into new sectors beyond health and will increasingly support analysis at the country level.
