The British Educational Research Association (BERA) is seeking a Publications Manager to oversee its publishing programme during a period of maternity leave. You will oversee our four academic journals, Research Intelligence magazine, the BERA Blog, book series, research reports and more. The role involves collaboration with BERA staff, committees, editorial teams, members and external partners to support our strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Publications Management: Developing BERA’s publications portfolio, maintaining standards, managing relationships and recommending activities.
• Journal Oversight: Supporting our journal editors, managing publishing partnerships and developing strategies for the journals.
• Academic Publishing: Managing the production of Research Intelligence, the BERA Blog, research reports and other outputs. 

The role will also assist with project work, monitor budgets and support the work of our Publications & Digital Content Officer.

• Contract: Fixed-term from mid-October 2024 to late November 2025.
• Starting Salary: from £46,253

As Publications Manager you will need the following skills and experience:

• A thorough understanding of professional publishing, ideally in an academic setting, and the changing publishing environment, particularly around open access, soft copies, websites and social media.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, including the ability to convey complex information in a clear and understandable way, and the capacity to negotiate at all levels of an organisation, both within BERA and externally.
• Having the personal stature and capability to influence a broad range of people including key decision makers/stakeholders.
• Highly organised in your approach to work, with the ability to prioritise your work under pressure to ensure it is completed accurately and to deadline, exercising initiative and working independently as appropriate.
• Excellent IT skills and computer literacy and familiarity with the Microsoft suite of software to intermediate level in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Email, Outlook, and the internet.
• Experience of working in academic publishing and with academic editors or contributors.
• A track record of having written, edited and published for a range of different audiences.
• Experience of having managed publications processes including tendering, commissioning and overseeing production.
• Experience in using own judgment and sound decision-making.

The BERA Office and Benefits

BERA has a small central office, designed to manage the day-to-day business of the Association. Its work is overseen by a Chief Executive appointed by Council, who is responsible for, and has oversight of, all BERA’s functions and activities. We offer a generous set of terms and conditions, including 27 days annual leave plus 10 closure days and bank holidays and 10% employers’ pension contribution.

The BERA office operates on a flexible working arrangement, with some core days in the office in Camden required of all staff. Flexibility is a central part of our offer to staff and for this role, we can discuss the amount of time required in the office for the duration of the role.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We’re looking for a Fundraising Engagement Manager with great personality and team ethic to join our Regional Fundraising team.

This is a role of variety, opportunity and innovation, and we are looking for someone who embraces change and constantly strives to achieve more.

You will maximise income for Young Live vs Cancer by coaching our supporters to reach their goals, whilst seeking out new fundraising opportunities for your geographical area. This role sits within the ‘Regional Engagement’ team and we need someone with natural customer service skills who wants to deliver an excellent experience to all of their supporters. Your team of supporters will range from volunteers and individuals, to groups and local corporates.

The North & East of Scotland is an area filled with some of our most committed supporters but there is still so much opportunity to grow corporate support across the counties. Our Social Workers support families from hospitals across the region, and our Home from Home, ‘Ciaran’s House’ in Edinburgh, enables families to stay close to their loved one for free during treatment, so building relationships with these teams are a must.

Candidates should live within North & East Scotland, in one of the following counties: Aberdeenshire, Angus, Clackmannanshire, Dundee, Edinburgh & the Lothians, Fife, Highland, Inverness, Moray or Perth & Kinross. The Royal Parks (TRP) is a charity created in March 2017. We manage over 5,000 acres of diverse parkland, rare habitats and historic buildings and monuments in eight Royal Parks across London. The Role

As a Park Officer, you will assist in the management of Greenwich Park, focusing on developing and enhancing contract and service delivery.

Assisting the Park Manager and Assistant Park Manager, you will ensure excellent presentation of the park, safe facilities for visitors and good grounds maintenance.

About the role

As Christmas Stories Officer, you will work closely with Crisis at Christmas guests and Crisis members with lived experience of homelessness to share their stories.

As part of the Stories team, you will visit Crisis at Christmas services and build relationships with guests, provide them with the information they need to make an informed decision about sharing their stories and support them through the process. You will work with them to create packages of creative story content that may include photos, video, or written content.  

You will support the Stories team in Christmas planning and delivering the storytelling during Crisis at Christmas. You will lead on editing, reviewing, and signing off content with Christmas guests in a safe and ethical way.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will be a creative storyteller who is able to collaborate and build relationships with a wide variety of people.

You’ll be a great writer and editor who loves to tell interesting stories. You may have experience interviewing people, and you’ll enjoy building relationships and rapport with others. You may have experience in photography too.

You will be passionate about supporting people to get their voice heard, and about ending homelessness. Your knowledge of safeguarding and GDPR and your attention to detail will ensure processes are followed to share stories safely and ethically.

You’ll be able to manage your work independently and work as part of a team, and you might have some project management experience.  

You may have experience in, journalism, stories roles, PR and media, marketing, campaigning, oral history, co-production, photography, videography, content production.

