• Responsible for strategic financial leadership, shaping the charity’s financial direction with direction from and reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and Board of Trustees.

• Lead on all aspects of financial planning, forecasting, and analysis, ensuring management accounting principles are robust for sound decision making by the Senior Leadership Team.
• Ensure all budget holders are provided with the relevant training and support as non-financial managers on understanding management accounts, how budgets work, staffing appropriately within budgets and dealing with over/under spending ‘in year’ to provide consistent financial decision-making in Operations.

Job purpose and background

The Physiological Society, whose purpose is to support the science, teaching and understanding of physiology, has a growing family of both hybrid and Open Access journals. These journals are given support by our publishing partners. The journals publish important advances in our knowledge of physiology that increase our understanding of how our bodies function in health and disease. They are highly regarded in the international physiological community. Between them, the journals have published the work of over 40 Nobel Prize winners, among them Sir Alan Hodgkin, Sir Andrew Huxley, and Sir Bernard Katz.

Reporting to the Managing Editor, the Editorial Assistant will provide vital support to the publishing team. Duties are varied, including editorial board administration, compiling and reporting journal statistics, updating websites, promoting content via social media, videos, coordinating peer review, and general office administration. This is an exciting time to join a busy, diverse and agile team within The Physiological Society.

The ideal candidates will have have an undergraduate degree, preferably in a life science. They will be keen to learn and willing to apply themselves to every aspect of the role.  With an analytical approach to data collection and analysis, they will have a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Role Overview: 

Reporting to the Senior Events Manager, the Events Coordinator will be responsible for managing outdoor, parks and corporate events. From supporting enquiries to increase sales conversions to helping customers plan and manage their events safely and successfully. 

The Events Team are a busy, creative, tight knit group of vibrant professionals who are looking for someone to join the team who pride themselves in 5 start customer service and going the extra mile for their clients. In the Events Team we celebrate creative problem solving, autonomy and integrity in our approach to work. 

We are looking for someone who has previous experience with managing event applications and processing health and safety paperwork in parks, outdoor venues, or local authorities. Someone equally comfortable with advising professional event companies as well as supporting first-time community organisers and someone who can balance our commitment to not overwhelming our public spaces but also with a keen understanding of achieving revenue targets.

Main Duties/Responsibilities:  

Venue Management:

• Providing clients with venue availability, quotes, and conducting site visits
• Briefing clients on T&Cs for hire and licenses and supporting clients making event applications
• Ensuring all event application paperwork per event is complete and compliant with the requirements of the Event Policy
• Overseeing health & safety procedures; liaising with security personnel and conduct thorough site inspections before, during, and after events
• Working with internal & external contractors to secure the necessary services for each event and ensure clients are billed accurately
• Collaborating on developing new event opportunities to maximize revenue for the park(s)
• Communicating effectively with colleagues to ensure all park events and activities are well coordinated
• Maintaining clear communication with clients to address their needs and work with the site team to fulfill their requests
• Supporting and attending events / productions as required

Admin and Finance:

• Managing event bookings and venue schedules to maximise revenue
• Raising invoices and purchase orders for clients, tracking corporate bookings income and expenses, ensuring smooth cash flow, and keeping budget up to date
• Ensuring all supplier’s paperwork is checked and uploaded to the system
• Raising contracts and agreements, ensuring all aspects of the event are clearly outlined and protected
• Updating the booking system with all confirmed event details, ensuring all details are documented and ensuring efficient scheduling and avoiding conflicts
• Preparing and submitting TEN applications to relevant authorities for events requiring permits in public spaces or with specific restrictions
• Supporting the Head of Events and Senior Events Manager with various projects, taking ownership and initiative
   

Skills and Experience:  

• Minimum of 2 years experience planning and managing events, ensuring a positive client experience
• Management of multiple clients simultaneously, providing confident and patient guidance to clients
• Proficient in a range of office software; Outlook, Excel, Xero
• Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact effectively with clients, staff and senior management
• You thrive in fast-paced environments, managing multiple tasks and projects efficiently against deadlines
• Proactive approach and pride yourself on going the extra mile to create best customer experience possible
• You can work autonomously while readily collaborating with the wider events team

EIA is seeking a Data Analyst to join our Forest Team.

Location: London Islington

EIA investigates and campaigns against environmental crime and abuse. Our undercover investigations expose transnational wildlife and forest crimes. We work to safeguard global marine ecosystems reduce the impact of climate change by campaigning to eliminate powerful refrigerant greenhouse gases, exposing related illicit trade and improving energy efficiency in the cooling sector.

