The charity is looking for a Media and Communications Manager (maternity cover) to help its work to stop economic abuse forever.

You would be joining the charity at an exciting time. In this role, you would lead on delivering the charity’s press office function and manage the charity’s annual Economic Abuse Awareness Day campaign.

As part of this role, you will also work closely with survivors to land high-profile media coverage to raise awareness about economic abuse and support our work influencing the new government. As well as line-manage the Communications Officer and oversee their work delivering the charity’s social media communications.

 About the role

• Deliver an efficient and effective press office, swiftly and professionally responding to media inquiries from journalists.
• Manage the planning, delivery, and oversee the team’s execution of major communications campaigns, such as Economic Abuse Awareness Day.
• Lead on creating and delivering media stories to support the charity’s aim to raise awareness of economic abuse and influence policy and legislative change.
• Work closely with the Survivor Engagement Specialist to identify and gather survivors’ stories and support them to safely tell their story in the media.
• Line-manage a Communications Officer and oversee their work delivering our social media communications, ensuring strategic, on brand and responsive to risks and opportunities.
• Deliver media training to charity spokespeople and provide both written and verbal briefings ahead of interviews to ensure message consistency.
• Feedback and sign-off on communication materials developed by others to ensure consistent messaging, in line with the charity’s brand guidelines.
• Protect and maintain the charity’s brand and reputation, identifying risks and working with team members to effectively respond.

At Surviving Economic Abuse, we deal with one of society’s biggest issues. Last year, 5.5 million UK women reported that a current or former partner had controlled their economic resources – money and the things it can buy such as food, clothing, transportation, and housing.

The Migraine Trust is the only UK migraine charity providing information and support, campaigning for awareness and change, and funding and promoting research, and has been leading and bringing the migraine community together since 1965. One in seven people in the UK live with migraine. This complex and debilitating neurological disorder can significantly affect many aspects of life including work, school, personal relationships, and feelings of isolation.

Every year over two million people visit The Migraine Trust website for the most up to date information, and thousands contact the helplines for information and support on all aspects of migraine. The Migraine Trust campaign for increased awareness and understanding of migraine, better access to treatment, and national policy change to improve the lives of people who get it.

The Information Manager will coordinate and develop a range of health information needed by the migraine community and people living with migraine to raise awareness to both members of the public and health care professionals. The role is also responsible for ensuring the information on the website is up to date and coordinating and managing Patient Information Forum renewals.

Key responsibilities

• Produce and maintain quality health information: You will manage and update health information, scope, plan, and create new content in consultation with stakeholders, and identify target groups to produce materials to meet their needs. You will work within the Information and Support team constantly communicating with colleagues working on front line services to ensure the information being produced is in line with service users needs. You will also be responsible for managing the organisations PIF processes and assessments.
• Engage with the migraine community: You will hold focus groups to understand information needs, build strategic partnerships to disseminate information effectively, and support staff learning and knowledge-building about migraine.
• Support communication and dissemination: You will work with the Communications team to create accessible information formats, provide content for videos, blogs, and other communication channels and regularly monitor and report on the impact of information provision.
• Research: You will act as the key point of communication for the research committee, manage administrative duties for research funding applications and grants, and coordinate research meetings and liaise with funded researchers for project updates.
• Represent and support the charity: You will represent The Migraine Trust at external events and build relationships with healthcare professionals and stakeholders.

The Information Manager will have solid experience of communicating complex health information to audiences in written and online formats, as well as proven experience of producing information from the research stage through to writing, external review and liaising with designers. The successful candidate will have the ability to gain an in-depth understanding of medical and health related information, including research and critical analysis skills to develop an evidence base. You will have experience working within a health communication environment, with excellent verbal and written communication skills, and meticulous attention to detail with demonstrable editing and proofreading skills. You will have the ability to liaise with key stakeholders, be a self-starter with an ability to work independently and as part of a team and be able to work to tight deadlines. You will have knowledge and understanding of the benefits of patient engagement to produce health information.

