Xenia is a grassroots women’s organisation on a mission to create more inclusive, equal and welcoming communities. We deliver weekly workshops in London and Sheffield which support women from all backgrounds, ages, faiths, cultures and immigration statuses to share, connect and learn together. 

Participants are at the heart of the Xenia community. Migrant, refugee, asylum seeking, and British women come together as active equals at our workshops where we use the arts, heritage and power of conversation to connect, learn from each other and take part in local civic life. Together we create a community that supports practising spoken English, reduces social isolation, connects different cultures, and gives underrepresented women access to civic and democratic opportunities. 

As an organisation Xenia is non-hierarchical and participatory, meaning decisions are made collectively and are proactively informed by participant involvement. The organisation is run by an Organising Team, made up of a small number of staff (currently 5) and volunteers and the trustee board. We aim to be true to our values that everyone has something to teach and everyone has something to learn. We do not have managers and instead operate in a flatter structure in which everyone contributes to running the organisation. 

This is where you come in. We are looking for the newest member of Xenia’s staff team to drive our growth forward, with the support of the staff, Organising Team and Trustee Board. This role is right for you if you have a strong desire to work in a non-hierarchical setting, have a good understanding of migrant women’s lives, and an unwavering commitment to equality and inclusion. You will have experience of raising funds from varied sources, with excellent communication skills that are adaptable to different people and situations. Job Description for Fundraising and Development Organiser:

Key responsibilities

• Fundraising

  • Securing circa £130k per year from a range of sources. This includes submitting applications to trusts, foundations. It may also include maintaining major donor relationships, and establishing new relationships and leading on public fundraising campaigns. 

  • Developing other sources of income generation as agreed with the Finance & Fundraising sub-group

  • Work with the team to develop Communications and Fundraising Strategies, with support from Organising Team members and Trustees

• Grant management

  • Liaison with funders and donors

  • In collaboration with Delivery Organisers: coordination & submission of grant reporting, monitoring grant deadlines and submission requirements

  • In collaboration with Operations Organiser: putting together grant budgets and monitoring grant allocations

Strategic partnerships and external relations

• Developing professional strategic relationships with the wider sector

• Writing blogs, speaking at conferences, contributing to sector discussions

• Being a spokesperson for Xenia at events

Communications 

• Occasionally creating digital assets for social media and or contributing posts, blogs or promotions, especially in relation to grant funders

• producing a monthly newsletter 

Being an active member of the team

• At Xenia we do not have a hierarchical management structure; instead all team members play an active role in the staff team making decisions that best guide our organisation.

•  As part of this role, you will be expected to play an active role in the Xenia Team. You will join other staff team members in sitting on the Finance and Fundraising sub-group and quarterly Trustee meetings.

• Conduct all work in a way that reflects the values of Xenia.

• Commit to personal development in the role, attend training and development opportunities as is beneficial for you and your role at Xenia(these will be mutually agreed).

• Attend a Xenia workshop every 1 or 2 months for which you will be able to take time off in lieu*. 

* Please note that these workshops take place on Saturday mornings 10am – 12pm, and team members support from 9.30am – 12.30pm. While we are aware that this may not be possible for all good candidates for this role, it is important that the postholder has an in-depth understanding of the activities of the organisation and therefore this is a requirement. Person Specification - Skills and Experience

• Experience of securing funds and donations, particularly from charitable trusts and foundations and/or major donors and corporates, and experience of managing funder relationships

We are looking for a part time Philanthropy Manager (28 hours) for an inspiring medical charity, to focus on growing income from the existing donor database in order to develop mid-level and High Net Worth Individuals programmes.

The Charity
A small, passionate charity dedicated to supporting individuals and their families who are in serious hardship due to age, illness, injury or bereavement. The Role
Work closely with the Head of Fundraising and Communications to implement donor segmentation, build on supporter stewardship and appeal strategies for mid-level and high value individuals.

The role:
As a Community Engagement and Fundraising Officer, you will play a vital role in helping our charity manage and develop relationships with our donors, supporters and our existing key relationships, whilst identifying and creating new relationships in our local areas to garner support and promote our services.

What you’ll bring:Experience

• Preferable, fundraising experience of 1 year, in a community engagement or fundraising role in the charity sector.

