Role Purpose

This role is focused on maximising comms-based engagement across the GDI Hub’s portfolio, supporting GDI Hub’s growing outreach across project-based deliverables and organisational comms channels (e.g. social media, websites, content generation).

The post holder will work closely across GDI Hub comms team to support delivery across the organisational portfolio – with a focus on key regular outputs, reactive queries and organisational communications. This role will involve both administrative tasks, and creative content generation, at an anticipated volume of 50% per area.

We are looking for someone with strong administrative, communications and digital skills, with a passion for building impact and reach. The candidate will need the experience to deliver public facing comms outputs, while also building personable relationships. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment is essential, as it a streamlined, can-do approach.

Role Responsibilities - Driving comms-based engagement across the GDI Hub’s portfolio

The successful applicant will work across GDI Hub’s Community Interest Company and Academic Research Centre liaising with all areas of the organisation to support the communications function as we look to translate project, programme and research outputs into public facing content for GDI Hub’s multi-million-pound global programmes, research and sector expertise.

Following their sons’ diagnosis of Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD), Emily Reuben and Alex Johnson founded Duchenne UK in 2012. We are an ambitious, dynamic and impactful charity. 

DMD is a devastating progressive condition diagnosed in early childhood which causes all the muscles in the body to gradually weaken. There are currently only very limited treatment options for DMD, so Emily and Alex set up Duchenne UK to change this. 

Since 2012, we have raised more than £27 million to end the devastating impact of DMD.  We fund ground-breaking scientific research to find effective treatments. We’ve developed the infrastructure of DMD clinical trial delivery in the UK. We engage industry and regulators to accelerate access to treatments. And we’re here to support every family affected and ensure that they receive the best possible care. We aim not only to improve quality of live but stop the disease in its tracks. We’re doing it faster too, because this generation of patients can’t wait.

Alex and Emily were awarded OBEs in The King’s Birthday Honours List in 2023 in recognition of their services to charity and to people living with DMD. They, and the dedicated and effective team they have built at Duchenne UK, are now at the forefront of this work in the UK.

We have an opportunity to join our team and build on these achievements. We are recruiting for a full-time Fundraising Manager, who will be a key part of our team and play a vital role in helping us achieve our mission.

The successful candidate will be an experienced fundraiser with strong interpersonal and communications skills with the ability to build relationships with a wide variety of individuals. Excellent organisational skills are a must along with being ambitious, driven and passionate about representing Duchenne UK and supporting our mission.

The Fundraising Manager will report to the Director of Fundraising and line manage the Fundraising Assistant. They will work closely the rest of the organisation, including the Communications, Finance and Research Teams as well as having the opportunity to work alongside the CEO and Managing Director.

Job Description

This role plays a key part in advancing the fundraising of Duchenne UK to enable more investment into research, advancing treatments and supporting the DMD community.  A core part of this will be building relationships with key supporters, including our incredible Family and Friends Funds, corporate supporters and community of fundraisers.

You will be central to the development and delivery of key events and campaigns throughout the year to achieve ambitious fundraising targets. You will have budget management responsibilities and provide insight into activities to drive improvements and further success in future years.

The role will contribute to overall fundraising growth; ensuring the guiding engagement and fundraising principles are delivered, and that all fundraising delivers an exceptional and remarkable donor experience to which Duchenne UK prides itself.

Fundraising and business development

• Community
  • Key relationship manager for Duchenne UK Family and Friends Funds, engaging them through fundraising, supporting third party events and providing regular project and charity updates
  • Develop and implement the Family Fund and Community Fundraising stewardship strategy
• Events, Challenge and Campaigns
  • Manage and grow the challenge events portfolio
  • Project manage community events and Duchenne UK campaigns
  • Oversee the whole event process from developing a business case and objectives, to budget, project management and event follow up with relevant agencies and suppliers to deliver events within budget
  • Play a vital role in the delivery of Duchenne UK’s signature event, the Duchenne Dash. Our 24hr London to Paris bike ride raising c.£800k annually.

  • Manage Corporate partnerships, with support from the Fundraising Director
• Stewardship and income development
  • Develop and deepen existing donor relationships, ensuring that the organisation maintains effective communications and good relations with our donors at every level and that they are updated on our work and impact
  • Oversee management of regular giving, including working with the Communications team to promote this type of giving. Provide stewardship to Regular Givers, with support from the Fundraising Assistant.
  • Lead the identification and development of new income sources with the support of the Fundraising team to increase donations, improve the profile of Duchenne UK and enhance our reputation within the donor community; including corporate partnerships, fundraising campaigns, third party activity, challenge events, regular giving and legacy
  • Represent the organisation at meetings with donors and external events
• Monitoring and evaluation
  • Support the development and implementation of the new Sales Force database (launching July 2024)
  • Monthly monitoring and evaluation of fundraising activity
  • Review fundraising and engagement for each Duchenne UK event and campaign with the support of the Fundraising Team.

