Experience:

Background to the Role

Do you have helpline or call centre experience?  Are you good at communicating on the telephone?  Do you enjoy helping people to find information and solutions to challenges?  Are you approachable and a good communicator? We need you to join our high volume, friendly helpline team of staff and volunteers, answering calls and providing information and support to older people in Croydon.

Our helpline is a first point of contact for many older people and their families and carers as they tackle a variety of issues around finance, social engagement, housing and council tax, travel concessions such as Blue Badge and Taxi card.  You will play a crucial role in answering our busy Information & Advice Helpline phone: listening carefully and sympathetically to callers, finding solutions to their queries or issues and. The role is varied and very rewarding, and no two days are the same.

• Providing information and signposting to callers to our Helpline and to people enquiring by email
• Entering new client referrals on our database and recording each new enquiry on our systems

This role will play a key role in delivering our ambitious policy influencing programme, helping to develop and advocate for the policy changes needed to reduce, prevent and eventually end the need for food banks in the UK. It will focus on developing Trussell policy positions in either employment support (especially for people with barriers to work) or disability and sickness benefits. What will I be doing?

• Supporting the development of a prospect pipelines of opportunities and identifying and cultivating leads.

• Building strong working relationships with other divisional team members

• Work with divisionally based and other CRUK staff to maximise supporter activity with a focus on those that will help support national and divisional strategies

• Hitting fundraising targets for CRUK's life saving research.

*This is a home-based role with significant travel across the patch to maximise community engagement. On average this would be 60 percent out in the field (travelling around your patch meeting supporters) and 40 percent home based. However, this is subject to change based on business need. There will be some evening working required to attend committee meetings however you will get this time back via our time off in lieu policy

What skills will I need?

Women and Girls Network (WGN) was established in 1987 and has spent over 30 years supporting women and girls across London affected by gendered violence. About the role

We are excited to be advertising this newly created role as part of WGN’s growth. This role will be the lead on the finance function. Reporting into the Director of Finance and Resources, the role works closely with stakeholders across the organisation including executive leadership, with a specific focus on working closely with the Director and external auditors. The role will have two direct reports – Finance Business Partner and Senior Finance Officer. This is a hands-on role and will have full responsibility for the finance function on a day to day and medium-term basis. The Financial Controller is to lead on all financial systems set up and upgrades.

Although the organisation is well established, this is a growing sector, and the organisation has gone through rapid change over the past few years and is therefore offering the right candidate a great opportunity to deliver change and make a real difference to WGN’s staff and clients. 

Role Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the management and development of the Finance Business Partner and Senior Finance Officer.
• Preparing the year-end statutory accounts and liaising with external auditors.

The ideal candidate will:

• Have experience in working with the charity sector in a similar role for at least two years.
• Work well with non-finance colleagues and trustees in delivering key financial reports in an easy-to-understand manner.
• Be a qualified accountant.
• Be comfortable working in a hands-on environment

Willow House - Central Lancashire Crisis Service is a mental health recovery house in Coppull. We are working to a recovery model, and are accessed by referral as either hospital preventions, step down, respite and crisis point support. About the team

The Health Information team work to inform and engage the public with information on cancer prevention, early diagnosis and screening. We do this using evidence and look for opportunities to reach those who need it most. We use our knowledge and communications expertise to guide and shape activity across the charity including policy, partnerships and fundraising.

What will I be doing?

• Oversee the provision of high quality, accessible and evidence-based health information including maintaining a good understanding of best practice

• Provide strategic direction for CRUK's health information priority topics to maximise impact across public facing channels including but not limited to health marketing, communications and partnerships

• Act as a senior subject matter expert on health information and use of evidence, advising senior internal and external stakeholders (Executive Board, other charities, researchers)

• Act as a senior media spokesperson and provide expert sign-off for health information content used in a range of external channels (including press and policy influencing)

What skills are we looking for?