The role:
This role will primarily focus on data-related tasks within our Forests campaign. Key responsibilities will include data management, supporting data analysis and exploration, leading on generating visualizations to communicate insights effectively, and supporting trade analysis to identify trends. The role also involves supporting the monitoring of media stories and publications relevant to the Forests campaign.

About you:
To be successful in this role you need to have experience in handling data in different formats and database management, ensuring data is accurate, reliable and delivered to a high standard. Proficiency in coding languages such as R, Python, etc is essential.
Ideally you will have experience in environmental and/or social issues and relevant regulatory frameworks plus experience in the NGO sector. Experience in creating data visualizations would also be desirable.

What we offer:
This is a part time role working 24 hours per week – 0.6 FTE. The role is a Fixed Term Contract for 6 months. There is potential for extension subject to funding availability.

Young people from lower income families are 40% less likely to go to University than wealthier peers (Dept for Education, 2020) which can have a lifelong impact on earning potential. Covid-19 has deepened inequalities (Social Mobility Foundation, 2022) and negatively impacted on young people's wellbeing (GirlGuiding, 2020). We believe that no girls should have their futures limited by their gender, sex, ethnicity, background, or parental income and they should be supported to realise their ambitions, to discover their self-worth, and to develop their capacity to shape their world and their futures.

We work in communities of least advantage across England to deliver two core programmes to achieve this vision. Through our mentoring programme we connect 14-19 year old girls with a mentor and a wider network of role models who are women and deliver opportunities which help them to build life skills and nurture their ambitions. Based on the idea that 'you can't be what you can't see', our mentors often help girls to broaden their horizons and create a more positive vision of their futures. After the programme, the mentees can join a free, lifelong network of support - our Ambassador Community, which offers further opportunities to reach their goals, build their confidence and to share their voices and experiences.

THE ROLE

Purpose: To manage the effective implementation of programme delivery and development of Merseyside, Tyne and Wear, and Tees Valley Regions. This role will work with staff, schools and corporate partners to ensure that we deliver impact for the girls and young women we serve.

Manage The Girls’ Network mentoring (and other) programmes in your region:

Partnership development:

• Develop effective partnerships with new schools, recruiting them into The Girls’ Network’s programme to enable your team to meet regional targets. Maintaining relationships for successful renewals.
• Collaborate with fundraising colleagues during the engagement process of new corporate partners, to ensure regional targets and needs are met e.g. income, mentor numbers, programme content.
• Oversee delivery of mentor opportunities for the region’s corporate partnerships, ensuring Memorandum of Understanding are met, referring any issues of concern to the Fundraising team for support and guidance.
• Provide relevant information to fundraising and Monitoring Evaluation Research and Learning colleagues on any Tier 1 partners in the region, to enable production of evaluation reports
• Lead on delivery of the region’s awareness events, acting as the key contact person.
• Collaborate with the Fundraising & Communications team on key campaigns, e.g. International Womens’ Day, to reach key audiences and help build awareness and support income generation.

Mentor Community Development:

• Work with programme colleagues and the fundraising team to identify regional mentoring needs and coordinate the implementation of a mentor recruitment and engagement plan in your region, ensuring your region has an appropriate amount of mentors to run programmes.
• Lead on the implementation and delivery of the region’s events, acting as the key contact person.

Safeguarding support and leadership:

• Provide day-to-day safeguarding support for the Programme team in the North of the country – escalating issues to the Safeguarding lead where appropriate.
• Provide feedback on key safeguarding risks or issues, and needs for development or training to the Safeguarding Lead

Monitoring and evaluation:

• Oversee the collection of regional data and ensure that your staff keep Salesforce up to date with mentee, mentor, schools and partners relationships to effectively track the progress, and impact of mentoring relationships.
• Periodically evaluate and report on the progress and impact of The Girls’ Network initiatives in the region.
• Hold overall responsibility for regional targets, reporting to Senior Leadership Team.
• Manage and allocate the budget for the mentoring programme in the region, to cover workshops, celebration events, travel etc

Line Management of region’s Network Managers:

• Manage Network Managers in the region, through regular 1:1s and accountability of reporting.
• Support the wellbeing and professional development of your regional team.
• Cover or support with programme delivery when needed.

