Data and Insight Analyst

Salary: £33,410 to £36,009 per annum

About the role

We are looking for someone who has a passion for working with data, and providing business intelligence that leads to action. If you love creating simple ways to explain complex data, and are excited by revealing the stories hidden within the data, then this could be the role for you.

Your main focus will be to provide reporting and research for our fundraising and marketing initiatives, helping to create a clear view of our marketing directorate performance. You will work closely with colleagues and key stakeholders to understand business intelligence requirements, scope out projects and deliver reporting to agreed specifications.

You will work closely with colleagues to ensure that reporting is used and a data-driven culture established. The outputs from your work will lead to insight that supports strategy development, and future investment decisions. Some projects will focus on other areas of organisational data, such as measuring our impact, or our financial model, as required.

Ideally, the successful candidate will have proven experience in analysing data and producing reporting, ideally using some advanced techniques for data extraction and manipulation (such as SQL) and a modern data visualisation tool (such as Power BI or Tableau). Full training will be provided, to enable the postholder to develop into a fully rounded data analyst, including training in the maintenance and development of our in-house data warehouse. 

About you

We are looking for a pro-active self starter, who has a passion for working with data and a hunger to learn. You will be patient and methodical in your work, and be able to focus both on the technical aspects of data analysis and reporting, and also understand the strategic thinking that your work will contribute to.

You’ll be great at building relationships with stakeholders, and be comfortable in communicating complex information through a variety of means. 

Your work will help to ensure that we maximise efficiency in our fundraising programmes, and as such you’ll be comfortable challenging the status quo, and making suggestions for how we might change, as we look to continuously improve.

Key Working Relationships

The successful candidate will work closely with all colleagues from within the Marketing Directorate, IT, Finance, Fundraising, and potentially all areas of Practical Action here there may be reporting needs.

External relationships with consultants/agencies, and third party software suppliers.

Accountabilities:

• To contribute towards the development and production of a large and complex portfolio of reports, produced by the Data and Insight Team. 
• To work closely with colleagues to embed reporting into day-to-day work, encouraging a data-driven and evidence-based approach to decision making.
• To work with the Senior Data Services Analyst, Data and Insight Manager and IT, to develop our data structures and architecture, enabling a robust data model and real-time reporting.
• Develop our use of Power BI, our data visualisation tool of choice, keeping up to date with latest reporting technologies and proposing changes and enhancements to such software where appropriate.
• To work with colleagues across the marketing directorate and wider Organisation to understand business intelligence requirements, scope out projects and deliver reporting to agreed specifications, presenting complex information through a variety of means.   
• To work with marketing audience strategists and the Data and Insight Manager in the commissioning and production of research, and contribute to statistical modelling projects.
• To propose and pro-actively undertaking supporter analysis with the aim of promoting efficiencies and value for money within fundraising campaigns.
• Play a key role in strategic projects, as required, acting as a subject matter expert for data, covering a range of topics, such as supporter journey mapping, process documentation / re-design, software implementation to name just a few.
• Conducting marketing data selections, to provide fundraising colleagues with carefully curated data which will power marketing campaigns.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience

Essential

Churches Conservation Trust (CCT) is the national charity caring for historic churches at risk. As the operator of the third largest heritage estate in charitable ownership in the UK, our 356 historic churches include examples of irreplaceable architecture, archaeology and art from 1,000 years of English history.

Sound & Art at St Swithun’s

Sound & Art at St Swithun’s (SASS) is a £2.8M Heritage Lottery Funded project, to create an arts space in the heart of Worcester city centre. The Grade I listed church has been transformed through conservation and adaptation, giving it a new lease of life. SASS launched in late October 2022.

The Eve Appeal is the UK’s leading charity working on prevention of the five gynaecological cancers – womb, ovarian, cervical, vulval and vaginal. Our aim is to prevent gynaecological cancers and save lives by raising awareness and funding ground-breaking research focused on risk prediction, earlier detection and developing screening for all of the five gynae cancers.

Harris Hill has an amazing opportunity for an experienced Government Affairs Manager to join an environmental based charity in London, starting September and running until Easter 2025.

The Government Affairs Managerwill be part of a small team, which leads on government relations, engagement and influence, and whose impact will be critical in the delivery of their corporate strategy.

The role will contribute to the delivery of a comprehensive, proactive engagement strategy to ensure that stakeholders across UK government recognise the expertise and reach of the organisation, and see them as a valuable partner and ‘go to’ organisation for support, policy advice and public engagement.

The post holder will work to reflect their contribution to Defra and wider government priorities, increasing their visibility and strengthening their messaging. The postholder will shape the production of materials, development of events and reports as needed, as well as the itineraries of visits by ministers and MPs.

To help us in this next phase of development we are recruiting for a newly created position – Senior Communications Manager. This exciting role sits within our national team and will lead the ongoing development and delivery of Thrive at Five’s external communications, ensuring we can reach and engage with a diverse range of audiences from national early years influencers to parents in our regional sites. The role will have two main areas of focus: 1) National communications: establishing Thrive at Five’s national presence to influence policy, funding and practices and attract future partners (funders, future pathfinder areas and other strategic partners); 2) Regional Communications; work with our local backbone teams to deliver a communications strategy which supports our two strategic drivers; 1) to build relationships and strengthen understanding of the early years with key professional stakeholders, and 2) to reach local parents to build their knowledge, confidence and skills and encourage them to take up support on offer.

You will have solid strategic communications experience, with an excellent track record in developing and executing innovative communications plans. You will be comfortable working in a fast paced environment and committed to the need for continued learning and improvement necessary for Thrive at Five to develop a new place-based model for supporting early childhood development. The successful candidate will bring experience of managing a broad range of stakeholders and supporting a network of partners and will be adept at managing and coaching staff, with the ability to upskill team members. You will also have excellent organisational and project management skills. It would be beneficial to have experience of working nationally with engagement across local teams, and ideally with good experience of how to best utilise digital communications.

The Individual Giving & Acquisitions Lead is a new role in their Marketing & Communications team. The postholder will play a key role in developing and delivering the Individual Giving Programme to drive income growth, engage new audiences and retain existing supporters. This role would suit a candidate looking to harness their skill set in direct marketing and use their ability to create new fundraising products to set up an Individual Giving Programme from scratch, with support from the Head of Marketing & Communications.

Key Responsibilities:
 

• Lead on creating and implementing a strategy to support the development of a new Individual Giving and Acquisition Programme in collaboration with the Head of Marketing & Communications.
• Plan, develop and implement a range of direct marketing campaigns to support the acquisition of new donors and the retention of existing supporters, ensuring that all campaigns are managed effectively and delivered on time and within budget.
• Deliver personalised and tailored content to increase engagement with existing and new supporters.
• Enhance supporter journeys by using data insights to develop segmentation and improve targeting for IG activities.
• To effectively manage the end-to-end creative process from inception to execution of direct marketing campaigns.
• Working with the database manager, report on post-campaign data analysis to evaluate effectiveness and understand ROI.
• Working with the Head of Marketing & Communications to deliver an excellent supporter experience across all communications and fundraising activity, working with colleagues to ensure consistency with other fundraising programmes.

• Proven track record of DM campaign management experience.
