About the role

An exciting role to deliver a tailored package of support that will help Reigate and Banstead Council to increase levels of active travel in the area. You will engage with schools, workplaces, and communities to support and enable more people to walk, wheel, cycle and scoot for local everyday journeys, instead of taking the car. 

As the Project Officer, you will plan and deliver fun, innovative and engaging activities such as mapping safe routes, leading rides and walks, practical skills sessions, competitions, initiatives and information events. The range of activities, events and resources will be adapted to meet the needs of the different audiences and will be designed to be inclusive so as many people as possible can benefit from the project and more local journeys can be travelled actively. 

This role will require you to work with a range of people across local and diverse communities, workplaces and schools in Reigate and Banstead. Creating relationships with key people and employers, understanding the barriers, challenges and opportunities to actively travel. You will be working closely with others to develop a programme of activities.

You will have the opportunity to give people confidence, enthusiasm and skills to travel more actively, through events and community activities. 

You will build and manage internal and external relationships with key people such as school or community travel champions, local authority colleagues and other Sustrans delivery officers. 

Within the role, there will be an expectation to capture the impact of the project through completing reporting and monitoring, writing case studies, capturing quotes and photos and contributing to an end of project report. 

This role will require travel and work at locations as necessary to undertake projects on behalf of Sustrans.

About you

You should have experience of working with children and young people within a community setting and delivering physical activities to groups. Your knowledge of the local area will help you form relationships with a wide range of organisations, groups, and individuals.

You will be a self-motivated and solution driven individual used to working independently as well as part of a team, with the ability to plan and prioritise your workload.

About the Role

We are recruiting a Standards Officer to join our small and friendly Standards team.

The role of the Standards function is to monitor newspaper, magazine and digital publishers’ compliance with the Editors’ Code of Practice and to take action to address concerns about editorial standards, including by undertaking investigations into serious standards failures as necessary. It’s a busy team that coordinates closely with others at IPSO and outside the organisation, engaging with members of the public, journalists, and experts on a wide variety of subjects. Some recent issues that the standards team has worked on are reporting of sexual offences, suicide, major incidents, and domestic abuse.

As the Standards Officer, you will carry out a range of tasks, including analysing information drawn from complaints received by IPSO, supporting the annual statements process and engaging with a range of representative groups who have concerns about press reporting. You will work closely with the Head of Standards and other colleagues across IPSO.

About You

This is a role for someone who is interested in news and journalism, has excellent communication and analytical skills, and enjoys working with others to achieve a shared purpose. Candidates who demonstrate relevant experience will be given an opportunity to demonstrate their skills through a written exercise prior to short-listing for interview. This means that we can measure candidates’ relevant skills directly and make a fairer decision on which applications to take forward.

Role Summary

An exciting opportunity has become available for a talented and enthusiastic Philanthropy Officer to join a high performing and friendly fundraising team.

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and organized Philanthropy Officer who will support the Head of Corporate, Philanthropy & Events to secure and increase income through the charity’s Major Donor strategy.

The post holder will support with developing a robust pipeline of prospects and will be responsible for managing a portfolio of new and existing major donor relationships. You will be creative and analytical and provide first class research, administration, relationship management and database skills and provide excellent donor stewardship.

Principal responsibilities include:

• Research and identify potential major donors to build a strong list of prospects, matching against key fundraising priorities, to maximise opportunities and build a healthy prospect pipeline.
• Work with Head of Corporate, Philanthropy & Events to prepare and implement creative donor cultivation and stewardship plans to secure new donors and develop current relationships, including:
  • Creative cases for support with associated budgets.
  • Adapting information for specific donors using different approaches for different audiences.
  • Developing engaging thank you letters and reports. 
• Manage an agreed portfolio of major donor relationships and prospects, with the support of Head of Corporate, Philanthropy & Events, through excellent stewardship and tailored fundraising proposals.
• Take a lead role in development and implementation of a patron and celebrity stewardship plan.
• Provide timely and high-quality updates to donors on the charity’s activities and impact and value of gifts. Work with the Communications team to ensure that major donor supporters receive engaging and relevant marketing materials.

Lady Margaret Hall is seeking a motivated, confident and passionate Donor Relations Officer to join the Development Team and ensure we deliver excellent stewardship to our donors.

This appointment is a fixed-term contract to cover a period of maternity leave. Hours and days are negotiable. The Development Team are hybrid working with three days per week based in the office. The position includes some out of hours work for event attendance for which TOIL will be given.

The post-holder will play a key role within the Development team, maintaining the integrity of the College’s alumni database that underpins every aspect of the team’s work. The post holder will shape and deliver the College’s prospect research strategy, managing the prospect pipeline and supporting the fundraising programme.

