The position:

The Humane League UK is looking for a Digital Marketing Coordinator to drive impactful change for animal welfare through strategic digital marketing efforts.

This role focuses on managing our digital marketing efforts to grow and engage our supporter base. Primary Responsibilities:

Hours:
This is a part time position of 22.5 hours per week (0.6 FTE), worked between Monday and Friday over a minimum of three days, with the working pattern to be agreed.

From 1st July 2024 we are piloting a four day working week across the whole of the UK organisation. This pilot is planned to run for 12 months, at which point a decision will be made by our Board of Trustees as to whether this will become permanent. Success of the trial relies on the organisation being able to achieve the same or improved level of impact in four working days as five, with staff experiencing either the same or improved levels of wellbeing.

During the four-day week pilot, this position will remain at 22.5 hours per week, worked between Monday and Thursday over a minimum of three days, with the working pattern to be agreed. With the organisation's full-time hours changed to 30 from 37.5 during the four-day week pilot, this role will be 0.75 FTE during the trial, with the salary increased accordingly to £26,903.

This will constitute a temporary change to the successful candidate's contractual terms. If a return to a five-day week is decided, the FTE and salary will revert to 0.6 and the equivalent pro rata amount of £21,523. In the event that THL UK considers before the end of the trial period that the trial is having an adverse operational impact, we reserve the right to bring the trial to end on one month’s notice.

The Global Legal Action Network (GLAN) works with affected communities to pursue innovative legal actions across borders to challenge states and other powerful actors involved in human rights violations and systemic injustice. As GLAN’s Philanthropy Manager, you will support the launch of our new three year fundraising strategy.  The Philanthropy Manager role is crucial in leveraging the momentum gained from our existing fundraising successes. This role will focus on attracting new major donors, including high net worth individuals, trusts, foundations, and exploring corporate funding opportunities. The introduction of a dedicated Philanthropy Manager will allow us to: 

• Expand our Donor Base: Establish relationships with high net worth individuals, an area that holds significant potential but is currently underdeveloped at GLAN. 

• Increase Fundraising Capacity: Strengthen our ability to secure large-scale donations and grants, ensuring the sustainability and growth of our programs. 

• Achieve Strategic Goals: Meet the ambitious income targets outlined in our new fundraising strategy, supporting the expansion of our impactful legal initiatives. 

Responsibilities 

Income generation 

• Philanthropic Giving Programme Strategy Development: Create and implement strategies to secure new major gifts from high-net-worth individuals, Trusts & Foundations, and corporations.

• Relationship Management: Build and nurture strong, long-term relationships with major donors, ensuring a robust pipeline of high-value prospects. 

• Fundraising: Secure significant donations (5 and 6 figure gifts) from individuals and organisations. 

• Event Coordination: Plan and execute donor cultivation events, meetings, and site visits to engage major donors and showcase the impact of their support. 

• Budget Management: Oversee major donor income and expenditure budgets, ensuring targets are met. 

Collaboration 

• Work closely with senior leadership, trustees, and other stakeholders to align fundraising efforts with organisational goals. 

• Work closely with GLAN lawyers and communications team to enable the use of impactful case updates in your stewardship of donors.

• Support legal and finance teams to ensure project activities and expenditure is in line with grant contracts. 

Other 

• Reporting: Utilise fundraising software and database systems to track donor interactions, manage donor relationships, and generate reports on fundraising progress.

Who is The Charlie Waller Trust?
The Charlie Waller Trust was created by the Waller family in 1997 in response to the loss of their son and brother Charlie who died by suicide. We have since become one of the UK’s most respected mental health charities for children and young people. Our overarching mission is to educate those with responsibility for children and young people - parents and carers, teachers, college and university staff, and employers - about children and young people’s mental health and wellbeing.

The Youth Ambassador Role: We are seeking UK-based Youth Ambassadors (16-25 year olds) to join our Youth Involvement Team. We wish to appoint people that can bring diverse experiences in education, work or community in order to help create and shape the work that we do. The Youth Ambassadors role is about prioritising youth representation, identity and community across our charitable activity and beyond. The Charlie Waller Team will provide appropriate training, guidance, and ongoing support to those selected.

What will the role involve? 

• Working remotely for up to 2 days (14 hours) a month.
• Attending a Charlie Waller Team day in person in March 2025, in London. Travel expenses will be covered.
• Attending up to six online group meetings with other youth ambassadors and the youth involvement team.
• Preparing for all meetings by reading any specified materials and conducting any preparatory activities. 
• Making advisory recommendations regarding the Charlie Waller Trust’s existing projects and programmes in schools, universities, colleges and the workplace. 
• Opportunities to be involved in our podcast series, our equity, diversity and inclusion and sustainability working groups, fundraising events and co-delivery of training.
• Co-producing new and reviewing current training materials, resources, and communications.
• Opportunities to public speak at CWT meetings and events, as well as at events and conferences with external partners.
• Attending training sessions around topics ranging from public speaking to mental health research.
• Opportunities to attend mental health conferences on behalf of CWT.
• Opportunities to work with partnership organisations such as The Charlie Waller Institute or the Children and Young Peoples Mental Health Coalition.
• There will be other potential opportunities to co-produce and contribute to other CWT projects and activities, for example as a filmmaker/ researcher/ event organiser/ fundraiser etc.
• There will also be opportunities to bring ideas of your own to the Youth Involvement Team.

How much time am I expected to commit?
We expect those joining the Youth Ambassador group to join on a freelance basis for one year from February 2025 to January 2026. 
Hours are subject to change each month but on average we would plan for you to work for CWT for up to 14 hours (2 days) per month. The majority of the working hours offered can be arranged as flexibly as possible around your other commitments

Will I be paid?Ambassadors will be remunerated for their time at a delivery and desk rate of £15 per hour for work both online and in person. 

Desk work includes training preparation, resource coproduction or review, attending meetings and involvement in focus groups. Delivery work includes training delivery, public speaking at an event about the work of the Trust or hosting or being interviewed on the ambassador podcast. 

Any expenses incurred in the role will be covered in line with the Charlie Waller Trust’s expenses policy (public transport or mileage at 45p mile). Payment will be made via bank transfer following the completion of an invoice or hours claim form. • 5+ years experience working within supply chain and logistics
• Extensive leadership experience in a senior logistics role

• Strong understanding of budgeting, financial planning and cost optimisation
• Familiarity with relevant laws, including health and safety, environmental and transport regulations
• Multi-site transport management experience
• Proven ability to track and achieve performance metrics such as delivery times, costs and customer satisfaction
