About the Team
Kinship is in the third year of delivering the first national peer support service for kinship carers in England. We have created 145 peer support groups. We have supported and trained kinship carers to create and lead their groups in a way which meets their needs.

With a new contract from the Department for Education, we’re now entering a new phase of our service with a focus on:
 

• creating 90 new sustainable peer support groups in areas of most need over 21 months;
• sustaining and developing the current 145 existing groups; and
• providing support and help to build a sustainable and welcoming community for all peer support groups across England.

This role will mobilise, develop and innovate our existing offer into a new Peer Support Community Hub with the focus on supporting sustainability and building resilience of peer support groups and their leaders. You will support and build our Kinship peer support community.

The role of the Peer Community Innovation Lead is to oversee and take accountability for sustaining kinship peer support groups across England in priority areas as part of a new hub and spoke delivery model.

In this context, your team is the centralised ‘hub’ of the service, delivering an exciting programme of training, speakers, toolkits and resources to help peer support group leaders develop, build and sustain their group well. Your team will build and develop this ‘peer support community hub’. This will include annual in person celebrations.

Your team will make sure groups feel connected and supported, learn from each other and build a powerful and resilient peer community. 

Managing a national team of three, you will develop a strategy and operational plan to build on and mobilise a new peer support community.

The type of person we’re looking for:

You’ll understand the power of relationships and be an excellent communicator. You’ll understand how communities hold their own power and your team will help unlock that. You’ll ensure through the National Peer Support Connector role that peer communities are connected and engaging with the new National Kinship Care Ambassador to share insight and best practice.

About the organisation

2024 marks a hugely important milestone for the Latymer Foundation - its their 400th anniversary!

The Latymer Foundation at Hammersmith was established in 1624 by Edward Latymer, a lawyer and local landowner, with the aim of offering financial support to eight children living in the area, providing them with clothes and giving them an education. An education which would not otherwise have been possible for them to access.

Today, the Foundation runs Latymer Upper and Prep School and one of its main aims is to provide bursaries (financial support for school fees) to as many local children as possible, ensuring that any promising and talented child can access a first-class Latymer education, regardless of their family's financial situation.

As of September 2023, the Foundation is supporting bursaries for 1 in every 5 students at Latymer Upper School, and is aiming to increase this to 1 in 4 students by 2024.

The Role

Reporting to the Director of Development, the Fundraising Manager is a key member of a sector leading development team. Latymer's bursary programme is one of the most successful in any UK independent school. Since 2002, the number of pupils receiving means tested support has grown from just 7 to more than 280 as of September 2023, the majority of whom receive between 75-100% fee remission.

This growth has only been possible thanks to philanthropy through the Latymer community: parents, alumni, Governors, staff, and students.

The Fundraising Manager is at the heart of the community fundraising, focussing on the full cycle of cultivation, solicitation and stewardship

Responsibilities:

* Develop and deliver the strategy and tactics to increase giving and participation in support of our annual bursaries appeals (including Upper School and Prep) using a range of channels and touchpoints (e.g. DM, digital, phone campaign, events, face to face)
* Design the stewardship matrix and tactics to thank our supporters and develop compelling content that surprises and delights our donors, including events and the delivery of our annual campaign impact report, Campaign Review

* Develop case studies to illustrate the impact of donations across communications and devise ways to increase opportunities to see these stories

Our highly committed Regional Casework Coordinators are SSAFA’s front line of support for members of the armed forces community in need. They are the first point of contact for all beneficiaries into the North East England & Yorkshire Regional Office, assessing needs and allocating the case to one of our volunteer caseworkers.

You will sometimes handle complex problems from individuals who may be distressed, identifying the presenting and potential underlying needs to determine the best way to support the beneficiary. You will have ownership of cases from beginning to end, coordinating the casework process in a timely manner and ensure that the beneficiary journey is at the centre of the Service. You will have the opportunity to shape processes and procedures within the office which will lead to improvements in the service offered to clients.

To help you establish yourself in this new post you will receive excellent training and induction to SSAFA.

Whilst the post is homebased, to be eligible for this role you are required to live in the North East England or Yorkshire region, which includes North, South, East and West Yorkshire, Teesside, County Durham, Tyne & Wear and Northumberland. There will be occasional travel around these areas and you may be required to travel at short notice for face to face meetings.

The post is part time, three days per week, working Monday, Tuesday and Wednesdays.

About the team

The team works remotely and prides itself in maintaining a close working bond which ensures the smooth operation of the office. You will work closely with volunteers from the eight SSAFA branches in these regions, supporting them to administer casework for SSAFA beneficiaries. The wider support team includes a Casework Manager and a Regional Operations Manager.

About you

To carry out this role successfully you will have a track record of providing welfare advice in key areas such as, housing benefits, debt, disability, mobility or immigration issues. You will have knowledge of safeguarding and GDPR, along with experience in dealing with sensitive information and people in vulnerable situations. You will be able to provide excellent customer service by telephone, e-mail and face to face. You will have used Microsoft Office 365 to a high standard. It is important that you have experience of planning and managing your own workload, with minimal supervision.

It would be advantageous if you have an understanding of the way of life for today’s Armed Forces, veterans and their families, along with supporting volunteers. An understanding of the voluntary sector and preferably the military charity sector landscape across the North East & Yorkshire would be valuable.

• Preparation of specific components of Training for Ministry Budget
• Payment of Resourcing Ministerial Education (RME) related Funds
• Calculation and payment of tuition fees and maintenance grants for continuing students
• Payment of Ad hoc grants following policy guidelines including Disability, Special Hardship "Train A Priest" Fund

• Analysis of RME block grant utilisation data including Confirmation of Training Forms (COTs)
• Monitor and reporting on the use of MDT restricted funds
• Monitor diocesan expenditure on ordinand maintenance and implement arrangements which share these costs in accordance with relative diocesan wealth (pooling)
• Maintain and interrogate data on attendance at Bishops' Advisory Panels (BAPs)
• Maintain and interrogate data on ordinand training
• Maintain and interrogate data on vocational exploration
• Produce reports and further data analysis as required

• Work with Ministry Development team colleagues to build departmental budgets
• Ensure effective expense payment workflows on SAP
• Liaise with Archbishops' Council Finance Dept on budgetary issues and resolve them
• Monitor progress against budget and forecast outcomes as required
• Administration of the TAP, WCMET and other Hardship Grants

• Familiarity with use of databases and financial systems such as SAP
• High level of computer literacy in particular the creation and formatting of spreadsheets
• Experience of working with grants and finances preferable in a Church or other charitable organisation
• An understanding and empathy with the ethos of the Church of England

• A keen analytical mind with high numeracy skills and attention to detail
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Skills in providing clear and accurate financial information for colleagues and external stakeholders
• Discretion and reliability in observing confidentiality
• Able to travel within England and attend occasional meetings away from London
• An ability to work independently in accordance with policy guidelines

• Confident in Church and theological terms and knowledge of the structures of the Church of England
• Experience of grant funding within a national institution
• A recognised financial qualification or financial training

• A salary of £33,382 per annum plus age-related pension contributions between 8-15% of salary. We will also match any pension contributions you make up to an additional 3% of salary.
