Background

Newham Parent Forum (NPF) is a voluntary group of parents and carers of children and young people (0-25) with special/additional needs and disabilities (SEND) living in the London Borough of Newham. We provide an opportunity for parents and carers to express their views and input into the planning and delivery of SEND services.

We signpost and empower families to obtain the best possible support and services for their children. The work of the forum is supported by Contact, and we are a member of the National Network of Parent Carer Forums (NNPCF).

The work of the forum is funded by DFE and supported by Contact. ‘Contact for Families with Disabled Children’.

CB Plus (CommUNITY Barnet) has been appointed by the Forum to act as a local host and provide a range of support including recruitment.

 About the Role

This is a self-employed role. We are seeking a highly motivated and organised Self-Employed Administration Officer to join our team on a part-time basis. As a self-employed contractor, you will have flexibility to manage your working hours, with a requirement to be present at the office at least twice a month. In this role, you will be the backbone of our office, providing exceptional administrative support and ensuring the smooth day-to-day operations of the forum.

The role:

This is an exciting time to join the Charity as it embarks on a new chapter of its strategic objectives in grant giving. Leading People’s Economy’s approach to training

• With support from the Programme Director, lead the development of People’s Economy’s approach to training and workshops to create an approach and set of standards to be applied across the organisation.
• Stay abreast of developments in training best practice across similar organisations and use this knowledge to further develop People’s Economy’s training approach.
• Develop resources (e.g. types of training exercises) that can be used across People’s Economy’s training work
• Support colleagues and freelancers to implement People’s Economy’s training approach, including through delivering ‘train the trainer’ training and creating learning resources
• Work with the Programme Director to create processes to oversee the quality and delivery of all of People’s Economy’s training
• Lead on monitoring and evaluation of, and learning from, People’s Economy’s training work ensuring that it informs the subsequent development of training
• With support from the Programme Director create and implement plans to build and maintain our training infrastructure and increase our training capacity.

Training for Changemakers

• With support from the Programme Director, design and develop our training offer.

• Feed in from a training perspective to the development of People’s Economy’s changemaker community of practice led by the Head of Community

Managing projects and people

• Work with the Head of People and Operations to recruit and manage a pool of freelancer Associate Trainers to help deliver People’s Economy’s training work, and lead the training of freelancers to do this work
• Manage freelancers contributing to People’s Economy’s training work and any staff roles which (in future) report to Head of Training
• Manage (or contribute to) non-programme projects that contribute to achieving People’s Economy’s goals, as agreed with the Programme Director

Financial management and income generation

• With support from the Programme Director, develop and manage budgets when leading programmes and projects

Hybrid working

This is a hybrid role. You will be working from home and join Team Together Days in a co-working space in London 2-3 individual days each month. These days are considered commuting days. We know how much difference a Health Play Specialist can make to children who are 
seriously ill and for a lot of hospitals and community healthcare settings these roles can fall by

About the role

As members of the Community Directorate we aim to reach out to and support people with Parkinson’s, their families, friends and carers.  We enable the voice of people affected by Parkinson’s to be heard to improve services, inform our priorities and improve decision making locally. 

Through community development we work in close collaboration with our Parkinson’s community to bring change on the issues that matter most to people affected by Parkinson’s.

You’ll provide high quality business support to the Northern Ireland Director and team. 

What you’ll do:

• Provide administrative support to the Director of Northern Ireland
• Provide first point of contact for all internal and external stakeholders
• Organise online and in-person, internal and external meetings and other events, including booking venues and refreshments, assisting with the production of materials, fulfilling mailings and taking bookings as required
• Work across the team in Northern Ireland to ensure our records are up to date on all the current activities we and others support and that these are recorded on the local activity database
• Keep up to date with the directorate’s activities in order to provide clear, accurate information

What you’ll bring:

• Experience of team administration or supporting a senior executive
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and negotiate when required at all levels internally and externally. 
• Ability to work co-productively with people living with Parkinson’s
• Excellent administration skills, including note-taking, presentation preparation and a positive, assertive and resilient approach to prioritising and juggling varying pressures and conflicting priorities 
• Experience in coordinating multiple projects simultaneously that meet the business requirements

This role sits within the Community Education and Training team, working to support our learners to access, complete and progress through our wide range of adult learning provision. The main focus will be on providing additional support for learners who need wrap-around support relating to a range of additional personal and educational needs. This could include welfare, personal and family support and wider mental health and wellbeing support or additional learning needs such as dyslexia, ADHD, literacy support and other needs.

You will work with the team to implement strategies and support plans for individuals to aid learning and enhance educational experience. You will support the team’s administrator to monitor learner’s attendance, contacting them via phone, email or arranging a meeting in person where pastoral support is needed.

You will work with our Adult Safeguarding Lead to support safeguarding cases across our departments, including keeping safeguarding records, making referrals and building a database of local support services available to learners and other service users.

You will also support wider functions in the team such as contributing to the organisation of our termly learners’ forum to celebrate achievement and attending events in the community to publicise our work.

In this position, you will support the Senior Policy and Public Affairs Lead with the development and implementation of the organisation’s national influencing plan with a view to raising the profile and influence amongst policy stakeholders and decision-makers. You will conduct primary and secondary research to develop and be in support of policy priorities. You will produce reports on research findings and support with the delivery of events. You will co-ordinate influencing and campaigning activity. You will draft policy documents which include consultation responses, parliamentary debate briefings and summaries.
 
To be considered for this role you will have at least two years’ experience in a policy/research environment. You will have experience of public affairs campaigning. You will have experience of implementing public affairs plans and stakeholder mapping. You will be IT literate, with experience of using Microsoft Office and document management systems. You will have an understanding of parliamentary and legislative processes and knowledge of current social policy which relates to children and social policy.

The Youth Participation and Support Worker will work with care experienced young people subject to immigration controls, to tackle the injustice and inequity of the systems, policies and procedures that define their lives.

Tearfund is looking for a Data & Resources Officer who is passionate about serving those living in poverty by providing excellent customer service to our supporters.

Our team enables the transformative work of Tearfund around the world by serving Tearfund's UK based supporters. The successful candidate will be working on one of Tearfund's front lines providing a personal link and building relationships between our supporters and ourselves. Your role will involve answering supporter queries by email, letter and answering telephone calls from supporters; as well as to carry out additions, deletions and amendments to the supporter database, in order to maintain and increase the accuracy of the database.

Our team also manages Toilet Twinning & Tearfund Resources orders. This will also be answering supporter queries and working with an external fulfilment house to ensure that orders are sent out in a timely manner.

We are delighted to be supporting a national health focused charity to find a part time, temporary Helpline Support Services Volunteer Officer. This role is for 6 months for 21 hours per week and offers hybrid working with only one day per month in their London Office.

You will support with the recruitment, training and development of Helpline Volunteers and Befriending Volunteers. Supporting volunteers in carrying out their roles effectively in providing emotional support, information, and befriending support to people affected by MS.

You will provide support and guidance to volunteers within the Helpline services team including recruitment and training. You will also provide continuous service referral management for national befriending service and provide continuous support to Befriending Volunteers.

You will also support the Helpline Services Volunteer Manager with embedding new volunteer projects into the Helpline and answer enquiries through a range of channels giving up to date, quality, trusted information and emotional support.

The role will require you to contribute to Helpline services out of hours cover between 5-7pm on a weekly basis including supporting volunteers and staff on evening shifts and support with managing safeguarding enquiries as part of the Safeguarding Responder Group including filling in relevant forms and providing relevant. You will also coordinate volunteer recognition events at regular intervals that increase engagement and development.
