To plan, organise and facilitate volunteering sessions and community courses which may include weekend volunteering sessions, and corporate volunteer workdays.

To involve the diverse local community of Hackney and neighbouring boroughs in activities at St Mary’s Secret Garden with an emphasis on individuals and communities who may otherwise be excluded, particularly disabled and learning-disabled people, and people with mental ill health and long-term health conditions.

To use horticulture and other knowledge relating to growing and caring for plants, nature conservation, garden maintenance and landscaping to engage with people, encourage learning and promote health and wellbeing.

To promote the social, therapeutic and training aspects of horticulture to community groups, and individuals in the London Borough of Hackney and beyond.

To work flexibly and independently within our small team to support each other, to assist with the physical maintenance and general organisation of the St Mary’s Secret Garden ensuring that the garden is cared for, open and accessible to the wider local community.

To proactively develop SMSG as a resource for the local community, creating and facilitating new projects.

Job Purpose

You will secure ANT financially and drive forward innovative new commercial opportunities, helping to deliver on our goals to plant hundreds of thousands of trees and complementary habitats. Immediate commercial opportunities include natural capital sales, ethical investing, business model development for Landscape Recovery in the Lower Chew and development of ANT’s ecotourism trading arm.

As a fast-growing, high impact charity all of our roles have direct operational responsibilities in addition to managing teams and thinking strategically and with vision.

Main responsibilities
● Lead on ANT’s overall commercial development strategy to ensure long term financial viability and sustainability of the charity
● Pioneer the development and implementation of a new Commercial Trading Arm for ANT to support and accelerate ANT’s charitable impact
● Champion and drive forward new sources of income for ANT including natural capital development, ethical investments and ecotourism development
● Direct the development of business models and natural capital finance models and plans to support Landscape Recovery across thousands of acres of land in the Lower Chew

Richmond AID is seeking an energetic and enthusiastic person who will support our vision of putting Deaf and Disabled people at the centre of everything we do. We are looking for an experienced person who can develop and implement an engagement and co-production strategy. You will work closely with our other managers and play an integral role in the management team.

The role involves leading the delivery and development of our dynamic Community and Engagement team. This multidisciplinary team currently has 6 direct reports and services include: BuddyUp, Spade gardening service, Mental Health Peer Support service, Connect to Tech digital training, Campaigning and our wide range of peer group activities.  There is a variety of skills and experience which will require someone to We are looking for someone to not just manage these services, but to lead their development and widen our coverage across the borough of Richmond. This will predominantly involve supporting the people involved to be leaders of their own projects, developing/modernising our delivery model, ensuring projects meet targets and quality standards and when required also being involved in supporting direct service delivery.

You will have experience of managing a team covering a wide range of projects and interests. You will know what it takes to set up and manage a project and ensure it meets the intended outcomes.

You will be skilled in managing group dynamics and supporting your team to have boundaries with clients. You will also have experience of managing Safeguarding issues. Above all you must bring a positive, solution focused attitude.

Experience of campaigning work, with a track record of delivering innovative digital campaigns that have led to real change, would be an advantage.

About Richmond AID

Richmond AID offers 25 days annual leave plus eight bank holidays pro rata. Normal office hours are 9am to 5.15pm Monday to Thursday and 9am to 5pm on Fridays. We are recruiting a Finance and Operations Manager to lead on all aspects of financial planning, management and reporting to First Story, to support the processing of all day-to-day financial transactions, and to ensure that the finance function is carried out effectively and efficiently. The successful candidate will have experience of SORPs and will have both a strategic and operational 'hands on' approach. You will work closely with SLT colleagues to ensure that operations run effectively across the organisation.

The role would suit an experienced finance manager who is able to work both strategically and operationally across a small, distributed team with a central office in London. You will work closely with the CEO, reporting to the board on a quarterly basis.

As a key member of the senior leadership team, you will work closely with the Head of Programmes, Head of Development and CEO to deliver and monitor our ambitious strategy, Reach and Impact, effectively. The post holder will contribute to the strategic development of First Story over the next period, presenting to the board.

JOB DESCRIPTION FOR THE PART-TIME FINANCE MANAGER

Purpose of Role

To provide professional advice, information and reports to Trustees and the CEO on all aspects of the Union’s financial and operational performance to enable sustainability and future growth for the organisation. As a member of the Union’s management team, the post holder will provide finance and management reports and ensure all accounting and financial controls are performed in line with good accountancy practice.

