As Director of Finance and Operations, you will

· Provide clear financial and commercial strategy and direction; 

· Embed all the relevant business, operational and legislative frameworks, policies and working practices necessary for our Trust to thrive, including those associated with compliance, HR, IT, estates, health and safety, marketing and development;  

· Ensure sound and appropriate financial governance and risk management arrangements are in place, prepare forecasts and monitor budgets and deliver annual accounts in accordance with the Academies Handbook, ESFA guidelines and all statutory requirements;

· Be responsible for the statutory accounts, financial returns and reports to the Trust board, ESFA, DfE and other statutory bodies in line with guidance and externally determined deadlines;

· Advise our Trust Lead (CEO), Trust Board on strategic financial information and school leaders on all matters relating to the Trust’s resources and assets to enable informed decision making;

· Be responsible and accountable for the delivery of our financial and other operational support services, including the management of the Trust’s finance system and internal controls;

· Provide strategic leadership and management of the Trust’s finance and operations teams, including HR, IT, Estates and governance;

· Be the primary point of contact for all aspects of funding and financial returns, HR, IT and Estates;

· Keep up to date with all funding and legislative changes that apply to the education sector, specifically multi academy trusts;

· Provide the Trust board with regular updates pertaining to the responsibilities of the role.

MAIN PURPOSES OF THE JOB

The Stella Maris (SM) Regional Port Chaplain will promote the vision, mission and values of SM in caring for all seafarers and fishers by helping to meet their pastoral and spiritual needs. They will recruit, train and support SM staff and volunteers for the port and will maintain good relations with local parishes and the local diocese. They will work ecumenically with members of other Christian maritime societies with whom SM works.

1. To meet the welfare and pastoral needs of all seafarers and fishers equally according to their needs and wishes. To be an advocate on their behalf, upholding the dignity of each. Through regular and frequent ship visiting, to understand the working and living conditions of the seafarer and fishers and be able to work for justice and for the well-being of all crew members without distinction.

2. To address the communication needs of seafarers, providing transport, news, and access to telephone and internet facilities.

3. To address the welfare needs of seafarers and fishers, including support with money transfers, hospitality, and crisis support, e.g. abandonment, injury and death, detainment, bereavement, advice and access to medical care.

4. To meet the ecclesial, spiritual, and sacramental needs of Catholic seafarers and fishers; to facilitate the religious and spiritual needs of others and to be a pastor to all, sharing one’s faith as appropriate.

5. To participate in SM conferences, ongoing formation and other professional courses as required.

6. To supporting seafarer centre functioning.

7. To recruit, train, develop and retain a SM ship visiting volunteering team.

8.  To represent SM on the local Port Welfare Committee(s), to include attending such meetings and submitting reports. 

9. To liaise and maintain good working relationships with all port stakeholders, including the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, the International Transport Workers’ Federation, port health, harbour masters, dockers, security, and shipping agents.

10.  To work in an ecumenical and multi-faith context by respecting the differing religious and spiritual needs of seafarers drawn from diverse regions throughout the world.

11.  To encourage and support the development of an ecumenical service to seafarers through engagement with our ecumenical colleagues, including the Mission to Seafarers, The Fishermen’s Mission, The Sailors’ Society (to name a few).

12.  To engage with local maritime colleges.

13.  To engage with the local press, in particular the local Catholic diocesan press.

14.  To represent and be a proactive advocate for SM at Deanery meetings, in local parishes, in schools, with diocesan Justice and Peace networks, with migrant communities, in the local Catholic community and in the local community as a whole.

15.  To support the Fundraising and Communications team with the development of local fundraising initiatives.

16.  To promote SM internally and externally so as to ensure a highly motivated workforce and a positive external image.

You will perform various gardening tasks such as pruning, mowing, planting, and weeding, and operate both handheld and ride-on machinery for grounds maintenance. Additionally, you will support volunteers with horticultural projects and maintenance, including participation in the NMA’s working weekend. Your role will also involve assisting with the documentation of horticultural activities through written and photographic records. Upholding high standards of horticultural and arboricultural care at all times is essential, as is ensuring compliance with Health and Safety regulations.

Working in partnership with the London Borough of Newham and East London Foundation Trust, IBIS House supports people who are medically fit for discharge from mental health inpatient stays but have other barriers to discharge. These may include housing, living skills, accessing benefits or the community, or other interventions and will be on a person-centered basis. The main aim of the service is to provide short-term support to customers to link with longer-term services to reduce escalations in need and reduce inpatient readmission and reduce pressure on inpatient beds.

Operations

On-site at Glass Door Night shelter venues in the boroughs of Kensington & Chelsea, Hammersmith and Fulham or Wandsworth

20 October 2024 to late April 2025 

Shifts from 6:45pm or 9:45pm to 7.15am (plus additional time if allocated driver). Hours and days of work will vary according to the needs of the service.

