Do you have a good understanding of housing and homeless, along with leadership and management experience? Then join Shelter as a Service Manager and you could soon be playing a key role in standing up to the housing emergency in the Sheffield area.
About the role
You will be one of two Service Managers in Shelter Sheffield and the two postholders work closely together in this varied and complex role. Reporting to the Strategic Lead, you will deputise for them when necessary and will lead on delivering our services, line-managing Team Leaders and designated functions. Your role will be to ensure that the service delivery meets high quality standards, is delivered safely and is contract compliant. Overseeing the monitoring and reporting of our work, you will have delegated financial responsibility and work closely with partners, commissioners, and other stakeholders in the city to ensure that our services are aligned and impactful.
You will also ensure that we are identifying and addressing the systemic issues at play and which underly clients’ presenting need. This is a key role in linking up Shelter’s national campaigning and policy work with local activity and insight, ensuring that we co-produce our activities and involve people with lived experience fully in our work.
About You
You have sound knowledge of homelessness, housing and related issues, with leadership skills and experiencing of supporting and managing teams. You can demonstrate experience of managing contracts, partnerships or services as well as budgets and are able to develop and sustain key relationships which benefit local priorities. Experienced in change management, you will be able to analyse insight and evidence to manage and improve performance, as well as being able to work with policies relating to safeguarding, health and safety and data protection.

Shelter Sheffield provide housing advice and support to people across the city with a focus on emergency homelessness, intensive support for children and families, people experiencing domestic abuse and with multiple and complex needs. We take a holistic approach to help them deal with interrelated issues that can impact their ability to keep a home and help over 5000 people a year while also working to change the underlying systems that cause the housing emergency.

Help us to maximise the income of Mind Cymru and Local Minds in Wales receive from institutional fundraising activities, especially statutory tenders.
The post-holder will support our Head of Federation Innovation (Wales) on all aspects of the fundraising life-cycle including maintaining our opportunity tracker and pipeline, producing business intelligence reports, drafting compelling proposals and applications, and building positive stakeholder relationships with Local Minds in Wales, as well as funders and our central fundraising teams.

Community Support Officer - Scotland (and Northern Ireland)

We are looking for a Community Support Officer to successfully continue this work in Scotland and Northern Ireland. Please note that there will be a requirement to travel between Scotland and Northern Ireland up to three times a year.
This post will be home-based in Scotland with frequent travel within the region including Northern Ireland, occasional travel around UK for attendance at events, plus travel approximately three times a year to Head Office Stroud, Gloucestershire.
As a centre of expertise for after-care and support, we have established successful community support for those impacted by meningitis. By providing tailored regional support and information we help those affected by meningitis to feel more informed, less isolated, and more empowered to manage the impact of the disease.
What we’re looking for
- To manage an active case load, predominantly supporting those living in Scotland and Northern Ireland.
- To offer a listening ear, emotional support and practical information to those you support.
- To respond to new enquiries and referrals within an agreed timeframe.
- To provide equitable support using a variety of face-to-face, telephone, email, video calls and social media channels.
- To identify the support needs of those affected by meningitis.
- To signpost and refer individuals to services offered by third party partners and organisations where appropriate, and to support access to these third-party services.
- To lead on and organise virtual and face-to-face support events according to the wider operational plan and charity objectives.
- To support those affected by meningitis to access the charity’s support services such as the Rebuilding Futures Fund, Peer Support Groups, Support Events, and Believe and Achieve Programme.
- To moderate membership and content of Meningitis Now’s online peer support forums, creating a supportive and inclusive environment for members and providing occasional out of hours cover.
- To work with the Believe and Achieve Programme Co-ordinator to offer joint support to family members when needed.
- To actively reach out to those who may not be aware of the charity’s support services and explain the opportunities available.
- To build relationships with education, health and social care professionals and regional partner organisations, to encourage awareness of and referrals into our support services.
- To deliver relevant meningitis and support information to education, health and social care professionals, family, friends, workplaces and colleagues to help support people to manage the impact of meningitis.
- To attend professional meetings where appropriate to help support people e.g. education support meetings, meetings with employers.
- To provide accurate and up-to-date information about meningitis, recovery and after-effects.

Board Member – Finance

The opportunity
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated candidate to join our Housing team at Standing Together. If you are someone who shares our passion to improve the lives of those experiencing the sharpest end of multiple disadvantage then we would love to hear from you.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our Multiple Disadvantage and Homelessness programme. The programme was set up in 2017 in response to the gap in provision for meeting the unique needs of women experiencing domestic abuse, homelessness and other forms of multiple disadvantage. By ‘Multiple Disadvantage’ we are referring to those with cooccurring experiences of homelessness, substance misuse, interpersonal violence and abuse and poor mental health (Gender Matters). We recognise that multiple disadvantage is a systemic, not an individual issue; structural inequality creates the conditions in which experiences of poverty, abuse, trauma and neglect intersect. In addition, disadvantage is further compounded by systemic discrimination based on concepts of identity, such as age, gender, ethnicity, sexuality, disability, religion, or belief. There are currently three funded projects that make up
the programme, that are united by a common purpose:
We work across sectors to educate organisations around the needs of survivors of abuse and other forms of Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) who experience homelessness and severe and multiple disadvantage.
We work to highlight the structural barriers this group face in accessing services and support and build a coordinated community response to domestic abuse, VAWG and multiple disadvantage.
We work to change the systems that create and reinforce multiple disadvantage in the lives of survivors of domestic abuse and VAWG by supporting organisations to pilot and embed new approaches and by engaging with policy and commissioning at both the local and national level.
We are looking for someone with direct experience of working with women impacted by multiple disadvantage, who can draw on this experience to lead on the delivery of programme workstreams, in particular our Housing First work and partnership work with Westminster Council Changing Futures project around VAWG and multiple disadvantage. You will have strong project management skills and experience and the flexibility to work across multiple workstreams at once.
We are looking for a creative and passionate, motivated, and engaging person who can build and maintain strong partnerships with a range of stakeholders, and advocate for women and survivors of domestic abuse impacted by multiple disadvantage across sectors and at the highest level. At STADA we know a coordinated community response to domestic abuse, VAWG and multiple disadvantage is essential to enable women and survivors to access the housing and support that they need, and to change the systems that reinforce suffering and discrimination for this cohort. We are a national charity bringing communities together to end domestic abuse. Standing Together pioneered the Coordinated Community Response (CCR) approach in the UK, a multi-agency partnership model for keeping survivors safe and holding abusers to account.
