Role purpose:
We are seeking a dynamic, experienced manager to manage our part in “On track for inclusive train travel”, a research, scoping and piloting project, aiming to make rail travel more accessible and inclusive for disabled people. This project is being delivered alongside RNIB as lead partner, and funded by Motability Foundation, working with our members Community Rail Lancashire (CRL) and Gloucestershire & Oxfordshire CRP (GOCRP) to engage disabled people and shine a light on lived experience.
You will work closely with RNIB and their project manager, forming part of a small project team to ensure the success of this exciting project. You will support CRL & GOCRP in their coordination of local engagement with disabled people, helping to facilitate a pan-disability, empowering approach that draws on and champions expertise by experience. Ensuring excellent collaboration with railway partners is also key to this role, enabling us to co-create an effective, adaptable model for training, learning and culture change that can be deployed across the railways as they are reformed and renationalised.
Responsibilities
Project and local engagement coordination
- Work closely with the RNIB project manager and as part of the project team to help ensure effective planning, coordination, management, communication and the overall success of this project, in line with its purpose and aims;
- Ensure excellent coordination and communication with the two community rail partnerships, supporting their delivery of empowering, high-quality engagement, in line with project plans, requirements and objectives;
- Ensure CRL and GOCRP are enabled to play their part effectively, using their expertise and local relationships to bring the experiences, ideas and voices of disabled people to the fore, while engaging railway staff constructively, to research, develop and test our model, and forge ongoing dialogue and understanding between the disabled community and railway;
- Take a particular lead in utilising and championing co-creation principles and empowering ways of working, across this project and its partners, and in building a legacy;
- Coordinate closely with our core railway partners helping to develop and test our model, and work across the rail industry, including engaging existing inclusion and accessibility forums and networks, to support the research phase and generally build on community rail’s positive relationships and ability to support inclusive railway practices;
- Manage Community Rail Network’s budget and monitor the CRPs’ budgets in partnership with their project leads, ensuring these are in line with agreed grant funding;
- Maintain and uphold our partner agreements and MoU with RNIB.
Research, evaluation and reporting
- Work as part of the project team to engage railway partners and jointly deliver effective research, as part of the ‘discovery’ phase, to understand current practices and issues within the railway around accessibility and inclusion, and opportunities to improve this;
- Support the CRPs and their interaction with RNIB’s research and innovation staff and our academic advisor, helping them play a strong part in the discovery phase, and model development and testing, involving the disabled community and railway staff members;
- Support effective recording and evaluation by the CRPs, ensuring this is in line with project requirements, and serves our goals around legacy-building and empowering those involved;
- Advise and feed into RNIB on the completion of grant reports and financial statements, including coordinating and reviewing input, data and reports from the CRPs;
- Maintain strong relations with Motability, as part of the project team.
Legacy building, communications and influencing
- Continually feed into our senior team and the project board on insights emerging from the programme to help us advocate for more inclusive, confident (rail) travel for disabled people;
- Support and feed into Community Rail Network and RNIB’s strategic work engaging with rail reform and transformation, such as attending meetings and providing briefings, reports and recommendations, to help us seize opportunities to advocate for positive change;
- Attend and speak at community rail and other relevant events to develop awareness of the project, share its lessons, and promote our model;
- Work with Community Rail Network and RNIB’s communications teams, and other colleagues and partners, to promote the project and its achievements, and amplify the voices/views/needs of disabled people, across our networks and build a legacy.
General team working
- Contribute to the wider objectives and development of Community Rail Network, especially by sharing project progress and learnings, and offering advice and input.
- Help our member support & development team to embed lessons from the project on involving and empowering disabled people.
- Contribute to the maintenance and development of our internal systems (e.g. shared drive, CRM) such as by data capturing relevant contacts and saving documentation.
- As a member of the Community Rail Network team, assist with more general work as needed.
Skills and competencies
- A proven track record in project management, including coordinating between multiple delivery partners and ensuring project/funding requirements are met, and supporting/overseeing effective monitoring and evaluation.
- Demonstrable experience in supporting community engagement, ideally related to inclusion, disability and/or mobility, and a good understanding of and confidence using engagement, project planning, and evaluation techniques to develop and support such initiatives.
- The ability to collaborate and communicate with community groups and other local partners, draw on their views and expertise, and support them to build capacity and confidence.

