The role 

National Energy Action (NEA) has recently secured funding to develop a new pilot project that aims to help local people reduce their heating bills, create healthier homes, and be ready for the transition to net zero.  Over two years, a local retrofit hub will be established in three different locations, each with two members of staff who will help build trust, provide guidance and support, harness opportunities, and empower local people to achieve and benefit from change.  The key will be to work at the heart of the community to encourage / support / enable householders to take up existing grants for energy efficiency measures but in addition, practical (funded) assistance will be available to enable retrofit works and to offer additional non-funded support as necessary.

The Local Retrofit Co-ordination Officer will be one of two staff based in, and working to establish, a new local retrofit hub in Sheffield. We are also recruiting for a Local Retrofit Support Officer in the same location (job ref R71). The Local Retrofit Co-ordination Officer will carry out development work to understand the make-up of the local area, the housing stock, existing networks and strategies and to identify gaps in provision.  They will be responsible for identifying opportunities for significant schemes such as ECO to be implemented on a larger scale and to build partnerships with organisations working locally where they can add to the retrofit experience.  Through the action taking place in the community, the Local Retrofit Co-ordination Officer will build local capacity with installers and supply chains to deliver energy retrofit measures in a supportive environment. They will also co-ordinate or deliver advice and events in the community to householders and/or others to raise awareness of retrofit practice and technologies as well as to inform and de-mystify.  Impeccable customer service will be at the heart of all community engagement. 

The Local Retrofit Co-ordination Officer will work alongside other NEA departments to share experiences and learnings and to assist with the progression of other elements of the project. They will be expected to identify local/regional funding opportunities and assist NEA’s Fundraising and Partnerships team to produce proposals where applicable.

NEA’s Local Retrofit Co-ordination Officer role sits in the Directorate of Homes and will report to the Community Retrofit Project Manager. 

What you will need to succeed 

Local Retrofit Co-ordination Officers will have experience working in energy retrofit, community development and regeneration or housing sectors.  They will also be an excellent communicator with experience and understanding of how to effectively address the energy needs of low income, vulnerable or disadvantaged householders – with the desire to make a positive difference to people’s lives.

Post holders must be resident within the UK and be able to provide their Right to Work in the UK.

We are offering:  

• £32,641 to £37,304 per annum (Scale SO1 - SO2, Points 23 – 28). New appointments will usually begin at the starting point of the scale.  

• 11½% non-contributory pension. 

• 25 days annual leave plus 3 additional days in between Christmas New Year Period when our offices close; plus, all public holidays per annum for full time staff, pro-rata for part time staff.

The Local Retrofit Support Officer will assist householders to apply for energy efficiency retrofit measures and support them through the installation process providing impeccable customer service.

As someone with proven practical technical experience, they will be responsible for monitoring the quality and standards of energy efficiency retrofit measures installed in our clients’ homes and, on behalf of the client, will manage third party installers working on the property. The role

As Community Coordinator, your role will focus on the growth and sustainability of the FareShare Go programme, through maximising relationships and adding value to create the best experience for our charity community. The successful candidate will be an exceptional communicator, with an approachable nature who will play a vital role in developing and maintaining charity and retailer relationships, plus raising awareness of FareShare Go across your local area. 

Main areas of responsibility

• Charity account management: You will carry out virtual calls and in person visits with new and existing charities, and be responsible for ensuring that coverage KPIs are reached and maintained for both new and existing retailers. Using your analysis of charity needs, plus your knowledge of retailer and store profiles, you will use these visits to maximise the offer to charities, ensuring the service meets their requirements. 
• Community Capacity Building: As part of the Building of relationships with charities, you will seek opportunities to enable and empower charities to increase their capacity and ability to take more food, to ultimately increase the redistribution of surplus food to those in need. 
• Sustainability and Compliance: You will work with your Regional Manager and team to identify stores where re-engagement activities are needed to improve charity coverage and charity compliance. You will work to maximise the amount of food collected by charities with lower levels of compliance. You will also be responsible for undertaking food safety reviews with charities to ensure compliance. 
• Retailer Engagement: You will play a key role in maintaining strong retailer relationships across your region. You will take an active role in any meet and greets with retailers, where required. Plus, you will be responsible for maintaining regular contact with the relevant retail stakeholders in your region, sensitively dealing with any issues in a professional manner, as and when they arise. 
• FareShare Network Engagement: We aim to become 'oneFareShare’. These roles are an integral part of our FareShare network and you will partner closely with the Regional Centre(s) in your areas. You will work on joint initiatives which improve and grow the FareShare community, ensuring that charities have access to the FareShare service which best meet their needs. 

Person Specification

Essential Criteria

• Have exceptional relationship building skills with a range of stakeholders

Help For Heroes are looking for a highly skilled, professional, and experienced Occupational Therapist to join our expanding clinical team. Are you a committed, flexible OT with a minimum of 2 years of post-graduate experience looking to expand your skills and have the opportunity to work with the Armed Forces Community? If you have the ability to work independently but still enjoy having the support of a team, you could contribute your skills and experience to improve quality of life. Are you happy to embrace a flexible work pattern as the position will involve frequent travel to meet veterans in their own homes and communities and other organisational commitments including inductions, training and team meetings which may require some overnight stays?  If you have experience of delivering Occupational Therapy in both physical and mental health conditions, then your holistic approach will help improve lives. Sleep difficulties and sensory needs are a large part of the role to enable veterans to live as they want to so experience in these areas would be beneficial.

