The Baobab Centre is a non-residential therapeutic community that supports young asylum seekers and refugees who have experienced human rights abuses and have sought asylum in the UK as unaccompanied minors. Our two focus areas are rehabilitation and justice.

The role of the Baobab Casework Advocate is to provide care and support for our community of unaccompanied asylum seeking and refugee children and young people. An ‘advocate’ is someone who supports another to express their views and wishes, to stand up for their rights, to enable one to make choices and access opportunities, while understanding the individual’s vulnerability and need.  As Casework Advocate you will work within our multidisciplinary team to provide the intensive support required, identify indicators of risk and safeguard young people from significant harm.

Mental Health

As Casework Advocate you will understand the impact of specific human rights abuses on the development of children and young people in exile and their individual experiences of loss, trauma and grief on their mental health and well-being.  All the young people Baobab supports suffer significant mental health and developmental difficulties and many function in an unstable and more immature way than their chronological age. Due to their experiences, it takes time to gain trust from the young people in our community.

Baobab’s Model

It is our experience that it takes a significant amount of time to understand Baobab’s model of working, which aims for rehabilitation and justice through attending to both the internal and external world of each young person (see more detail in accompanying ‘Baobab Model’ document). It is critical that as a Casework Advocate you strive to have an insight to the experiences of both the internal and external factors impacting on the lives of unaccompanied young people attending our centre. It is also critical you understand the the ways in which UK society and policy impacts on young asylum seekers (including invisibility, marginalisation, discrimination and the fact of waiting in uncertainty for a long time)

Multi-disciplinary Working A key aspect of the role is communicating with members of the team at Baobab and building relationships with other workers in the networks around each young person including social workers, teachers, foster carers, lawyers, clinicians in hospitals and community settings. Baobab aims to be a reflective, thinking organisation and we place a high value on shared thinking time, sharing responsibilities and working together with others who have a key role in relation to each young person both within and outside of Baobab.

Accessing rights and entitlements

The Casework Advocate supports community members to better understand the context in which they are living and how to access appropriate care, rights and entitlements. This involves working closely with each young person’s Key Work Clinician, and together strengthening relationships with external networks and developing holistic support plans to meet identified needs. As a Casework Advocate you must be prepared to challenge certain decisions and practices by external agencies where required for the welfare of the young person. The role involves supporting young people to initiate legal challenges when necessary and advocating on young person’s behalf where they are unable to.

Working towards independence

A key component of the role is to empower individuals to communicate their views, needs and experiences and participate in decision making processes. You will encourage young people to develop their level of knowledge and skills to enable their independence and progression towards their aspirations. Many of the young people Baobab supports find the task of taking responsibility for their own lives and making choices hugely challenging.

The Head of Urban Transformation role leads campaigns delivery and development work across Possible’s ‘getting around’ strategic focus area, continuing our groundbreaking work on campaigning for traffic reduction and sustainable transport across the UK. 

This currently includes delivery of the multi-year Get Shady project - swapping cars for trees on London’s hottest streets - and oversight of further work across urban greening, parklets and sustainable urban transport. In the future, this could include other campaigns.

With the support of the co-directors, you will be managing an annual Get Shady budget of hundreds of thousands of pounds, and a team of at least two staff members, alongside key relationships with our partners. You’ll be tasked with overall delivery and impact of Get Shady, supporting other work in your function via line management and project sponsorship, and leading fundraising against existing and new work in line with organisational strategy. You’ll work collaboratively with the communications team to spread effective campaign messages far and wide, and leverage the greatest impact possible in our target communities and beyond. Working within strategy and project plans that have been collaboratively developed, you’ll be free to put forward your own ideas for campaign activities, particularly in response to changing events. You’ll also be expected to act as the main spokesperson for your function, speaking at, for example, local or sector events, and to the media. 

You’ll also work closely with the rest of Possible’s senior management team to cultivate and maintain a positive and supportive working culture amongst the whole workforce as well as within your own team.

Alongside, where time allows, you’ll be supported to develop further campaign and project ideas within the ‘getting around’ focus area. Where additional funding does become available you may be required to take on additional line management and project oversight responsibilities.

About the role:

The Digital Communications Manager is a crucial role in the Brand and Marketing Team engaging a wide range of audiences in our mission to make transport accessible for disabled people.

You will be responsible for developing plans to grow and improve our digital channels and digital marketing approach, as well as getting stuck in with content development and the day-to-day running of our website and social media channels. You will manage and be supported by a small team including a Brand and Marketing Executive, Case Study Executive and agency/freelance support as needed.

As part of a Brand and Marketing team, you will also lend your expertise to shared projects, from brand to events to accessibility.

