This role will predominantly be working from our Day Centre but will also include work with night shelter clients.

Within the Day Centre you will be required to provide advice and advocacy and casework to people who are homeless and at risk of homelessness and maintain a caseload of clients working within a fast paced and dynamic small team. You will support the smooth running of the day centre provision and have a commitment to supporting vulnerable clients in a person-centred way. 

To be successful in this role will require a keen interest in homelessness and the devastating impact this can have on people. This role is suited to someone with a problem solving, positive attitude, who is passionate about supporting marginalised people.   

Our day centre service is currently open three days per-week offering respite, food and somewhere safe to be for anyone facing street homelessness. It provides advocacy and casework services to those who are vulnerably housed or homeless, supporting them to address their individual crisis and the underlying causes. We also provide a small year round night shelter provision. 

APAP works in close partnership with a number of key agencies locally including drug and alcohol teams, street outreach services, local authority housing teams and the wider VCS. We are a gateway service in the community through which our clients can access a range of support. 

The Community Fundraising and Partnerships Coordinator will be responsible for developing and nurturing relationships within the local community to support APAP’s fundraising efforts, including schools, local businesses, faith and community groups. A key feature of this role will be developing increased year-round community engagement and fundraising, leading into the planning and delivery of at least one annual fundraising campaign. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to engage directly with stakeholders to build strong partnerships, whilst contributing strategically to the growth of the charity's fundraising efforts.

About the role:

The Digital Officer is a key member of the Marketing and Digital team. We are a friendly, creative, and supportive team, responsible for raising awareness and growing the brand of The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, as well as our website, email, social, direct mail, paid advertising and more. This is a particularly exciting time to join our growing team as we shape and improve the charity’s digital approach and prepare to launch a new large-scale capital fundraising appeal.

As Digital Officer you'll work closely with Marketing and digital colleagues, as well as fundraising teams across the organisation. You will be a key player in maintaining and improving the charity’s digital presence, focussing on website management and web content, keeping our supporters and audiences at the heart of everything you do.

It is also an exciting time to join our digital team, as this role will begin part way through a redevelopment of our website. The Digital Officer will play a vital part in supporting the wider digital team to QA and deploy the new site, and support the Digital teams efforts to embed new ways of working and processes for the new site and ongoing roadmap.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Support day-to-day management and improvement of the website. Includes content updates to ensure information is correct and up-to-date, and editing pages as needed across the site, following digital best practice.

• Support with the blog content calendar and blog content creation. Writing, building, publishing and optimising digital content, then measuring performance using tools like GA4 and Hotjar.

• Embedding and promoting digital best practice. Ensuring new content developed follows digital, SEO and UX best practices and supporting colleagues within the charity to understand and deliver the best digital experience across key campaigns by providing advice, recommendations and feedback.

• Supporting the wider Digital Team in delivering a training programme across the organisation, which will embed our new content creation process and build digital skills across the organisation.

To be successful in your application you'll need:

• Professional experience using CMS (Content Management Systems) and knowledge of website management, on-page and technical SEO and digital best practice. Knowledge of UX is desirable but not essential.
• Experience using data tools, such as Google Analytics for reporting and identifying actionable insights.
• Excellent copywriting, editorial and proofreading skills.
• Experience in writing for the web or digital channels and creating content tailored to a variety of audiences.
• Ability to communicate, work collaboratively and build good working relationships.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to work proactively and manage multiple projects concurrently.

The following are beneficial to your application but not essential:

• Experience of digital collaboration and project management tools like Trello, MS teams or JIRA.

PURPOSE OF THIS ROLE

Over recent years, SBP has grown from a fledgling charity to an established and impactful organisation with an annual budget of over £1m in restricted and unrestricted funds. 

Our existing Head of Finance, who has been with us through part of this journey, is shortly due to retire and will be replaced by this Head of Finance & HR role, with strategic and operational ownership of SBP’s finances, as well as responsibility of SBP’s HR policy and processes.

KEY LIAISONS

The Head of Finance & HR will report to SBP’s CEO and sit on SBP’s Management Team, comprising the CEO and other heads of functions. 

The role will manage our Finance & HR Officer and work closely with other members of the home-based SBP team, including colleagues in Fundraising leading on income generation.

The role will also communicate regularly with SBP’s Treasurer and the wider Board of Trustees to support their understanding of the charity’s financial and HR management.

Where required, the role will also have contact with SBP’s partners, suppliers and other external contacts in the course of managing the charity’s financial agreements and transactions.

KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Operational ownership of SBP’s finances, including:

• Control and management of SBP’s bank accounts and financial system (Xero).

• Responsibility for SBP’s financial transactions, payments and payroll.

• Responsibility for external claims/reporting, including Gift Aid claims and VAT returns.

• Responsibility for SBP’s financial processes, controls and policies.

• Line management and development of the Finance & HR Officer to support in the above. 

Strategic ownership and governance of SBP’s finances, including:

• Management and delivery of our annual budget and the budgeting/re-forecasting process, with input from the wider team.

