We are looking for a Policy Officer to join our busy team, specialising in Families, Homes and Communities.
This role will see you working to influence the policy landscape, and develop evidence-based policy positions, on issues concerning the Armed Forces community, with regards to family life and relationships; housing and homelessness; children & young people’s services and education, and communities with unique needs, including bereaved families and Non-UK serving personnel, veterans and families.

Reporting to the Policy Manager, key responsibilities will include:
- Monitor the policy landscape and upcoming policy development across the families, homes and communities portfolio, within central, local, and devolved government
- Track and analyse changes in needs, priorities, and concerns of the armed forces community
- Use qualitative and quantitative research, policy analysis and lived experience to develop robust, evidence-based policy positions and proposals
- Identify, establish, and maintain an impactful network of key policy stakeholders across the charity sector and government
- Represent RBL publicly through securing opportunities to present policy issues and products, including at relevant events, workshops, external committees and working groups

About the role:
The Head of Communications and Brand will oversee the planning, execution, and evaluation of WaterAid's communications and brand portfolio, including external communications, media relations, editorial and brand management, digital content development, and public engagement.
This position calls for a high level of collaboration within WAC and the global WaterAid Federation. The Head of Communications and Brand must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively across teams to prioritize conflicting needs and deadlines. As part of a collaborative and fast-paced organization, the Head of Communications and Brand is expected to take initiative and be a creative problem-solver, possess a strong work ethic, take ownership of their work and have high personal expectations. The Head of Communications and Brand must also possess sound judgement and exercise discretion to ensure the integrity, security and confidentiality.
The Head of Communications and Brand will:
- Develop and implement an integrated annual communications plan to advance WAC's brand identity, leverage key activation opportunities, and increase the visibility of the organization across key stakeholder audiences.
- Implement major global campaigns for the Canadian market in coordination with communications leads across WaterAid Federation.
- Plan, execute and manage domestic fundraising communications in coordination with our fundraising team.
- Develop digital content that is integrated with the activities of WAC's Philanthropy, International Programs, and Policy & Advocacy teams.
- Actively seek opportunities to be endorsed by reputable external bodies that recognize sector excellence.
- Develop and maintain updated speaking points and key messages allowing WaterAid to comment on a range of issues that are relevant to the international development and WASH sectors.
- Grow WaterAid's brand identity and reputation for accountability and transparency in Canada through the production of high quality and innovative annual reports and newsletters.
- Manage WAC's website to ensure it is always up to date, accurate and user friendly.
- Manage WAC's social media strategy and develop social media content to support various WaterAid priorities, activities and programs in collaboration with all organizational teams.
- Utilize a data-driven approach to optimize WAC campaign outreach within the Canadian market, ensuring effective engagement and impact. Regularly prepare and present comprehensive reports on performance metrics and insights.
- Manage and maintain Google Enterprise Solutions and Google Not-for-Profit accounts, site directories, website domains, and SSL certificates.
- Contribute to the execution of WAC's national policy and advocacy strategy through strategic communications that demonstrate WaterAid's impact and leadership in our sector, as well as ensuring regular engagement with Canadian Members of Parliament and other decision makers.
- Work closely with the WaterAid leadership to manage opportunities to build WAC's thought leadership profile with key stakeholders through white papers, publications, and media, including social media as relevant.
- Support partnerships and expand upon collaborations with existing WaterAid partners and other stakeholders to advance advocacy objectives.
- Contribute to international development sector-wide advocacy and communications initiatives in Canada.
About you:
- Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications or another related field.
- Minimum of 7 years' experience in marketing, media relations, and corporate/ nonprofit communications.
- Exceptional communication skills in English, with bilingualism in English and
- French being a strong asset.
- An entrepreneurial and collaborative work ethic. Diplomatic and able to work with teams from around the globe and different time zones.
- Experience of managing external public relations, web development, and other communications vendors.
- An understanding of international development issues.
- Experience working on advocacy plans and execution within the international development/NGO sectors would be a strong asset.
- A strong commitment to WaterAid's mission, vision, and values with the ability to effectively communicate this mandate in a manner that compels prospective supporters to join the cause.

Job description
Re-engage has just launched a new five-year strategy which has growth at its heart. We’re looking for an exceptional person to join our team, for maternity cover, as a support and development officer (SDO) and to be a vital part of this exciting phase of our development.
Reporting to the support team manager and sitting within the service delivery team you will be working closely with other SDOs and engagement officers (EOs) with a focus on matching older people and volunteers in to Re-engage services and providing ongoing support.
Joining our team will give you a role where you’ll have a real sense of purpose and we'll give you the time, space, and support to develop in the role. We’re looking for some who is:
- Committed to engaging and empowering volunteers and older people.
- Experienced in using a CRM system to capture, store, and retrieve information on all stakeholders.
- Work with our CRM system and dashboard to identify tasks and manage workload, ensuring records of older people and volunteers are kept up to date
- Solution focused and committed to using technology to find solutions and to improve performance.
- Comfortable with communicating on the phone with people of all ages.
- A skilled and confident communicator.
- Familiar with working in a fast-paced environment with experience of working to deadlines and at meeting performance related targets.
Key responsibilities:
- Matching older people and volunteers into Re-engage services.
- Supporting volunteer and older people once they are matched into Re-engage services, including dealing with any complaints that may arise.
- Collaborating with colleagues to identify applicants for volunteer roles or older people referrals.
- Making calls to older people and volunteers on a regular basis
- Responding to phone and email enquiries from our shared mailbox and phoneline that provides high quality support to older people and volunteers.
- Attending face to face meetings with colleagues occasionally
- You may be required to undertake other duties that fall within the nature of the role and responsibilities of the post.