What you will be doing:

• Manage a small digital and content team and be the overall digital communications expert for the Communications team.
• Lead on the development and delivery of our Digital Roadmap, planning projects and improvements that help us to attract and engage our audiences. Project manage the delivery involving team members, freelancers and the wider organisation as needed.
• Lead on the development of our website with support from the Brand and Marketing Executive. Manage our relationship with our digital development agency and collaborate with colleagues to identify activities that require development work.
• Work with Communications Team members to promote our portfolio of research, innovation and grant-making, developing digital communications plans and creating content.
• Lead on the day-to-day running of our social media channels with support from the Brand and Marketing Executive.
• Line-manage the Case Study Executive, who is responsible for creating and commissioning case study content from written stories to photography and video. Support them in developing and adhering to policies and processes and in finding ways to improve our case study work.

We’re looking for a Data Officer to join our growing Young Sounds team. You will fulfil an important cross-organisational role, working closely with the team to collate and analyse the data collected through all our programmes.

About Young Sounds UK

Young Sounds exists because musical talent is everywhere but opportunity isn’t: family finances and other obstacles too often get in the way. We’re here to change this in two key ways:

• We support young musicians from low-income families with funding and other help;

• We support music education through training, advocacy and research.

We became an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation in April 2023 and also joined an expanded cohort of National Youth Music Organisations (NYMOs). We currently support around 900 individual young people across the UK every year and demand for our support is increasing. It’s an exciting time to join a pioneering organisation at the forefront of British music education.

The role

The Data Officer will fulfil an important cross-organisational role, working closely with the team to collate and analyse the data collected through all our programmes. Young Sounds is a reflective organisation. We’ve always invested time and effort in seeking out, understanding and demonstrating the difference our programmes are making. We believe in learning from experience. This is what we mean by evaluation.

Since 2023 we have committed to evaluating all three of our main programmes, each of which tackles a key barrier to young people’s musical progression. Each quarter we review our progress against both our Arts Council England Activity Plan (where measures of success are agreed annually) and the actions we’ve set for each year against each of Arts Council England’s four Investment Principles. We believe that data plays an integral part in telling the story of our work, and we regularly draw upon the information collated through evaluation to update our wider funding base (e.g. Trusts and Foundations) on the work we are doing. The Data Officer will work with the External Evaluator to enable us to report effectively and accurately on our progress to all our funders.

Reporting to the Finance and Operations Director you will also work closely with the External Evaluator, Development Manager, Finance Officer, and other members of the wider Young Sounds team.

Tender is an arts charity working with children and young people to prevent domestic abuse and sexual violence through creative projects. Our programmes are safe, enjoyable, age-appropriate spaces where young people can engage with sensitive topics and “rehearse” for real-life scenarios. Participants are encouraged to be both consumers and producers of learning through script-work, role-play and creative media such as films and art. Throughout, we enable young people to explore their choices, rights and expectations in relationships and to recognise the early warning signs of abuse. 

We have grown rapidly in recent years, and now have an exciting and varied programme of work which is funded from a wide range of sources. We have long-standing, high-value relationships with organisations such as the Mayor’s Office, Esmée Fairbairn and Clifford Chance, and continue to grow our income from a range of supporters from trusts, foundations, corporates, individuals and community fundraisers.

We now have a need for an Officer to work closely with the Development Director and CEO in developing our corporate income stream, managing the accounts of existing corporate partners and generating income through securing new corporate partnerships. These partnerships will generate both donations and earned income, with corporate partners contracting Tender to deliver workplace training. You will also work closely with our Corporate Advisory Board, which includes a diverse, ambitious group of professionals who are supporting us to maximise our corporate income stream. You will lead the statutory accounts preparation, year-end audits and month-end close. JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Fundraising and Partnerships Manager

Job Purpose: To develop fundraising proposals and raise funds from trusts and foundations. To raise funds for Action Village India through our trading activities and events.

Reports to: Executive Director

Salary: £30,000 pro rata

Hours:21 hours per week (equivalent to 3 working days) – ideally including Wednesday and Thursday.

By agreement there is an option to work an additional 11 events days over the full year. This is related to WOMAD and our other events. This is revised annually based on the agreed workplan.

Location:Dalston, London (5 Balls Pond Road, N1 4AX)

Contract: Permanent, pending a successful 6-month probationary period

Annual Leave: 25 days (pro rata)

FUNDRAISING

1.1 Fundraising Management and Donor Liaison:

• In line with Action Village India’s project funding priorities, research and develop fundraising proposals for new and ongoing projects to be submitted to major donors, trusts and foundations as well as other appropriate sources.
• Keep up to date spreadsheets and databases tracking donor deadlines, the status of applications and reporting deadlines.
• Ensure that material from partners for monitoring reports is developed as needed and work to ensure that reports are submitted as required and to agreed deadlines.
• Support the Executive Director with fundraising and reporting to individuals and trusts.

1.2Events

• Plan and manage, in collaboration with the Action Village India team, the events for the year
• Attend Action Village India fundraising events (evenings and weekends as agreed with the team)
• Attend WOMAD festival and support the Action Village India team with the successful running of the Action Village India stall and presence at the festival.

