About the Role

Reporting to the Africa Finance Director, the post holder will be a key member of the Africa regional support team, with primary responsibility as business partner with country programs for conducting financial analysis and performance evaluations of commercial channels, highlight business area for improvement and especially on commercial channels analysis, sustainability on Core centers, maternity centers, social marketing, and any other business channels.

Head of Finance

The organisation is a global non-profit ministry focused on media evangelism and humanitarian aid. Their European HQ office is based in Hereford, UK. A compliance initiative was launched to help international offices operate in a safe and responsible manner concerning data protection, website security, and more. JOB OBJECTIVE:

Manage and lead all finance and accounting functions for the Europe region. Function as the Accounting Manager for the UK office, handling day-to-day accounting and financial reporting processes and supervising UK accounting staff. Supervise the Accounting Managers of all other Europe region offices. Responsible for cash management, insurance, budgeting, financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls for all Europe region offices.

DUTIES AND TASKS:

- Oversee day-to-day accounting and internal control activities of the UK office and all Europe offices.
- Travel to each Europe office and meet regularly on Teams with Accounting Managers.
- Provide regular training to accounting staff.
- Ensure compliance with government regulations and required filings in each country, OFAC and FCPA.
- Ensure compliance with all finance policies and procedures.

- Manage all treasury activities including accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, petty cash, and travel advances.
- Responsible for the full monthly accounting cycle, recording all transactions accurately in QuickBooks, and providing required financial reports to International Finance.
- Work with National Directors and UK department managers to develop annual budgets.
- Review monthly budget variances and provide variance notes.
- Maintain up-to-date fund accounting cash flow projections.
- Review financial performance and provide strategic recommendations to the Regional Director.
- Manage the purchasing process ensuring required preapprovals and quotes are obtained.
- Manage the donation receiving and receipt process.
- Manage finance-related sales activities of all Europe entities, ensuring appropriate administration in line with local tax and reporting laws and requirements.
- Track royalties, license fees, and other sales income, maintaining a library of all distribution and sales agreements.
- Process monthly payroll, remit all tax payments, and complete tax filings including VAT, Gift Aid, and any other non-payroll tax filings.
- Maintain fixed asset inventory.
- Engage qualified external auditors to prepare annual audited financial statements for all Europe offices.
- Schedule and prepare documents for annual general meetings and board of director meetings.
- Identify risks and obtain necessary competitively priced insurance for proper risk management.
- Provide recommendations, improve systems and procedures in line with local accounting laws, initiating corrective actions.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

- Ten or more years of experience in accounting, including five years in a management role.

Reporting to the Finance Director, the post holder will work closely with members of the senior management team to facilitate the smooth operation of Rock UK’s finances. Job Description 

The Finance Manager is responsible for the management and technical support of the Finance function and acts as advisor to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and assists in the development of the organisation’s financial strategy, modelling new projects, preparing budgets and reporting on financial performance. 

You will also be responsible for maintaining accounts on Xero and all related bookkeeping tasks.

Main duties and responsibilities

• Responsibility for bookkeeping on the organisation’s accounting system (Xero);

• Preparation of accurate and timely monthly management accounts for the organisation and individual cost centres, including variance analysis and reports for the Board. This information should include a short narrative on the current position, future prospects, and financial risks and opportunities. The reports will be tailored as necessary for the Board and management; 

• Provide robust financial information including accurate balance sheets and a rolling cash flow forecast; 

• Act as key point of contact for project budget holders on financial matters;

• Carry out regular reviews of spending under various grants, alerting budget holders and CEO to any actual or potential over or underspend;

• Work with CEO and managers on fundraising bids and financial reports for funders;

• Produce statutory accounts, files and schedules, in partnership with the3million’s accounting firm; 

• Monitor records of all funding and funding sources and the appropriate allocation of incoming funding;

• Monitor monthly accrual of income and expenditure, deferral of income, maintenance of reconciliation to Xero, balance sheet changes and undertake bank reconciliations;

• Monitor the accounts mailbox and ensure invoices are included in the accounting system, answering internal and external queries as they arise;

• Act as main point of contact with banks, service providers, suppliers (when appropriate) and auditors;

• Other duties as requested by the CEO.