The role is home-based with meetings in London once every 3 months which will include overnight stays and some ad hoc national travel. All travel/overnight expenses are covered. We are seeking a hands-on, seasoned, and globally-minded leader to serve as the foundation’s Director of Operations (DO) as the institution continues to evolve and develop other vehicles fit for its mission and activities.

Role

As Director of Operations, you will be a key member of the foundation’s leadership team jointly responsible for strategic planning and overall management of the institution to ensure organisational health and the fulfilment of the foundation’s mission. You will report to the Executive Director (ED).

Director of Operations Responsibilities

 — The responsibilities of the Director of Operations will include, but are not limited to:

 Finance

• Maintain best practice of internal and external controls and reporting according to accounting, audit and tax standards for international non-profits and foundations including segregation of duties, security and integrity of data and records, and approval protocols.
• Manage cashflow and liquidity requirements in coordination with the family office.
• With the ED, orchestrate an annual organisation-wide planning and budgeting process.

 Legal and Regulatory

• Coordinate with Grants Managers, the family office, and other professionals as appropriate, in regard to compliance, disbursements, and reporting of grants according to the standards of relevant jurisdiction(s).
• Ensure that all organisational policies, procedures and practice are compliant with applicable labour, employment, tax, immigration, and business registration laws and regulations in applicable countries or jurisdictions.
• Maintain and acquire as appropriate registrations, permits, and documentation in countries as required by foundation activities and/or employee or contractor location.
• Oversee all contracts and their compliance with appropriate regulations and laws. 

People and Culture

• Ensure clarity, equity, and harmonisation of policies (HR, travel and expense), compensation and benefits for staff (employees and consultants) across geographies and tax and legal jurisdictions.
• Oversee policy and practice for personnel including recruitments, hires, orientation and on-boarding, terminations, probation, performance evaluations, human relations and conflict management.
• Foster an institutional culture of transparency, accountability, and collaboration while ensuring organisational effectiveness.

Grants Management Oversight

• With the ED and Programme team, oversee the full cycle of grant making including budgeting, projections, programmatic and compliance reviews, payments, grantee reporting and evaluation of outcomes.
• Support Grants Management System (GMS) Systems Administrators as needed, in identifying, prioritizing, and specifying new features and functionality for the GMS system.

 Information Technology

• Strategically manage information systems and IT platforms to support this almost 100% virtual, globally spread out, and highly mobile organisation.
• Ensure core systems are robust, available, and accessible to staff in all locations as appropriate.

Risk Management

• Ensure appropriate and adequate insurance policy acquisition and management needed across the institution and oversee ongoing policy management for adequacy of coverage, renewals, and financial considerations (includes liability, worker’s compensation, travel etc. across geographic areas).
• Oversee health and safety policy and procedures across staff locations and during travel.
• Coordinate business continuity policies and procedures.

Staff Management and Mentorship

• The Director of Operations currently has oversight responsibilities for the following functions:
  • Finance & Operations Manager
  • Grants Manager team
  • GMS System Administrators
  • Human Relations Manager and International Accountant
• Manage relationships with outsourced tax, payroll processing, and legal resources in various jurisdictions.
• Evaluate and evolve staffing structure and skills to support institutional needs and priorities.

Other duties from time to time, as needed.

Subject to prevailing travel regulations and where the final candidate is located, this position may require periodic international travel to the United Kingdom and/or to Hong Kong.

Qualifications

— The successful Director of Operations candidate will likely reflect much of the following profile:

 Essential

• Bachelor’s degree and preferably relevant graduate degree (MBA, MPA or equivalent) or comparable experience.
• At least 10 years senior management experience including international operations and finance responsibilities, with an international grantmaking foundation or non-profit organisation or equivalent. Previous COO, CFO, or equivalent experience desirable.
• International living and/or working experience including in the Global South; familiarity with the complexities of operating remotely and under different jurisdictions.
• Specific experience in leading through growth, infrastructure building, and/or change.

