Blue Marine Foundation seeks to protect and restore life in the ocean, aiming to see at least 30 per cent of the world’s oceans protected by 2030.  We are a London-based NGO, with around 50 projects in 25 countries around the world.

Following a phase of sustained growth, Blue Marine is seeking a Head of Operations.  This new team member will support the Director of Finance, Operations and Governance to manage a broad scope of operational functions, particularly focused on contracts and agreements, data management, risk management, systems and security.  The role will involve collaborating with colleagues from across the organisation to drive system and process improvements.  (Note that HR is not within the scope of this role.)

Role and Responsibilities: 

Reporting to the Director of Finance, Operations and Governance, you will:

• Write organisational policies and lead the policy workflow process on Sharepoint, driving policies through the amendment, approval and employee attestation phases.
• Manage the relationship with Blue Marine’s external IT Support consultancy, including communicating changes to cyber security and leading asset management processes.
• Support the finance, fundraising and project delivery teams with funding/partnership contracts, agreements and MoU templates, including writing and reviewing routine agreements.
• Assist with the restructure of data architecture across Sharepoint and provide appropriate support and training for colleagues across the organisation, including future new starters.
• Support the implementation of new software and technologies across the organisation, potentially including Microsoft Copilot AI.
• Advise the executive team on data management and GDPR.
• Assess and manage operational risk, including maintaining the organisational risk register but also in the wider promotion of a responsible risk culture.
• Support the finance and fundraising teams with due diligence queries from donors.
• Assess suitability and manage renewals of insurance cover.
• Maintain records and statutory registers and assist with the facilitation of good governance.
• Line management of the Office Manager, taking responsibility for ensuring the office is fit for purpose and driving the office management committee in maintaining high standards of office tidiness and aesthetics.
• Other ad-hoc duties as required.

Personal specification

The ideal candidate will be, above all else, an excellent professional communicator, comfortable with both writing formal documents and managing operational change within the organisation.  You do not need to have legal experience but will nevertheless have a proven ability to produce formal but readable agreements and policy documentation.  You do not need to have a technical IT background but will nevertheless be comfortable discussing best practice and data management within the Microsoft Office 365 cloud environment and use your experience to support colleagues to get the best from the technology available to them.  You will be a champion of Blue Marine’s working environment, taking an active role in the office culture and driving staff engagement of operational systems through giving presentations and one-on-one support to colleagues. About the role

The Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data (GPSDD), hosted at the UN Foundation, is a dynamic international partnership of over 700 organisations. GPSDD connects stakeholders to address data gaps and harness opportunities for sustainable development.

In 2018, GPSDD , Sightsavers and partners, launched the Inclusive Data Charter (IDC)  to promote inclusive, disaggregated data for better understanding and addressing the needs of marginalised people. The IDC has grown significantly, with commitments from over 30 Champions.

Sightsavers, a co-founding champion of the IDC, prioritises inclusive data to support its health and inclusion strategies. The Programme Manager - Inclusive Data will work across GPSDD and Sightsavers, managing strategic programmes and partnerships to advance inclusive data initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Oversee IDC strategic planning and delivery, ensuring team collaboration with the IDC Technical Advisor and Advocacy Lead.
• Manage relationships with IDC champions, facilitating their engagement through regular calls and meetings.
• Foster partnerships between IDC champions, GPSDD partners, and other organisations to share experiences and strengthen inclusive data systems.
• Lead the IDC impact and learning pillar, capturing and sharing progress through data stories and knowledge products.
• Oversee budget development, monitoring, and reporting for IDC and Sightsavers, making resource allocation decisions.
• Collaborate with the IDC Advocacy Lead to identify advocacy opportunities and plan major IDC events.
• Support the Technical Advisor in providing resources and tools for Champions to develop and implement inclusive data action plans.
• Facilitate engagement of IDC co-facilitating partners, including GPSDD, Sightsavers, the UK’s Office for National Statistics and Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office.

About you

The Programme Manager will provide programme leadership for the Inclusive Data Charter initiative, ensuring the development and delivery of agreed plans. You will coordinate the engagement of co-facilitating partners and ensure effective participation by Champions in Charter management. Additionally, you will advance reporting and learning mechanisms to track progress against Champion Action Plans.