Lead Music Therapist

Coram Parenting and Creative Therapy Service

Contract: Permanent, 28-35 hours days per week, 4-5 days per week

Location: Coram campus, London

Coram Parenting and Creative Therapy Service offers art, music and drama therapy, therapeutic parenting, clinical psychology and family therapy to children and families at our dedicated creative therapies centre and in schools.  We work primarily with adoptive and connected carer families, and children who have low level mental health difficulties.  We are a trauma-informed service and have specialist expertise in neuro-diversity and children with special education needs. The well-established team has a strong track record in therapeutic interventions, including music therapy, art therapy and narrative therapy based multi-family groups for younger children who are adopted or with a Special Guardianship Order.  We have a purpose built therapy building and have recently built a music studio for our adolescent work.  We work within very diverse communities and we consciously challenge ourselves and our practice, seeking at all times to be inclusive and anti-racist. We welcome applications from therapists who come from global majority communities.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced HCPC qualified Music Therapist to provide leadership, supervision and management of music therapists and other creative therapists in the service.  You will carry out therapeutic multi-disciplinary assessments and music therapy interventions with adopted and Special Guardianship Order families.  This work involves trauma informed approaches, family work and life story work.  The team is led by a Clinical Psychologist and provides creative, relational, and evidence based approaches, collaborating with wider networks and reaching schools and communities to inform child centred and trauma informed practice. The post holder will receive supervision by a highly qualified Music therapist, and be line managed by a Clinical Psychologist.   The post offers a unique opportunity to work alongside skilled creative and family therapists. We seek to empower children and families using strengths based narratives, as well as accepting vulnerability and seeking opportunity for connection, strengthening resilience and support. 

The successful candidate will be experienced at working with managing and supervising therapists, developmental trauma, and child and family work and operates with initiative and responsiveness in a dynamic professional environment.   A background in CAMHS and/or a social care services would be desirable, with a good understanding of safeguarding planning and managing highly emotive situations. Experience of running multi-family groups would be an advantage. This role requires a supportive professional, a team player, who enjoys working in a diverse, respectful and challenging team.

SALARY:     £43,078k 

HOURS:      28 or 36 hours per week

LOCATION: Hybrid (split to be agreed) – onsite working at our Sydenham Site, 51-59 Lawrie Park Road, London SE26 6DZ

About Us

St Christopher’s Hospice was founded in 1967 by Dame Cicely Saunders, and became the first hospice of the modern hospice movement. We provide invaluable care and support to over 7,500 people across the five London Boroughs of Bromley, Croydon, Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark.

The fundraising team generates more than £10m every year, around half of which comes through gifts left to the charity as legacies. We organise a programme of appeals, campaigns and events, administer our own lottery, make applications to charitable foundations, engage with local business and support individuals who give in-memory of a loved one. This is delivered by a strong employed fundraising team, supported by a number of wonderful volunteers.

Your new role

We are seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated and confident “people person” with excellent organisational skills who is committed to providing first class supporter care. Essentially, you will have experience in legacy fundraising and/or the administration of legacies – and be willing to become an expert in both. 

A passion for hospice care and a proven track record of developing and maintaining strong relationships is also key to this role.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

• This role is required to lead, plan, develop and deliver the legacy fundraising strategy in line with agreed targets within the fundraising team. 
• To build, manage and nurture relationships with supporters and potential legators.
• To create a sustainable legacy pipeline for St Christopher’s and to ensure that legacy increases and continues to be the lifeblood of our voluntary income.
• Managing the Legacy Administration Officer and overseeing all legacy administration activity to optimise legacy income and ensure all gifts in wills left to the hospice are managed in accordance with relevant legislation and internal practises and maximise legacy income for the hospice.

Young Citizens is an education charity on a mission to empower young people to actively engage in society. For over three decades, we’ve been giving young people the tools to understand society’s institutions and tackle its biggest issues. This is a new role that will be responsible for overseeing the quality, development and evaluation of the Young Citizens’ education offer for children and young people – with a specific focus on resources and training. 

The Education and Impact Manager will project manage our work across subject areas (social, democratic and legal education) and across educational phases (mainly primary and secondary). In addition, this role will lead our evaluation processes so we can evidence the impact and outcomes of our work against our theory of change.

Role snapshot:

• Review and develop our educational resources and training offer
• Project manage the delivery of new and updated materials/training and liaise with our internal team as well as external partners in their effective delivery and dissemination
• Oversee their implementation in different settings, writing some personally and using freelance contributors and/or corporate volunteers
• Create and implement an impact measurement framework that feeds into our theory of change and that meets that reporting requirements of our funders and partners
• Develop consistent mechanisms to generate effective and resource-conscious evaluation and feedback to inform decision-making and development
• Manage the staff or freelance contributors responsible for developing our learning resources – ensuring that goals and targets are set in line with organisational plans
• Actively manage corporate partners to provide key updates around any contracted development

Who are we looking for?

We believe the ideal candidate is passionate about writing and developing quality and engaging educational resources for school aged children.

You will have up-to-date knowledge of the UK educational system and detailed knowledge of the PSHE and/or citizenship curriculums for schools.

You will have strong interpersonal skills and project management skills with demonstratable experience working collaboratively and proactively with key stakeholders to deliver high standards of work. 

This is an exciting time for the Charity whilst we review and develop our resources and programmes, the ideal candidate will be keen to help shape the direction of our work whilst demonstrating resilience and the ability to handle ambiguity.
