It Support Officer Jobs in London, Greater London
About Reprieve
Reprieve is a UK charity founded in 1999. Reprieve uses strategic interventions to end the use of the death penalty globally, and to end extreme human rights abuses carried out in the name of “counterterrorism” or “national security”.
Reprieve works with the most disenfranchised people in society, as it is in their cases that human rights are most swiftly jettisoned and the rule of law is cast aside. Thus, Reprieve promotes and protects the rights of those facing the death penalty and those who are the victims of extreme human rights abuses carried out in the name of “counterterrorism” or “national security”, with a focus on arbitrary detention, torture, and extrajudicial executions.
Reprieve’s main office is in Whitechapel, London. Reprieve also supports full-time Consultants, who work as lawyers, investigators and campaigners in the countries in which we work. We work closely with a number of partner organisations in jurisdictions all over the world, who provide access to beneficiaries, expertise, knowledge and guidance on specific issues or regions. We work in cooperation with relevant government officials, individual lawyers and human rights defenders, as well as individual, corporate and foundation funders to further the cause of our shared goals.
About the consultancy
Reprieve’s Operations team works with colleagues and consultants in Reprieve’s London office, in Washington DC and around the globe on HR, office management, IT, safety and security, procurement and general operations. The HR Operations Consultant will join the Operations team to cover a planned absence, working from our office in Whitechapel.
The consultancy will focus on HR processes and administration to cover the full employee lifecycle. This will include:
· Recruitment administration and coordination for staff roles
· Drafting HR documents
· Ensuring Reprieve’s HRS is up-to-date at all times
· Answering routine queries
· Supporting the recruitment of academic and postgraduate fellows
· Annual leave logs and balance calculations.
The consultant will also support the operations team with ongoing projects.
The consultancy is for 5 days per week and will be based in our office in Whitechapel.
Required expertise
The consultant should have previously worked in an HR focussed position, ideally for a small or medium sized charity. Experience in managing recruitment is essential. Working knowledge of HR Software would be desirable; Reprieve uses Breathe HR.
This is an office based role in London, and the consultant must have the right to work in the UK currently and for the duration of the consultancy.

Job Title: Government Fundraising Specialist
Department: Strategic Partnerships
Location: Washington, DC; Maryland; Virginia; New York; London, UK
Salary Range: US $85,246 - $99,738
Salary Range: UK £51,050 – £59,201
All applicants must provide a cover letter for consideration.
About Us: The Fund for Global Human Rights works in solidarity with communities on the frontlines of injustice. As an intersectional funder, we provide flexible funding to our more than 400 grantees around the world, ensuring that they are the ones driving the agenda. By redistributing financial resources, absorbing operational burdens, and embracing risk, we shift power to the ground, generating impact where it is needed most, including in closing and closed societies. Embracing a model of accompaniment, we walk hand-in-hand with the activists we support, and our expert staff come from the movements we serve. We are a trusted partner of both private and public donors and a respected thought-leader within the philanthropic sector.
We view fundraising not merely as a financial activity but as a pivotal element of our strategy for organizing and driving social change. As an intermediary organization, the programming we are able to carry out depends directly on the funding we can raise. Thus, resource mobilization is integral to our approach in supporting human rights movements around the world. As the Fund for Global Human Rights’ income has grown year on year, so has its portion of funding from restricted and complex grants, including from some bilateral donors and the European Union. By establishing strong government partnerships and securing essential funding, we aim to amplify our impact and advance our mission in more than 40 countries around the world where we support grantee partners and human rights movement building.
The Role: This is an exciting new position for a highly motivated, organized, and analytical individual with the opportunity to make a real difference in a growing organization. As our Government Fundraising Specialist, you will be at the forefront of implementing our government fundraising strategy. This role involves a blend of research, advocacy, strategic proposal development, and guidance on contractual and donor compliance. You will join a dynamic, hard-working team responsible for securing 90% of the organization's revenue. Your work will focus on a new two-pronged approach: targeting governments at both the capital and local embassy levels in the regions where we operate our grantmaking programs, with the goal of making this revenue stream a significant component of our organizational budget in the coming years. You will not be starting from scratch, as we currently have secured government funding, as well as numerous relationships with governments that can be leveraged. And you will work in partnership with many colleagues across departments who will contribute to the success of this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Organizational Preparation: Help prepare the organization for success in securing new government funding by developing internal systems, processes, and workflows necessary for effective engagement and management.
