The role 

National Energy Action (NEA) has recently secured funding to develop a new pilot project that aims to help local people reduce their heating bills, create healthier homes, and be ready for the transition to net zero.  Over 2 years, a local retrofit hub will be established in 3 different locations, each with 2 members of staff who will help build trust, provide guidance and support, harness opportunities, and empower local people to achieve and benefit from change.  The key will be to work at the heart of the community to encourage / support / enable householders to take up existing grants for energy efficiency measures but in addition, practical (funded) assistance will be available to enable retrofit works and to offer additional non-funded support as necessary.  As well as the important benefits to participating households, this demonstration project will provide valuable insight into the attitudes of low-income householders towards energy efficiency improvements, highlighting challenges and barriers to retrofitting energy efficiency measures into the homes of those who need it most.  NEA intends to utilise the knowledge gained (positives and negatives) to inform and influence those who make the decisions and design key national energy efficiency campaigns. 

The Local Retrofit Support Officer will be one of two staff based in, and working to establish, a new local retrofit hub in Sheffield. We are also recruiting for a Local Retrofit Co-ordination Officer in the same location (job ref R70). The Local Retrofit Support Officer will assist householders to apply for energy efficiency retrofit measures and support them through the installation process providing impeccable customer service.  

As someone with proven practical technical experience, they will be responsible for monitoring the quality and standards of energy efficiency retrofit measures installed in our clients’ homes and, on behalf of the client, will manage third party installers working on the property. In addition, it is expected that the Local Retrofit Support Officer will directly install some smaller interventions/measures which are yet to be confirmed. 

Working closely with the Local Retrofit Co-ordination Officer, they will also co-ordinate or deliver advice and events in the community to householders and/or others to raise awareness of retrofit practice and technologies as well as to inform and de-mystify. 

NEA’s Local Retrofit Support Officer role sits in the Directorate of Homes and will report to the Community Retrofit Project Manager. 

What you will need to succeed 

Local Retrofit Support Officers will have proven technical experience working in energy retrofit or similar relevant sector.  They will have a good understanding of community development and regeneration or housing sectors.  They will also be an excellent communicator with experience and understanding of how to effectively address the energy needs of low income, vulnerable or disadvantaged householders – with the desire to make a positive difference to people’s lives.

The role

As Community Coordinator, your role will focus on the growth and sustainability of the FareShare Go programme, through maximising relationships and adding value to create the best experience for our charity community. The successful candidate will be an exceptional communicator, with an approachable nature who will play a vital role in developing and maintaining charity and retailer relationships, plus raising awareness of FareShare Go across your local area. 

Main areas of responsibility

• Charity account management: You will carry out virtual calls and in person visits with new and existing charities, and be responsible for ensuring that coverage KPIs are reached and maintained for both new and existing retailers. Using your analysis of charity needs, plus your knowledge of retailer and store profiles, you will use these visits to maximise the offer to charities, ensuring the service meets their requirements. 
• Community Capacity Building: As part of the Building of relationships with charities, you will seek opportunities to enable and empower charities to increase their capacity and ability to take more food, to ultimately increase the redistribution of surplus food to those in need. 
• Sustainability and Compliance: You will work with your Regional Manager and team to identify stores where re-engagement activities are needed to improve charity coverage and charity compliance. You will work to maximise the amount of food collected by charities with lower levels of compliance. You will also be responsible for undertaking food safety reviews with charities to ensure compliance. 
• Retailer Engagement: You will play a key role in maintaining strong retailer relationships across your region. You will take an active role in any meet and greets with retailers, where required. Plus, you will be responsible for maintaining regular contact with the relevant retail stakeholders in your region, sensitively dealing with any issues in a professional manner, as and when they arise.

If you have the ability to work independently but still enjoy having the support of a team, you could contribute your skills and experience to improve quality of life. Are you happy to embrace a flexible work pattern as the position will involve frequent travel to meet veterans in their own homes and communities and other organisational commitments including inductions, training and team meetings which may require some overnight stays?  If you have experience of delivering Occupational Therapy in both physical and mental health conditions, then your holistic approach will help improve lives. Sleep difficulties and sensory needs are a large part of the role to enable veterans to live as they want to so experience in these areas would be beneficial.

You will have the opportunity to work in the homes and local communities and be able to support them with physical and mental health needs that are creating barriers to meaningful occupation. About you 

You’ll have experience of working in relevant policy or public affairs roles developing policy positions and materials, and a proven ability to build strong external contacts. 

Along with strong analytical and communication skills, you’ll have the ability to work well independently while managing a varied workload, and the capability to lead projects and work with teams across the UK.

You’ll have a good understanding of the current health policy landscape in Wales or the UK as well as knowledge of Welsh or UK parliamentary processes and legislative systems.

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and proactive press officer to help raise the profile of the charity and promote the charity to external audiences.

The principal aims of this post are to lead the charity’s news flow and media relations, achieving as many accurate and favourable mentions as possible in the primarily national, but also the international, equine and regional media which reflect World Horse Welfare’s organisational values, campaigning agenda and key messages.

Reporting to the Head of Communications, the role requires that you have journalistic experience or training along with excellent writing and interpersonal skills. You will have a good nose for a story, be able to write copy to tight deadlines and use your creativity to spot opportunities to promote the charity. The successful applicant will be a self-starter with an understanding of print, broadcast and online media. Horse knowledge and contacts within the national and/or equine press are desirable but not essential.

The Felix Project is London's biggest food redistribution charity and the largest end-to-end food redistribution charity in Europe.

Our vision is a London where no one goes hungry and good food is never wasted.

We rescue surplus food from businesses, supermarkets, restaurants and farms. This food is nutritious, in-date, and safe and includes a high proportion of fresh vegetables, fruit, meat and fish. If we did not rescue this food, it would be at risk of going to waste. Instead, we deliver it free of charge to London charities, schools, food banks, COVID food hubs and other organisations serving people in need. Are you our new Advancement Coordinator?

We are looking for a fundraiser eager to take the next step in their career by joining us and becoming our Advancement Coordinator. Reporting to the Director of Advancement, you'll support the Head of Philanthropy and the established Advancement team across key fundraising priorities. Your previous experience with managing executives/senior volunteers will contribute to supporting the Director of Advancement in managing the activities and priorities of a volunteer-led fundraising board. 

This is a pivotal new position created to contribute to a significant uplift in UWC International’s fundraising and prospect identification efforts in support of the new UWC Endowment and a future campaign. Your work will support the strategic and tactical planning and operational effectiveness of UWCI’s fundraising programme and the strategic development of global UWC funding priorities.
