Barnardo's are recruiting several practitioners to be involved in the delivery of an innovative project to introduce a new parenting intervention to address youth violence into the UK.
We are looking for enthusiastic practitioners with experience of working with young people and their families preferably within the context of serious youth violence. They should be passionate about improving outcomes for young people who are at risk of serious youth violence, through positive support of their parents. Your focus will be on working in a team to deliver the GEN PMTO programme (following full training). It is essential the integrity of the programme material is maintained so it will be crucial to attend all training and to abide by the course material outlines. Gathering feedback, outcomes and impact will be a central part of the role as this information will be pivotal in determining the impact of the programme. We need a strong, cohesive team who are positive and open to trailing innovative ways of working with parents that will improve the outcomes for young people.

The post holders will deliver the programme to groups of parents in two identified boroughs in London to determine if the programme is effective in the UK.
Hours worked: the 37 hours a week will be worked flexibly across the week. The role may include some evening and weekend work.
Where is it based: This is a London based job and travel around London will be expected. There may be some home-based days for administration tasks. There are two boroughs identified for the project at this time.
Salary: The salary band will be £28,283, to £32,323 (dependent on experience)
Length of contract: We are recruiting the role as a fixed term contract until 25th November due to maternity cover. The project is expected to run from July 2023 to March 2026.

You would be joining us at a time when in the middle of last year, we launched our new identity as the Leadership Skills Foundation (previously Sports Leaders UK) alongside a new 5-year ‘Evolve’ strategy. Having navigated the challenges of the pandemic, the organisation has naturally placed an emphasis in recent years on retaining and sustaining the existing relationships we have with the 2,500 organisations (centres) that deliver our programmes.
Looking ahead, with new programmes and partnerships emerging, this role will now play a significant part in helping us expand the network of centres delivering Leadership Skills Foundation programmes and broaden the audiences we reach. Over the next few years, we aim to create an adaptable leadership skill offer that will increase our reach to more young people across, fully establishing the Leadership Skills Foundation as the trusted voice for leadership skills development.

What will I be doing?

- Lead on the digital experience strategy for the organisation. Using insight to design, implement, test, measure and optimise as needed.
- Product Ownership of the website experience and content strategy for the site, liaising with internal stakeholders as needed.

About Care4Calais and the Legal Access Department
Care4Calais is a volunteer-based charity providing essential aid and support for refugees in France and the UK.
In northern France we operate year-round from Calais, working alongside communities in Calais and Dunkirk to provide warm clothing, bedding and service provision to displaced people who live in appalling and dangerous conditions.
Across the UK we collect and distribute clothes, shoes, mobile phones and other essential items, as well as providing social support and interaction, including language lessons, sport and music workshops. We also help with vital access to medical and educational services.
Our Legal Access Department is an access to justice project that exists to support people seeking asylum in the UK by facilitating access to legal representation and offering holistic support to people throughout the asylum process. The department, made up mostly of specially trained volunteers, works tirelessly to ensure that people feel informed, empowered, and far less isolated and alone. We conduct one-to-one, complex casework for people seeking asylum for a variety of matters, over the years we have supported thousands of people to secure legal representation. Our current casework channels include securing legal representation and support for people’s asylum claims, challenges to unsuitable accommodation and potential removal from the UK (for example under the previous Rwanda policy), and support of young people in their age dispute matters. Our teams work remotely across the UK. The Department seeks to adapt and amend our services based on the needs of the communities that we work with.
About the role
The aim of the role is to support and inspire volunteer casework teams to undertake the individual one-to-one casework and support that lies at the heart of what the Legal Access Department does, furthering access to justice for people seeking asylum and refugees. The successful candidate will lead our Asylum Team of volunteer caseworkers to support individuals in their asylum claim, assisting with legal referrals and onward signposting where appropriate. They will work collaboratively with other Volunteer Team Leads and the Head of Department to respond with agility to a fast-moving policy environment.

Volunteer Team Lead / Coordinator

Lead existing team(s) of volunteers to undertake their specified casework roles as agreed with the Head of Department.