Other information
This post is home-based, but with travel (including occasional overnight stays) for project meetings, events and external meetings. Applicants will need local access to a train station to enable rail-based travel for work as needed.

About the role
With ambitious targets to support thousands more children by 2029, Chapter One is seeking a passionate, energetic Fundraising Officer to be an integral part of our Fundraising team. Reporting to our Trusts & Foundations Manager, you’ll generate income from a range of existing and new trusts and foundations, along with individual fundraising activities to contribute towards the 2024-25 fundraising target of £278,000, rising to £348,000 in 2025-26 in which you’ll have an individual target.

Key Responsibilities
Deliver the fundraising plan
● Work collaboratively with the Trusts & Foundations Manager to grow Chapter One’s fundraising portfolio and meet agreed income targets from trusts and foundations.
● Maintain a portfolio of existing trusts and foundations, ensuring an excellent cultivation and stewardship journey in order to build relationships and maximise income.
● Proactively identify and research new prospective trust funders, finding creative ways to engage with them to secure support.
● Create compelling and tailored fundraising applications and reports, ensuring there is a strong emotional case for support and accuracy, to inspire prospects and supporters across trusts and foundations.

The Chief Executive is responsible for providing leadership, developing, and implementing FWP strategic and operation plans, leading on partnership and development across Government, military charities and key stakeholders and being an advocate for the charity and its beneficiaries. Duties and Responsibilities
Leadership
Be the principal ambassador of the charity.
To work in close partnership with the Chair and Board of Trustees to design, shape and implement the new strategy.
Lead, support, and motivate all staff, creating a positive culture throughout the organisation, delivering the charity’s aims, objectives, and ambitions.
Seek out, develop, and maintain effective working relationships with the Government and all relevant stakeholders to promote the work of the charity and facilitate the implementation of its strategic objectives.

Oversee the development and practical application of all organisational policies and procedures e.g. with regard to health and safety, equality and diversity, and safeguarding.
Ensure the charity complies with best practice in all areas of operation.
Oversee the designated safeguarding lead ensuring the safeguarding of the vulnerable adults with whom the charity works through rigorous DBS procedures and staff training.
Take responsibility for the collection and protection of personal information ensuring this complies with relevant Data Protection regulations.

In this new role you will be responsible for overseeing the UKST’s income generation strategy, ensuring the growth of diverse revenue streams to support the charity’s mission. The latest research suggesting that the number of children and young people at risk of hunger has rocketed to 2.7 million* means that one in five children don't have enough to eat. When a child is too hungry to learn, when they’re aching for something to eat, they can’t concentrate. They can’t absorb information. Big feelings and worries can be impossible to control. They fall behind in their studies.
Magic Breakfast provide a nutritious and filling breakfast to over 200,000 children and young people every school day. We work with schools in areas of high disadvantage, helping staff target the children most in need without barrier or stigma. Magic Breakfast are ambitious to grow our impact to remove hunger as a barrier to learning for all children and young people in the UK.
The new UK government’s Children’s Wellbeing Bill outlined in the King’s Speech, includes a requirement for free school breakfast clubs in every English primary school. This is a fantastic start towards ending child morning hunger. Magic Breakfast’s influence will be instrumental to ensuring school breakfasts are introduced in a way that is hunger-focused and barrier free. In 2021, the Scottish Government, pledged a not yet enacted promise to provide breakfast to primary children.
Thousands of secondary school children are at risk of losing their free school breakfasts from September next year. For many of these students, this is their only opportunity to have a nutritious meal before facing a demanding school day, including taking exams.
Solutions across all UK nations are currently either not yet actioned or are severely underserving the current need. JOB PURPOSE
Magic Breakfast’s mission is to end child morning hunger in the UK now and for good. The role of the Policy and Public Affairs Manager is to support us to deliver on this mission through influencing governments to address child morning hunger and the underlying systemic causes, in order to give every child the opportunity to reach their full potential.
The Policy and Public Affairs Manager will play a pivotal role in shaping policy initiatives and influencing decision makers across Westminster and Whitehall. Specifically, you will help ensure the new Early Adopters Programme – the government’s pilot breakfast scheme in England – is hunger-focused and puts children and young people at its centre. This in turn, will inform the national rollout of primary school breakfast provision across England from September 2026 – a policy which you will also work to influence. In tandem, you will be responsible for informing and shaping how breakfast is included and positioned in the Children’s Wellbeing Bill.

