Volunteering is at the heart of the RNLI, and we have over 35,000 volunteers in a variety of roles from operational crew and lifeguards to water safety and fundraising volunteers. This is a great time to enjoy the RNLI People Team as we regionalise the delivery of HR and volunteer service to the 6 RNLI regions.

Home based within the region, with regular travel to the regional office in Poole and other sites across the area, you will report to the Regional People Lead and work closely with the People Advisor. Understanding the opportunities within your region, working with the local leadership team and your peers in the wider People Team you will be responsible for supporting great ‘people’ service and delivery.

This role is home-based and includes extensive travel across the region, often outside of regular business hours. Occasional travel to our Support Centre in Poole is also necessary. You will also be required to support a volunteering helpline service for approximately 2 weeks a year (until 8pm weekdays and 10am – 4pm weekends).

Your Role

We are seeking to recruit a Volunteering Adviser to join our team in the South East area. For us, this reaches from Swanage to Southend -on- Sea also includes London.

As a Volunteering Adviser, you will work closely with a range of stakeholders across the organisation, supporting the development of volunteering across the South East region, and the wider RNLI.

This will include:

• Implementation of initiatives to improve the volunteer experience.
• Developing sustainable opportunities along with taking a proactive approach to how we support and manage volunteers.
• Providing staff and volunteers with expert advice and guidance in all aspects of volunteering including areas such as recruitment, retention, problem solving and recognition.
• Supporting local implementation of the volunteering strategy.
• Assisting with the development of volunteer management toolkits and support managers in the use of these.
• Delivering volunteer management training workshops to diverse groups of volunteer managers both in person and virtually.
• Being an ambassador for volunteering and ensure it is championed at all levels.
• You will also be required to support a volunteering helpline service for approximately 2 weeks a year (until 8pm weekdays and 10am – 4pm weekends).

About You

To be our Volunteering Adviser you will need:

• Extensive volunteer management experience.
• Confidence in delivering face-to-face and virtual workshops.
• The ability to manage a complex workload.
• Experience in handling volunteering problem solving issues is desirable. In this role you will need to be able to work and plan autonomously. You will also need to have a proactive and flexible approach to work along with excellent interpersonal skills.

Black Thrive Global (BTG) evolved from the work of the Black Thrive Lambeth Partnership, which was established in 2016. We exist to address the inequalities that negatively impact the mental health and wellbeing of Black people so that the thriving of Black communities is the norm.

Purpose of the role

As the Executive Assistant to the CEO, you will hold a pivotal position within our team, providing essential support to the CEO. Your primary purpose is to offer high-level strategic assistance, allowing our senior leaders to concentrate fully on steering the organisation towards its mission and vision. As the bridge between leadership and operational aspects, your adaptability, attention to detail, and practical communication skills will ensure the seamless execution of our mission. Your active involvement will be instrumental in the success of Black Thrive as we work diligently to reduce mental health disparities within Black communities and drive lasting change.

Duties and responsibilities

1. Actively support the CEO with day-to-day administrative support including proactive diary management, assembling and preparing papers required by the CEO to attend meetings, prepare reports, or reply to requests for information.

2. Co-ordinate and organise meetings including board of directors' meetings, conferences, both in person and virtually. Prepare meeting agendas, minute taking and maintaining action logs.

3. Actively collaborate with the CEO and senior leadership to create engaging presentations and materials for internal and external meetings, ensuring content is well-structured and visually appealing.

4. Actively organise and maintain critical data, documents, and records, implementing a structured filing system for easy access and retrieval.

5. Researches, prioritises, and follows up on incoming issues and concerns addressed to the CEO including those of a sensitive or confidential nature. Determine appropriate course of action, referral, or response.

6. Works closely and effectively with the CEO to keep him/her well informed of upcoming commitments and responsibilities, following up appropriately. Acts as a "barometer," having a sense for the issues taking place in the environment and keeping the CEO updated.

7. Actively coordinate tasks and monitor progress for critical projects and initiatives, ensuring effective communication among team members and stakeholders.

8. Engage actively with key stakeholders, including partners, donors, and community members, to foster positive relationships and facilitate communication.

9. Support the CEO with preparation of a monthly CEO’s message and contributions to newsletters.

10. Liaise with Comms team to ensure and maintain a level of social media presence.

11. Actively participate in budget tracking, financial report preparation, and documentation for grant applications to support the Finance Officer.

12. Actively develop and maintain systems to streamline operational processes while ensuring compliance with organisational policies and procedures.

We are looking for a Recovery Support Worker to join our passionate, and dedicated team in Hounslow. In this role you will support some of the most vulnerable individuals in the borough, helping them identify their individual strengths and aspirations.

The Hounslow LIFE service is a large multi-site service with a large team of colleagues with specialisms in Homelessness, Substance Use and Mental Health to provide a recovery based approach to 86 clients across our different sites.  