The Programme Manager will oversee Sightsavers’ inclusive data programme at a global level, offering strategic leadership across the portfolio. Strengthening relationships with internal stakeholders and external strategic partners will be key to advancing organisational objectives and enhancing Sightsavers’ leadership in inclusive data.

About the role

Sightsavers’ work in the field of education is driven by the principle of inclusive and equitable quality education and lifelong learning opportunities for all. We are looking for a Global Technical Lead – Inclusive Education to provide technical leadership and expertise in inclusive education to guide the development and delivery of specific initiatives and programmes.

As the Global Technical Lead for Inclusive Education, you will support Sightsavers to promote inclusive education for children, youth, and adults with disabilities in education systems in West Africa, East, Central and Southern Africa (ECSA), and South Asia. Working across multiple countries, you will ensure that disability inclusion is at the centre of conceptualisation, design and implementation of Sightsavers’ projects.

Strong communication skills in English and French are essential for this role, as is the availability to travel 12-16 weeks a year, nationally and internationally.

The Supporter Services & Standards Assistant will be a key team member of a busy Supporter Experience, Data and Insight Team in London.

You will be responsible for:
• Responding to supporter queries, questions, and complaints across multiple channels.
• processing and reconciling fundraising income at Sue Ryder.
• Thanking supporters for their donations and assisting with the delivery of supporter journeys, or aspects of supporter journeys.
• Assisting with the management of compliance and best practice at Sue Ryder.
• Responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the Fundraising Database

About You
The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills both written and verbal. You will be organised with the ability work with key stakeholders to identify solutions. Ideally you will have experience with fundraising databases, Raisers Edge or RE NXT with excellent attention to detail and an understanding of the importance of data quality.

This is an excellent entry level opportunity for a capable and proactive individual to advance their career and learn about all aspects of Supporter Care.

The Role
Lead on the development and delivery of the PR strategy to deliver local, national, and global PR campaigns and activities (both digital and offline).

This role will play a key role in supporting our political influencing and public affairs activity, to establish Crisis’ relationship with the newly elected Parliament, and crucially provide the secretariat to the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Ending Homelessness.

Location: Based in our London office (we are open to a range of flexible working options, in line with Crisis’ Hybrid-Working Policy. The team works in the office together one day per week, we can be flexible on this but attending in-person meetings in Westminster and for APPG events will be required) 

About the role

As Public Affairs Officer you will provide the secretariat for the APPG for Ending Homelessness, a well-established cross-party group, with broad interest and engagement from across the sector and who have successfully influenced Government on a range of issues relating to homelessness. The Public Affairs Officer will work with the APPG co-chairs and officers to agree a strategic programme of work and to deliver events, meetings and inquiries in adherence with parliamentary procedures. You will work with the wider Policy and Campaigns team to establish the APPG position on key homelessness and housing announcements, as well as managing the APPG communications via the website, mailing list and social media. Previous APPG activities have included inquiries into the previous Government’s commitment to end rough sleeping, homelessness amongst Ukrainian refugees and homelessness upon leaving public services.

You will also shape and help deliver Crisis’ public affairs activity, including in support of our national campaigns to secure the policy changes to end homelessness, and to increase awareness of Crisis more broadly. This includes shaping regular engagement with MPs and politicians to inspire them to work with Crisis, position us as experts, as well as delivering Parliamentary events and supporting our programme of activity at political party conferences.

The role sits within the campaigns team in the Policy and Social Change directorate, but you’ll collaborate with a wide range of teams across the organisation to identify public affairs opportunities and ensure people with lived experience are at the heart of our political influencing activity, including with Crisis frontline services.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have strong knowledge of parliamentary and political procedures, including experience of working with APPGs or similar groups of politicians. You will have excellent communication and organisation skills, attention to detail, and good ability to understand policy solutions and how best to communicate them to a range of audiences to inspire people to work with Crisis and the APPG.

Understanding or knowledge of homelessness or housing policy is desirable. You may have experience in; public affairs, policy, communications and public relations.