- Strategy Development: Contribute to refining and enhancing the government fundraising strategy to align with organizational goals and emerging opportunities.
- Research & Identification: Explore international cooperation trends and the government donor landscape and identify promising funding opportunities.
- Partnerships: Build and maintain strategic partnerships with other organizations to extend our reach and impact.
- Bid Leadership: Oversee the internal bid process, crafting compelling proposals, coordinating cross-departmental efforts, and ensuring timely submissions.
- Policy Analysis: Review and analyze government policy papers to guide strategic funding approaches and inform bids.
- Advocacy: Advocate for our cause within government circles to boost our visibility and secure essential support and help prepare the organization to participate in multi-lateral spaces, organizing side meetings, developing talking points, etc.
- Networking: Build relationships with stakeholders in the philanthropic and international development sectors, including donors, peers, INGOs, and UN agencies to explore areas of collaboration.
- Thought Leadership: Contribute to influential thought leadership pieces to position our organization as a key partner of choice in the sector.
- Compliance: Communicate with internal stakeholders to help ensure strict adherence to all relevant regulations and reporting requirements for government funding.
- Management & Evaluation: Help prepare the project management team to effectively manage a grant by helping to strengthen, and where needed develop, tools and processes to gather necessary information and evaluate the impact of our government grants.
Skills for Success: To excel in this role, you will need:
- Expertise: At least 7 years of experience in fundraising for international human rights, social justice and/or development cooperation, with a proven track record of securing funding from government donors through both relationship building and competitive bids.
- Knowledge: Deep understanding of the government donor landscape and grant processes.
- Compliance Savvy: Strong grasp of compliance requirements related to government grants and experience in working with internal colleagues to prepare organizations to meet these requirements.
- Leadership & Collaboration: Proven leadership skills combined with a collaborative approach to teamwork.
- Communication: Exceptional writing, research, and communication abilities.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze and interpret complex government policy papers and funding opportunities.
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and grant management software.
- Language Skills: Fluency in English, and proficiency in Spanish, French, Arabic or another language a bonus, but not essential.
About You: This role is ideal for you if:
- Balance: You excel in both independent work and collaborative environments, seamlessly transitioning between the two.
- Complexity: You enjoy tackling complex challenges and synthesizing diverse information into actionable strategies.
- Global Perspective: You have experience working in or fundraising for various regions and thrive in a diverse, multicultural setting.
- Collaboration: You believe in a collaborative approach to fundraising, viewing it as a means of organizing for social change rather than a competitive process.
- Passion: Your commitment to human rights and social justice drives your ambition to make a meaningful impact through your work.
Our Team: You will join a dynamic and dedicated Strategic Partnerships team that plays a critical role in securing 90% of the organization’s revenue. We are guided by Feminist Leadership Principles, invite everyone to show up authentically, value a healthy team dynamic, and practice a collaborative approach to fundraising. We believe this style of working together makes us better at our jobs, and our healthy team culture enables us to meet our goals year after year.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive, and well-organised person for this Executive Administrator role. To succeed in this role you will have:

If you have a talent for story telling, are looking for a role where your words can make a lasting impact and are passionate about giving vulnerable young people life changing opportunities, then this is the job for you. We’re seeking a talented individual who can tell our story and help secure vital funding from trusts and grant-makers.
The Role
Trusts and other grant-makers are an important source of funding for our charity and the relationships we have with new and existing funders are more important than ever. This is where you come in.
As our Trusts Fundraising Officer, you’ll be an inspiring storyteller whose enthusiasm for our work shines through in your writing. You’ll play a key role in researching new funders, crafting compelling funding applications, and ensuring we meet reporting requirements for existing supporters.
Your work will involve developing impactful case studies and gathering evidence to show the need for our services to help secure sustainable funding. You’ll be supported by our experienced Trusts Fundraising Manager to build lasting relationships with funders. Together, you’ll keep them engaged and informed about the positive impact they’re making on the young people we support.
