We are looking for an outstanding candidate to join the publications team in the Digital and Content department of the Society. Working as part of a friendly, professional team, you will support the Journals Manager who oversees and manages the full journal development and delivery process.
The Journal of the Royal Statistical Society consists of three world leading, peer-reviewed scientific journals of statistics and data science, and we have just launched a new, open access journal – RSS: Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. With our 5-year strategy and the focus on impact in all aspects of the Society’s work, this is a great opportunity to get involved in journal delivery and development, and to further develop your experience within journal publishing.
Pension and benefits: Our defined contribution pension scheme can be joined after three months in post. Your contributions of up to 8% of salary will be double matched by the Society (making a maximum contribution by the Society of 16%). A training budget, season ticket loan, cycle to work scheme and employee assistance programme are also available.
Location: The RSS office is in central London and currently open twice a week. We offer flexible working arrangements and office attendance is encouraged but not mandatory depending on the role. In person attendance for certain meetings is required (including all staff/team meetings and governance/committee meetings that take place in person). Limited travel within the UK and internationally may be required.
Working hours: 21 hours per week (pro-rated). Applications for job shares and flexible working will also be considered.
Holidays: 25 days per annum (pro-rated), plus bank holidays and an additional close down between Christmas and New Year.
Probation: This post is subject to a six-month probation period.
Job purpose:
To support the Journals Manager who oversees and manages the full journal development and delivery process. This includes securing excellent relations with publishers, editors, editorial panels, trustees and authors as well as developing journal strategy in conjunction with many of the same stakeholders.
Key responsibilities:
Support and provide administration for the Society’s editorial panels, Journal Webinar Advisory Group, Discussion Meetings Committee and Publications Network
- Proactively support the editors, chair and members of journal committees and groups as directed by the Journals Manager. This involves developing credible relationships with these stakeholders and the publisher and working to support the Journals Manager to facilitate regular meetings, elicit and disseminate papers, reports and analyses prior to meetings and taking notes/writing of minutes
- Coordinate the process of appointing new associate and joint editors as directed by the Journals Manager and update the membership of journal committees and groups in the Society’s CRM system and other repositories
- Design, develop and deliver a programme of journal webinars, working with the Journal Webinar Advisory Group to select papers, invite the authors and agreed discussants, arrange the meeting and rehearsals, and publicise the events
- Work with team members to promote journal content, news, events and innovations to RSS members
Support journal editorial and production processes
- Liaise regularly with the publisher’s editorial office to ensure the smooth running of the journal peer review process and effective support of editors, reviewers, and authors
- Provide support for the journal production process managed by the Journals Manager and delivered by Oxford University Press (OUP), intervening as necessary to ensure reported problems are quickly and effectively resolved
- Provide reports to the Journals Manager and RSS senior management as required on journal activity plans and performance, including regular collection and updating of journal KPIs.
Journal development
- Support the development and delivery of the annual marketing strategy and associated activity planning by OUP and with other RSS management and stakeholders, including the support of marketing and fundraising initiatives
- Support the journals’ continuous development programme, contributing to the identification and implementation of agreed improvements and innovations
- Actively support all aspects of the new journal and its future development
- Review and update the journals publications pages on the Society’s website and the RSS/OUP hub.
- Organise, publicise, deliver and evaluate RSS journal events, specifically the Journal webinar and Discussion Meetings to proactively support the committee membership and stakeholders, upholding the RSS brand and professional reputation
General administration
- Write/update descriptions of processes (Standard Operating Procedures) for which you are responsible and share in relevant organisation folders
Person specification:
Essential
- Knowledge of publication processes, preferably gained through experience working to produce a learned journal
- An understanding of the issues facing peer review journals and an understanding of open-access publishing
- Strong communication and writing skills with high attention to detail, able to communicate confidently and concisely with a wide range of people
- Excellent organisational, coordination and planning skills with the ability to prioritise workload and deliver to deadlines
- Experience of organising meetings including the preparation of agendas, circulation of papers, production of minutes and coordinating actions
- Ability to work on own initiative as well as being part of a high-performing team
- Computer literate (Microsoft 365, Dynamics CRM) and ability to adapt to changes in technology
- Ability to work flexibly and cooperatively with team members and members of the RSS, many of whom volunteer their services. NB: the RSS has a flexible working policy but some meetings and events involve being present on set dates and times

About the role
The Legal Clinic Administrator will work under the Legal Clinic Manager and be expected to provide administrative support in a varied and demanding environment.

