The Lead of Grants and Programmes plays an integral role within the team to deliver impact to tens of thousands of dogs and cats around the world. The Lead will manage the team of expert grant managers, guiding and empowering them to achieve impact. 

The Lead will oversee several portfolios of work within the grants and programmes function at Battersea, as we expand our work to impact more dogs and cats. Over the coming five years, it is planned that the size and complexity of grant making, and other forms of programming will grow, including the establishment of several multi-year programmes in the UK and abroad. 

This is a senior role within the Grants and Programmes team in the Global Programmes Directorate, requiring excellent experience of people management, impact measurement, good grant making practice and implementing strategic programmes. 

The successful postholder should be comfortable empowering others, taking a coaching approach to team management and in supporting the team to shape proposals and portfolios of work to advance the collective interests of a team. They should also be comfortable working with considerable scope, and complexity and nurturing relationships with colleagues as an integral element of the role.

About this role

We are pleased to advertise for a Head of Death Penalty Projects- US to oversee our work against the death penalty in the United States of America. 

Reprieve has worked against the death penalty since our founding. In recent years we have built a particular specialism in issues relating to lethal injection, the most popular execution method in the US. Lethal injection has been touted as more humane than other methods – a modern, clean, clinical way to execute. This couldn’t be further from the truth. Lethal injection executions go wrong more often than any other execution method, often resulting in prolonged and torturous executions, commonly known as “botched” executions. Through our work we aim to dispel the myth of the humane execution, working with allies across medicine, business and other sectors to end the misuse of medicines and medical technology in executions.

The existing portfolio of work includes litigation, investigation and analysis, corporate engagement, a wide range of public and private advocacy, and developing and maintaining world-leading expertise on execution methods, particularly the jurisprudence and science relevant to lethal injection.

Contract, location and salary

The role is a full-time, permanent position with a salary of £59,226 per annum less any required deductions for tax and national insurance.Reprieve operates a hybrid working model and we require staff to work a minimum of 40% from the London office and the rest of the week from home. There is the opportunity for international travel in the role.

The Education & Training Manager will be responsible for grant managing the day-to-day aspects of commissioned Education and Training programmes.

An exciting position has arisen for a Major Donors Lead to join a renowned charity, dedicated to delivering social services and humanitarian aid to vulnerable individuals. This is a permanent role leading the Major Donors team and collaborating with the wider Philanthropy and Fundraising department to drive income growth for the charity.

Key responsibilities include:

• Developing and executing a 5-year strategy to increase major donor income, securing multi-year donations, and maintaining relationships with donors
• Building networks with potential supporters and influencers, identifying new prospects aligned with charity’s values
• Managing a portfolio of donors across the UK and Ireland, making significant donation requests (6 figure+) and tailoring proposals for projects, programs, and unrestricted funding
• Designing personalised stewardship programs to nurture long-term donor relationships, ensuring donors feel valued
• Managing a team of 6 fundraisers and overseeing income of approximately £2m
• Monitoring and reporting of income and managing expenditure and budgeting
• Ensuring compliance with regulations and legislation, such as GDPR, and maintaining best practices in fundraising

Ideal candidate profile:

• Extensive experience in major donor fundraising with a proven track record of securing 6-figure donations, increasing income streams, and achieving targets.
• Strong relationship management and emotional intelligence, effectively engaging senior donors and stakeholders.
• Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to influence and foster collaborative relationships.
• Skilled team leader with experience in building and leading high-performing teams.

The skills, experience, and attributes that you will bring to the role are:

• Qualifications: ACA, CIMA, or CIPFA qualification
• Experience: Advanced financial modelling, data visualisation, business partnering, audit processes, MS Office packages
• Desirable: Understanding of the independent school and charitable sector
• Commercial acumen, strong analytical skills, problem-solving, communication, presentation, attention to detail
• Personal attributes: Interest in the sector, integrity, discretion, approachability, collaboration, flexibility
