The Director of Development (Maternity Cover) is a senior position at the Marlowe Theatre, leading the organisation’s fundraising. 

This 12-month maternity cover position provides an opportunity to lead a high performing department, develop skills and expertise and play your part in supporting the work of one of the country’s most successful regional theatres. 

You will be working from a solid footing, leading the team to build on existing partnerships and developing a pipeline of new opportunities. We are looking for a strong relationship builder who can work across both revenue and capital fundraising ambitions. Our revenue programme is strong with increasing support from individuals and opportunity to grow our business support along with our Trusts and Foundations work. With initial support already in place from the National Lottery Heritage Fund for our capital programme, you will be working with a strong team and a growing capital campaign board.

Key accountabilities:

Alumni Programme Research & Development:

- To assist with the identification of and engagement with the wider alumni community

- To implement a range of activities to engage with Rank’s alumni community;

- To design, plan and deliver Fellowship events, webinars, and other programmes that promote networking and professional development opportunities among Fellows/alumni;

- To create and develop relationships with the Fellows/alumni to increase involvement in the Foundation’s activities;

- To administer the mentoring programme connecting older Fellows with younger ones at the beginning of their professional careers;

- To liaise with the Comms team to raise the social media profile of the Rank Fellowship Alumni Network;

- To serve as the primary point of contact for alumni inquiries, communications, and requests;

- To be the secretariat for the Fellows Leadership Team, drafting agendas, minute taking, and following up on actions

- To design, plan and deliver School Leadership events with support from the Finance & Operations Officer

Data & Reporting:

- Manage the Fellowship database, ensuring it is kept up to date

- Send out digital surveys, monitor and track key deliverables;

- Collect achievements and contributions from Fellows to showcase impact;

- Collate and prepare reports based on survey outcomes to assess the effectiveness of the programme.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to developing Refuge’s learning and development programme.

The successful candidate will work with the People Development team to support the roll out of our annual training calendar, developing internal communications to advertise our training catalogue, reporting and ongoing evaluation of our training. With a strong customer focus, you will act as the key point of contact for our staff and our training partners. Key Responsibilities: 

• Develop strong working relationships with key stakeholders and work in partnership with other teams providing data and analysis relevant to the business strategy.
• Use data from various data sources to understand historic trends and use this information to create financial models and presentations to inform budget decisions.
• Create income and cost Key Performance Indicators and research other organisations to measure performance.
• Provide timely and accurate monthly management accounts including income and  expenditure, balance sheet reconciliations and Key Performance Indicators.

• Prepare monthly rolling forecasts of income and expenditure, working closely with other members of the Team.
• Undertake monthly reviews with budget holders to review income and direct costs and feedback to key stakeholders where necessary.
• Lead and line manage direct report effectively, with due regard to performance management, development, coaching, guidance, training, recruitment and retention.
• With direct report, build in routine one to one supervision meetings to provide an infrastructure of information flow and support.

Who are we looking for?

• A formally qualified accountant 
• Relevant and appropriate experience in finance and management accounting obtained in a complex organisation
• Experience in budgeting and forecasting in a complex organisation 
• An excellent communicator who is able to influence at all levels within the organisation

Reporting to the Head of Talent and Leadership Development, we are looking for a customer-focused, organised, forward thinking and creative Programme Manager to join us and drive our mission of cross-sector collaboration.

You will be responsible for managing the Charity Next Secondment Programme ( a collaborative partnership between the Civil Service Fast Stream and Charities, Not for Profit's and Academia) working collaboratively to maximise secondment engagement between the sectors. You will also manage inwards secondments to member organisations as well as working on and developing new concepts, programmes and solutions to maximise porosity and knowledge sharing. You will work closely with other departments and the wider team to develop and increase both the volume and impact of secondment initiatives. You will do this by leveraging your data-driven and research approach as well as evidencing your strong relationship and stakeholder development skills.