The post holder will lead on the Foundation’s research communications activities, working closely with the Comms and Digital Lead to execute a research communications strategy. This will ensure that our supporters are kept informed on the latest research developments and enable us to demonstrate the impact of our research.
The post-holder will also support the delivery of our annual grant schemes, as well as helping to manage our portfolio of funded projects. This will involve close working with our Research Programme Managers and include administering, monitoring, evaluating and reporting on the performance of awards, ensuring the outputs are of the highest quality and supporting the charities activities.
The post-holder will have an important role to play in our busy and small-knit research team. They will be exposed to all aspects of grant management and use their communication skills to effectively share more information about the research we fund with our key stakeholders.
Key responsibilities:
Research Communications

Work closely with the Communications and Digital Manager to oversee our research communications strategy and programme of activity;

Lead on the development of all external research communications activities to communicate the impact of our research and ensure our supporters are kept up to date with the latest developments. This includes developing news stories, blogs, newsletter content, infographics, research webinar series and our annual research impact report;

Liaise with our funded researchers to secure pictures and other content (e.g. video) for use on socials including making site visits to labs across the UK;

Liaise with our communications team and PR agency to take advantage of any press opportunities that arise for our research communications, supporting the development of position statements and press releases.
Research Funding Administration

Support the Research Programme Managers by ensuring our research grant rounds are effectively administered in line with Association of Medical Research Charity (AMRC) policy, including coordinating comprehensive internal and external peer review, supporting research review committees, drafting feedback for applicants, managing the contracting and financial monitoring of awards;

Assist the Research Programme Managers in managing the research programme budget including planning, monitoring and forecasting;

Support the ongoing development and implementation of our online grant management system, Flexi-Grant;

Track and assess progress of funded awards, building and managing relationships with award holders and maintaining regular communication through the project life cycle;

Purpose of the Job:
This role is within our crisis alternative service – Safe Space - which is an out of hours service providing a safe and welcoming space for people who are feeling distressed and experiencing crisis. The service operates 365 days a year from 12:00pm(midday)-11:30pm across all of our boroughs. The shift pattern for this role is 4:30-11:30pm. This will be on a rota basis across support workers.
Staff within the service will provide person-centred, practical and emotional support, face to face or via telephone on a one-to-one or group basis to individuals experiencing mental health crisis. This will consist of 1:1 support; de-escalating and providing interventions, signposting for specialised or longer-term support, and delivering collaborative self-management plans with clients to improve mental wellbeing. The aim of this service is to de-escalate and prevent further crises.
The objectives of the service include:
- To improve the mental wellbeing of people experiencing mental health crisis in HFEH.
- To provide support to clients accessing the service- for instance: signposting, de-escalation, planned wellbeing activities etc.
- To contribute to an improvement in individual mental wellbeing.
- To remain a source of independent support for all clients.
- To treat service users with respect, dignity and personalised support
- To raise awareness of mental health services available with the goal to improve long term mental health and reduce social isolation
- To increase self-management skills of those accessing the service
- To reduce the use of police, ambulance and statutory mental health services whilst experiencing crisis.
- To reduce the use of statutory crisis services by people experiencing mental ill health without positive outcomes for the individual.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing a person centred and recovery orientated approach in all aspects of the roles and responsibilities.
- Promoting people’ rights and responsibilities
- Working collaboratively with clients to understand their needs and developing flexible and realistic crisis support packages/person centred plans

You will have:
- Minimum of 1 year working in mental health services and with clients experiencing mental health distress and crisis

About the role
The Communications Assistant will support the communications team with the maintenance and management of our website, parent/carer newsletters and other communications. The Adult Services Team Manager is one of 3 team managers reporting to our Chief Executive Officer. NYAS provides independent monitoring services nationally which aims to ensure that all residents within homes are safeguarded and have their wellbeing promoted at all times. This service provides regular reports which are a reliable source of external monitoring to ensure that the provision has the leadership and resources as well as skilled and supported staff to meet the needs of each resident. The monitoring will also ensure residents are provided with a safe environment which promotes their wellbeing.
We are looking for a new Service Manager to work alongside our current Service Managers to co-lead and be responsible for the delivery and development of the service which includes the management of staff and contractors. You will work to ensure that the service is delivered to a high standard and is within budget.
You must have knowledge and experience of residential care for children and adults plus experience with quality assurance.
This is a home-based role however, there is an expectation with the needs of the role to travel nationally with occasional overnight stays and attend NYAS offices as required. There is also a minimum expectation of quarterly travel to meet with commissioners.

You'll combine your compassion, organisational skills and expertise to work with our guests as they take their next steps in finding a safe home and rebuilding their lives after exploitation.
Hope at Home operates a hosting scheme for survivors of modern slavery and human trafficking in the UK. We train and support hosts to welcome a survivor facing homelessness into their homes for an agreed time period.
We believe no survivor of slavery should ever have to sleep on the streets.
We are looking for a highly organised, self-motivated person with demonstrable experience of helping people find accommodation to join our team and assist our guests directly to move on from hosting. This is a brand new, but vital role as we are only able to continue hosting if guests are provided with ways to move on from their temporary hosting placements. As advice services, housing and support providers are increasingly overwhelmed, we plan to offer our own support for our guests.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
·Build a relationship via phone, email and online calls with hosted guests to help them progress their move on options.You will sometimes use an interpreter for these calls.
·Advising guests of their rights to statutory or private rented accommodation.
·Working with guests to apply to housing providers, asylum or MSVCC accommodation when entitled.
·Signposting to other sources of support for guests.
·Ensure Hosting Coordinators and external guest support workers are fully informed of interactions and plans.
· Collaborative Working with housing providers, external support providers, guests and the Hope at Home hosting team.
