About the oppurtunity:
You will help drive the quality and impact of our key stage 2 (KS2) and key stage 4 (KS4) maths tutoring programmes through subject-specific training of volunteer tutors, and by advising and supporting our (mostly) non-teaching staff members who manage these volunteer tutors day to day.

You will also observe and give feedback to volunteer tutors delivering maths tuition, and deliver general training for new volunteers, so that they are confident and effective in taking part in our tutoring programmes.

Specific responsibilities relating to the role:

Supporting the delivery of our maths curriculum: 

• Design and deliver online maths-focused training for volunteer tutors so that subject knowledge is secure within the tutor community.
• Provide advice and support, including some direct tutor communications, on subject-specific matters for Action Tutoring staff who manage volunteer tutors.
• Maintain existing tutoring GCSE and KS2 maths curriculum resources to ensure volunteer tutors have high quality materials to use in sessions.
• Support Action Tutoring’s Programme Department to provide and respond to requests for additional materials for tutoring sessions, particularly maths sessions.
• Support with creation of additional maths resources on an ad hoc basis as required, applying Action Tutoring’s pedagogical approach and standards for diversity, equity and inclusion.
• Format any newly generated maths curriculum content for printing.
• Reformat maths curriculum resources for online delivery of tutoring sessions.
• Engage in learning and development opportunities in order to keep knowledge about the expectations set out in the maths national curriculum (KS2 and KS4) and the main exam boards up to date.

Quality assuring tutoring delivery:

• Observe several virtual tutoring sessions a week. Make detailed and unbiased notes on tutor skills, craft empathetic constructive feedback in emails.
• Support our programme delivery team to craft communications and feedback to tutors.
• Produce ‘quality tips’ and resources for tutors and staff.
• Work with Action Tutoring’s volunteer engagement team to feedback trends so that the quality assurance process at the tutor application stage is as strong as possible.

Delivering volunteer tutor training:

• Support the Training Manager by delivering up to four virtual initial tutor training sessions a week during peak months, presenting Action Tutoring’s established training content.
• Support the Training Manager by contributing updates to tutor training content.
• Create content for tutor CPD materials to support with maths tutoring.

Qualifications criteria: 

• Qualified secondary school teacher of Mathematics
• At least two year’s teaching experience in English state schools with an understanding of the barriers facing disadvantaged pupils 
• Right to Work

About the Role

• The London Hotel is a bespoke and time limited housing project, with 16 en-suite rooms, delivered by Westminster City Council and The Connection at St Martins. The accommodation is run from a hotel in Paddington, that has a staff office and a key work room.
• The aim of the service is to deliver a wrap-around support offer to entrenched rough sleepers, with multiple unmet needs, and who would otherwise struggle to access accommodation. The expectation put on those moving into the service is that they will be given a period of time to stabilise with health and wellbeing input and will then work towards a longer-term accommodation offer with us.
• The service provides food daily, as well as toiletries and offers other areas of support (aside from health and accommodation move on) around financial inclusion, substance dependency, obtaining ID and navigating criminal justice involvement.
• In this role, you will provide direct support to the residents of the hotel generally, as well as holding a small case load of residents who you will keywork.
• You will work closely with external partners to develop support networks around the residents and will make referrals into the relevant services. Alongside this you might need to accompany people off-site to appointments and coordinate the network around them to meet their needs. You will also need to facilitate external partners accessing the site, so they can provide support to residents.  
• Your focus when working with people will be to support them to develop a move on plan, so they can move from the hotel, into longer term accommodation. This is alongside the day to day running of the service as well as facilitating the maintenance of a trauma informed environment and dynamically responding to people’s needs.
• This is a fixed term role until 31st March 2026

About the role

This is a pivotal role within individual giving. Helping to plan and develop fundraising strategy and budget management, as well as being responsible for delivering campaigns of significant scale and generating income both now and for the future.

About the role:

We’re on the lookout for a new Director of Policy and Public Affairs, to protect and advance equality and human rights in the UK, by increasing our policy impact and working collaboratively to harness the power of our network.

The Director of Policy and Public Affairs will play an important role in protecting and advancing equality and human rights in the UK. This role will focus on growing our policy and public affairs capacity so that we can achieve the goals set out in Together for Social Justice, our 10-year strategy. 

You’ll develop and deliver high-impact policy influencing strategies on our three big issues of law, climate and investment. This will mean working on vital public policy issues such as embedding equality and human rights in the government’s mission-driven approach, ensuring a strong legal framework of rights protections, improving public awareness of the value of human rights, and creating a work programme to ensure that people’s whose rights are most at risk can lead policy development on climate breakdown.

You’ll have a strong track record of creating innovative policy solutions that influence public policy and secure social change; the ability to forge and nurture constructive dialogue and working relationships across the political spectrum and within civil society, and a deep understanding of how to increase racial justice at systemic level. You’ll be confident communicating complex legal and technical issues in an engaging way that brings their practical impacts to life for a wide range of audiences, including the media. You’ll be skilled at bringing people together and working collaboratively.