What we’re looking for: 

• Prior experience as a programme manager, project manager or similar, client-facing role with a demonstrable track record of excellent customer service. 
• Prior experience in internal and external stakeholder management and proven ability to build rapport and liaise with senior stakeholders. 
• Demonstrable experience in delivering successful and effective business development strategies - with strong outcomes. 
• A successful track record of using CRM systems (a plus if it's Dynamics!), Microsoft Forms, and other software applications to help aid decision making, keep on track of KPIs and to ensure strong project management and outcomes. 
• Demonstrable aptitude in managing administration and processes including the signing of secondment agreements, onboarding meetings, feedback cycles and regular communication strategies.
• Demonstrable history of meeting deadlines and the ability to oversee several different projects simultaneously. 
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with a successful track record of building rapport and liaising with senior stakeholders. 
• Exceptional organisational skills and impeccable attention to detail. 
• Whilst not mandatory, it would be a huge plus if you displayed an interest in current affairs, contributing to a well-rounded and informed professional perspective. 
• Prior experience of working to budgets, KPIs and forecasted elements of work. 
• Strong teamwork - picking up other elements of work as required from the Talent & Leadership team as well as other interdepartmental bodies. 
• A strong self-driven attitude and results orientated attitude - having a positive outlook and a clear focus on high quality output, ability to solve problems and work calmly under pressure. 
• Prior experience of operating in the leadership, talent experience would be desirable but is not essential.

What do some of the main role responsibilities look like?

Veterans Outreach Support (VOS) is an award-winning charity that offers welfare, wellbeing and mental health support and services to veterans of the UK Armed Forces and Merchant Navy in Portsmouth, Hampshire, and the Isle of Wight. They provide a Drop-In model of support, a welfare advice service, a range of peer-supported wellbeing activities and social groups, and access to psychology, psychiatry, and therapy services.

VOS has secured additional funding from the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust to continue the work of the Thrive Together programme (formerly VPPP) in the South East, which is designed to bring together a network of veterans’ support agencies that will take an informed approach across the South East region to ensure that there are connected pathways, which work well for veterans; that there are safe places for veterans to go, which connect into these pathways; and that volunteers and staff who support veterans have access to training and work closely with other organisations within veterans’ mental health pathways.

The Network and Partnership Development Manager will work with the Thrive Together Portfolio Manager and manage the Thrive Together regional ‘cluster’ Partners in defined geographical regions to identify and build a meaningful network of organisations delivering support to veterans, their families and carers. The Network and Partnership Development Manager will act as deputy Thrive Together Portfolio Manager as and when required.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

• Experience of building and maintaining positive relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, partners, local groups and networks, with the ability to lead and motivate participation.
• Experience in planning, executing and overseeing events and joint projects from inception, including managing timelines and budgets, evaluating activity, and measuring outcomes and impact.

The opportunity

We are seeking a skilled, experienced, and driven Finance Manager to join our dynamic team. Reporting to the CEO, you will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the company, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and providing strategic financial guidance to support the company’s growth and development. You will review our financial procedures and processes and where appropriate recommend and implement change and improvements. You will lead our two-person finance team, part of core services, which provides HR, IT, facilities, and marketing support for the company.

What you will be doing

• Delivery of accurate and timely financial information for the company including preparation of monthly reports as required.
• Support the CEO and Executive on strategic development through the provision of performance insights on financial and delivery metrics and management accounts, liaising with external accountants, as appropriate.
• Provide reports to the Directors, Executive and other senior staff analysing company performance including project financial performance.
• Prepare for and oversee the Company’s annual independent financial accounts audit.
• Oversee insurance policies liaising with brokers and other third parties, as necessary.
• Monthly financial reconciliation of QuickBooks and CMap and production of reports.
• Working with and supporting HR as appropriate on payroll, pensions, holidays, and time records.
• Support the company to continually improve our IMS systems and B Corp accreditation through the provision of efficient financial project management systems and reporting.
• Line management of the Finance Officer.

The essentials

• AAT / ACA / ACCA or CIMA qualified, or proven experience in a similar role.
• Proficient in using QuickBooks.
• Clear and concise communication style, with the ability to build productive professional relationships across all roles.
• A trustworthy problem solver with a positive, can-do attitude.
• Experience in:
  • Team and line management, to include coaching and development of direct report.
  • Payroll including HMRC management of payrolled benefits.
  • Sales and purchase ledger management.
  • VAT quarterly and PAYE monthly and annual returns and reports.

  • Annual budget (payroll and overheads) preparation and monitoring.
  • Financial management best practice and project performance KPIs.

  • Preparation for annual insurance cover and management of polices in liaison with insurance broker.

