Founded in 1991, Emmaus now has 30 communities across the UK, with three more in development. About the role.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for leading the Major Donor, Corporate, and Trusts & Foundations fundraising function. You’ll manage a team of three, with two direct line reports: the Corporate Partnerships Manager and the Trust & Foundation Manager.

This role will focus primarily on supporting new business development in these areas and establishing a major donor programme.

Corporate and T&F fundraising are well established at Emmaus UK and performing well, but there is capacity for them to grow significantly with strategic support and guidance from this role.

Major Donor fundraising is a key area as there is not currently an established programme, but there is great potential amongst supporters of other giving streams to make significant personal donations.

This role’s focus will generally be on winning new business and nurturing your team so they can carry these relationships forward as they develop their skills under your leadership. You’ll help your team create compelling proposals for innovative projects while looking at the big picture and utilising resources to meet organisational goals.

Who we are looking for.

We are seeking a well-rounded and seasoned high value giving fundraiser. You will primarily be a major donor expert with experience in at least one, but ideally both, of corporate and trusts & foundations giving.

The Role

FARA is looking to launch the charity’s new Individual Giving programme and is looking for an experienced fundraiser to lead the creation and launch of this.

It is an exciting time for the charity, which helps disadvantaged children, young people, adults and their families in Romania. Building on the initial income opportunities and strategy development work done by fundraising consultants, you will be joining a marketing function with ambitious plans to transform their communications. You will work alongside colleagues across the whole organisation to deliver this work and will have the support of the Director of Marketing and Communications, the CEO and additional support from Nova Fundraising who have already been working with the charity on a consultancy basis.

The Individual Giving Manager will be responsible for:

• Creating systems, structures, activities and messages designed to launch and grow individual giving with an ambition to take the charity’s fundraising income to six figures over three years.
• Using data to inform Individual Giving campaigns, creating powerful messaging to acquire, retain and upgrade donors through digital and offline methods.
• Brief and oversee the work of external agencies, as required, to support the recruitment and engagement of new supporters.
• Oversee and implement stewardship plans and supporter journeys for financial donors, who work alongside those of other supporters to ensure optimum message integration and upsell/cross-sell opportunities.
• Work with colleagues to generate and implement FARA’s email stewardship programme for individual givers.
• Plan, schedule and manage personalised communications with donors.
• Explore other fundraising areas, including events, community, legacy and major donors.

The Person

Are you entrepreneurial, innovative, personable, and collaborative, with experience developing and delivering fundraising programmes?

The role requires a candidate with a strong background in building relationships and identifying and developing new fundraising messages, campaigns and activities from scratch.

This is not a case of picking up a mature programme and running with it (although the organisation does have a small baseline of donors who have been giving for many years). The opportunity is all about creating, testing and learning – to diversify income sources at FARA, utilising the extensive network of supporters it has gained through its 40 charity shops across London.

You will need to be proficient in digital platforms, with experience in building a digital-focused approach to supporter acquisition and donor development. You will play a crucial role in nurturing relationships with individual supporters to make a difference to the lives of disadvantaged children, young people and adults in Romania.

The post-holder will have previous experience in fundraising, ideally experience specifically within IG, however this is not essential and we will consider candidates looking to transition into a new area of fundraising. You will need experience of developing creative fundraising programmes and be excited by the prospect of pursuing new opportunities for the organisation by engaging with existing supporters—many of whom might only have ‘gifted’ the charity via donations of pre-loved clothes and other items to FARA shops.

FARA funds, develops, and manages social support services across Romania for vulnerable children, children with learning disabilities and complex needs, youth at risk, adults with learning dis-abilities, and community-based programmes, tackling poverty through education for Romania’s poorest families. FARA, established in 1991 following the fall of communism, has grown to be one of the biggest and most established NGO’s in Romania, working to building a stronger future for Romania.

This is an exciting new role for the organisation and a wonderful opportunity for the right individual to shape an emerging fundraising programme. More about the role:

The Database and Gifts Officer role is integral to the Development and Alumnae Relations (DAR) department, supporting the school’s fundraising and engagement efforts. The postholder will manage and maintain the alumni and donor database, ensuring the accurate entry of gifts and pledges, and collaborate with the Finance team to ensure financial data is up to date and reconciled. Additionally, the post holder will create targeted mailing lists, conduct due diligence on prospective donors, and support the identification of lost alumnae. The role also involves ensuring compliance with data protection laws and contributing to DAR events, which may occasionally occur outside regular hours .