Person Specification

The post requires the holder to:

• Have an appropriate accounting qualification – in full or part (AAT, ICAEW, CIMA or ACCA);

• Have a minimum of three years of professional experience, including experience of operating within a not-for-profit organisation (managing accounts for restricted and unrestricted funds);

• Be proficient in Xero Online accounting software and Excel spreadsheets, including experience in using Power Query;

• Be comfortable with the financial systems typical of a small organisation, including financial monitoring and reporting to a range of different funding sources;

• Have some experience of projects finances and understand the financial implications behind an efficient delivery strategy;

• Be honest and reliable;

• Ability to work on own initiative when appropriate and seek guidance when necessary;

The Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) is exclusively partnering with Robertson Bell, in our search for a Head of Finance to join our team on a permanent basis. GWEC’s mission is to ensure that wind power establishes itself as the answer to today’s energy challenges, providing substantial environmental and economic benefits.

The Head of Finance is a new role which supports the growth of the global finance team in line with the rapid organisational growth and spread internationally. The Head of Finance role shall provide financial leadership, alongside the CFO, through proactive engagement with each business unit vertical, robust support, monitoring and challenge of financial decision-making in context of plans and strategic directives informing key decisions across the Global Organisation.

The organisation:

We are a high-profile non-profit organisation and trade association leading the international clean energy transition as the world seeks to stay within 1.5c global warming target. We have innovative programmes and collaborations promoting sustainable offshore and onshore wind development, mentoring women working in wind industry, education and energy access. 

GWEC are a Belgium registered association with subsidiary companies and offices in the UK, India, China, Portugal, Singapore, UAE and Vietnam and a global staff of around 75. We have grown our revenue five times in as many years and have bold growth plans over the next decade as we seek the urgent scale up of wind and clean energy in new and existing markets. We have over 20 live grants of up to $4m in value to support our work, particularly in the regional focus markets such as Southeast Asia.

The key duties of this Head of Finance are as follows:

• Prepare annual global organisation budgets by entity, business unit and project.
• Prepare multi-year forecasts and financial plans built on known and likely projects, activities, expected growth and blue-sky scenarios.
• Prepare regular financial performance reports for the Executive Committee and Board.
• Have critical oversight of the global results consolidation.
• Lead the Global Finance team with 3 direct reports and outsourced local relationships for each office jurisdiction.
• Prepare quarterly global and entity forecasts and supervise cashflow.
• Hold oversight of global fiscal and tax compliance.
• Plan, forecast and monitor recovery of funds from grant funded projects.
• Promote the visibility of financial data and outputs to stakeholders through continuous improvement and integration of finance and related systems and processes.
• Deputise for the CFO on Financial matters at Senior Management Team and Executive Committee meetings as required.

The successful candidate will have:

• Qualified as an Accountant: ACA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent.
• Non-profit experience, particularly with grants and project financial reporting.
• International experience – ideally at HQ group level (non-profit or commercial) demonstrating an understanding of cultural and logistical challenges.
• Excellent FP&A experience, including modelling, budgeting and forecasting.
• Experience of managing a finance team.
• Experience providing a proactive partnering role to business operations, especially in ensuring achievement of budgets
• The willingness to travel internationally to other GWEC offices on an infrequent basis.

Candidates must live within a commutable distance from our offices in Southwick, Brighton, although opportunities to work from home will be on offer for 3-4 days per week.

BCPC is a registered charity and not-for profit organisation which has been training counsellors and psychotherapists since 1984. BCPC has over 500 graduates. It is based in central Bath and serves the Southwest of England.

BCPC has three core purposes:

• To provide excellent training for adult learners in Listening and Foundational Skills, Counselling and Psychotherapy and opportunities for personal and professional growth and development through a range of training experiences
• To provide counselling and psychotherapy services for the public through the BCPC Referral Service and through our low-cost counselling services available to those with low income, through our student placement service.
• To provide a professional community for its graduate membership.

Recruitment of a Finance Manager

Our current Finance Manager is leaving us after 10 years, and we are seeking to appoint an engaged, ambitious and strategic Finance Manager with strong interpersonal, management and communications skills to play a key role, ensuring BCPC’s continued growth and success. 

As the Finance Manager, you will be responsible for all aspects of finance within BCPC. The role will work closely with the Director to ensure the long-term financial health and stability of the organisation.  This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to make a difference and play a key role within the organisation.
