Main Duties and Responsibilities

· Work closely with the Committee and key stakeholders focusing on a shared vision, mission of Lewisham Giving and to successfully deliver the strategy.

· Produce an annual plan of work that sets out the key priorities and activities for Lewisham Giving and is approved by the Committee

· Proactively establish and nurture a network of businesses, residents, community organisations, and individuals who will contribute time, money, skills, opportunities and connections to ensure a sustainable Giving model for Lewisham.

· Commission or carry out research as necessary to understand unmet need and inform plans to maximise impact.

· Further develop the giving model for Lewisham through co-design with residents and other relevant agencies and monitor and report on their impact.

What you need to know:

As the role is primarily customer-facing, the SRO is based at the rehoming centre. However, they spend a portion of their time in local communities. Background:

Due to significant losses during the Covid pandemic, a Club appeal for donations was launched in 2020. The Friends of the RAF Club was established in 2021 to recognize these generous Members, many of whom have maintained their donations which have subsequently funded key refurbishment projects in the Club. Support of The Friends contributes significantly to the Club’s financial recovery.

Key Responsibilities:

The Director of Fundraising will be expected to deliver in 3 key areas:

DEVELOPMENT OF THE MEMBERSHIP GIVING JOURNEY

• Enhance the Friends Scheme through life giving and particularly ending with the Legacy commitment:
• Review and manage the fundraising strategy
• Retain, recruit and steward the Friends of the RAF Club
• Devise and implement a legacy strategy
• Devise and implement a series of engagement and stewardship events for the Friends of the RAF Club

CAPITAL CAMPAIGNS

• Deliver the funding to help pay for capital projects within the Club:
• In liaison with the House Committee, devise and manage the 2025 appeal campaign to fund the refurbishment of The Running Horse Tavern (the Club’s onsite ‘pub’)

DELIVERY OF ASSOCIATED ADMINISTRATION

• In compliance with the Fundraising Code, GDPR and all other associated regulations:
• Run Friends and Legacy schemes
• Timely and appropriate communication and follow-up with all relevant parties (accepting this is a part-time role)
• Event delivery for Friends events
• Manage the systems and processes to track, administer and report on donations received
• Prepare and produce fundraising marketing collateral.
• Prepare and submit Gift Aid claims

• Priority 3 - Membership Giving Journey - Development and implementation of a membership giving journey, with particular emphasis on delivery of a Legacy Programme.

The base location for this position is negotiable, with full remote working / home working a possibility. However, if you prefer working in office, we have Field Studies Centres throughout the country which you are also able to work from. We will also consider hybrid working options.

There may the occasional need to travel to meet with, colleagues, prospective funders and other stakeholders. We expect this to be limited, no more than once every 2-3 months.

You will be passionate about our charity’s mission and understand the importance of Environmental Education.

It’s essential that you have experience working in a fundraising role or department. We need an experienced individual who is confident to write and submit successful fundraising bids to trusts, foundations and businesses.

You will also have experience creating and managing successful supporter journeys to optimise our donations, particularly legators.

As a natural at building relationships with internal and external stakeholders, you will be able to tell compelling stories to encourage individuals and organisations to support our aim to connect people to nature.

Role Overview: 

Reporting to the Senior Events Manager, the Events Coordinator will be responsible for managing outdoor, parks and corporate events. From supporting enquiries to increase sales conversions to helping customers plan and manage their events safely and successfully. 

The Events Team are a busy, creative, tight knit group of vibrant professionals who are looking for someone to join the team who pride themselves in 5 start customer service and going the extra mile for their clients. In the Events Team we celebrate creative problem solving, autonomy and integrity in our approach to work. 

We are looking for someone who has previous experience with managing event applications and processing health and safety paperwork in parks, outdoor venues, or local authorities. Someone equally comfortable with advising professional event companies as well as supporting first-time community organisers and someone who can balance our commitment to not overwhelming our public spaces but also with a keen understanding of achieving revenue targets.

Main Duties/Responsibilities:  

Venue Management:

• Providing clients with venue availability, quotes, and conducting site visits
• Briefing clients on T&Cs for hire and licenses and supporting clients making event applications
• Ensuring all event application paperwork per event is complete and compliant with the requirements of the Event Policy
• Overseeing health & safety procedures; liaising with security personnel and conduct thorough site inspections before, during, and after events
• Working with internal & external contractors to secure the necessary services for each event and ensure clients are billed accurately
• Collaborating on developing new event opportunities to maximize revenue for the park(s)
• Communicating effectively with colleagues to ensure all park events and activities are well coordinated
• Maintaining clear communication with clients to address their needs and work with the site team to fulfill their requests
• Supporting and attending events / productions as required

Admin and Finance:

• Managing event bookings and venue schedules to maximise revenue
• Raising invoices and purchase orders for clients, tracking corporate bookings income and expenses, ensuring smooth cash flow, and keeping budget up to date
• Ensuring all supplier’s paperwork is checked and uploaded to the system
• Raising contracts and agreements, ensuring all aspects of the event are clearly outlined and protected
• Updating the booking system with all confirmed event details, ensuring all details are documented and ensuring efficient scheduling and avoiding conflicts
• Preparing and submitting TEN applications to relevant authorities for events requiring permits in public spaces or with specific restrictions
• Supporting the Head of Events and Senior Events Manager with various projects, taking ownership and initiative
   

