This role will work with people experiencing homelessness to share their stories, ensuring their voices are front and centre in our communications.

Contract: Four-month fixed term contract - ideal start date Friday 30 September 2024

Location: London office based with working from home in line with Crisis’ hybrid working. This role will require occasional evening, public holiday, and weekend work, particularly over the Christmas period. This is likely to include 26-27-28-29 December. Time off in lieu will be given in accordance with Crisis TOIL policy.

About the role

As Christmas Stories Officer, you will work closely with Crisis at Christmas guests and Crisis members with lived experience of homelessness to share their stories.

As part of the Stories team, you will visit Crisis at Christmas services and build relationships with guests, provide them with the information they need to make an informed decision about sharing their stories and support them through the process. You will work with them to create packages of creative story content that may include photos, video, or written content.  

You will support the Stories team in Christmas planning and delivering the storytelling during Crisis at Christmas. You will lead on editing, reviewing, and signing off content with Christmas guests in a safe and ethical way.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will be a creative storyteller who is able to collaborate and build relationships with a wide variety of people.

You’ll be a great writer and editor who loves to tell interesting stories. You may have experience interviewing people, and you’ll enjoy building relationships and rapport with others. You may have experience in photography too.

You will be passionate about supporting people to get their voice heard, and about ending homelessness. Your knowledge of safeguarding and GDPR and your attention to detail will ensure processes are followed to share stories safely and ethically.

You’ll be able to manage your work independently and work as part of a team, and you might have some project management experience.  

You may have experience in, journalism, stories roles, PR and media, marketing, campaigning, oral history, co-production, photography, videography, content production.

Parkinson’s UK works with health and social care professionals to transform Parkinson’s services across the UK.

We do this through the Parkinson’s Excellence Network (PEN), a network of around 6,000 health and care professionals with a shared vision: to build an expert Parkinson’s workforce and improve health and care services for people with Parkinson’s.

We bring together and support health and care professionals to share best practice, network and collaborate, share resources and education, and drive improvements to services for people with Parkinson’s and their loved ones.

Since its establishment in 2015, the Excellence Network has provided networking and collaboration opportunities for professionals across the different regions of the UK. In England, the Excellence Network is moving to a new regional model aligned to the 7 NHS England regions. The regional model in the devolved nations will remain the same: 3 regions in Scotland, 2 in Wales and 1 in Northern Ireland.

To help us deliver this new regional model, we are looking for a healthcare professional to take on the role of Regional Clinical Lead on a consultancy basis.

What will be expected of you in this role

You’ll:

• Be expected to co-opt a multidisciplinary leadership team to support you in your role. This team should reflect the multi-professional composition of regional services, as well as the geography and should include at least one person with Parkinson's.

• Attend the annual in-person PEN National and Regional Clinical Leads meeting.
• Support the PEN national calendar of events through attendance or promotion. This includes Excellence Hub meetings and other activities centred around our national priorities.
• Work closely with the PEN National Clinical Leadership Team (CLT) to discuss and review national and regional priorities. Attend a virtual meeting with CLT 2 times per year.

• Be a UK-based clinical healthcare professional, working in Parkinson’s or with extensive interest and expertise in the condition, with exceptional interpersonal and influencing skills. Healthcare professionals living with Parkinson’s are also encouraged to apply.
• Have a good understanding of the landscape of health and social care delivery, education and workforce development to support the strategic aims and objectives of Parkinson’s UK.

What you can expect from Parkinson’s UK

You’ll:

• Be formally welcomed and introduced to the Excellence Network and your role as a regional clinical lead.
• Be provided with an introduction pack, which outlines all the activities of the PEN at a national, regional and local level, so that you can gain an understanding of where your role fits in.
• Meet regularly with the Professional Engagement team to discuss and plan activity in your region, working to a co-developed engagement plan for your PEN region. We will be flexible, taking into account your individual needs.
• Meet with the Professional Engagement Lead or Associate Director of Policy & Health Strategy after 6 months in the role for a review meeting and then annually thereafter (or more frequently if required).
• Be provided with a set of resources and information to support you in your role eg. a ready made presentation on the PEN, data from the services within your patch, including relevant data from the UK Parkinson’s Audit.
• Be invited to an annual event for the National and Regional Clinical Leads, to provide updates, training and opportunities for discussion.

• Time commitment will be 0.5 days per week (1 programmed activity) to be worked flexibly across the month.
• Monthly rate will be based on skills and experience.
• Term of consultancy services will be set tenure of 3 years from date of appointment, with an option to extend once for a further 3 years.

Here at The Queen’s Reading Room we are seeking a talented and experienced Operations Director to report directly to our CEO. As Operations Director, you will have strategic oversight of The Queen’s Reading Room’s core operations, act as the charity’s second-in-command and lead our team to be efficient, productive, and effective. The ideal candidate has proven experience of managing a team in a finance, events, operations or development role, and is comfortable in translating strategy into actionable strength for our charity’s growth.

Responsibilities:

• Analyse internal operations and identify growth opportunities for the charity, such as partnerships and venues for events

• Oversee financial planning and evaluations, including budgeting and leading the charity’s annual accounts and audit for the Charity Commission 

• Oversee daily operations of the charity, including Finance, Fundraising, Marketing and Content Production, leading our team to encourage maximum performance

• Helping our Events strategy to strong profitability 

• Keeping an eye on all governance issues, such as policies to implement and update

• Preparing board reports 

• Assist the CEO in fundraising ventures and manage relationships with donors

These cover the central duties of the role, but as we’re a small team the person in this role can also expect to work across many aspects of the charity, including: the creative vision for the charity; helping to design and manage events; helping to devise and manage neuroscience research projects; helping to devise and manage our grassroots strategy to increase the number of people reading in the UK and internationally; helping to devise the creation around national reading campaigns and helping to devise strategy around our content across our social media, website and podcast. 