What you’ll do

Leading our communications team, the Head of Communications is responsible for strategic and tactical communications activity at ShareAction, covering both traditional media and our digital team.

The role is key to ensuring our visibility and thought leadership and promoting our campaigning activity. Today’s news agenda is moving increasingly fast, and this role will be critical to ensuring that we keep on top of developments and the opportunities and risks that these present.

As the Head of Communications, you will lead the team to business partner with all functions of ShareAction, from campaigning on the European banking sector to policy advocacy and our presence at AGMs.

A usual week will see you scanning the landscape, advising on reputation and positioning on emerging issues, as well as overseeing the delivery of tactical media and digital outputs.

As part of this role, you will regularly be engaging with journalists and others in the media landscape using your skills to ensure coverage, enhance our reputation and influence the financial sector and real-world companies. You will help ShareAction work towards our vision by positioning us as a voice of authority and a highly effective campaigning organisation.

What you’ll bring to the team

We want to hear from you if you have experience across media and digital communications and, particularly, in strategic communications. The role is right for someone with skills in narrative building, a keen eye for avoiding jargon and the ability to communicate technical language clearly and succinctly.

We think this role would suit someone who has previous experience in a campaigning communications role and who enjoys telling powerful stories.

While we hope we’ll find someone with the majority of these skills and experience, we’re keen to hear from you even if you don’t have them all. We appreciate lots of skills are transferable, and we welcome opportunities to explore different ways of achieving our goals.

We have a formal hybrid working policy in place, and the communications team meets in the office on at least a weekly basis. As a team that works across the organisation, we acknowledge the value of spending time with colleagues from across the organisation in person. There is, therefore, an expectation that you will be able to attend the office or meetings on a regular basis.

The White Rose Forest (WRF) is the Community Forest for North and West Yorkshire and was voted Community Forest of the Year in 2024, in recognition of our leading role within the England’s Community Forests network. At our heart we are a partnership, working closely with local, regional and national Government, as well as our National Parks, local businesses, landowners and community organisations in Yorkshire to plant trees where they are needed the most. All our projects are designed to benefit nature recovery and our communities.

2025 is an important year for the WRF as we set out our ambitious plans and targets for woodland establishment and management in North and West Yorkshire over the next 25 years and publish our new 5-year Action Plan.  To help us deliver these plans, we are recruiting for a talented Development Manager to join our WRF core team. The White Rose Forest Development Manager is a new role that will be responsible for the development and delivery of a new fundraising function and strategy for the White Rose Forest, with support from the White Rose Forest Programme Director, the wider White Rose Forest team, partners and other stakeholders.

We are looking for a confident and experienced fundraiser who can draw on their previous record of success in a similar role to build relationships with a range of potential funders and secure the best opportunities to grow our non-Government project and unrestricted income. From setting up a charitable function for the White Rose Forest to developing our fundraising strategy, you will have the exciting opportunity to shape this new role. You will also be able to call on the expertise and experience within the Community Forest Trust and our England’s Community Forests network to support your work.

The Development Manager will be employed through the Community Forest Trust on behalf of the White Rose Forest and will work as part of the WRF core team. The post holder will have access to all systems available to the wider team, and training opportunities as required.

The Development Manager, as with all members of the central WRF team, will work from home without an office base. However, there is the requirement to attend monthly meetings in locations spread across North and West Yorkshire and at other times as required by the needs of the organisation. You well therefore require the ability to travel independently to such locations.

About the role:

We are looking for an Independent Domestic Violence Advocate (IDVA). This is a full time role on fixed term contract. Hybrid working would be available for this role. The aim of this role is to support victims of domestic abuse who live in Central Bedfordshire. This role will be part of our other wider specialist services covering Bedfordshire.

As an IDVA you will be:

• Providing a high quality support and advocacy service to victims of domestic abuse.
• Managing a caseload; identifying and assessing risks and needs, providing a tailored crisis intervention service trough individual safety planning, advocacy, emotional and practical support.
• Working with other agencies and advocating on behalf of service users in order to help them access services to keep them safe.
• Working within a multi-agency framework consisting of partners as well as MARAC and other local partnerships to offer a coordinated response to domestic abuse.
• Promoting the service and raise awareness of domestic abuse through the delivery of training
• Supporting the Daily Domestic Abuse meeting in the IFD (Integrated Front Door), which discusses all medium/standard risk referrals that have come in over the previous 24 hours and agrees on the most appropriate source of advice and support for the family.
• Attending the BRiF meetings weekly where community partners bring concerns about family's they are working with including concerns about standard/medium domestic abuse.
• Professional point of contact for the IFD and Adult Safeguarding teams (also based at Priory House).
• Point of contact for any concerns staff have about their own relationships and dynamics of domestic abuse they need support with

You will need:

• Experience of working in support and advocacy with victims of domestic abuse is advantageous
• To be able to prioritise work and deal with competing or conflicting demands/needs and interests and promote organisation interests and values.
• To ideally hold a SafeLives IDVA accreditation, relevant degree, vocational qualification or relevant experience of delivering a service and working with domestic abuse victim's/service users in a statutory, voluntary or community work setting.