General Function:

We are seeking a highly skilled finance professional to perform this essential senior leadership, strategic financial and management position in our London headquarters. The approximate annual income for Internews Europe and its subsidiaries, of which the post-holder has oversight, is c. £20m.
The post-holder will report directly to the COO for Internews Europe. The post-holder will be a leader on matters of corporate financial strategy, inter-Alliance financial accounting, budget management, and overall accounting operations.

The Finance Director is a key member of the Senior Management Team (SMT) in London, in addition to other international management units.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Key Strategic Deliverables will include the following:
· Lead on strategic financial management of Internews Europe, promoting effective and efficient processes to ensure the financial health and sustainability of the organisation.
· Oversee and deliver on the statutory audit and delivery of the Annual Report and Accounts in line with UK charity requirements.
· Act as the focal point in all financial matters for the Internews Board of Trustees, Finance and Audit subcommittee and the Senior Management Team (SMT)
· Act as the primary Finance Team representative of Internews Europe in the relationship with Alliance partners, modelling and implementing improvements in the recording of financial data and transactions and improving financial reporting to the Programme Management Units.
· Ensure timely production of financial management information to key stakeholders across the organisation to enable informed decision making and alterations to existing plans where required.
· Co-ordination of the annual organisational budget preparation process and ensure effective budget oversight and management by project and department managers
· Promote strong collaboration with colleagues from Grants and Contracts and Development Teams to reforecast and test progress towards annual targets for income and expenditure.
· Ensuring professional and compliant delivery of all Internews Europe financial processes, to drive improvements in processes and ensure all staff understand and adopt such processes
Finance Department operations Specific duties with support from the Finance Team will include the following:
· Management of the Finance Team, providing effective leadership and creating an environment where Finance staff can learn and develop professionally
· Oversight of core accounting processes including cash-flow planning and management, accounts payable and receivable, and analysis of the balance sheet debtors and creditors
· Management of the relationship for resource sharing and associated accounting transactions arising with the other entities in the Alliance network to facilitate combined management/programmatic reporting when required, while ensuring sufficient financial controls to ensure distinct financial reporting and protection of separate legal entity status.
· Oversight of international banking processes (GBP and foreign currency, income and payments) and Treasury management to minimise organisational risk and negative foreign exchange valuations.
· Primary holder of the Banking relationship, including monitoring banking arrangements in international offices
· Co-ordinate the monthly payroll process with HR colleagues and the external payroll bureau
Oversight of subsidiary financial processes
· Currently Internews Europe has two subsidiaries, Internews International (II) based in France and Internews Media Development based in Ireland, currently dormant.
· Oversight of financial processes including relevant controls, policies and procedures
· Oversight of financial reporting in accordance with relevant GAAP and regulatory requirements.
· Monitor local regulatory requirements and ensure compliance with relevant tax and reporting and audit requirements
Key Stakeholder Engagement and Compliance
· Primary advisor to SMT of ramifications of strategic decisions, including financial, tax and other regulatory impacts
· Input to strategic development initiatives regarding appropriate application of donor funding mechanisms and utilization of subsidiaries.
· Ensure compliance with the UK regulatory regime and with the requirements of our principal funders and other supporters
· Lead responsibility for ensuring the maintenance and regular review of all statutory and best practice policies and procedures, staff training and socialization of changes
· Assisting the Programme teams with interpretation of donor compliance requirements, their translation into Internews Europe operational and/or financial procedures, and their effective implementation
Participation in global business operations leadership
· Collaborate with other members of the global senior leadership team for efficient operations and execution of the mission
· Collaboration with Information Technology and Solutions for effective implementation of software and other technology solutions, providing information and expertise and support for appropriate budgeting and expense allocation.
· Collaboration with Enterprise Risk Management and Security team regarding identification and mitigation of financial and other risks, as well as preparing policy and reports in accordance with Charity Commission guidelines
· Collaboration with People and Culture team to ensure appropriate labour regulations, Internews policies, procedures and financial controls are adhered to in the processing of payroll and other benefits; includes oversight and development of payments to employees and consultants working outside of the UK on Internews projects.

