We are seeking a Head of Finance to lead a UK Finance team to deliver an effective finance function for the UK’s leading fostering charity and membership organisation.

As Head of Finance you will lead the UK Finance team and advise the Senior Leadership Team and Board of Trustees on matters relating to financial management, as well as providing effective business partnering to key stakeholders across the organisation.

Finance Systems Implementation Manager

A national healthcare charity are seeking to appoint a Finance Systems Implementation Manager on an 18 month fixed term contract. The Finance Systems Implementation Manager will be responsible for overseeing the successful implementation of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. This role will report to the Director of Finance and will involve working closely with various stakeholders to ensure the new system meets the charity's financial and operational needs.

Key areas of responsibility:

• Project Management: Lead the end-to-end implementation of Business Central, including planning, execution, and monitoring.
• Project Leadership: Manage the planning, resource requirements, scheduling, risk management and budget control for the project, using appropriate tools and methodologies.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with finance, IT, and other departments to gather requirements and ensure alignment with business objectives, liaising with colleagues across teams to ensure that all work is prioritised, maximising the available cross-functional resource in an efficient and cost effective manner.
• Draw on financial and accounting expertise to oversee the configuration and customization of Business Central to meet the charity's specific needs.

Who are we looking for?

• A formally qualified Accountant.

The key duties of this Head of Finance are as follows:

• Prepare annual global organisation budgets by entity, business unit and project.
• Prepare multi-year forecasts and financial plans built on known and likely projects, activities, expected growth and blue-sky scenarios.
• Prepare regular financial performance reports for the Executive Committee and Board.
• Have critical oversight of the global results consolidation.
• Lead the Global Finance team with 3 direct reports and outsourced local relationships for each office jurisdiction.
• Prepare quarterly global and entity forecasts and supervise cashflow.
• Hold oversight of global fiscal and tax compliance.
• Plan, forecast and monitor recovery of funds from grant funded projects.

The successful candidate will have:

• Qualified as an Accountant: ACA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent.
• Non-profit experience, particularly with grants and project financial reporting.
• International experience – ideally at HQ group level (non-profit or commercial) demonstrating an understanding of cultural and logistical challenges.
• Excellent FP&A experience, including modelling, budgeting and forecasting.
• Experience of managing a finance team.
• Experience providing a proactive partnering role to business operations, especially in ensuring achievement of budgets
• The willingness to travel internationally to other GWEC offices on an infrequent basis.

JOB OBJECTIVE:

Manage and lead all finance and accounting functions for the Europe region. Function as the Accounting Manager for the UK office, handling day-to-day accounting and financial reporting processes and supervising UK accounting staff. Supervise the Accounting Managers of all other Europe region offices. Responsible for cash management, insurance, budgeting, financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls for all Europe region offices.

DUTIES AND TASKS:

- Oversee day-to-day accounting and internal control activities of the UK office and all Europe offices.
- Travel to each Europe office and meet regularly on Teams with Accounting Managers.
- Provide regular training to accounting staff.
- Ensure compliance with government regulations and required filings in each country, OFAC and FCPA.
- Ensure compliance with all finance policies and procedures.
- Manage cash flow.
- Manage all treasury activities including accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, petty cash, and travel advances.
- Responsible for the full monthly accounting cycle, recording all transactions accurately in QuickBooks, and providing required financial reports to International Finance.
- Work with National Directors and UK department managers to develop annual budgets.
- Review monthly budget variances and provide variance notes.
- Maintain up-to-date fund accounting cash flow projections.
- Review financial performance and provide strategic recommendations to the Regional Director.
- Manage the purchasing process ensuring required preapprovals and quotes are obtained.
- Manage the donation receiving and receipt process.
- Manage finance-related sales activities of all Europe entities, ensuring appropriate administration in line with local tax and reporting laws and requirements.
- Track royalties, license fees, and other sales income, maintaining a library of all distribution and sales agreements.
- Process monthly payroll, remit all tax payments, and complete tax filings including VAT, Gift Aid, and any other non-payroll tax filings.
- Maintain fixed asset inventory.
- Engage qualified external auditors to prepare annual audited financial statements for all Europe offices.
- Schedule and prepare documents for annual general meetings and board of director meetings.
- Identify risks and obtain necessary competitively priced insurance for proper risk management.
- Provide recommendations, improve systems and procedures in line with local accounting laws, initiating corrective actions.
- Establish and maintain fiscal files and records for documenting transactions.
- Interview applicants for accounting positions. In addition to the respective office HR department, coordinate with National Directors, Regional Directors, and International Finance Directors when filling key accounting positions.
- Any other tasks as directed by the Regional Director, in line with the position.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

- Ten or more years of experience in accounting, including five years in a management role.
- Excellent leadership skills, with steadfast resolve and personal integrity.
- Strong analytical and strategic planning skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and driven to succeed.
- Analytical with the ability to identify cause & effect.
- Knowledge of all aspects of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP or IFRS).
- Understanding of advanced accounting, regulatory issues, and tax planning.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
- Chartered Accountant with a minimum Level 4 Diploma in Accounting (MAAT) or equivalent.
- Master’s degree in business administration (MBA) preferred.
- Exceptional verbal, written, and visual communication skills.
- Ability to travel frequently to Europe offices.

• Provide financial analysis and commentary to support in strategic decision making in relation to programme areas

Populo Living is a development and housing company wholly owned by a single shareholder, Newham Council. The role of Head of Finance – Treasury and Financial Planning will lead, manage and co-ordinate the provision of the Groups Financial Planning, Treasury Management Services and Management Accounting functions as well as assist the Finance Director to lead and manage the Finance team.

The role:

• Lead, manage and motivate a team of four with two direct reports.
• Lead on all treasury related matters for the group such as arranging new funding, loan compliance, cashflow and banking.
• Lead on the organisation’s annual financial plan, including extensive sensitivity analysis of key performance indicators.
• Lead on the review of management accounts and production of board papers.
• Attend relevant committees and board meetings as required.

Essential criteria:

• Fully qualified Accountant.
• Previous experience working in either social housing, a commercial house builder or residential lettings.

• Ability to present data-driven insights to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
• Proven experience working with cross-functional teams and building relationships with stakeholders.

Desirable:

• Experience with housing benchmarking tools like Housemark
