Global Partners Digital is recruiting for two Lead positions within its policy and advocacy teams (functions). This is an exciting opportunity for experienced individuals to be at the forefront of GPD’s work to shape digital tech governance processes and policies so that they are inclusive and rights-respecting. 

Position 1 will have a policy focus across GPD’s thematic areas (Trust and Security, Platform and Content Governance, New and Emerging Tech, and Internet Governance) and will involve research, advocacy, engagement on these issues in key digital tech governance processes, including UN processes. 

Position 2 will have an Internet governance focus with specific expertise on technical standards and protocols and will involve advocacy and engagement in technical standard setting bodies including the International Telecommunications Union (ITU); Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), as well as other Internet governance relevant forums. 

Both positions will require relevant subject expertise, as well as knowledge of the digital policy ecosystem, and experience doing advocacy and/or engaging relevant stakeholders networks. We recognise, however, that candidates will be stronger in some areas than others and successful candidates will be placed in the most appropriate team (Function) for their skills and expertise.

What you will do

• Experience in economic transformation, new economics or sustainability fields including excellent understanding of economic transformation, sustainability and business issues and ability to anticipate and adapt messaging in relation to context and audience;

• Knowledge of branding and design is an asset; 

• Proven leadership with seasoned judgment, the ability to make decisions, justify recommendations and be responsive, clear and firm with colleagues and partners;

We currently run a network of around 90 community charity shops across the UK - from small boutiques to large furniture shops. Our online offering has grown rapidly over the past two years, with significant turnover during the Christmas peak, success in the launch and promotion of new goods, plus the launch of our secondhand online shop – and we’re planning to expand further in the near future.

About the role

This is a great opportunity not only to see e-commerce in action, but to help deliver an e-commerce strategy, grow Shelter’s sales of second-hand goods and raise income to tackle the housing emergency. Day-to-day, you’ll be instrumental in supporting the E-Commerce Hub Manager and local area shops to maximise the hub’s financial contribution to support the work of Shelter through the effective management of volunteer, stock and premises. We’ll also rely on you to provide efficient warehouse operations and customer order processes for our online shop and help ensure a safe, clean and bright environment in which to work. Put simply, you’ll play a big part in all aspects of our e-commerce operations, including ensuring they’re efficient and delivery focused and that volunteers feel motivated.

About you

Self-motivated and well-organised, with lots of enthusiasm and the ability to work both on your own initiative and as part of a team, you’ll have some knowledge of using online sales marketplaces such as eBay. Above all, you’re keen to learn while playing your part in helping to tackle a huge social issue.

Tempo Time Credits started 15 years ago and is an ambitious movement that empowers, encourages, and engages people from all walks of life, from communities across the UK, to get involved and volunteer. For example, befriending or helping to improve outdoor spaces. Volunteers earn Tempo Time Credits as part of a reward and recognition which can be exchanged for a range of services and activities provided by our local and national partners.

In these challenging times, community support is more crucial than ever. Tempo stands at the forefront having engaged with 40 commissioned programmes, collaborated with 1,500 charities, empowered over 15,000 volunteers, issued over 1 million Time Credits, cultivated 750+ business venues offering rewards, and pioneered the world's first national Time Credit network.

Funded by Heritage Lottery, the project you'll work on focuses on working with heritage organisations across Neath Port Talbot to increase the number and diversity of their volunteers and to recruit and retain them in a sustainable way.

Key responsibilities:

• Building and Maintaining Relationships: You will build and maintain relationships that support Tempo objectives, seek to understand stakeholder requirements, and support organisations face to face providing advice and guidance around Time Credits.
• Communicating & Influencing: communicate openly and effectively with internal and external stakeholders, create local social media content and newsletters, persuade others using evidence-based knowledge.
• Volunteer Management: You will manage a team of local volunteers in each locality that provide on the ground support and add capacity in the local community.

The Community Partnership & Network Coordinator will have proven experience in managing and building relationships with stakeholders from third, public or business sectors, and monitoring business plans and budgets. The successful candidate will be able to work with senior executives and Government officials, plan and juggle multiple projects at once, and have knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office. You will have attention to detail, planning and organisational skills, and will be able to negotiate both internally and externally.

You will have strong account management skills and have experience of managing or working with volunteers. You will be experienced in working within a role with a varied, demanding workload with the ability to adapt to change, deliver results, and work independently, as well as part of a team. The successful candidate will be proactive and passionate about communities and creating positive, lasting change, with an awareness of the voluntary sector and its opportunities and challenges.

The role is part time and could either be 3 or 4 days (between 21 and 28 hours) with flexibility on when those hours are done, such as 21 hours over 4 days. The role will be subject to satisfactory references and a DBS check.