Key Responsibilities

• Update, enhance and improve the alumni database (Raiser’s Edge) on a regular basis, ensuring that information is entered consistently, accurately and in a timely fashion.
• Maintain the integrity of the database, including importing and exporting data to/from RE, managing and uploading current student and alumni data from the central University database (CamSIS), College publication returns, the internet and other updates.
• Liaise with Cambridge University Development & Alumni Relations (CUDAR) on a regular basis to exchange updated alumni details. 
• Work with the Director and Deputy Director to manage the prospect pipeline, including conducting initial research into potential supporters.
• Produce detailed alumni profiles and briefings for the Director of Development and the Master for key meetings and events.
• Accurately record all gifts, pledges and legacies on the database and ensure procedures are effective and up-to-date.
• Ensure Gift Aid agreements are correctly recorded and renewed as appropriate. 
• Prepare donors’ lists for Governing Body, Council and relevant College publications.
• Work alongside the Deputy Development Director to complete the Annual Development Questionnaire (ADQ).
• Conduct research to find lost alumni and re-establish contact via new address and email details. 
• Deal with returned mail in a timely and organised manner, and with email “unsubscribes” and bounce-backs.
• Handle the notification of deceased members by recording information on the database, liaising with family members regarding obituaries for inclusion in the College Magazine. 
• Help devise new systems and processes to enable the work of the office to be carried out with ever greater efficiency and effectiveness.

The above is not an exhaustive list of duties. The post-holder may be asked to take on different tasks as required, and all employees are expected to work collaboratively to support the overall work of the College.

As Crisis’ Media Officer, you will play a key role in securing impactful media coverage that inspires the public and politicians to join our fight to end homelessness by raising awareness of our influencing campaigns and fundraising events. You will help to build Crisis’ profile by bringing to life our work, demonstrating how we end people’s homelessness for good through education, training and support with housing, employment, and health.

Your role will be creative and varied. You’ll work with our frontline staff to identify people facing homelessness who want to share their stories and empower them to do so. At Crisis we always champion the voices and experiences of the people who we support. You’ll help create bold and hard-hitting news stories to engage our audiences and bring to life some of our biggest organisational campaigns, like our annual Christmas appeal. You will also help make the most of reactive opportunities that come through to our press office and help build relationships with key journalists. 

About you 

You will have: 

• Experience of working within a busy press office environment/ PR agency or as a journalist. 

• Experience of supporting with or delivering impactful media campaigns or stories that have helped secure quality coverage in national and regional news outlets, as well as softer consumer features.

• Excellent writing skills, with the ability to craft engaging copy for a range of audiences, including political, consumer, tabloid, trade and everything in between. 

• Experience of working with case studies, identifying and preparing stories for the media and empowering people to share their experiences.

• Strong news sense, with a good working knowledge of the UK media, including digital media production, with experience of creating digital first coverage and amplifying campaign messages creatively in the digital sphere.

What to expect in a fundraising role?

The Fundraising Officer role is a fast-paced and rewarding role where no two weeks will look the same.

A typical day will have different meetings, priorities and team projects. Corporate and University partnerships often involve supporting several different areas of a business or university with varying content, ideas and stewardship, including hosting supporters at our learning centres. Each fundraising area meets regularly to discuss challenges, new ideas and improvements, and the broader fundraising team meets monthly to reflect on progress to date and plan for the rest of the year ahead.

About the Role

We are seeking to recruit a creative and ambitious Fundraising and Communications Officer.

As our reach and impact has increased significantly in recent years, so has our income, and this new role has been created in response to that demand.  This is an exciting opportunity for a fundraiser who wants to widen, or consolidate, their knowledge and experience of fundraising, in an international context, as well as gain communications experience.

We are a very small team so the role will cover a breadth of funding streams, with a particular focus on Trusts and Foundations, High Value Donors, and Events, both special and community.  It is therefore important that you have excellent writing and interpersonal skills, and solid experience of crafting successful funding applications.  You will also need excellent planning and organisational skills.

• Steward, retain and grow the support of our existing donor portfolio: KHULA has an existing portfolio of donors including trusts, foundations, corporates, major donors, individual and regular givers, the majority of whom are based in the UK or South Africa. Alongside the Director of Fundraising and Communications, the post holder will be responsible for managing these relationships, including bespoke reporting for trusts and major donors and taking responsibility for their own portfolio of donors.
• Donor prospecting and new business: researching and generating new donor leads as well as acting on opportunities provided by our Board and others, converting prospects into supporters of our programmes.
• ​​External communications: working alongside the Director of Fundraising and Communications, assisting in the creation of our quarterly e-newsletter and the Annual Report, managing our social media channels, in addition to other ad hoc external communications.
• Events: supporting our community and events fundraisers and assisting with the organisation of occasional special events, alongside Board members.
• Fundraising innovation: assisting in the development of creative campaigns to increase donations/recruit lapsed donors, developing products and offerings.
• Financial management and admin: maintaining our donor database and contributing to fundraising budgets and forecasts. 

Person Specification

Experience of working in a smaller charity and team is beneficial as this is a very hands-on role, covering a wide range of responsibilities.

• A proven, demonstrable track record of submitting successful funding applications.