Key Responsibilities:

• Experience of working on a database, extracting, interrogating and reporting on data.

Role purpose

This is an exciting new role in the team which will support the growth of the Retention programme by supporting on the delivery of campaigns and supporter journeys (including ShelterBox Book Club), and helping to optimise the processes, systems and ways-of-working across the team.

The successful candidate will join a supportive and vibrant team in our mission to deliver best-in-class donor experiences and grow unrestricted income, inspiring UK individuals to become long term supporters of ShelterBox. Reporting to the Retention Manager this post will work flexibly across the Retention Team, working with the Retention Officer and Book Club Coordinator to deliver engaging supporter experience to our existing individual supporters.

Over the coming year ShelterBox is transitioning to a new CRM system (Dynamics 365), and the job holder will be involved in supporting team SMEs with set-up and user-testing the relevant functionalities on the new system, including configuration of campaigns and supporter journeys.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for a talented, well-organised individual with an interest in international aid, and who is keen to develop their fundraising experience.

The successful candidate will be practically-minded and methodical with great attention to detail – and ideally have a creative touch. They will be confident bringing their skills to a range of different tasks and projects.

They will be an able project manager, have excellent communication and numerical skills and be able to manage their varied workload to tight deadlines.

This role will suit someone who is keen to learn and is a natural communicator that can create meaningful relationships across the organisation as well as with external suppliers.

Duties will include but not be limited to:

· Proofing support with appeal copy and artwork, campaign and Book Club emails and our supporter engagement magazine.

· Working with the Retention Officer to create and update campaign reviews.

· Create engaging thank you letters for our appeals and engagement activities.

· Work alongside the Retention Manager to develop our existing supporter journeys. Creating new content where necessary and working with internal and external stakeholders to implement journey processes.

· Lead on the gift aid digital journey. Creating emails and landing page copy.

· Working alongside the Website team to create appeal page content, including creating relevant CRM coding, ensuring seamless integration with our CRM and reporting systems.

· Help develop fundraising materials by sourcing impactful photos and case studies from our internal asset library.

· Support the team with the transition to our new CRM system in 2025. Including user guide testing, journey creation etc.

· Be part of the data checking team, reviewing outgoing data files before they go to our print partners.

· Assist in the delivery of major disaster appeals.

- Supporting the delivery of reactivation, upgrade and engagement campaigns across Book Club and traditional audiences.

· Assist in Book Club social media content planning and creation, as well a community page moderation.

· Supporting with Book Club inbox.

· Supporting with ad hoc Book Club admin tasks.

· Working with the Book Club Coordinator and our Book Club volunteers to deliver virtual events and face-to-face club meetups for the Book Club community.

- Handle administrative tasks such as organising meetings, taking minutes and following up on agreed actions – ensuring that project documents, and plans are kept up to date.

· Ensure that Retention and Book Club invoice and PO logs are kept up to date.

· Keep up to date with developments in the fundraising sector, particularly in relation to best practice.

· Any other duties as deemed necessary to support the Retention team, including some out of office working hours during high profile disasters.

This 12 month project will help load accurate new and historic data onto our new CRM, MS Dynamics. You will work on designing new processes for importing current and ongoing financial transactions from our trusted suppliers. This will involve working with data and fundraising colleagues, selecting the most appropriate technology, writing the documentation, training others as well as ensuring accurate and timely loading of the data once live.   

In May we launched our new CRM Dynamics 365 with small data sets in a staggered approach working team by team. This post will support our fundraising team to ensure they have accurate and up-to-date supporter information, enabling timely communications with donors and precise monthly financial reconciliations.  

You will be a detail-oriented and self-motivated professional with proven experience in managing data imports and ETL processes. With strong data analysis skills and ideally experience of loading data into MS Dynamics, you understand how to transform data to support decision-making and ensure accurate financial reconciliations.