As Governance and Compliance Manager, you will be primarily accountable for ensuring that that the organisations operate within the relevant legal, regulatory, and good practice frameworks, including in relation to company law, data protection, contract management and - for TDT - charity regulations. As membership organisations, SOLT and UKT operate in the interest of their members and as set out in their respective Articles. Reporting to the Director of Finance and Operations, the role involves liaising with board, senior management, and external regulatory bodies to support best practice in governance, risk management, and compliance.

About the role 

As we embark on a new ten-year strategy, this is a unique opportunity to lead the development of a radical and ambitious approach to partnerships with businesses, building on the successful partnerships we have with Lloyds Banking Group, Specsavers, Taylor Wimpey, Berkeley Homes and many more. 

This pivotal role will lead the development of a corporate and commercial engagement strategy across Crisis, growing and deepening our portfolio of corporate partners, broadening their support for our organisation and our cause, and inspiring them to act within their businesses. The role also involves leading the continued development of our fundraising and partnerships outside of London, creating a national support network to end homelessness. 

While the role is directly responsible for strategic and corporate partnerships, the post holder will lead across the charity, ensuring a joined-up approach across retail, service delivery (including Crisis at Christmas), brand partnerships, venture philanthropy, investments, and innovation. 

The role also involves membership of the Brand, Marketing & Fundraising senior team and the organisation’s Senior Leadership Group, where it plays an important organisation-wide leadership role. Additional investment has recently been made in the team, and senior leadership and the Board have committed to supporting its success.

We’re seeking someone with significant experience developing relationships with the corporate/commercial sector and a successful track record in organisations comparable in scale and complexity to Crisis. You will be ambitious, with a strong understanding of our challenges and how to make the most of opportunities to create new relationships with partners and think differently about what it means for a business to support a charity and social cause.

Role Purpose

You will work alongside the Strategic Projects Manager to provide flexible and high-quality project management and administrative support to the Senior Management Team, working across THET’s programmatic, operations, policy, and advocacy work.

THET is experiencing an exciting time of growth, and you, alongside the Strategic Projects Manager, will play a critical role in supporting this growth to be managed well, and in ways that allow colleagues to maintain a focus on existing projects and programmes.

The Strategic Projects unit focuses on new and emerging areas of work which require close collaboration with staff across the organisation, and to use creative thinking, sound project management and administrative skills. Recently completed work ranges from providing interim programme and events management support to THET’s Experts In Our Midst programme, to project management and coordination support to the UK-Africa Health Summit. Work is now starting on initiatives to tackle the organisational change we see at THET, such as strengthening recruitment and induction processes, and improving our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion approach.

Main Responsibilities

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Mind in the City Hackney and Waltham Forest. Mind CHWF has recently won a contract for the provision of two Wellbeing Cafés in the borough, with one of the cafés being for women only. The Wellbeing Cafes are places where people can get involved in creative and wellbeing activities, learn new skills, increase levels of self-esteem, confidence, social contacts and get connected to wider community resources in the borough. Each café will be open for 40 weeks a year. Between 10-15 people will attend each cafe for 3 hours a week, over 4 terms of 10 weeks.

Then our World Watch Unit (WWU) team at Open Doors International (ODI) is looking forward to welcoming you to their team!

With the team, you will be responsible for the quality of the WWL, ensuring that the data generated is communicated in a form that will be most relevant to the various constituent parts of Open Doors and beyond.

Your main responsibility is to work together with local and regional experts, as well as with other organizations that produce information on religious persecution, to monitor and score persecution. You will contribute, for the countries in your portfolio, to the establishment and continuous update of country profiles. Your portfolio will consist of a group of Asian countries, and you will report to the WWL Manager. 

Your key responsibilities

• To contribute to the development of the WWL as a world class instrument for monitoring persecution.
• To monitor and score persecution.
• To produce Full Country Dossiers and other persecution-related reports and country profiles for your portfolio.
• To strengthen the capacity of ODI’s internal network of researchers in research methodologies.
• To produce and review country analyses and to steer interdisciplinary teams drawn from the different areas of the organization for the production and review of the country analyses.
• To communicate results in speaking and writing to different target groups.

Your profile

• Committed Christian with a heart for the Persecuted Church.
• Master’s degree in relevant area or equivalent experience.
• Proven field research expertise in multi-cultural, complex and risky contexts and strong analytical skills.
• Able to combine accuracy with helicopter view and being a team player with being a self-starter.
• Written and verbal communication skills; primarily in English, knowledge of local Asian languages will be a plus.
• Able to travel to the field as well as to ODI bases.