Habitat for Humanity Great Britain (Habitat GB) is part of the international Habitat for Humanity network. We address housing poverty worldwide by partnering with communities and families to help them achieve their dreams of safe, decent housing. 

Purpose of The role

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Community Outreach Coordinator to join our growing, dynamic team. This role will support the development of a community hub attached to our charity retail “ReStore” in Romford—the first of its kind in the UK. Globally, over 1,000 ReStores operate with the mission of upcycling unwanted home materials to support low-income households and promote a circular economy.

Beyond being a retail space, our ReStore aims to become a community hub offering additional targeted activities and services to those most vulnerable to housing insecurity. Our pilot programme will focus on supporting women recovering from domestic abuse or trafficking. These women will access free essential goods from the store, and benefit from workshops and courses such as upholstery, upcycling, art therapy, employability, confidence-building, and practical life skills.

Main Responsibilities 

We are looking for a self-motivated and enthusiastic individual to design and maintain all community outreach activities. The Community Outreach Coordinator will represent Habitat GB, working with the leadership team to develop and implement initiatives that increase the community hub’s visibility and impact.

This position will:

· Relationship Building: Cultivate and maintain relationships with collaborative partners in the housing support sector.

· Budget Preparation: Assist in preparing an annual budget for community outreach activities.

Support the charity on all aspect of volunteering within the Trussell Trust and across the food banks network. This position is accountable to assist with the delivery of the volunteering strategy and promoting excellence in best practice alongside celebrating the impact and contribution of volunteers.  

Role responsibilities 

• Coordinate the implementation of volunteer focused systems across the Network (e.g. Assemble and Peakon), facilitating access for all and providing ongoing support as needed

Kinship is the leading kinship care charity in England and Wales. We offer kinship carers financial, legal, practical and emotional support and understanding from the moment they need it, for as long as they need it. About the Team
Kinship is in the third year of delivering the first national peer support service for kinship carers in England. We have created 145 peer support groups. We have supported and trained kinship carers to create and lead their groups in a way which meets their needs.

With a new contract from the Department for Education, we’re now entering a new phase of our service with a focus on:
 

• creating 90 new sustainable peer support groups in areas of most need over 21 months;
• sustaining and developing the current 145 existing groups; and
• providing support and help to build a sustainable and welcoming community for all peer support groups across England.

This role will mobilise, develop and innovate our existing offer into a new Peer Support Community Hub with the focus on supporting sustainability and building resilience of peer support groups and their leaders. You will support and build our Kinship peer support community.

You’ll work with group leaders to co-create and develop a central hub of accessible and useful resources to help them to sustain their groups, working with colleagues right across Kinship to promote consistent access to services and activities (training, programmes, information, advice and campaigns), building a joined-up user experience. 

You’ll ensure we use data and insight to innovate the Hub and develop a strong thriving community of peer support group leaders.

About the role
The role of the Peer Community Innovation Lead is to oversee and take accountability for sustaining kinship peer support groups across England in priority areas as part of a new hub and spoke delivery model.

In this context, your team is the centralised ‘hub’ of the service, delivering an exciting programme of training, speakers, toolkits and resources to help peer support group leaders develop, build and sustain their group well. Your team will build and develop this ‘peer support community hub’. This will include annual in person celebrations.

Your team will make sure groups feel connected and supported, learn from each other and build a powerful and resilient peer community. 

Managing a national team of three, you will develop a strategy and operational plan to build on and mobilise a new peer support community.

The type of person we’re looking for:
Dynamic and people-centred, this role is about innovating and developing a supportive community of peer support group leaders nationally in person and online. You’ll understand the power of relationships and be an excellent communicator. You’ll understand how communities hold their own power and your team will help unlock that. Innovation is key to the success of the Hub and you’ll ensure you’re using best practice and learning to develop it.