About the job
In this temporary position, the Program Officer will fill a unique, multi-faceted role that offers the opportunity to leverage their program management experience to help lead a complex global coalition at the intersection of human rights and technology. This is a temporary position, maternity leave cover, with an expected end date of April 15, 2026. This position will support a global Internet freedom initiative that will support local civil society, independent media, and human rights defenders to better prevent and respond to digital repression in their own contexts, particularly in repressive contexts. The activity focuses on building long-term, local resilience among civil society through a networked approach involving global, regional, and local actors. The activity provides technical assistance on digital security, digital governance advocacy and engagement, censorship circumvention, and holistic legal, psychosocial, and physical security support.
Under the guidance of the Deputy Chief of Party and in coordination with the larger project team (including the Advisors and Chief of Party), the Program Officer will oversee the implementation of activities, ensuring strong coordination with other project objectives, and compliance with USAID and Internews policies. The Program Officer will work closely with project partners, support internal coordination efforts, and be responsible for effectively sharing the impact and successes of the program. Further, the Program Officer will support, when needed, the business development, start up and oversight of related Associate Awards and Buy-Ins.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, with other duties upon request:
Program/Project Management:
- Provide project management and program implementation oversight, strategic planning, analysis, personnel, grants, procurement and finance tasks as needed.
- Serve as primary point of contact for regional and local partners
- Assist in the development of team systems, norms and practices.
- Supervise at least one (1) full-time staff, including assigning work, approving timesheets and managing their workload (as needed).
- Cultivate and strengthen relationships with international, regional and local partner organizations and ensure that implementation is responsive to the needs of partners and beneficiaries.
- Support the MEL Specialist and the MEL Partner in developing and implementing strong MEL frameworks and activities, ensuring that all project partners understand MEL requirements.
- Support the development of Associate Award and Buy-In proposals, project start-up and ongoing coordination; ensuring (when needed) that project staff are onboarded, existing processes and approaches are shared, and regular communication occurs across all relevant teams.
Administration & Finance:
- Manage the implementation, communication and programmatic oversight of all subgrants (PASS and HQ managed) issued under Civic DEFENDERS. This includes reviewing the prospective grantee applications, program and design, budget negotiations, payments and partner reporting.
- Ensure all funder approval request packages are complete and ready to be sent by the COP/DCOP.
- Oversee all administrative aspects of the Civic DEFENDERS digital governance activities, in coordination with the COP, DCOP and Business Management team.
- In coordination with the Business Management team, ensure program implementation complies with funder requirements and Internews’ policies and procedures.
- Oversee the implementation of personal service contracts, outside service contracts and simple service contracts.
- Support COP, DCOP and Advisors in ensuring that timelines are met, deliverables and approvals tracked.
- Support hiring efforts for project staff and consultants, including ensuring effective onboarding.
Writing & Research:
- Support the writing and compiling of program reporting, including quarterly reports and annual workplans, ensuring the final product sent for DCOP/COP review is complete and timely.

- Support internal and external communications, including website, 2-pagers, summaries, etc.
- Represent team and Internews at events, as needed.