• Management and delivery of our annual accounts and audit, in conjunction with an external accountant/auditor.

• Monthly financial reporting to the Management Team.

• Quarterly financial reporting to the Board of Trustees.

• Financial planning for the organisation, taking into account trends in spending and income, and planned growth of our activities.

• Assessment and communication of financial risks to the Management Team and Board of Trustees.

Financial advice and support to the wider SBP team, including:

• Providing financial information to feed into fundraising applications.

• Providing advice on VAT/financial risk in relation to new products, partnerships and agreements.

• Advising on budget creation and management for projects, commissions and operational areas.

Human resources policy and processes:

• Responsibility for SBP’s human resource processes, controls and policies.

• Oversight of contracting and on-boarding of new employees.

• Oversight of holiday management and storage of key documents/information using our HR system, Breathe. 

• Line management and development of the Finance & HR Officer to support in the above. 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA), or equivalent level of knowledge/experience.

• Experience of reporting, budgeting, payroll and other finance processes at an operational and strategic level.

• Experience in a charitable organisation, or good working knowledge of the unique aspects of charity finance, including management of restricted and unrestricted funds.

• Experience of taking ownership of either a finance function or a discreet finance area, along with the responsibility for its accurate management and efficient running.

• Experience of presenting and explaining financial information to individuals and groups with varying levels of financial understanding.

• Experience of HR management policy and process.

• Experience of working with Xero, or proven ability to get up to speed quickly with new financial systems.

KEY SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES

• Self-motivated and solutions-focused, with the capability and desire to take ownership of all relevant responsibilities and continually improve the charity’s financial and HR processes. 

• Comfortable working in a small organisational setting, without the support of a wider, multi-level finance and HR structure/team.

• Analytical, with the skills to provide financial analysis in support of decision-making and help others identify trends and anomalies in our finances.

• Skilled at taking financial data from a variety of sources (e.g. accounting software, bank, spreadsheets) and presenting it to a non-financial audience in an accessible format.

• Excellent organisational, time management and prioritisation skills, with the flexibility to respond to changing needs in a dynamic working environment.

• Ability to communicate confidently with a wide range of people and build positive
  relationships with colleagues, partners and stakeholders.

• Desire and ability to stay up to date with financial and HR governance law and requirements as they relate to charities.

• Motivated to be part of a committed wider team working towards our vision for rewilding in Scotland.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Salary: £24,000-27,000 per annum on 0.6 FTE hours (pro-rated from £40,000-45,000 FTE), depending on experience. Salaries are paid in arrears on the last working day of each month by bank transfer.

Hours: Working hours are flexible, but must equate to a minimum of 22.5 working hours (0.6 FTE) per week, Monday to Friday. Note that the full-time working week at SBP is 37.5 hours. The nature of the post may from time to time require evening and weekend work. Paid overtime is not available, but time off in lieu will be given. 

Place of work: This role is home-based within Scotland and will require a suitable home office working environment (SBP can provide a laptop and support additional equipment needs). Attendance of meetings and events in other parts of Scotland will also be required periodically, with travel expenses paid in accordance with SBP’s Expenses Policy. 

Contract: Permanent.

Flexibility: Subject to ensuring that the needs of the charity and the role are met, SBP endeavours to meet the flexible working needs of its employees. 

Holidays: 16.8 days on 0.6 FTE hours (pro-rated from our FTE allowance of 28 days) including public holidays, plus 5 additional office closure days between Christmas and New Year. 

Pensions: You may be eligible to be enrolled into SBP’s employee pension scheme. Written terms of the scheme are available on request. 

Probationary period: 6 months. 

Notice period: 2 months.

Reporting to our Head of Governance, this role will see you responsible for providing top level administrative and organisational support to our busy Governance team, ensuring the smooth day to day running of corporate governance for our organisation.

In this fast paced role, you will manage the Corporate Calendar and support the team and Chief of Staff with diary management, travel arrangements and administration tasks. You will assist in providing support for RBLs annual election officer cycle and Annual Conference, complete statutory filing of regulatory governance returns and provide support to our Trustees.

Key responsibilities will include:

- Annually produce the corporate calendar (in conjunction with the Governance Manager) including all meetings of the Board of Trustees, its Committees, the Executive Board and Subsidiary Boards
- Identify and book appropriate virtual and physical venues for meetings, ensuring adequate resources / equipment / catering etc are arranged
- Manage the diary and travel arrangements for the Chief of Staff and Trustees
- Provide cover in taking formal minutes at Trustee committee meetings
- Continue the development and maintenance of the system for managing the personal data of the Board of Trustees and other governance volunteers
- Assist the governance team in the run up to and during the RBL Annual Conference regarding requests for printing, meeting bookings, creating PPT slides, and other administrative tasks
- Support the Governance Team in the annual election cycle for Trustees and the Membership Council and the induction of successful applicants, as well as working with L&D and the Head of Governance on the onboarding, induction and continuous development of the Board of Trustees and other governance volunteers

You will bring experience working in a busy administrative role and have excellent communication and relationship management skills, able to confidently communicate and engage with a range of stakeholders. Your ability to work at pace will be second to none and you will have highly effective planning and organisational skills. You will be contracted to our London, Haig House Hub with a minimum expectation of two days per week working in person at the Hub and flexibility for working remotely/at home when not on site.