Skills and Experience:  

• Minimum of 2 years experience planning and managing events, ensuring a positive client experience
• Management of multiple clients simultaneously, providing confident and patient guidance to clients
• Proficient in a range of office software; Outlook, Excel, Xero
• Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact effectively with clients, staff and senior management
• You thrive in fast-paced environments, managing multiple tasks and projects efficiently against deadlines
• Proactive approach and pride yourself on going the extra mile to create best customer experience possible
• You can work autonomously while readily collaborating with the wider events team
• Key player in event success with a flexible schedule that adapts to needs; including weekends, early mornings & late nights

• Personal Licence holder
• Drivers Licence
• Proficiency with Priava, or other diary management software
• Experience with Xero, Sage or other accounting software

LOCATION:Home based with regular travel across Merseyside, Tyne and Wear, Tees Valley Regions. Candidates will be required to reside within the region.

WHAT WE DO

Young people from lower income families are 40% less likely to go to University than wealthier peers (Dept for Education, 2020) which can have a lifelong impact on earning potential. Covid-19 has deepened inequalities (Social Mobility Foundation, 2022) and negatively impacted on young people's wellbeing (GirlGuiding, 2020). We believe that no girls should have their futures limited by their gender, sex, ethnicity, background, or parental income and they should be supported to realise their ambitions, to discover their self-worth, and to develop their capacity to shape their world and their futures.

We work in communities of least advantage across England to deliver two core programmes to achieve this vision. Through our mentoring programme we connect 14-19 year old girls with a mentor and a wider network of role models who are women and deliver opportunities which help them to build life skills and nurture their ambitions. Based on the idea that 'you can't be what you can't see', our mentors often help girls to broaden their horizons and create a more positive vision of their futures. After the programme, the mentees can join a free, lifelong network of support - our Ambassador Community, which offers further opportunities to reach their goals, build their confidence and to share their voices and experiences.

Our programmes help girls and young women to develop the knowledge, skills, self-belief and opportunities to thrive, and to be supported as part of a network that champions them and ensures their voices are heard.

THE ROLE

Purpose: To manage the effective implementation of programme delivery and development of Merseyside, Tyne and Wear, and Tees Valley Regions. This role will work with staff, schools and corporate partners to ensure that we deliver impact for the girls and young women we serve.

Manage The Girls’ Network mentoring (and other) programmes in your region:

Partnership development:

• Develop effective partnerships with new schools, recruiting them into The Girls’ Network’s programme to enable your team to meet regional targets. Maintaining relationships for successful renewals.
• Collaborate with fundraising colleagues during the engagement process of new corporate partners, to ensure regional targets and needs are met e.g. income, mentor numbers, programme content.
• Oversee delivery of mentor opportunities for the region’s corporate partnerships, ensuring Memorandum of Understanding are met, referring any issues of concern to the Fundraising team for support and guidance.
• Provide relevant information to fundraising and Monitoring Evaluation Research and Learning colleagues on any Tier 1 partners in the region, to enable production of evaluation reports
• Lead on delivery of the region’s awareness events, acting as the key contact person.
• Collaborate with the Fundraising & Communications team on key campaigns, e.g. International Womens’ Day, to reach key audiences and help build awareness and support income generation.

Mentor Community Development:

• Work with programme colleagues and the fundraising team to identify regional mentoring needs and coordinate the implementation of a mentor recruitment and engagement plan in your region, ensuring your region has an appropriate amount of mentors to run programmes.
• Lead on the implementation and delivery of the region’s events, acting as the key contact person.

Safeguarding support and leadership:

• Provide day-to-day safeguarding support for the Programme team in the North of the country – escalating issues to the Safeguarding lead where appropriate.
• Provide feedback on key safeguarding risks or issues, and needs for development or training to the Safeguarding Lead

Monitoring and evaluation:

• Oversee the collection of regional data and ensure that your staff keep Salesforce up to date with mentee, mentor, schools and partners relationships to effectively track the progress, and impact of mentoring relationships.
• Periodically evaluate and report on the progress and impact of The Girls’ Network initiatives in the region.
• Hold overall responsibility for regional targets, reporting to Senior Leadership Team.
• Manage and allocate the budget for the mentoring programme in the region, to cover workshops, celebration events, travel etc

Line Management of region’s Network Managers:

• Manage Network Managers in the region, through regular 1:1s and accountability of reporting.
• Support the wellbeing and professional development of your regional team.
• Cover or support with programme delivery when needed.

Grow our network in your region:

• Identify opportunities for growth in North region and work with Senior Leadership Team to develop regional strategy
• Advocate and promote The Girls’ Network at every opportunity to raise awareness of the charity and encourage community members to become mentors

Programme Leadership within The Girls’ Network Team:

Learning & Development

• Provide shadowing opportunities to Network Managers in other regions.
• As agreed with the Co-Executive Director - Programmes (Interim), travel to other regions to provide targeted training to other Network Managers.
• Coordinate Network Managers’ induction and recruitment.
• Contribute to The Girls’ Network culture of shared learning

Responsibility for an additional workstream:

• Each senior network manager is responsible for progressing aspects of programme workstream to timelines agreed with the accountable member of Senior Leadership Team. These may vary with need over time. Workstream to be agreed with Line Manager, but may include worksteams such as:
• Programme Process and Resource Development
• Safeguarding
• Sales Development etc
