FareShare is the UK’s national network of charitable food redistributors, made up of 18 independent organisations. Together, we take good quality surplus food from right across the food industry and get it to nearly 8,500 frontline charities and community groups.
The food we redistribute is nutritious and good to eat. It reaches charities across the UK, including school breakfast clubs, older people’s lunch clubs, homeless shelters, and community cafes. Every week we provide enough food to create almost a million meals for vulnerable people.
Every year, more than three million tonnes of food go to waste in the UK, enough for 7 billion meals. Meanwhile, the cost-of-living crisis is driving millions into food insecurity.

We are looking for someone to join us who has significant expertise with a wide range of marketing channels and can really add value to large well-established programmes with their experience, knowledge and drive to continually improve, identify appropriate new opportunities and shape supporter acquisition programmes.
The role involves leading an experienced team of two managers and two co-ordinators, and leading relationships with key suppliers. The marketing programmes include most significantly face-to-face fundraising (from stands in retail space or expos/outdoor events and door-to-door) and DRTV advertising, plus some print campaigns, payroll giving and 3rd party marketing. The role will also manage development projects that could include aspects of digital fundraising. An important part of the role is developing advertising for the nation’s largest charity appeal, the Poppy Appeal each November.
The Royal British Legion holds a special place in the hearts and minds of generations of people in society. The needs of veterans, young and old, serving personal and their families are growing and complex. To support them we must raise awareness and donations, and that is where you could come in.
We introduced a new fundraising strategy last year called ‘Three Giants’ to focus on protecting and strengthening three vital areas of income generation, the Poppy Appeal, individual giving and gifts in wills. Now is an exciting time to join the charity and help to implement the strategic change and be a key stakeholder or lead in a variety of cross-team workstreams.
As an experienced senior marketing manager, you would hit the ground running to optimally deliver plans with your team and whilst helping to shape programme strategies and review supply requirements. You’ll strive for excellence, ensuring campaigns are compelling and effective and will be able to capably resolve issues at a senior level and take on new challenges.
This is an extraordinary opportunity to join the leading Armed Forces charity and help to deliver evolving fundraising programmes that will raise donations today and also provide longer-term opportunities to help fund our much-needed welfare services in the years ahead. You would be joining a welcoming and capable team here at RBL, focused on serving the thousands of beneficiaries who need our help every day.
If this opportunity sounds right for you and you have the experience and skills to help us achieve fundraising growth and development, then we’d love to hear from you today. If you want to learn more about the role, we’ll be delighted to tell you more.

Following its successful relaunch, the Air Cadet Charity is seeking a highly motivated Trust and Major Donor Fundraiser to help it achieve its aims of supporting and developing the young people of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The Air Cadet Charity, until now, has had to rely on donations but Trustees have decided to expand our income generation streams in order to enable us to do more for each and every Royal Air Force Air cadet. Our activities and projects include supporting flying, adventurous training, drone piloting, participation in the Duke of Edinburgh scheme, national sports and national music competitions, BTEC qualifications, STEM development as well as many others. Although the Charity had been around in a different guise for many years this is an opportunity to join a vibrant young charity at the start of its new journey to do more for the young people of our Nation.
The role will focus chiefly on sourcing funding from charitable trusts who share our goal of developing our young people, equipping them with the skills to prosper not only in the present but also for the rest of their lives. Some cadets will join the Royal Air Force, but the majority go on to forge careers in all walks of life thanks to the opportunities provided by the Air Cadets and the Air Cadet Charity. Our policy is to spend all that we earn and to dip into our capital if required. Annual expenditure and income is around £900,000 each year and our aim is to increase this to around £1,500,000 by 2029. The successful applicant will have tried and tested charitable trust fundraising skills such that they contribute the majority of the additional funds required to make this ambition a reality although we recognise that this will not be an overnight goal! In addition, the successful candidate will have outstanding interpersonal skills enabling them to encourage donations from major donors and all who would wish to support the development of our young people.
The role will work directly to the Charity Director, will suit someone who is able to work as the sole fundraiser – although there may be scope to increase our resources as our ambition grows – and not afraid of hard work and added responsibility. It will be primarily working from home with regular contact with the Charity Director and the Trustees responsible for fundraising.
Pitching, presenting and proposal writing should be a strength, that can be evidenced through successful fundraising. Specific knowledge of charitable trust fundraising is essential and wider knowledge of other fundraising specialisms would be advantageous, such as Major Donor and Corporate. We’re looking for a proactive and ambitious team player, able to work from your own initiative.
Key Focus areas
- Expert knowledge of charitable trust fundraising with a track record in designing and securing major gifts through written and/or verbal proposals.
- A track record in securing income from individual donors, Major Donors and Philanthropists including knowledge of legacy fundraising.
- Develop engaging supporter journeys and Legacy pipelines.
- Provide an exceptional experience to our supporters.
- Strong understanding of fundraising principles but most importantly doing the right thing at all times.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Strategic thinker with exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
Salary £35k-£40k pro-rata, working from home, 26 days annual leave (not including bank holidays).
The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.

ACT is an established charity paying grants to actors to bring stability and opportunity to their children.
None of ACT’s main fund is endowed so the Trustees must ensure new income to maintain reasonable reserves. In recent years ACT has received fewer legacies and donations from individuals, but we have been able to draw down from capital to supplement income. However, with the current low growth in investments, ACT must now diversity our income streams to support existing services.
Fundraising brief
We believe grant-making Trusts and Foundations are a significant source of potential income. The Trustees are seeking an experienced freelance trust fundraiser to raise an initial minimum target of £70,000 to support our ongoing children’s activity grants and projects.
· Fee: £350 - £450 per day (dependent on experience)
· Timescale for work: Sept 2024 - 31st March 2025
· 50 - 60 days work
The freelance fundraiser will identify parcels of work and potential funders. You will write bids and lead on the process, acting on the charity’s behalf as the main point of contact. You will report to Jane Foy, an ACT Trustee who is herself a professional fundraiser. Data will be provided by ACT’s head of family support and executive director.
ACT’s supports a niche group of beneficiaries. Our work is not project-based but may be parcelled into clusters of specific impact. This role is therefore likely to appeal to a fundraiser with experience in making a compelling case for a charity that is harder to fund.
Who we are looking for
A self-motivated and an effective freelance fundraiser with a strong track record of securing grant funding for a national organisation. Well-developed relationships with grant makers and knowledge of specialist funds. Excellent research and writing skills with ability to develop outcomes in line with funder’s expectations.
Deliverables
Delivering a case for support, for different areas of ACT’s work (see below).
A range of applications made on behalf of ACT between September 2024 and March 2025 to generate minimum £70,000.
Daily agreed rate will be inclusive of all expenses. There is option for a desk space at our office in Bloomsbury or flexible work from home.
To apply
We welcome informal discussion and CVs initially. Jane Foy has the board’s authority to commission a freelancer immediately.