• Experience in developing budgets & forecasts, and undertaking and presenting analysis, both in writing and verbally.
• Experience in the financial management of grants, including developing budgets for proposals (on a full cost recovery basis), and reporting for donors.

As a School Breakfast Coordinator, you will be required to work directly with schools to recruit them to the programme, facilitate the successful set up of breakfast delivery in their schools and provide ongoing support and advice. A big part of this role will be to proactively contact schools to offer them a virtual meeting to support them to sustain and grow their breakfast provision. 

Main Responsibilities:

• Proactively contact schools to offer online meetings and support in the ongoing delivery of their breakfast provision. Offering advice and guidance to increase the number of children having breakfast each day

• Respond to school queries via a Helpdesk either by phone or email in a timely manner. Escalating to colleagues within the service as appropriate.

• Share knowledge, ideas, feedback and evidence of good practice with schools to inspire and encourage improved delivery of the breakfast provision.

• Work closely with colleagues and partners supplying the service delivery, ensuring any issues relating to Food orders, deliveries or provision help are reported and action is taken immediately.

Main Requirements (for details check the job description and person specification):

• The successful candidate will preferably be educated to degree level or relevant professional qualification to level 3. Have experience of working in customer service environments or experience of being first point of contact and providing high quality support.

• Experience of working in an educational setting or in partnership with schools or other educational providers and knowledge of how schools operate.

• Experience working in a remote team with the ability to confidently build relationships with a range of professionals, stakeholders and services.

• Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills including the ability to engage a range of audiences virtually.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office with strong IT and administration skills and a high level of competency in the use of Salesforce or a similar CRM tool.

Working with our media agency and third-party agency suppliers, this role will be responsible for the development, execution, and optimisation of mass scale, omni-channel marketing, and fundraising campaigns and marcomms within the overall BHF integrated media plan.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maximise new customer acquisition for BHF’s flagship weekly lottery, 'The Weekly Flutter' enhancing online sign-ups and optimising Cost Per Acquisition (CPA).
• Strategically own and optimise digital initiatives (Social Media, Digital Display, Pay-Per-Click) to achieve ambitious acquisition and income targets.
• Define and implement strategic frameworks that improve the end-to-end customer journey, ensuring compelling and impactful engagement for sustained support.
• Lead the development of innovative lottery and gaming offerings, partnering with Marcomms to create seamless, engaging integrated campaigns.

About You: 

As our ideal candidate, you'll bring extensive and demonstrable marketing experience in designing, developing, and managing integrated, multi-channel marketing plans that deliver successful commercial outcomes, particularly in new customer acquisition and fundraising/income growth. 

With excellent interpersonal skills and a proven track record of success in a fast-moving, effective marketing team, you'll have experience in paid media planning and optimisation across a full range of marketing channels. You will be adept at prioritising and managing multiple complex projects, with strong skills in data utilisation, manipulation, and analysis across various media. 

Highly numerate, with experience managing large budgets, you'll possess extensive marketing skills, a full understanding of different marketing approaches, and the ability to use marketing to secure support across a broad range of channels. This is fixed term contract covering family leave until 31 May 2026.

This is a blended role, where your work will be dual located between your home and our London Office.

About this exciting opportunity
Working as an integral part of the ED Navigator team, our successful candidate will identify and assess young victims of violence and provide a comprehensive and holistic assessment, advice, referral and support service, exploring innovative and effective ways of supporting them which will reduce their risk of re-victimisation.

You will produce support and risk management plans based on assessments, promoting inter-agency collaboration in the assessment and planning process, and deliver a holistic support service, working solo or with colleagues as the situation dictates, which will include providing practical help such as social and housing support, accompanying to appointments, ETE options and appearing in court. We will also count on you to develop and maintain relationships with partner agencies and to close cases efficiently and positively, identifying a referral route for the client that will identify agencies that can be used for ongoing support.

What we are looking for
• Personal experience of the criminal justice system, lived experience of the issues facing this client group and/or experience of working with ‘high risk’, vulnerable children, young people and/or families
• Experience in working as part of a multi-agency team
• Experience of using support plans, to enable people to successfully access support services
• Substantial experience of engaging successfully with ‘challenging’ young people
• To have a relevant qualification to a good standard or be working towards one
• A knowledge of relevant services for young people and their families in the service provision area
• First-class interpersonal, relationship-building and communication skills, both verbal and written. 

Successful candidates must undergo an Enhanced DBS check, on the basis that the post involves contact with vulnerable participants and colleagues.