The goal of the Operations Director position is to secure the functionality of the charity, to drive extensive and long-lasting growth, and to manage our small, dedicated team in their operations. The person joining now will have a direct influence on the long-term direction and legacy of the charity and it’s key that they find that prospect exciting and energising.

Examinations Coordinator (Clinical)

As Examinations Coordinator (Clinical) you will support the Overseas Examinations Manager by coordinating the operational delivery of all aspects of MRCPCH clinical examination activity, engaging clinicians to deliver examinations to the required standard, on schedule and to budget.

This is a crucial role within the Clinical Assessments Team as you will undertake routine forward planning to work with the Overseas Examination Manager to support hosts for exams and related exam preparation whilst also supporting the recruitment, training and performance review of MRCPCH examiners.

With line management responsibility for two administrators, you will provide input into monitoring and evaluating each clinical exam delivered, to ensure standards are maintained and candidate and examiner feedback is captured, whilst identifying and reporting on key concerns for future improvement, development and delivery.

In addition, you will provide committee administration support, including developing schedules for committees, ensuring they adhere to RCPCH Governance arrangements.

Educated to A-level standard or with relevant experience in a similar role, you will have outstanding communication skills and be adept at managing stakeholder relationships.

With an awareness of the principles of effective project management, risk mitigation, risk management and governance, you will be able to find pragmatic solutions, seek improvements and adapt to changing situations.

You will also have the ability to act to minimise errors and inaccuracies, whilst maintaining high standards of accuracy and correctness in dealing with information and data.

Your excellent report writing skills will enable you to present information in a fluent and persuasive manner to people at a range of levels.

A good knowledge of topics relating to assessments and exams along with previous experience in exams and/or assessments would be desirable.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a community manager who has a passion for building, growing and nurturing our new intervention communities and supporting engagement and collaboration on related intervention fora (such as Circle Intervention spaces, the Fellowship Mentor platform and RSA Spark learning platform)

This role is based from RSA House in London for at least three days per week, with hybrid flexibility for the remaining days.

About You

What we look for in a successful Community Manager (Interventions) candidate:

• Strong working knowledge of online community platforms and best practices.
• Must have minimum of four years of experience of organising and coaching volunteers to deliver community projects with clear scopes, planning and delivery.
• Robust experience of moderating online communities from flagging responses, investigating, responding and closing out cases, including dealing with sensitive and challenging online conversations.
• The drive to uphold commitments to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

St Joseph’s Hospice in East London is one of the largest hospices in the UK. We provide compassionate, specialist palliative care to people in the diverse community of East London who are living with a life-limiting illness. We treat each person as unique, encouraging and enabling them to reach their full potential until the end of life.

Working with the Public Fundraising Manager, you will deliver a strategy to deliver income, providing excellent stewardship to legacy enquirers, pledgers and in-memory givers. You will build relationships with local solicitors and funeral directors, alongside many other stakeholders to manage legacy and in-memory events and campaigns.

A strong communicator and planner, you will be able to build strong relationships and be comfortable speaking to bereaved families with compassion and kindness.

This role is for 35.5 hours per week (part-time considered).

We're looking for a Content Designer to research, structure and write user-centred content for Tearfund's channels (website, email, advertising, social media and print). Collaborating with Marketing, UX Design, Graphic Design, Video and Social Media you will identify and meet audience needs whilst raising income and engagement to support Tearfund's work around the world. You'll be familiar with using evidence and data to write and optimise content, as well as running workshops to map user journeys and review content as part of the content production process.

Our successful candidate will have:

• Clear understanding of content design best practice
• Experience using data and insights to create user-centred content and user journey maps
• Proven track record of high quality copywriting and/or significant editorial experience
• Confidence running workshops and championing content design best practice
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills

Laurence’s Larder is a small, dynamic and beloved local charity that feeds over 300 people a week.  Working with a vibrant team of over 60 volunteers Laurence’s Larder provides a weekly food parcel service, two-course sit down meal, clothes bank, art café and access to support and advice services.

Laurence’s Larder is non-referral and open to all, we bring people together, alleviating both social isolation and food poverty, while utilising surplus food.  We are also endeavouring to help address some of the underlying needs that contribute to food poverty, and continue to add more support services to our offerings.

Our warm welcome and non-judgmental approach means that we can help our guests to begin to meet their daily needs with not only dignity but practical help.

We are looking for an individual who shares these values for the role of Part-Time Operations Manager; to oversee the day-to-day running of our services, leading and supporting the volunteers to do this, ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety standards, support the Project Director to achieve agreed outcomes and goals.

If you are someone who loves being part of a team, is interested in food and sustainability, then this is the role for you. This is not a 9-to-5 desk job, this is a role for someone who enjoys being active, thinking on their feet and getting “stuck in”.

Our ideal candidate would have experience working with a team, but also self-motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision.  Strong organisational and planning skills, as well as good people management and interpersonal skills are essential.  Understanding or experience of the voluntary sector would be helpful, as would customer service experience.
