Switchboard’s listening service is available to all LGBTQIA+ communities in the UK. It offers a safe space for anyone to discuss anything, including topics such as sexuality, gender identity, sexual health, and emotional well-being and more. Handling over 17,000 conversations each year, their services continue to be in high demand, with their network of volunteers overing a vital service to people across the country in times of need, but also proving incredible insights into the issues that impact the LGBTQIA+ community the most.

Since 2021 the organisation has been on a journey to establish a staff team to oversee day-to-day operations within the charity. They are now looking to introduce this new role as they grow throughout 2024 to a team of 11.

Prospectus is delighted to be supporting Switchboard as they look to appoint a Volunteer Community Lead to join the organisation.

This position is offered on a full-time, hybrid basis with 2 days working in the London office a week and the remaining flexibly from home.

The role:

This brand-new role sits within the staff team at Switchboard and reports directly to the Head of Volunteering and Training. The post will work closely with key volunteer-led operational teams. As the charity looks to cover its rota more effectively, they are working towards recruiting and training around 100 new volunteers in 2024, taking the total membership to around 350. This number will continue to grow each year, until they are able to handle ALL of the calls, IMs and emails the service receives.

With this in mind, Switchboard wants to ensure they not only retain new volunteers for a number of years, but that each volunteer books regular shifts, are looked after and feel welcomed and an important part of an active, vibrant and inclusive community.

This role reports into the Head of Volunteering and Training and oversees four main areas: volunteer socials, wellbeing initiatives, celebrations and EDI endeavours. This role is key to ensuring the charity retains, nurtures and engages volunteers within Switchboard, and that they create a community of volunteers which reflects the rich diversity of the wider LGBTQIA+ community.

This vital role will entail, delivering a range of in-person and online engagement events throughout the year, managing the Pride activations for 2025 and onwards, overseeing Switchboard’s programme of volunteer celebrations, managing wellbeing initiatives and ensuring Switchboard continues to celebrate being  a rich, diverse and inclusive organisation.

The person:

The successful candidate will have extensive experience of organising and producing social and professional events of all shapes and sizes. They will have strong exposure to EDI initiatives and will have a natural interest, or actual experience in promoting wellbeing in the work-place.

This person will have outstanding people skills as the soft skill aspects of this role will be absolutely critical to its success. It will be important that this person demonstrates a broad understanding of the issues and challenges people from the LGBTQIA+ community face in their everyday lives. Similarly, this person will need to appreciate that these issues and challenges will also be faced by Switchboard’s community of volunteers as a result.

You will have extensive experience of organising social gatherings in a professional or volunteering setting, both large and small, collating and analysing data to measure effectiveness & impact, managing third party supplier & contractor relationships, in addition to having a collaborative, communicative & empathetic approach to mobilising networks and driving forward levels of customer service and Volunteer experience.

This person will be comfortable with public speaking and engaging audiences, will be highly organised and above all, fully committed to the work of Switchboard, becoming a natural advocate for the organisation both internally and externally as a result. This person will need to be able to manage all in-person events, wherever they are based, so some locational flexibility will be required.

The Social Media and Content Manager reports into the Senior Digital Manager and is responsible for 2 social officers. This is a key role in the Charity Marketing and Digital team working closely with colleagues across the organisation to plan, produce and manage sector-leading content that resonates with our audiences.

The Charity Social Media and Content Manager will manage a busy content calendar with multiple competing priorities, measuring and evaluating social media activity using analytics packages and providing support to create and run social advertising campaigns when needed.  They will use digital tools to help get the job done including, but not limited to, Trello, Sprout Social, Google Analytics, and Facebook Ads Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
 

• Lead the development of a Social Media strategy with the aim of achieving growth across existing and future social media channels
• Monitor content and technology trends within the social media space and make recommendations for innovation and new content types.
• Provide regular reports on our social media activity to key stakeholders, including actionable insight and recommendations for continuous improvement.
• Lead the day-to-day operational delivery and management of The Royal Marsden’s social media channels.
• Plan and programme daily social media content, including a mix of planned, evergreen and reactive content. Utilise a range of content planning tools, such as calendars and planning boards to maximise organisational efficiency in delivering a high-quality social media presence.
• Create and manage social media posts and campaigns, in collaboration with the PR & Comms and Marketing & Digital teams, sharing best practice and insight from analytics data to continually improve performance and engagement.
• Work with the Senior Digital Manager to manage our paid advertising programme and work with our digital marketing agency on delivery of these campaigns.
• Manage the Social Media and Content Officers and work with them on the management of our social media channels and schedule

Person Specification:
 

• Experience managing social media, preferably within a healthcare charity, with a medium to large social audience.
• Experience in running social media advertising campaigns on multiple channels.
• Professional digital publishing experience (using content management systems and social media publishing tools).
• Proven experience of managing content calendars and planning content across multiple channels and audiences.
• Experience of developing, managing, and implementing content strategy across multiple channels and audiences.
• Experience of reporting on social media KPIs to senior colleagues and regularly adapting strategies in light of on-going performance.

