This is an exciting policy role in our committed team leading the fight to end child poverty in the UK. With a new government in place, this is a great time to join CPAG as we look to influence policy makers and parliamentarians to ensure child poverty is high up the agenda, and evidence-based policy solutions are adopted to effectively tackle child poverty.
We are looking for someone with a track record of communicating complex policy areas in an accessible manner to a range of non-specialist audiences. You will have knowledge of parliamentary processes and the different advocacy levers that can be used to influence change. You will enjoy working collaboratively to identify policy issues and develop solutions, working closely with colleagues across the organisation as well as externally.
You will play a key role in writing high quality consultation responses, briefing papers, reports and other policy resources promoting CPAG's wider policy calls.

We're recruiting a Employee Relations Specialist for a 12 month fixed term contract to join our team.
As a Employee Relations Specialist, you’ll be the escalation point from our People Operations team and will apply your specialist employee relations knowledge and expertise to provide professional and pragmatic employee relations advice on a range of employee relations (ER) issues, policies and processes.
You’ll pro-actively engage with managers to offer best practice advice on a range of ER case work, spotting and assessing the risks and advising managers on how to mitigate or find resolutions to those risks which are in the best interest for British Heart Foundation (BHF).
You’ll take ownership of your own case work from beginning to end and responsibility for the advisory solutions ensuring best practice timescales are adhered to. You will also ensure any risks or concerns are flagged.
Working arrangements
This is a blended role, where your work will be dual located between your home and our London Office. Please note this is a 12 month fixed term contract.

About you
With a CIPD Level 5 minimum qualification, or equivalent, you'll have extensive HR knowledge and understanding around best practice. You'll also have an up-to-date ER and Employment law knowledge, and understand ACAS code of Practise and be knowledgeable on the Equality Act.
You’ll have substantial experience managing complex casework, including dismissals and discrimination.
You are able to weigh up complex evidence and reach sound conclusions that are fair and reasonable while protecting the business. You have the proven experience of navigating legal complexities and negotiating successful resolutions swiftly.
Ideally, you will have ER specialist experience confidently managing a high volume of cases in a large organisation. Additionally, experience of tribunal case preparation, restructuring, redundancy, and TUPE would be highly advantageous.
A highly effective team player, you’ll have excellent communication skills and be able to build trust and rapport quickly. With strong time management skills, you’ll be resilient and work well under pressure to multiple and conflicting deadlines.
We’re looking for someone with a passion for all things employee relations who will be an ambassador for the People Relations team. Willing to challenge and influence managers, you’ll encourage them to be the decision makers as well as positively challenge the status quo on process, policy and procedure.

An entry-level role, the Philanthropy Coordinator will be a key member of GiveOut's small team, with responsibilities in three main areas: helping with internal programme coordination, supporting colleagues on key donor relationships and fundraising, and taking the lead on community fundraising. Main responsibilities:
Internal programme coordination

Although this role is predominantly working from home the role does require monthly travel to see our local teams which are currently accross the south of England. You must have access to a stable home broadband service, good mobile signal, a full driving licence and your own transport as well as flexibility with working hours.

Purpose

We do this through working in partnership with secondary schools, providing a fully resourced scheme of work that guides an entire year group of students to engage with local charities and causes and then carry out social action (fundraising, raising awareness, campaigning, volunteering etc.) in support of them.
At the end of each programme, a celebratory School Final is held at each school, where teams representing each class deliver presentations about their projects. The class considered to have engaged the best with the programme secures a First Give grant of £1,000 for their chosen charity. By the end of the programme, however, the whole year group will have given back meaningfully to their local community. We currently work in partnership with about 200 schools every year across England and Wales.

The Role
Our facilitators are key to the success of the programme, delivering three inspiring sessions in each school through the course of the programme. They are essentially the ‘face of First Give’, and we rely on them to bring the energy and enthusiasm that makes First Give events special for schools and students.
The purpose and role of the facilitator for each of these in school sessions is outlined below.

Assembly
The students’ introduction to the First Give programme, Facilitators ensure a positive start by delivering an engaging and informative assembly to the year group which motivates and inspires students who are about to start their First Give journey.
Presentation Skills Workshop
A two-hour presentation skills workshop which equips presenting students with the skills and confidence that they need to deliver a high standard of presentation at their First Give Final.
This workshop includes running a series of engaging activities to develop the students' presentation skills and confidence. The facilitator then works alongside the students, giving feedback and promoting discussion for how the students could create an even greater impact.
The group size can range from 30-60 students.
First Give Final
A 3 hour event broken into two halves, the Final involves rehearsal time and co-ordinating and hosting the First Give Final, which is a celebration of the social action undertaken by the whole year group.
It is at this event that the judges decide which class wins the £1,000 First Give grant for their chosen charity, and should be a true celebration of the students’ hard work across the year group.
Ensuring that this event is a success from the perspective of students, teachers, judges and all other guests. Finals are usually large-scale events with between 150 - 300 people in the audience, depending on the size of the school.
Pre & post event admin
For the delivery of each session to be complete, facilitators provide prompt and detailed feedback to the First Give central team after each event via the Salesforce CRM system. All facilitators will have a First Give Twitter account for posting about the events they facilitate too.
Person specification
- Experience of working with young people and an understanding of safeguarding
- Passionate about young people and their potential to drive social change; a passion for what First Give does and engaging young people in the social issues affecting their communities
- Experience of working with large groups (c. 30+), preferably secondary age young people, in a secondary school setting