In the role of Recovery Support Worker, you will: 

• Work with clients on their road to recovery, aiding clients to gain the necessary skills to move on from our services and into suitable accommodation.  

• Provide support to maintain independence in the community, build their skills for employment, manage their health needs, and look towards a brighter future.  

• Oversee housing management responsibilities to ensure we deliver safe, high-quality services. 

In this role you will work on a weekly shift rota including early and late shifts, weekends and bank holidays. Staff can claim an additional 20% pay premium for hours worked between 8pm and 8am Monday to Friday, and all hours worked on Saturday and Sunday.

Our aim is to support people who have recently been sleeping rough, or who may be experiencing long term homelessness and work with them to develop the skills, networks and confidence to live independently in the community.

In this role you will jointly manage the safe day to day running of the project with other members of the team and provide basic support and advice to clients. You will be the first point of contact at Reception for clients and visitors and have the opportunity to maintain a welcoming and supportive environment within the project. You will coordinate Health and Safety checks and administrative duties while working alongside the team to provide a person centred support to residents and clients.

About you

This role is ideal for people looking to develop a career in the sector; a number of current Managers started their career as Duty Workers. In addition you will have:

• Some experience of dealing directly with the public and/or clients or customers in a busy service environment and good communication skills.
• Personal experience of homelessness and/or an understanding of and empathy with the issues faced by homeless or vulnerably housed people.
• A genuine interest in helping vulnerable people to make positive changes in their life, and the willingness to develop these valuable skills.

We are looking for an ambitious Legacy and In Memory Lead to join Scope’s Public Fundraising team. 

Permanent, 35 hours a week

Location: Here East Press Centre, 14 East Bay Lane, London, E15 2GW with working from home.

The role 

You will:

• Lead on the planning of our Legacy and In Memory strategy to build and retain our database of loyal supporters
• Ensure excellent stewardship, driven by audience insight and an effective proposition is at the heart of the programme.
• Deliver impactful campaigns across a variety of channels, including Scope’s annual Legacy Awareness Month and identify opportunities to attract new pledgers.

About you

We’re looking for someone who is a strong leader and who plays an active and strategic role in the public fundraising leadership team and wider income generation planning activities.

You will:

• Have excellent sector knowledge of legacy and in memory giving that align to charitable goals and represent the brand.
• Thrive on developing relationships with internal teams, supporters and external agencies with excellent interpersonal skills when speaking to members of the public and colleagues about Gifts in Wills.
• Have end to end experience planning and delivering legacy and in memory activities that deliver against budgeted key performance indicators and have a strong working knowledge of fundraising compliance.
• Have a proven track record of successfully planning and delivering legacy and in memory giving programmes.
• Love talking to our amazing supporters about Scope’s work and have an excellent eye for stellar legacy and in memory giver stewardship.
• Understand the importance of an engaging case for support that motivates and encourages supporters to leave a gift in their will or in memory of a loved one and know how to embed a culture of legacy giving.

Your new company

You will be working for a large faith-based organisation based in Central London. Although it is a religious charity, individuals from all backgrounds and faiths are welcome.This is a permanent position that is Hybrid with 2/3 days in the office per week. Working hours are flexible and core hours are between 10-4.

Your new role

• Support the Payroll Manager in providing an accurate and timely payroll service.
• Input data into the Payroll Systems to ensure that details of staff, ministers and pensioners, including tax codes, entitlements, NI and other deductions are correctly set up.
• Calculate final payments as notified by HR and send P45s by the contractual pay date following the employee's last day of service.
• Ensure all statutory and voluntary reductions are made correctly.
• Prepare and post payroll summaries to the nominal ledger and reconcile control accounts.
• Update and submit RTI submissions to HMRC and upload tax code changes, ensuring all data is correct.
• Produce monthly debit statements, deal with staff queries and provide payroll information to HR, HMRC and other government departments.
• Prepare bank reconciliations for all bank and deposit accounts.
• Carry ou the annual payroll year-end routine, ensuring that the records reconcile with net pay, PAYE and other departments on annual returns.
  
  What you'll need to succeed
  
  
• CIPD qualified or equivalent / Qualified by experience.
• English and Maths GCSEs at grade 5 or above (or equivalent qualifications).
• Processing payroll: starters, leavers, changes, sick pay, maternity, deductions, shared parental leave, auto enrolment.
• Great communication (both written and verbally) with different stakeholders.
• Ability to effectively deal with processes for starters, leavers, pensions auto enrolment and payroll year-end reconciliations.
• Good understanding of the principles of accounting, including double entry bookkeeping.
• Strong understanding of tax, NI and pensions administration.
• Familiar with using IRIS Cascade HR, Star, PSE (Northgate).
• Highly numerate, with good attention to detail.