Job details
Hours: between 30 - 37.5 per week. Flexibility will be considered working a minimum of 30 hours per week / 0.8 full time equivalent. Salary and pay will be adjusted accordingly.
Work pattern: Weekdays, exact work pattern flexible and can be discussed at interview
Salary: £35,000 per annum (if working 30 hours per week, actual salary £28,000)
Contract and start date: 12 month fixed-term maternity cover (with possible extension) starting w/c 9 December ideally (flexibility possible)

Holiday: 25 days per annum plus bank holidays. Option to buy/sell some leave and gain additional days for continuous service after four years. The post holder is not expected to work bank and public holidays.

The Role
The Trusts & Foundations Manager (maternity cover) will be an experienced and accomplished Trusts & Foundations fundraiser, who will secure £500k+ in grants towards the Team’s £3.5 million projects income target, enabling the Charity to deliver its exciting capital and activity Masterplan.
Skillful at assimilating and interpreting complex information to craft compelling, high-level funding proposals, self-motivated and tenacious, the post holder will manage a personal portfolio of T&Fs, researching, developing and submitting high-quality, personalised five and six-figure funding proposals to contribute towards individual project targets.
Working as part of a small Team of experienced T&F and major donor fundraisers, the Trusts & Foundations Manager will play a key role in developing and managing the funding pipeline, delivering exceptional donor cultivation and stewardship to secure the income needed and establish a strong and loyal donor base for the Charity.
The post holder will have impeccable interpersonal and presentation skills and be comfortable representing the Charity and engaging with senior internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Charity to achieve its strategic goals by generating the fundraising income required to deliver core activity and development works
- Work with the Major Gifts Team to build, manage and implement the funding pipeline, conducting research, writing briefing notes / cultivation plans, maintaining CRM records and producing regular progress reports
- Manage a personal portfolio of T&Fs: conduct research, develop and implement bespoke cultivation plans, prepare and deliver high-level funding proposals and provide exceptional stewardship
- Work with colleagues across the organisation to monitor project progress and help colleagues to understand and support the fundraising process
- Deputise for the Head of Major Gifts as required
- Support the Head of Major Gifts and the Head of Impact & Learning to plan and deliver project impact reports for funders
- Manage the Fundraising Officer, supporting them to manage their own portfolio of T&Fs, reviewing and providing constructive feedback on funding applications and ensuring that they provide efficient administrative support to the Major Gifts Team
Person Specification:
Experience and Knowledge
- Experienced T&F fundraiser with a good working knowledge of the sector
- Demonstrable success of securing five and six figure grants
- Expert bid writer
- Experience of managing senior stakeholders
- Basic understanding of logic / theory of change models and social impact measures
- Experience of using a CRM system
- Knowledge of charity financial governance and gift management processes
- Experience of business planning and managing a budget
- Some experience of people management is desirable
Skills and Abilities