We are looking to recruit exceptional individuals with an open, collaborative style and a practical, can-do approach to provide a vital nightly service for our guests as Overnight Project Workers.

We value diversity and welcome all, in particular those with life experience and lived experience.

While experience of working within the homelessness sector or with similarly vulnerable people would be desirable, an understanding of the needs of people experiencing homelessness and working in a compassionate and flexible manner is more important and essential.

Flexibility is required, as you will be working a shift rota that will include weekends and public holidays. Due to the vulnerable group you will be working with, you will be asked to undergo an enhanced DBS check as part of our safeguarding measures prior to appointment.

Please note:

Some of our Overnight Project Workers are required to have a driving licence and be able to drive a manual vehicle.

However, this post also is still suitable for those that want a non-driving role.

On each shift, one of the two Overnight Project Workers will be an allocated driver and is expected to drive the van back to its local base in Fulham or Wandsworth, depending on the shelter circuit. The allocated driver for the shift will receive an additional hour of pay for this task.

What you will do as part of our team

The Overnight Project Worker is responsible for the following:

• Maintaining a friendly, supportive environment and cultivating positive relationships with guests, colleagues, and volunteers.
• Following best practice procedures for the security and safety of the guests and volunteers.
• Diffusing difficult or dangerous situations and summon assistance when necessary. Training will be provided. Writing regular shift reports using the In-Form client relationship platform.
• Carrying out regular checks around the shelter, checking conditions of all areas.
• Ensuring that the van is loaded correctly with shelter provisions and that no Glass Door belongings are left on site.
• Adhering to Glass Door’s operational and health & safety policies in all aspects of your work. Maintaining clear lines of communication with your colleagues including the Night Shelter Manager, Caseworkers, and the Operations Manager.
• Ensuring cleaning protocols are followed and implemented.
• Undertaking any other duties to aid the good running of the project, as required by the Shelter Manager or Operations Manager.
• Accurately reporting observations, interactions, concerns and actions with guests to their caseworker using written reports.
• Setting up and help serve a simple breakfast for guests in the morning
• Ensuring all guests are woken from 6am onwards and leave the building by 7am
• Flexibility is required, as you will be working a shift rota that includes weekends and public holidays.

On occasions you will also be expected to attend training, team meetings and other activities as required. The allocated driver is expected to drive the van back to its allocated base at the end of the shift to which an additional hour of pay applies for this task.

About the organisation

The Environment Investigation Agency investigate and campaign against environmental crime and abuse. The Role

The fundraising team at EIA, is responsible for raising income across trusts and statutory funders, as well as raising funds from individuals. The income raised from public fundraising has increased in recent years and they are investing in this area to further increase unrestricted income so that we can conduct even more investigative and campaigning work to protect our natural world.

It is an exciting time to join EIA, as we embark on a new organisational strategy and a new fundraising strategy. Responsibilities:

Time & Talents is a lively, busy community centre in the heart of Rotherhithe, SE16. Set in a leafy heritage building, and ‘T&T2’, our second venue in Surrey Quays Shopping Centre, we offer something for everyone. With a history of 137 years of supporting people of all ages in Rotherhithe and Bermondsey, we bring people together for mutual support, fun and friendship, with a wide range of services and activities for older people and other adults, along with volunteering and children and families’ projects. Since resuming services post-Covid, we have realized the needs and wants of the community have shifted from our previous offer. We have a strong Community Development programme to connect with and rebuild our offer, including some big changes to pre-Covid ways of working. Building on a strong track record, we intend to continue working with the community to deliver activities and events that meet local needs while also providing opportunities for fun and friendship. The role

In this role, you’ll be responsible for:

• Strategic development and oversight of community programmes for children, adults and across multiple generations

• Leadership and line management of team; oversight of sessional facilitators and contractors used by team

• Setting programme budget and service targets; monitoring and evaluation to ensure delivery against these

• Playing a key part in building, broadening and developing new funding for these programmes and maintaining relationships with current funders

• Lead role in planning and execution of community events

• Development of corporate partnerships and CSR relationships

• Responsibility for general outward communications, including social media

• Contributing to the wider organisation as a member of the Senior Management Team

• Acting as Deputy Safeguarding Lead

About you

You have a track record of developing and delivering excellent community programmes in the third sector. You’re a seasoned team leader with experience of change management. You have an outwardlooking approach and are passionate about building programmes with community buy-in. You’re flexible, accountable, take responsibility, are highly organised and skilled in multitasking and balancing priorities. You have experience of fundraising and maybe other types of income generation. You have strong relationship building skills – internally and externally - and build trust and credibility easily.