Financial Management:

· To be responsible for the management of the Union’s financial affairs ensuring internal and external statutory and

regulatory obligations are met.

· To provide information, advice and guidance to the CEO and Trustees reporting on the ongoing financial viability of the Union and its activities as and when required including the compilation and coordination of budgets and forecasts.

· To ensure appropriate cash flow and investments for the organisation at all times, advising the CEO.

· To coordinate the management of the Unions finances, overseeing the accounting for income, expenditure, and assets, making recommendations for efficiencies and savings in order to obtain value for money.

· To safeguard all the assets of the Union by ensuring that control processes are in place to accurately record asset details in line with the Union’s financial procedures.

· To lead on the budget preparation process to compile, analyse and draft the organisation’s budget each year.

· To manage and develop robust financial systems to suit the organisation’s growing and changing needs under direction of the CEO.

· To ensure that all Union staff and Officers comply with the correct financial systems, procedures and controls and ensure that all statutory requirements are in place.

· To ensure effective processes are in place for assessing and managing business risk, including financial controls and insurance cover.

· To liaise with the University Finance department to submit regular management accounts, variance reports and invoices to access grant funding.

Financial Operations:

· To prepare and produce timely and accurate monthly management accounts.

· To plan and manage the Union’s tax liabilities under existing legislation and reconcile payroll and VAT payments.

· Responsibility for maintaining the Union’s Bank Mandate, ensuring that it is reviewed and amended annually.

· To oversee the processing of all journals.

· To provide support for Commercial Services areas calculating and analysing the cost of sales monthly, and trend analysis as and when required.

· Prepare for annual external audit by completing year end file with all reports required.

· To develop and implement action plans from external audit.

· To oversee accruals, prepayments, stock and depreciation monthly and post journals.

· To prepare for and attend management account meetings with the CEO and the Trustee Board Finance and Audit and Risk sub-committee meetings when requested.

· To produce reports on balance sheet reviews, and twice-yearly reforecast reports.

· Responsible for maintaining the Fixed Asset register, and review of capital investment.

· Manage the Union’s Cash Flow and prepare Cash flow forecasts as necessary.

· Monitor Balance Sheet control accounts ensuring reconciled.

· Overseeing good standards of credit control to ensure that the organisation is distributing monthly statements and debt chasing letters and where necessary instigating legal action for the recovery of funds.

· To analyse VAT transactions and produce the VAT return quarterly

· To submit the annual report and approved accounts to the Charity Commission and other bodies as appropriate and within deadline.

· To ensure the accurate accounting and authorisation of the Clubs and Societies monies and ensure that all expenditure is spent according to Union guidelines.

Staff Management:

· To ensure the smooth running of the Finance Office by overseeing the line management of the finance team.

· To ensure that the finance team produce all data accurately, on time and in the appropriate format adhering to the strict deadlines for both internal & external set tasks.

· To promote a positive working environment and a motivated finance team.

· To provide leadership, direction and coaching for finance team and to set an example of being results focused and aiming for excellence.

· To complete Personal Development Reviews with each member of the finance team.

· To manage, develop and train the finance team in accordance with the Union HR procedures, to ensure that they are meeting or exceeding agreed targets relating to performance, quality of service and standards and taking appropriate action if these targets are not met.

Key responsibilities include:

• The Administrator to the CEO is to provide efficient and effective support, managing accurately the diary, travel and internal and external meeting arrangements as well as professional and confidential business administration for the CEO.

Role Purpose:

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced finance and operations leader to join the senior management team of Access – The Foundation for Social Investment at a critical stage of our work. With a refreshed strategy, expanded team and extended life we are looking for someone to continue to lead our efficient finance and treasury function, as well as lead a range of enhancements to respond to the growth of the organisation across operations, HR, IT and Governance support.

About Access – The Foundation for Social Investment

We want to see a social investment ecosystem that works for all charities and social enterprises and through our programmes and our advocacy work, we ensure that charities and social enterprises can access the finance they need to sustain or grow their impact.

We target those most in need of patient and flexible investment through:

• Funding enterprise development and blended finance programmes in England.
• Sharing knowledge and data and translating it into practical insight that others can use.
• Mobilising others who share our goal of making capital work for communities.