Deaf Unity is a deaf-led charity empowering deaf people. Job Summary 

The Training and Services Manager is responsible for the comprehensive administration, management and promotion of Deaf Unity’s British Sign Language (BSL) training, interpreting services, Deaf Awareness, and other related training courses. This role includes managing course logistics and the freelance team delivering training, monitoring email communications, promoting services, liaising with students, clients and teachers, maintaining the CRM system, handling invoicing, capturing feedback, and managing evaluations. The ideal candidate will be organised, communicative, and committed to providing exceptional service to our clients and students while meeting sales targets. 

Location: London – initially fully remote with some ad hoc site visits. Potential for future hybrid role. 

Reports to: CEO 

Line management responsibilities: freelance BSL teachers and trainers, and freelance communication support team 

Job Type: 35 hours per week, salary £30k-£35k 

Key Responsibilities 

1. Service Management and Administration: 

• Oversee the administration of all services such as BSL courses, interpreting services, Deaf Awareness, and other related training courses. 

• Schedule and coordinate external training sessions and courses, ensuring all logistical details are managed effectively. 

• Monitor and respond to emails in designated inboxes related to training and services. 

• Manage freelance trainers and teachers to ensure the smooth delivery of all courses. 

• Manage freelance interpreters and CSWs to ensure the smooth delivery of communication support services. 

• Ensure compliance with Deaf Unity’s policies and procedures (e.g. finance, safeguarding, health and safety, EDI) in every aspect of service delivery 

2. Promotion of Courses and Services: 

• Develop and implement strategies to promote training, courses and interpreting services to potential clients and students. 

• Conduct outreach and build relationships with organisations, businesses, and individuals to increase course enrolment, and training opportunities. 

• Utilise various marketing channels, including social media, email campaigns, and partnerships, to promote courses. 

• Meet or exceed sales targets for course enrolments and sales of training programmes. 

3. Client, Student, and Teacher Support: 

• Act as the primary point of contact for students, clients, and teachers, providing exceptional customer service and support. 

• Assist with course registration, answer queries, and provide detailed information about training programs. 

• Maintain strong relationships with existing clients, students, and teachers, ensuring their needs are met and expectations exceeded. 

4. CRM and Invoicing: 

• Keep the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system up to date with accurate and relevant information. 

• Generate and manage invoices for BSL and training courses. 

• Track payments and follow up on outstanding invoices to ensure timely payment. 

5. Feedback and Evaluation: 

• Capture feedback from students, clients, and teachers through surveys, or other appropriate methods. 

• Analyse feedback to identify areas for improvement and implement changes to enhance course quality and delivery. 

• Prepare and present evaluation reports to senior management, highlighting key findings and recommendations. 

Qualifications and Skills 

Essential 

• Strong organisational and multitasking skills with a keen attention to detail. 

• Experience of managing staff/a small team 

• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. 

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 

• Proven track record of meeting sales targets and promoting services. 

• If no existing BSL skills, an interest and commitment to learning BSL is required (free training provided). 

Desirable 

• Knowledge of BSL (ideally Level 2/3 or above – ongoing BSL training provided for free up to and including Level 3). 

• Proficiency in using CRM systems and other administrative software. 

• Experience in business outreach and building business relationships and partnerships.

About the role:

Job description:

The Fundraising and Development Manager will be a member of the leadership team, implementing the fundraising strategy by working closely with the Executive Director,  alongside colleagues across the organisation and external consultants.

You’ll bring a passion for what we do, and the importance of independent journalism – and the contribution it makes to protecting everyone’s human rights. 

We are looking for someone with experience in leading donor relations, with confidence and a strategic approach to high-value fundraising. This role will deepen RPT’s understanding of our supporter base, build on existing and new donor networks and produce impactful reports to donors including foundations and trusts, so they understand RPT’s impact and commit their support over the longer term. 

You will work closely with other roles in the organisation, rolling out funding campaigns to attract new donors, whilst providing high-quality stewardship to existing ones. You will bring excellent planning and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise competing demands.

Key tasks:

• Generate income, bringing new revenue into the organisation.

• Lead the writing and submission of proposals to trusts, foundations and philanthropists.

• Implement  the fundraising strategy including donor outreach, cultivation, and partnership development.

• Develop & manage donor relationships and partnerships bringing hands-on knowledge of how to successfully secure support from trusts, foundations and philanthropists.