Grow our network in your region:

• Identify opportunities for growth in North region and work with Senior Leadership Team to develop regional strategy
• Advocate and promote The Girls’ Network at every opportunity to raise awareness of the charity and encourage community members to become mentors

Programme Leadership within The Girls’ Network Team:

Learning & Development

• Provide shadowing opportunities to Network Managers in other regions.
• As agreed with the Co-Executive Director - Programmes (Interim), travel to other regions to provide targeted training to other Network Managers.
• Coordinate Network Managers’ induction and recruitment.
• Contribute to The Girls’ Network culture of shared learning

Responsibility for an additional workstream:

This is a new and exciting role to support the ongoing growth and development of the Men’s Sheds movement and specifically the work of the UK Men’s Sheds Association (UKMSA) made possible through long term support from a funder.

Having celebrated ten years of UKMSA in 2023, we are now looking forward to the next ten years with an ambitious target and programme to support and facilitate the growth of the Men’s Shed movement and the health and vitality of Sheds, together with campaigning for happier and healthier men with programmes to improve wellbeing, reduce loneliness, anxiety, depression and ultimately save lives.

We are a small team, and the Head of Operations will be required to deliver against their own agreed targets, as well as supervise the work of others. The Head of Operations will be a member of the organisation’s Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and have day to day line management responsibility for five staff or contractors.

We are looking to recruit an Assistant Designer to join our team based in London. You will join us on a full-time, permanent basis, and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £29,500 per annum.

Purpose of the Assistant Designer role:

The Assistant Designer will support the Exhibitions and Interpretation department to develop and deliver graphic design across the Museum, working closely with the Designer. They will design both permanent and temporary exhibition graphics, as well as designing wayfinding signage for the Museum sites and supporting wider Museum departments with design requests, such as events marketing materials.

The Assistant Designer will support the delivery of the Museum’s Midlands Development Programme, developing and delivering graphic design for exhibition updates and wayfinding graphics, as well as supporting co-creation activities with local communities.

Key responsibilities of our Assistant Designer include:

• Designing and managing production of exhibition graphics, wayfinding and signage at both Museum sites, including permanent and temporary exhibitions 3
• Supporting Museum departments with graphic design production as required, working closely with the Communications and Marketing, Retail, Learning and Engagement, Visitor Experience and Development teams
• Responding to graphic design helpdesk requests in a timely manner
• Ensuring signage at both public sites is up to date, liaising with the Visitor Experience teams
• Upholding the Museum Style Guide in all graphic design • To ensure that graphic design is accessible for all visitors
• Ensuring all projects are delivered within agreed budgets to defined deadlines to the highest quality standards of display and interpretation
• Testing new ideas and ways of engaging wider audiences with Museum stories and collections through innovative graphic design

What we are looking for in our Assistant Designer:

• Educated to degree level or equivalent experience in graphic design
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite and other 3D and 2D design software
• Displays enthusiasm around activities, adopting a positive approach when interacting with others, and motivating team members
• Uses experience and knowledge of standard practices, procedures or customs to evaluate problems and make appropriate decisions/provide appropriate advice
• Is able to organise own activities to deliver to expected standards and targets.

The Disability Law Service (DLS) seeks an experienced, strategic charity leader who is passionate about Disabled people’s rights to join as our new part time Chief Executive Officer. You will lead a committed team of lawyers and advisers to ensure Disabled people can access those rights in full.
 
DLS is a pan-Disabled people’s organisation based in London, providing free legal advice, casework, and representation for Disabled people, their families, and carers. As a Deaf & Disabled People’s Organisation (DDPO), the majority of our Trustees and staff are Disabled people. We operate on the social model of disability, aiming to fight injustice and challenge the poverty and inequality faced by Disabled people, ensuring equal access to legal rights and entitlements.
 
We offer free specialist legal advice in areas such as community care, employment, housing, welfare benefits, discrimination, and public law. We connect Disabled individuals, their carers, and families with qualified solicitors and advisers, providing services including the MS Legal Advice Line, MS Welfare Benefits Advice, and Legal Aid Service. DLS also offers bespoke training on disability law and the Equality Act, empowering organisations to support their clients better.
 
Engaging in policy work, we also advocate for legal reforms, such as abolishing non-residential care charges and campaigning for equal care rights for autistic children. Annually, DLS assists around nearly 5,000 people, securing over £3 million in gains for our clients.
 
As our new CEO, you will lead us to grow our organisational capacity, as well as develop our policy influencing work, in order to maximise the impact we make for Disabled people nationally.