About the Role:

The Gender Equality and Social Inclusion Senior Advisor is a senior position in the WASH Technical Effectiveness team, reporting to the Gender Equality and Social Inclusion Lead.

Together with the Gender Equality and Social Inclusion Lead, the Senior Advisor co-leads the delivery of core team responsibilities regarding the thematic areas of GESI and other closely associated topics for high quality WASH programming. Applying a people-centred, systems strengthening approach to WASH, she/he provides high quality specialist technical analysis, advisory, and support services to the design, inception, implementation, troubleshooting, monitoring, and/or assessments of WaterAid's programming worldwide, at both strategic and operational levels.

In collaboration with country, regional and global colleagues, she/he co-leads the facilitation of effective learning and management of technical and programme knowledge across the organisation, and co-leads the development of relevant standards and guidance. She/he also provides strategic and technical input to fundraising, communications, and external engagements.

The Senior advisor has a high degree of independent and professional responsibility within own specialist areas, and discusses with her/his line manager to agree on how objectives are delivered. She/he is seen as a thematic authority and is able to handle highly challenging technical assignments. With a good understanding of organisational dynamics and ways of working, she/he is expected to effectively collaborate widely across WaterAid, facilitating joined-up and comprehensive efforts to advance WaterAid's programming globally.

About You:

• Strong technical experience in gender, equality, disability, social inclusion, rights, and other inter-related topics for WASH programming in both urban and rural, low-income settings, demonstrated through a progressive career record.
• A relevant post-Graduate degree or equivalent work experience.
• Strong experience in offering technical assistance, consulting, and/or advisory services to empower and to develop capacities.
• Ability to handle highly specialized, unusual, and challenging technical assignments, resolve complex issues in practical and imaginative ways.
• Strong writing ability in English. Experienced in producing practical knowledge products targeting needs of diverse audiences.

The Editorial Assistant - EJN will assist the EJN Senior Editor and Content Officer at Internews' Earth Journalism Network (EJN), a global network working with journalists and media outlets in virtually every region of the world to improve the quality of climate and environmental reporting. 

The Editorial Assistant will assist with the production, tracking, and distribution of EJN content, maintaining the EJN website and providing editorial support to EJN program staff across regions. The Society and College of Radiographers (SOR / COR) are two separate companies operating together to provide service and support for those involved in radiography. Together they comprise the professional body and trade union for those practicing in medical imaging and radiotherapy.

The Society of Radiographers has an exciting opportunity for an experienced administrator to join our team in a broad and interesting trade union role.

The Role

Working together with two other experienced administrators, this role will support managers and full-time officers in the important trade union work for our members, including being a first point of contact for enquiries from our representatives and local volunteer SOR representatives relating to casework.

Providing administration support to full time officers, this role will also organise network events and member communications and provide support for the balloting and industrial action process.
Working with other departments, this role will assist in updating and ensuring the integrity of our member data and will produce research and data reports to assist in business planning and decision making. This is an exciting time for the SOR and this role will engage with and provide support for a number of emerging projects that support the business plan and our membership growth plans.

Who we are looking for

The ideal candidate will have previous trade union experience in the administration of case management ballot consultations, industrial action and member networks. Very strong data analysis skills are important, along with the ability to work positively across the team, whilst manging multiple tasks to support projects and varied case work.

The Director of Fundraising will be responsible for leading the Funding Department at ActionAid UK, leading the development and delivery of an effective income generation strategy to support the wider organisation strategic plans. Shirland West is a Mental health service commissioned by Westminster Council, part of the Look Ahead Group since 2019.

The service supports 90 clients across 11 sites, we offer a mixture of 24-hour High Support hubs and visiting stepdown sites as part of a housing pathway in Westminster.

With a proactive and caring frontline team, supportive Commissioners, and close ties with community services, we have been able to deliver quality support for our clients and are now considered a good service (B2).

The successful applicant will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of a hub and the associated stepdown sites.

Working in partnership with stakeholders, external agencies, and our Commissioning Team, you will lead your Team to offer high quality support to customers who experience severe and enduring mental health issues, to maintain their tenancies and empower people to live their best lives independently and move back into independent tenancies in the community.

As the lead responsible for safeguarding our customers, you will promote sector best practice and legislative compliance to keep our customers safe within their environment.

The team structure consists of 1 x Lead Service Manager, 3 x Contract Managers, 1 x Specialist Support worker with additional responsibilities, 1 x Specialist Support Worker, 16 Enhanced Support Workers, 10 Night Support Workers.

As an Independent Domestic Violence Advocate you will:

• Implement effective ways of working with victims and those supporting them to increase safety and reduce harm.
• Provide a high-quality, front-line service to victims of domestic abuse, delivering a premium service prioritised according to risk, primarily focusing on victim/survivors aged 16+
• Work within a multi-agency framework consisting of the MARAC and local partnership responses to domestic abuse to keep safety central to all services for victims of domestic abuse.