Since 2015 Access has been tasked with distributing over £160m from the Dormant Assets scheme, Government and the National Lottery Community Fund. As a wholesaler we work with several dozen partners to deliver programmes around England, including social investment funds, social enterprise support organisations, network organisations, and grant management bodies. We expect to make grants of over £30m this year.

We are a relatively small team of 13.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Strategic Vision:

• As part of the four strong senior leadership team (which also includes the CEO, Director of Partnerships and Advocacy and Director of Programmes), contribute to the overall direction and strategy of Access, and deliver on relevant areas of the organisation’s operational plan.
• Lead in the strategic planning and successful delivery of Access’s financial and operational management functions.
• Lead on projects to drive forward the internal aspects of Access’s equity, diversity and inclusion strategy.
• Represent Access at various events, promoting our influencing and advocacy aims.

Finance:

• Responsible for the financial planning of the organisation, including the development of annual budgets and long-term forecasts. Work with budget holders across the organisation to ensure the ongoing adherence and management to these budgets/forecasts across all programmes.
• Oversee financial systems that record and report on financial activities and provide information and projections to allow strategic and operational decision -making.
• Working with the Head of Finance to oversee payment, invoicing, bookkeeping and banking activities, maintaining up to date computerised records and maximising use of the accounting system (Twinfield).
• Oversee the relationship with Access’ external and group auditors and support the Head of Finance with the year-end process, external audit, preparation of annual financial statements and sign-off from relevant stakeholders.

Treasury Management:

• Manage the relationship with Access’ asset manager and ensure the endowment investment policy/strategy is being implemented, including in particular, adherence to Access’s stated impact goals for the endowment,
• Ensure high quality reporting on the performance of the portfolio from the asset manager.
• Oversee Access’s multiple banking relationships and the performance of our extensive cash deposits to balance the requirements of return, impact and liquidity.
• Support the advocacy and communication of the “total impact approach” taken by Access, sharing learning and influencing others in the development of their investment strategies.

Governance:

• Take overall responsibility for the Governance support processes and cycles at Access, including plans for regular business at board and committee meetings, members’ terms of office and recruitment of trustees and committee members.
• Ensure Access complies with statutory and legal requirements, including returns to Companies House and the Charity Commission.
• Oversee the management of up-to-date registers of interest for all board and committee members and senior staff.
• Provide advice to the Board and CEO of any legal responsibilities prevailing upon the organisation.
• Co-ordinate the agenda and content for the Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee (ARCC), and the Endowment Investment Committee (EIC), and contribute to meetings as appropriate.
• Support the CEO and Chair in reporting to Access’s sole corporate member, the Oversight Trust, and providing assurance that Access remains in compliance with our Governance Agreement.
• Working closely with senior colleagues, oversee and manage the establishment of the risk appetite and risk management framework for regular review by the ARCC and board.
• Ensure appropriate and up to date policies are in place across all areas of Access’s operations, reflecting legal requirements as well as best practice, and that these are clearly communicated and are being adhered to.

HR & Supporting Team Development:

• Lead on the development and implementation of HR policies and processes including ED&I, recruitment, annual salary reviews, and individual performance and development plans.
• In collaboration with line managers, ensure that appropriate training and development opportunities are in place to ensure all team members are given the best opportunity to succeed in their roles.
• Oversee relationships with key outsourced service providers including payroll, pensions, benefits etc.
• Leadership of the three strong finance team including line management of the Head of Finance and support to Business Support Officer.

Operations & Programme Support:

• Ensure Access’s IT infrastructure and systems are effective, including managing the relationship with Access’s IT provider.
• Oversee the management of IT Risk, Business Continuity Planning and the maintenance of IT security.
• Manage the relationship with Access’s landlord (Better Society Capital, from whom we sub-let office space).
• Oversee key financial reporting requirements, including those as specified in the contracts with the Department for Culture, Media and Sport and National Lottery Community Fund, as well as to the Board and relevant committees.

Person Specification:

Essential skills and key personal attributes include:

• Extensive knowledge of accounting principles and systems with relevant accounting qualification (ACCA, ACA).
• Knowledge of statutory and legal requirements, ideally relating to a charitable organisation.
• Substantial experience of working at a similar level, demonstrating involvement in setting direction, policy, processes and controls and in providing professional expertise, advice, and guidance.
• Substantial experience of effectively supporting and working with boards and governance committees.
• Demonstrable experience of leading change and the successful development and implementation of systems and processes across different organisational functions.
• Experience of managing across a range of functions/discipline.
• Able to balance the strategic and operational aspects of the role and to easily switch between them when required.