1.3 Individual Giving

• Planning and delivering our regular appeals and engagement communications.
• Develop new ways to engage our supporters’ base and grow income from Individual Giving products.
• Build engaging journeys to retain existing supporters and develop more supporters.

1.4 Communications and Development Management

• Create communications content that inspires supporter engagement and promotes loyalty.

• To design and produce communication materials – Annual Report and Appeals
• Supply project information to support appeals to individual donors, and at public events including WOMAD; co-organise the exhibition at WOMAD.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

EXPERIENCE

• Ideal minimum of three years proven experience in fundraising from trusts and foundations, events and individual giving.
• Proven experience in writing project proposals and reports for funders.
• Proven success in raising funds from trusts and foundations in the UK, working alone or perhaps as part of a larger fundraising team.
• Experience co-organising events and fundraising activities.

KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS

• Knowledge of Trusts and Foundations and institutional fundraisers particularly in the UK.
• Knowledge of the international solidarity and development landscape and/or familiar with funder processes, databases and requirements.
• Knowledge of Charity Law, Data Protection, Fundraising Code of Practice and other relevant marketing or fundraising standards in the UK.

The Ministry Department aims to serve and renew lay and ordained ministry throughout the Church of England. We do this by providing advice and support to vocational enquirers, ordinands, curates, lay ministers, leaders at every level, dioceses, and theological colleges.

The team works at a national level to provide the stewardship of resources, the development of policy, and the expertise, guidance and leadership needed to sustain the ministry of the Church of England and to ensure its growth and flourishing. We oversee the discernment, formation and deployment of ordained ministers, ensuring the Church is well-equipped to serve God in living out its mission for many generations to come.

We support dioceses to develop proactive plans to grow vocations to ministry, by convening networks of practitioners, sharing good practices, ensuring proper resourcing and providing quality training for diocesan directors of ordinands and advisers.

We support and steer ministry and leadership development for the entire clergy and lay ministries life cycle, including clergy HR and senior leadership development.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Vocation Communications and Marketing Officer role is part of the National Communication Teams which sits with the National Development.

Your major responsibility is to engage, inspire, and influence all sectors of the Church to foster a vocational culture in which all persons, regardless of age or background, are encouraged and assisted in considering the entire variety of ministerial vocations for themselves and others.

You will mainly be responsible for:

1. Developing, delivering and leading a marketing, communications and engagement strategy; this requires the post holder to have excellent communication skills with the ability to engage with all stakeholders at a national, diocesan and local level clearly and concisely
2. You will work with stakeholders and communicate as widely as possible the ministerial needs of the church and a plethora of opportunities to discern, learn, grow and serve.
3. Produce and/or commission excellent written and video content and updates; this includes supporting the preparation and development of online and in-person engagement events.

Join a small commercial team with big ambitions for the public library sector. We are seeking a Commercial Manager to help us realise our plans to secure a menu of commercial contracts that all of our 175+ member library services can choose to benefit from, according to the skills and assets of their service, their focus and strategy and of course the needs of their communities.

Our Commercial Team

Currently we hold a single commercial contract worth around £3m per year delivered through 12 libraries. Our aim is to reach a point where we have a menu of commercial contracts that all of our 175+ member library services can choose to benefit from according to the skills and assets of their service, their focus and strategy and of course the needs of their communities.

In the current funding climate for local authorities and local government services, these contracts are not just about the income and the services they can provide, but about demonstrating nationally the power of the library sector, and how national services can be delivered locally through library services and the communities they serve.

This is a long term aim of ours – we are seeking to build the commercial team with this role and while it is initially a 12 month contract, our hope is that with the role in place we can generate the income to sustain and build on it.

Main purpose of role:

• Support the delivery of commercial projects across the library sector
• Lead the bidding process for new commercial projects
• Manage the mobilisation and setup of contracts and services
• Manage the ongoing delivery of commercial contracts and services including management reporting and contract / service optimisation to increase benefit to the libraries and sector
• Ensure appropriate agreements are in place with our network of library partners to support current and future commercial collaboration
• Ensure we have organisational documentation and accreditation in place to bid for large government contracts

We are seeking a dynamic individual with workforce development experience to lead on our workforce development strategy and associated projects. In this role, you will support our network of public library leaders and contribute to the Futures Hub, a new initiative aimed at generating evidence to help public libraries meet the challenges of the coming decade.

Main Activities:

• To manage the development of a workforce leadership and skills strategy working alongside key partners
• To deliver key aspects of the strategy including apprenticeship network; peer mentorship network; managing our online learning modules and ensuring our equality, diversity and inclusion strategy is integrated throughout the workforce development programme
• This post will also support the Futures Hub-a new programme that will generate evidence and insight that library services can use to meet the challenges of the coming decade

The scope of the role will specifically include:

• Development of  the sector skills strategy in collaboration with key partners

• Management of a peer mentor scheme
