Digital Channel Owner

The Royal Society of Chemistry is looking for a Digital Channel Owner to join our Integrated Media team. This is an exciting opportunity where you will be involved across our communications and marketing campaigns, focusing on a wide range of global audiences, helping us to target activity using timely, unique and relevant messaging based on preferences and behaviours, supporting both emotional and rational positioning to drive action and engagement.

As Digital Channel Owner you will play a key role in managing a range of digital channels to deliver impactful activity to support our ambitious campaigns. You will be expected to develop close relationships with colleagues, including delivery teams and those based overseas.

In this role, you will:

• Create and deliver content across digital channels (social media, website, email)
• Specialise in multiple digital platforms, becoming an in-house expert across our digital estate, including X, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube.
• Monitor and analyse digital metrics to improve channel effectiveness, advising colleagues on digital best practices
• Stay current with digital communication trends as well as legal and best practices
• Collaborate with colleagues on integrated marketing and communications campaigns, including paid activities
• Ensure data integrity and provide performance reporting, building knowledge to monitor target audiences and industry trends
• Develop and maintain RSC brand consistency across all digital communications
• Collaborate and support Communications team in delivering strategic priorities

At the RSC we embrace flexibility and offer hybrid working, which means our teams come together when they need to collaborate. Although this role is contractually based at our Cambridge or London office, you will be able to work from home within the UK, with the expectation that you will attend the office as needed for your role. It is expected that you will attend the office an ad-hoc basis with some travel to support events. If you need flexible working arrangements, please outline this in your application.

What we are looking for:

• Degree level and/or a relevant communications/marketing qualification and/or relevant communications/marketing experience.
• Experience within an organisation of some or all of the following: social media management, digital advertising, content creation, email marketing.
• Experience of using social platforms as digital marketing tools – specifically the range of organic posting methods; social posting tools and measurement; paid promotion and measurement
• Experience of creating and using video on digital platforms, with a professional understanding of video content, video production and best practise for content on YouTube (including – but not limited to – closed captions, SEO tagging etc.)
• Experience creating and publishing content for corporate social media accounts such as X, Facebook/insta reels and LinkedIn, and using social media analytics tools to optimise social strategies.
• Experience of using leading email platforms and marketing automation systems, email automation and trigger/behaviour based email communications.
• Experience in measuring and reporting on the performance of digital content and channels.
• Experience of using website content management systems and knowledge of search engine marketing and SEO (search engine optimisation)
• Demonstrable interest in how the digital environment is evolving and an appreciation of its role in the delivery of effective and efficient organisational communications and marketing, together with an understanding of complementary disciplines such as advertising and ecommerce