The role is based in Access’s offices in Central London and with some dedicated time together as a team each week (currently Tuesdays). Role and Responsibilities

We are looking to recruit a law graduate (1-3 years post-graduation) with experience in environmental law, economic justice and/or international development to join our small but dynamic team. Depending on experience, the role will support our programmes challenging economic injustice caused by environmental damage, biodiversity loss, deforestation, illegal resource trafficking, climate change and conflicts over natural resources; promoting transparency and accountability in public and private institutions to encourage responsibility and minimise the impacts of corruption; and promoting fairer and more effective economic and fiscal policy tools to help states meet development goals and enhance the rule of law. A more detailed explanation of our work is set out in our 2024-2026 Strategy.

Working as part of a small, busy team, you will have the opportunity to learn at very close hand what it means to work for an international NGO focusing on achieving environmental and economic justice. You will develop projects with a range of partners, including international agencies, NGOs and CSOs, and governments and government bodies. You will collaborate with a range of volunteer lawyers (law firms and barristers chambers) who are leading experts in their field. The role will also involve project management, assistance with fundraising, fulfilling compliance obligations, and evaluating and learning from projects.

Key Competencies:
• Relevant experience and knowledge (either from previous work experience or study) relating to environmental law and policy and/or economic justice in an international development context;
• A law graduate with a good understanding of how law is useful to achieving reform on the above;
• Demonstrable understanding (either from previous work experience or study) of key issues in sustainable international development, including the UN Sustainable Development Goals;
• Experience in developing countries and transitional economies;
• Ability to develop and manage relationships with a range of stakeholders, including donors, NGOs, civil society organisations and government representatives, on an international basis;
• Familiarity with, or understanding and enthusiasm for the concept and practice of, pro bono legal assistance;
• Demonstrable project management skills and experience, including administration and coordination;
• Ability to work on a wide range of tasks simultaneously;

Key Responsibilities:
1. Work closely with the Senior Legal Managers and/or Legal Manager to deliver and implement the programme strategy, in conjunction with the Executive Director, partners, staff and Board;
2. Assist in developing an understanding of the most effective policy tools and legal interventions to deliver the programme objectives, through engagement with volunteer lawyers, ILP partners, staff, Board and others;
3. Support the building and maintenance of ILP’s programme(s). This includes:
• Liaising with partners to identify legal/policy needs and offer potential legal and/or policy reform solutions, including through conducting legal analysis;
• Assisting the programme lead(s) to build a pipeline of relevant projects and cases, including through engaging in outreach to potential pro bono partners;

MAIN DUTIES

The Services Coordinator is responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE:

This is an exciting role for an experienced campaigner (5-7+ years) to lead the design, development and delivery of a new campaign exposing the food security, environmental, climate, health and human right abuses and global injustice issues linked to the production and use of synthetic fertilisers.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Working closely with the Director of Campaigns, the Executive Director and other senior colleagues, lead the design and development of Feedback’s new campaign on industrial, fossil-fuel based agriculture reliant on synthetic fertilisers, formulating robust and striking policy positions and campaign asks that will result in socially equitable outcomes. During your first three months at Feedback you will:

a. Create an internal knowledge base on key aspects of fertiliser production and use based on a comprehensive review of the relevant technical and scientific literature;

b. Conduct supply chain mapping and scoping on corporate structures, ownership and market dynamics;

c. Build a network of allies supportive of our core objectives;

d. Build understanding of the interface between the livestock and fertiliser agendas.

2. Project manage implementation of Feedback’s fossil agriculture/ synthetic fertiliser campaign, which we currently plan to launch at COP29 in Azerbaijan;

3. Undertake research and analysis and produce high quality written campaign materials including reports, briefings, factsheets and open letters;

4. Produce written content for Feedback’s social media channels (e.g. blogs, posts);

5. Monitor key market and political/regulatory developments;

6. Build strategic relationships with journalists and represent Feedback in the media;

7. Engage at senior level with corporate executives and institutional representatives;

8. Represent Feedback at external meetings and conferences to engage and influence decision makers;

9. Participate in civil society coalitions and build a strong and effective network of like-minded organisations supportive of our work;