About the Role

You will have the opportunity to work in the homes and local communities and be able to support them with physical and mental health needs that are creating barriers to meaningful occupation. By carrying your own defined caseload, you will be able to identify barriers that are affecting veterans’ ability to be as independent as possible and live the life they want to live. You will be assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating Occupational Therapy interventions for those who have served our country and improving the quality of life of our Heroes. Job Title: Payroll & Expenses Officer (Parental Leave Cover)

Fauna & Flora is seeking a Payroll & Expenses Officer (Parental Leave Cover) to join our team, playing a key role in preparing monthly payroll information, reviewing staff expenses in line with Fauna & Flora’s Expenses Policy and HMRC guidance, advising on updates to the Expenses Policy as required, and supporting the finance team with management account information in relation to payroll. This role will suit an individual who is looking for exposure to payroll and expenses in a multi-currency, global organisation.

You will have experience in payroll, preferably including non-UK payrolls, and exposure to HMRC employee expenses and benefits regulations. As a member of the UK-based Finance Team, your strong communication, interpersonal skills and customer focus will enable you to build effective working relationships at all levels across the organisation.

About the Role

You will work in Salisbury / James Cook Hospital to oversee and coordinate services, personalise the patient care pathway and meet the complex information and support needs of veterans and their families.  They will be embedded within, and support NHS Trusts seeking Veteran Awareness accreditation, using, and applying technical knowledge of veteran experiences. Also build strong links with the local communities and healthcare providers The successful candidate will either need to have served in the Armed Forces or be able to demonstrate experience and understanding of the Armed Forces Community

You’ll play a key role leading the development and delivery of our policy and public affairs work in Wales. This will include focusing on topics such as waiting times, screening, and secondary breast cancer.

You’ll have experience of working in relevant policy or public affairs roles developing policy positions and materials, and a proven ability to build strong external contacts.

The principal aims of this post are to lead the charity’s news flow and media relations, achieving as many accurate and favourable mentions as possible in the primarily national, but also the international, equine and regional media which reflect World Horse Welfare’s organisational values, campaigning agenda and key messages.

Reporting to the Head of Communications, the role requires that you have journalistic experience or training along with excellent writing and interpersonal skills. You will have a good nose for a story, be able to write copy to tight deadlines and use your creativity to spot opportunities to promote the charity. The successful applicant will be a self-starter with an understanding of print, broadcast and online media. Horse knowledge and contacts within the national and/or equine press are desirable but not essential.

About the Role

KHULA Education is seeking an experienced and dynamic fundraising leader to lead KHULA’s fundraising and communication efforts in the UK and South Africa. The postholder will join us at an exciting time and help us to continue our growth trajectory which has seen our annual budget increase from £250,000 to £1 million in the past several years. Supported by the South Africa based CEO, and working closely with the UK Board of Trustees, the postholder will be joined by a new Fundraising Officer who you will line manage.

We’re looking for an entrepreneurial individual with strategic vision who will play an active part in developing KHULA’s future fundraising strategy. 70% of the role is focused on fundraising directly for our work, 30% on managing KHULA’s communications including donor newsletters and social media content (this may evolve with the recruitment of an Officer).

Key Responsibilities

• Steward, retain and grow the support of our existing donor portfolio: KHULA has an existing portfolio of donors including trusts, foundations, corporates, major donors, individual and regular givers, the majority of whom are based in the UK or South Africa. The post holder is responsible for managing these relationships, including bespoke reporting for trusts and major donors, leading donor meetings and involving our Board and CEO as appropriate.
• Donor prospecting and new business: researching and generating new donor leads as well as acting on opportunities provided by our Board and others, converting prospects into supporters of our programmes.
• ​​External communications: creating our quarterly e-newsletter to a database of ~2,000 supporters, managing our social media channels and the Annual Report, in addition to other ad hoc external communications.
• Fundraising innovation: leading on innovation in our fundraising approach, including creative campaigns to increase donations/recruit lapsed donors, developing products and offerings whilst considering cost effectiveness and ROI. Of particular interest is how to harness the giving potential of guests who are exposed to KHULA Education’s work when they visit Fugitives’ Drift Lodge in Rorke’s Drift.
• Financial management and admin: maintaining our donor database, working with the CEO to prepare our annual budget and fundraising forecasts.

Person Specification

Ideally you’ll have held a role with a similar scope of responsibilities around fundraising and communications, however you don’t need to have held a director level role before. Experience in a smaller charity and team is beneficial as you’ll need to be comfortable with both the strategic development side and inputting into wider planning, as well as being a leader who is willing to role up your sleeves and ‘do’.

We are particularly interested to hear from candidates who demonstrate most/all of the following attributes:

• A proven track record of personally delivering income of at least £1 million per year, including new business
• Experience in a fundraising leadership role and confidence in working alongside and advising at board level
• Experience in successfully fundraising from trusts, foundations, major donors and corporates, with experience in other areas (events, legacies etc.) also welcome
• Excellent proposal and donor communication writing skills (written samples of previous work will be requested)
• Self-motivated and able to work autonomously with a largely virtual team
• Comfortable acting in the capacity of charity ambassador, establishing new relationships and identifying new funding opportunities
• Ability to travel to occasional donor and board meetings (x3 per year), in/around London and annual trip to South Africa for 1-2 weeks.
