Overview:

Following the successful application of a National Lottery award, we are seeking two dedicated and compassionate Peer Support Group Development Officers to set up and sustain local peer support groups for people living with and affected by prostate cancer. These roles focus on building on our established networks to expand peer support in defined areas, facilitating group formation, and enhancing service delivery through strategic outreach and resource development.

This role offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of individuals living with and affected by prostate cancer, providing crucial support through community-based initiatives. Key Responsibilities:

• Group formation and support: Oversee the setup and operation of 10-12 self-sustaining and independent peer support groups within your assigned region across the lifetime of the three-year project. Ensure smooth delivery, monitoring, and evaluation of group activities. Support existing group leaders and organisers to reach more people living with and affected by prostate cancer with tools and resources.
• Volunteer Coordination: Recruit, train, and support volunteer Support Group Leaders. Assist in the co-production of training materials and resources, aimed at creating self-sustainable groups.
• Community Engagement: Conduct outreach to map existing support services and facilitate the integration of these services with the peer support groups. Host local engagement events to boost volunteer recruitment.
• Data and Case Management: Use a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system to support high-quality volunteer and case management, ensuring accurate data collection to support service outcomes.
• Training and Development: Develop and deliver tailored training programmes for volunteers based on the specific needs of Group Leaders and Organisers. Set up regional forums for sharing best practices and peer networking. Encourage use of Members Portal to share good practice.
• Documentation and Compliance: Ensure compliance with Best Practice Guidance document. Ensure adherence to safeguarding policies to maintain safe governance of peer support groups.

Skills and Qualities Required:

• Strong Facilitation and Communication Skills: Ability to engage effectively with diverse groups. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
• Project Management: Proven skills in managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders. Ability to meet deadlines and manage a varied workload.
• Volunteer Management: Experience in recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers in community settings. Knowledge of best practices in volunteer management.
• Influencing: Experience of influencing a wide range of partners and stakeholders, and in particular clinicians and voluntary and community providers within the health and wellbeing community.
• Community Development: Experience of developing and delivering community services with a range of stakeholders, including health and social care workers, commissioners, local authority and community and voluntary partners.
• Data-Driven Approach: Experience with data collection and CRM systems and a commitment to data-driven service evaluation.
• Community Sensitivity: Experience collaborating with people with a lived experience of cancer or other long-term conditions. Ability to understand and empathise with community needs.
• Administrative: Strong administration and IT skills to maintain accurate records and documentation.
• Safeguarding Knowledge: A good understanding of safeguarding practices, particularly concerning vulnerable populations.

Educational Qualifications:

• Relevant qualification or experience in Community Development, Psychology, Public Health, or a related field is preferred.

Salary information: 

Hybrid working in London: £32,682 per year, increasing to £33,600 after 6 months and £34,493 after 12 months  

Homebased (with regular travel to London): £29,453 per year, increasing to £30,267 after 6 months and £31,054 after 12 months

Main purpose of the post

Fixed term or secondment 2 years, 35 hours a week

Location: We are recruiting for 2 positions, one in the North Region and one in the South Region. The North Region covers the whole of Manchester and Stoke on Trent. The other will be situated in the South Region covering Norwich, East Anglia and North London. This role involves engaging with our retail shops in these areas, so it is important that you are willing and able to travel within these regions on a daily basis.

The role 

As Community Energy Engagement Adviser, you will be empowering individuals and families through workshops and one-to-one support. You will train retail staff and volunteers to engage with individuals and families, with a particular emphasis on energy advice and support.

The service will help customers through their unfair extra costs and additional vulnerability to fuel poverty. 

The successful candidate must pass an Enhanced DBS check

You will:

• Plan and deliver training for retail staff and volunteers on energy support.

• Work with local organisations to reach those needing energy advice.

• Create and share information on energy saving, bill management, and renewable energy benefits.

Since 1987, Waverley Abbey College has equipped Christians for their vocations with skills in spiritual formation, mental health and wellbeing, and leadership. We are now one of the largest providers of Christian Counselling qualifications in Europe and are fast becoming the leading provider of Chaplaincy training in the UK – all while maintaining both academic rigour and an outstanding level of student satisfaction.

We are looking for an experienced registrar to help manage the registry office and to ensure the team continues to provide excellent service to the college and its stakeholders, as well as effective liaison with and information provision to partner institutions and statutory bodies.

Key Tasks

• Support the Academic Registrar in managing the student journey through their programme of study, including requests for extensions, interruption, withdrawal and other changes including student progression. Responding to all queries by phone, email and face to face
• Liaise closely with the Student Finance, Academic Administration, Student
• Services teams and other functional areas within Waverley Abbey Trust including academic staff, Resources and HR
• Set up and take minutes of all Academic meetings

 
University and College Regulations

• Maintain an understanding of the validating university’s and Waverley Abbey  College’s policies and regulations and check college and student compliance
• Contribute to university audits and programme validation/revalidation as required

Assessments and Progression Boards

• Assist the Academic Registrar in administering Moodle and maintain accuracy of the marking system and data, including release of grades to students and capture of results into student management system
• Prepare assessment information and associated documents for the External Examiners and assist with producing grade sheets for Assessment and Progression Boards
• Notify students of Assessment Board results and prepare award documents
• Liaise with college staff during graduation periods to ensure all eligible students are included

General

• Onboard students, including registering students with the university
• Ensure that all reports and data produced by the department are accurate and produced in a timely manner
• Attend Waverley Abbey College meetings including Assessment Events such as Open Days and Evenings (maybe weekends) Discovery Days and Graduations
• Closely co-ordinate with student finance staff as needed
• Attend the Mitigation Panel and record outcomes, for relay to students
• Liaise with the Learning Support officer, programme leaders and tutors as required
• To undertake personal continuous professional development activities e.g. membership of relevant professional bodies, conferences, education and training
• Provide general assistance as required by the Academic Registrar and by the developing needs of the college
• Monitor student attendance
• Assist organisation of Graduation ceremonies
• Any other reasonable duties as requested by the postholder’s line manager

 
 To be successful in this role, you will have a good working knowledge of the Higher Education sector. You will have an understanding of the student-related academic cycle and administrative processes within Admissions and Registry as well as knowledge of Assessment and Grading systems. They will carry out a structured programme of activities and develop and run and develop Hopes social media. Job description:

1. Under the supervision of the director and other Hope staff to carry out a programme of activities and events such as:
   • Organising an in person event to thank Hope supporters
   • Designing and carrying out a winter fundraising appeal
   • Contributing to online and in person campaigns run by Hope partners such as Asylum Matters and Together with Refugees
   • Managing and developing Hopes social media, currently facebook and X (twitter). This will include creating content with Hope clients and recognising occasions such as Refugee Week, World Homelessness day and United Nations Day

Overall Duties of the Senior Supervising Social Worker will include:
