The Role

The charity is looking for an experienced, and enthusiastic manager to join their Supporter Development team in an exciting role focussing on maximising engagement and retention of their supporters.

Reporting to the Associate Head of Supporter Development, the successful candidate and their team will be responsible for improving our supporter experience and the management of several loyalty and retention programmes.

The Supporter Development team focusses on engaging existing supporters to build loyalty and maximise long term income for the charity. The ideal candidate will be confident and experienced working on large scale fundraising campaigns. In so doing they will be playing a key role in maximising income and minimising attrition and raising vital funds for children.

Responsibilities:

• To work with Associate Head and Head of Department to develop and deliver strategies and annual business plans to develop the department's contribution to fundraising.
• To work with the Associate Head and Head of Department to create the annual budget and activity plan for the team to enable the department to plan its activity and services
• To play a key role in maximising income and minimising attrition for the charity from supporters and potential supporters through development and delivery of fundraising strategies and management of long term supporter relationships
• To work effectively with other teams and departments in communications, fundraising and other functions within the charity to maximise income for children
• To lead, manage and develop a team within Fundraising in line with corporate standards in order to meet business requirements
• To participate in Fundraising or cross-functional projects as required to support the department's fundraising as a whole, and where appropriate to take the lead in such projects

About the role

As Christmas Stories Officer, you will work closely with Crisis at Christmas guests and Crisis members with lived experience of homelessness to share their stories.

As part of the Stories team, you will visit Crisis at Christmas services and build relationships with guests, provide them with the information they need to make an informed decision about sharing their stories and support them through the process. You will work with them to create packages of creative story content that may include photos, video, or written content.  

You will support the Stories team in Christmas planning and delivering the storytelling during Crisis at Christmas. You will lead on editing, reviewing, and signing off content with Christmas guests in a safe and ethical way.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will be a creative storyteller who is able to collaborate and build relationships with a wide variety of people.

You’ll be a great writer and editor who loves to tell interesting stories. You may have experience interviewing people, and you’ll enjoy building relationships and rapport with others. You may have experience in photography too.

You will be passionate about supporting people to get their voice heard, and about ending homelessness. Your knowledge of safeguarding and GDPR and your attention to detail will ensure processes are followed to share stories safely and ethically.

You’ll be able to manage your work independently and work as part of a team, and you might have some project management experience.  

You may have experience in, journalism, stories roles, PR and media, marketing, campaigning, oral history, co-production, photography, videography, content production.

We do this through the Parkinson’s Excellence Network (PEN), a network of around 6,000 health and care professionals with a shared vision: to build an expert Parkinson’s workforce and improve health and care services for people with Parkinson’s.

We bring together and support health and care professionals to share best practice, network and collaborate, share resources and education, and drive improvements to services for people with Parkinson’s and their loved ones.

Since its establishment in 2015, the Excellence Network has provided networking and collaboration opportunities for professionals across the different regions of the UK. In England, the Excellence Network is moving to a new regional model aligned to the 7 NHS England regions. The regional model in the devolved nations will remain the same: 3 regions in Scotland, 2 in Wales and 1 in Northern Ireland.

To help us deliver this new regional model, we are looking for a healthcare professional to take on the role of Regional Clinical Lead on a consultancy basis.

You’ll:

• Be expected to co-opt a multidisciplinary leadership team to support you in your role. This team should reflect the multi-professional composition of regional services, as well as the geography and should include at least one person with Parkinson's.

• Inspire, challenge and collaborate with the health and social care professional community to drive significant improvements to Parkinson’s services across your region.

• Work closely with the Professional Engagement team at Parkinson’s UK to organise and hold engagement opportunities in your region. This will include working with the team to hold and lead at least one in-person meeting in your region per year.
• Attend the annual in-person PEN National and Regional Clinical Leads meeting.
• Support the PEN national calendar of events through attendance or promotion. This includes Excellence Hub meetings and other activities centred around our national priorities.
• Work closely with the PEN National Clinical Leadership Team (CLT) to discuss and review national and regional priorities. Attend a virtual meeting with CLT 2 times per year.

What expertise you’ll bring

You’ll:

• Be a UK-based clinical healthcare professional, working in Parkinson’s or with extensive interest and expertise in the condition, with exceptional interpersonal and influencing skills. Healthcare professionals living with Parkinson’s are also encouraged to apply.
• Have a good understanding of the landscape of health and social care delivery, education and workforce development to support the strategic aims and objectives of Parkinson’s UK.

What you can expect from Parkinson’s UK

You’ll:

• Be formally welcomed and introduced to the Excellence Network and your role as a regional clinical lead.
• Be provided with an introduction pack, which outlines all the activities of the PEN at a national, regional and local level, so that you can gain an understanding of where your role fits in.
• Meet regularly with the Professional Engagement team to discuss and plan activity in your region, working to a co-developed engagement plan for your PEN region. We will be flexible, taking into account your individual needs.
• Meet with the Professional Engagement Lead or Associate Director of Policy & Health Strategy after 6 months in the role for a review meeting and then annually thereafter (or more frequently if required).
• Be provided with a set of resources and information to support you in your role eg. a ready made presentation on the PEN, data from the services within your patch, including relevant data from the UK Parkinson’s Audit.

These cover the central duties of the role, but as we’re a small team the person in this role can also expect to work across many aspects of the charity, including: the creative vision for the charity; helping to design and manage events; helping to devise and manage neuroscience research projects; helping to devise and manage our grassroots strategy to increase the number of people reading in the UK and internationally; helping to devise the creation around national reading campaigns and helping to devise strategy around our content across our social media, website and podcast.

Examinations Coordinator (Clinical)

As Examinations Coordinator (Clinical) you will support the Overseas Examinations Manager by coordinating the operational delivery of all aspects of MRCPCH clinical examination activity, engaging clinicians to deliver examinations to the required standard, on schedule and to budget.

This is a crucial role within the Clinical Assessments Team as you will undertake routine forward planning to work with the Overseas Examination Manager to support hosts for exams and related exam preparation whilst also supporting the recruitment, training and performance review of MRCPCH examiners.

With line management responsibility for two administrators, you will provide input into monitoring and evaluating each clinical exam delivered, to ensure standards are maintained and candidate and examiner feedback is captured, whilst identifying and reporting on key concerns for future improvement, development and delivery.

In addition, you will provide committee administration support, including developing schedules for committees, ensuring they adhere to RCPCH Governance arrangements.

Educated to A-level standard or with relevant experience in a similar role, you will have outstanding communication skills and be adept at managing stakeholder relationships.

With an awareness of the principles of effective project management, risk mitigation, risk management and governance, you will be able to find pragmatic solutions, seek improvements and adapt to changing situations.

You will also have the ability to act to minimise errors and inaccuracies, whilst maintaining high standards of accuracy and correctness in dealing with information and data.

Your excellent report writing skills will enable you to present information in a fluent and persuasive manner to people at a range of levels.

A good knowledge of topics relating to assessments and exams along with previous experience in exams and/or assessments would be desirable.