We're looking for a dynamic individual to help us shape the future of inclusive arts by growing Pyramid’s revenue streams and public profile. This is a new opportunity to deliver real impact, working in a senior leadership role to secure new funding, build partnerships, and ensure financial stability. You’ll lead on developing grant applications, coordinating fundraising efforts, and managing our public-facing content and profile.
This is a new role at Pyramid which supports business development by focusing on fundraising and increasing public awareness of our work. In this role, you will be responsible for generating, growing, and retaining revenues from new and existing channels (including public and private donations, fundraising events, private sector partnerships and public funding schemes). Liaising with the Director, you will identify and develop funding bids, contracts, and tenders, as well as other sources of income, to enable Pyramid to thrive and grow. You will take responsibility for Pyramid’s public profile, including social media accounts, news articles on its website and press releases, assisted by the Marketing and Communications Officer, whom you will line-manage.
Purpose of the post
- To work alongside the Director and Board of Trustees to develop and implement a revenue generation strategy which grows and diversifies Pyramid’s income streams, supporter base and public profile.
- To support Pyramid’s current and future financial stability by identifying and accessing a wide range of funding streams, including (but not limited to) corporate sponsorship, grants, contracts, commissions, philanthropy, and donations.
- To seek out and initiate opportunities to expand our networks, identifying and engaging with potential new projects, supporters, and influencers.
- To monitor and review Pyramid’s activities in relation to income and impact, and to make recommendations for change and development where appropriate.
- To supervise and collaborate with the Marketing and Communications Officer in developing suitable content to build Pyramid’s public profile, and directly support fundraising efforts by ensuring our website, social media channels and print material are kept up to date with fundraising news and activities that inspire engagement and giving.

Main tasks:
Strategic

Financial
- To diversify Pyramid’s revenue streams, with a focus on building unrestricted income.
- To work with the Director to prepare budgets, cashflow forecasts and spending reports, and to present finance information to the Trustees, members, and other stakeholders as appropriate.
- To co-write funding applications and monitoring / evaluation reports with the Director.
- To ensure compliance with funder agreements and that contractual obligations are met.
Engagement
- To work collaboratively with Pyramid’s voluntary Fundraising Team, coordinating and supporting their activities as appropriate.
- To ensure a strong online presence and that high-quality print information is made available for fundraising and business initiatives.
Administrative
- To coordinate the fundraising workload of staff by developing, maintaining, and monitoring the fundraising pipeline and timelines for all sources of income.
- To maintain accurate and comprehensive financial records and documentation relating to funding streams, and income and expenditure.
- To monitor and report on public engagement with fundraising campaigns and strategies.
Operational
- To make arrangements for and at fundraising events, exhibitions, and functions.
- To line manage the Marketing and Communications Officer and be accountable for the day-to-day responsibilities of the Marketing and Communications Officer.
- To attend and contribute to the regular meetings of staff, trustees, and sub-committees as needed.
General

At The Cancer Treatment and Research Trust, our mission is to enable our consultants and scientists to translate laboratory research into clinical trials and new life-saving treatments.

About the Role
The successful candidate will oversee the day to management of the charity, ensure effective fundraising activity, provide support for the Board of Trustees and facilitate the smooth running of the charity. As part of this you will ensure the accounts are prepared in a timely way with the assistance of our book keeper and accountants. You will also work with our web-designer to ensure the website is kept up to date and the annual charity report and return are prepared and submitted on-time.
You will oversee all fundraising activity including maintaining existing campaigns and our CRM system, and provide excellent stewardship to supporters, responding to enquiries, thanking them in a timely manner and supporting supporters with their fundraising activities. Although this role reports to the HR Manager, the HR Manager’s role is significantly part-time and whilst they will provide support and direction, day-to-day activities will be carried out by the HR Officer. On a day to day basis, you will be the first point of contact for managers across the organisation when they need support and assistance with a range of employment issues across the employment lifecycle. More specifically, key tasks will include:
Recruitment: all the way through the process from identification of the vacancy to on-boarding and probation and everything in-between!
Management of HR Information System, including inputting data into it and production of regular data packs
Preparing and amending where necessary HR documents, including staff handbook, policies and other HR documents
Working with the Finance Department by providing the relevant employee information including new starters and leavers
Working with our Happiness Officer ensuring the annual staff survey is completed and analysed in a timely manner and other wellbeing activities.