An excellent communicator, you’ll develop external specialist partnerships to support group sustainability. You’ll ensure through the National Peer Support Connector role that peer communities are connected and engaging with the new National Kinship Care Ambassador to share insight and best practice.

You’ll be comfortable with using digital technology and tools to build communities, relationships and develop resources.

Our highly committed Regional Casework Coordinators are SSAFA’s front line of support for members of the armed forces community in need. They are the first point of contact for all beneficiaries into the North East England & Yorkshire Regional Office, assessing needs and allocating the case to one of our volunteer caseworkers.

You will sometimes handle complex problems from individuals who may be distressed, identifying the presenting and potential underlying needs to determine the best way to support the beneficiary. You will have ownership of cases from beginning to end, coordinating the casework process in a timely manner and ensure that the beneficiary journey is at the centre of the Service. You will have the opportunity to shape processes and procedures within the office which will lead to improvements in the service offered to clients.

To help you establish yourself in this new post you will receive excellent training and induction to SSAFA.

Whilst the post is homebased, to be eligible for this role you are required to live in the North East England or Yorkshire region, which includes North, South, East and West Yorkshire, Teesside, County Durham, Tyne & Wear and Northumberland. There will be occasional travel around these areas and you may be required to travel at short notice for face to face meetings.

The post is part time, three days per week, working Monday, Tuesday and Wednesdays.

About the team

The team works remotely and prides itself in maintaining a close working bond which ensures the smooth operation of the office. You will work closely with volunteers from the eight SSAFA branches in these regions, supporting them to administer casework for SSAFA beneficiaries. The wider support team includes a Casework Manager and a Regional Operations Manager.

About you

To carry out this role successfully you will have a track record of providing welfare advice in key areas such as, housing benefits, debt, disability, mobility or immigration issues. You will have knowledge of safeguarding and GDPR, along with experience in dealing with sensitive information and people in vulnerable situations. You will be able to provide excellent customer service by telephone, e-mail and face to face. You will have used Microsoft Office 365 to a high standard. It is important that you have experience of planning and managing your own workload, with minimal supervision.

It would be advantageous if you have an understanding of the way of life for today’s Armed Forces, veterans and their families, along with supporting volunteers. An understanding of the voluntary sector and preferably the military charity sector landscape across the North East & Yorkshire would be valuable.

Funded by London Borough of Waltham Forest, the project seeks to support the most vulnerable families in the borough, working closely in partnership with the Early Help team.

The role will be supporting families, mainly at local Children and Family Centres across the borough, in relation to stabilising their finances which will mainly involve debt and benefit issues and support with financial capability. 

The post holder will support clients to reduce and/or better manage personal debt and maximise benefit entitlement. They will deliver services in a variety of ways including one to one, drop in and by appointment at outreach in Waltham Forest. All channels will be utilised to deliver services and an assessment will be made of the level of support required including providing casework support.

In this role you will provide operational line management and support, to staff who work with and help our members, and all callers, whether self-referred or referred by other charities, or statutory agencies, ensuring that we continue to provide the highest quality of services and facilities at all times.

You will have: 

• Extensive experience of working in a charity / community development and / or social care setting, at Team Leader, or Assistant Manager level;
• Clear understanding and confidence of the role and responsibilities of a service manager, within the sector:
• Similar knowledge and skills in regard to the application of relevant structures, policies, procedures and regulatory standards (such as ‘Safeguarding’, Data Protection’, ‘Charity Commission’ requirements, etc);
• Proven ability to effectively manage, motivate and develop a skilled staff team and our volunteers. And effectively deliver and oversee appraisals and relevant training for staff and volunteers;
• Proven ability to manage and resolve complaints and enquiries, whether from staff, ICS Members, or from the public;
• Your hours will be flexible, with the understanding that you will be required to work occasional ‘unsocial hours’ (evenings / weekends), to provide support to funding and social events;
• We do provide technology and support to allow occasional ‘working from home’.