We do this through the Parkinson’s Excellence Network (PEN), a network of around 6,000 health and care professionals with a shared vision: to build an expert Parkinson’s workforce and improve health and care services for people with Parkinson’s.

We bring together and support health and care professionals to share best practice, network and collaborate, share resources and education, and drive improvements to services for people with Parkinson’s and their loved ones.

Since its establishment in 2015, the Excellence Network has provided networking and collaboration opportunities for professionals across the different regions of the UK. In England, the Excellence Network is moving to a new regional model aligned to the 7 NHS England regions. The regional model in the devolved nations will remain the same: 3 regions in Scotland, 2 in Wales and 1 in Northern Ireland.

To help us deliver this new regional model, we are looking for a healthcare professional to take on the role of Regional Clinical Lead on a consultancy basis.

You’ll:

• Be expected to co-opt a multidisciplinary leadership team to support you in your role. This team should reflect the multi-professional composition of regional services, as well as the geography and should include at least one person with Parkinson's.

• Inspire, challenge and collaborate with the health and social care professional community to drive significant improvements to Parkinson’s services across your region.
• Act as a professional ambassador for the Excellence Network and help represent the professionals in your region.
• Engage with Integrated Care Board (ICB) leaders to help influence the development of your Integrated Care System (ICS).
• Work closely with the Professional Engagement team at Parkinson’s UK to organise and hold engagement opportunities in your region. This will include working with the team to hold and lead at least one in-person meeting in your region per year.
• Attend the annual in-person PEN National and Regional Clinical Leads meeting.
• Support the PEN national calendar of events through attendance or promotion. This includes Excellence Hub meetings and other activities centred around our national priorities.
• Work closely with the PEN National Clinical Leadership Team (CLT) to discuss and review national and regional priorities. Attend a virtual meeting with CLT 2 times per year.

• Be a UK-based clinical healthcare professional, working in Parkinson’s or with extensive interest and expertise in the condition, with exceptional interpersonal and influencing skills. Healthcare professionals living with Parkinson’s are also encouraged to apply.

• Be provided with an introduction pack, which outlines all the activities of the PEN at a national, regional and local level, so that you can gain an understanding of where your role fits in.
• Meet regularly with the Professional Engagement team to discuss and plan activity in your region, working to a co-developed engagement plan for your PEN region. We will be flexible, taking into account your individual needs.
• Meet with the Professional Engagement Lead or Associate Director of Policy & Health Strategy after 6 months in the role for a review meeting and then annually thereafter (or more frequently if required).
• Be provided with a set of resources and information to support you in your role eg. a ready made presentation on the PEN, data from the services within your patch, including relevant data from the UK Parkinson’s Audit.
• Be invited to an annual event for the National and Regional Clinical Leads, to provide updates, training and opportunities for discussion.

• Time commitment will be 0.5 days per week (1 programmed activity) to be worked flexibly across the month.
• Monthly rate will be based on skills and experience.
• Term of consultancy services will be set tenure of 3 years from date of appointment, with an option to extend once for a further 3 years.

Examinations Coordinator (Clinical)

As Examinations Coordinator (Clinical) you will support the Overseas Examinations Manager by coordinating the operational delivery of all aspects of MRCPCH clinical examination activity, engaging clinicians to deliver examinations to the required standard, on schedule and to budget.

This is a crucial role within the Clinical Assessments Team as you will undertake routine forward planning to work with the Overseas Examination Manager to support hosts for exams and related exam preparation whilst also supporting the recruitment, training and performance review of MRCPCH examiners.

With line management responsibility for two administrators, you will provide input into monitoring and evaluating each clinical exam delivered, to ensure standards are maintained and candidate and examiner feedback is captured, whilst identifying and reporting on key concerns for future improvement, development and delivery.

In addition, you will provide committee administration support, including developing schedules for committees, ensuring they adhere to RCPCH Governance arrangements.

Educated to A-level standard or with relevant experience in a similar role, you will have outstanding communication skills and be adept at managing stakeholder relationships.

With an awareness of the principles of effective project management, risk mitigation, risk management and governance, you will be able to find pragmatic solutions, seek improvements and adapt to changing situations.

You will also have the ability to act to minimise errors and inaccuracies, whilst maintaining high standards of accuracy and correctness in dealing with information and data.

Your excellent report writing skills will enable you to present information in a fluent and persuasive manner to people at a range of levels.

A good knowledge of topics relating to assessments and exams along with previous experience in exams and/or assessments would be desirable.

We are looking for someone to be a Membership and Engagement Lead in our small team that works with hundreds of members to help them promote and build Good Lives with people with learning disabilities.

Learning Disability England works hard to be member-led and this post plays an important role in that. They are responsible for making sure all our work with members, partners, and the wider community demonstrates Learning Disability England’s values in action.  

We have two part-time Membership and Engagement Leads in our team. They work together to support members and the movement for change.  

One of our Membership and Engagement leads is going to be leading a national project for the next year. This post is currently temporary to cover that secondment.

We are a small staff team of 7 people mostly working part time. All of us are home based and work flexibly. Annual leave  entitlement is 27 days plus Statutory Holidays pro rata