You will need:

• Have a knowledge of help-seeking barriers and support needs of victims of domestic abuse (in heterosexual or same-sex relationships).
• Have a good understanding of domestic abuse including the impact of domestic abuse on victims and their children.
• Understand the principles of risk assessment, safety planning and risk management for victims of domestic abuse and their children
• Understand safeguarding issues, and the legal responsibilities surrounding these issues.
• Direct service delivery to victims of domestic abuse or other vulnerable people.

We're looking for 5 kind, compassionate and resilient Support Workers to join our Heany Cluster service in Kensington and Chelsea.

£24,856.00 per annum, working 40 hours per week. Benefits include 25 days Annual Leave, pension schemes, staff discounts, healthcare and career progression.

There are 5 hostels in the cluster ranging from high, medium to low support which are all based in the borough of RBKC. The

Heaney Cluster an intensively supported housing scheme for the most challenging customers in the borough. The majority of the customers come with a history of entrenched rough sleeping; often coupled with enduring mental health difficulties. The aim is to offer a home to those who would have difficulty finding accommodation because of their lifestyle choices involving extreme drug and alcohol misuse. The high support hostel caters for eleven service users with complex needs and is staffed 24 hours a day with the minimum of three staff on duty. The medium support services are staffed from 9am to 9pm where the customers present with varying degrees of mental health issues. The Assessment Centre is staffed 24/7.

The hostels are in close proximity to each other, and staff will be expected to work across the units. Three of the hostels supports both male and female customers and one is males only.
Heaney Hub implements and promotes the Psychologically Informed Environment (PIE) model. This is an approach to supporting people out of homelessness, particularly those who have experienced complex trauma or are diagnosed with a personality disorder. It also considers the psychological needs of staff: developing skills and knowledge, increasing motivation, job satisfaction and resilience.

Support Workers will devise person centred support plans with customers to help them develop the life skills they require to meet their needs and goals. This will include sign posting them to the local drug and alcohol services to address substance misuse issues. They will work with customers to promote social inclusion and alongside other members of the team to promote independent living, encouraging customers to maximise their skills and choices.

This role requires a valid Right to Work for the UK as Look Ahead are not a sponsoring organisation.

What you'll do:

They will play a key role in helping to develop new services and where appropriate will take operational control of these.

About the Role

The Head of Service post holder will take the lead responsibility (under Ofsted registration) as the Adoption Manager of CoramIAC. They will ensure the ongoing delivery of an outstanding VAA that is fully compliant with national minimum standards and regulations; and ensuring high quality adoption support and a sufficient supply of adopters that reflects the diversity of the countries they are adopting from.

Applying to adopt in the UK is open to anyone already in the process with CoramIAC but we do not actively recruit domestic adopters like other VAAs. Approved Intercountry Adopters may however request to change their approval advice to the UK if they are considered a suitable match for children available and waiting for permanence through Adoption in the UK.

CoramIAC predominantly serve prospective adopters from the global majority and as such recruit and train a highly diverse and skilled group of adopters to enable the best outcomes for children whilst also offering adopter and sector diversity for potentially harder to place children. Programme Promotion: 

• Promote the training programme to referral organisations and potential students by delivering inspiring and motivating presentations to attract potential applicants. 

• Build and maintain relationships with referral organisations to enhance programme visibility and referral pathways.

• Manage a dedicated inbox for referrals.

Information and Taster Sessions: 

• Coordinate and deliver information and taster sessions both internally and externally to inform and engage potential participants. 

Recruitment: 

• Recruit a target number of applicants for the programme. 

• Conduct interviews, complete assessment paperwork, and evaluate applicants’ learning needs and support requirements. 

• Signpost applicants not suitable to the programme to other suitable organsations. 

Student Assessment and Support: 

• Support and mentor students throughout the training programme. 

• Monitor student progress and work collaboratively to offer additional support in areas such as housing, finances, mental and/or physical health as needed. 

• Provide assistance to students with general queries and address any challenges they may encounter. 

• Help support students exhibiting challenging behavior and support to deescalate.

• Regularly update referral partners and support agencies on students' progress and identify any ongoing areas where additional support may be needed. 

Reviews and Records Management: 

• Conduct regular reviews with students to track their progress. 

• Maintain and update all required records, including learner records, course content folders, and database entries in accordance with programme requirements. 

Programme Delivery: 

• Work collaboratively with the Training Manager to support the overall delivery of the training programme, including classroom setup and cleanup. 

• Work collaboratively with the Employment & Progression team to ensure students are prepared for work experience. 

• Manage students' travel expenses during the programme. 

• Communicate with students regarding absences or lateness and liaise with trainers as necessary. 

Training Activities: 

• Participate in and support training activities such as external visits and practical sessions. 

• Deliver employability-related workshops. 

• Purchase training equipment and ingredients as needed to support programme activities. 

Transition to Employment: 

• Work with the Employment & Progression team to facilitate a smooth transition for students from the training programme into the Employment & Progression phase. 

• Work collaboratively with the Employment & Progression team and/or other referral partners to identify and/or secure appropriate housing options for graduates.