What We’re Looking For:
-
Outstanding communication skills – You can write clearly, persuasively and passionately. You’re confident speaking to others about the charity’s work.
-
Writing experience – You have experience writing successful funding applications, proposals, or compelling articles, ideally but not necessarily with a fundraising focus
-
Fundraising experience - You may not have written a grant application before but you should have some paid or voluntary experience in a fundraising capacity.
-
Attention to detail – You take pride in your work, have a good eye for detail and a thorough approach.
-
Self-motivation and organisation – You’re able to manage your own time and prioritise effectively.
-
Passion for the outdoors and youth development – You understand the importance of giving vulnerable young people outdoor experiences and are willing to put on your waterproofs and join in on our activities and camps to witness first-hand the difference the Youth Adventure Trust makes.
-
Willingness to learn - if you think you have what it takes but don’t have lots of experience as a Trusts Fundraiser, this role comes with plenty of scope to develop your writing skills and gain experience within a supportive team environment.
The Charity
At the Youth Adventure Trust, we use outdoor adventure and one-to-one support to empower vulnerable young people from Swindon, Wiltshire and Somerset to fulfil their potential and lead positive lives in the future. We work with them to build resilience, develop confidence and learn skills that will last a lifetime, helping them to face the challenges in their lives.
Dedicated support, guidance and mentoring from our staff and volunteers ensures young people receive the maximum benefit from our long term intervention. Our aim is to make a lasting improvement to the lives of vulnerable young people.
We’re proud to offer our programmes completely free of charge to participants, and with ambitious plans to help more young people, our fundraising efforts are more important than ever.

YPF Trust are seeking to appoint a Chief Executive Officer, to lead the next phase of the YPF Trust’s development in support of place-based partnerships for children and young people.
This role is a crucial one for the sector; we believe that for too long, children's and young people's services have been overlooked, and young people in England do not have access to the services that are required for them to live the full lives that they should be able to. Importantly we believe that the importance of Place has been ignored and that the passion and drive that is found in local community collaboration is a powerful agent for positive change.
You will have passion for social change and a strong commitment for making the lives of children and young people better. You will be collaborative and inclusive by nature and as comfortable working with small community groups as with Government partners and funders.
The Trust and the Network of organisations that feed into it are broad, and diverse and include people who all want to make this world better for children and young people. If this is you, we would love to hear from you.
ABOUT YPF TRUST
YPF Trust is a national charity that focuses on collaboration in place for children and young people – we know that working in partnership makes children and young people’s lives better.
We support a growing network of over 40 areas across England by providing tools, resources, advice, enthusiasm, and challenge to established, emerging and completely new partnerships.
The YPF Trust originated from work initiated by John Lyon's Charity in Brent in 2014/15. In response to significant changes in local funding and the role of the local authority, John Lyon's Charity invested in local collaboration to sustain and increase investment, maximise resources, and enhance quality and impact – this led to the establishment of Young People’s Foundations or YPFs.
YPFs are locally established, cross-sectoral organisations that seek to sustain and strengthen delivery for children and young people in a specific area, shaped by local needs and ambitions. In practice, they convene and coordinate local services, building the sector's capacity and increasing and shaping investment.
Our vision is that all children and young people are heard and supported to be happy and thrive wherever they are. To make this happen, we believe that every local authority area in England requires a strong and sustainable children and young people’s sector and that effective and meaningful partnership and collaboration between local organisations is central to achieving this.
This is why it is our mission to ensure:
- There is a strong and effective partnership for children and young people in every place that it is needed, sustainably funded according to its specific needs;
- Funders recognise, understand and collaborate with partnerships at an individual and network level;
- National and regional infrastructure bodies work together with local areas (and statutory partners) to provide a coherent offer of support to local organisations
YPF Trust also hosts the Centre for supplementary education (formerly NRCSE) to ensure the continuation of support and guidance to community-led settings offering supplementary (also known as out-of-school) education to children and young people.
Supplementary schools are community-based initiatives to provide additional educational support for children who also attend mainstream schools. They are often geared to provide specific heritage languages, cultural and religious teaching for children from ethnic minorities as well as additional literacy, numeracy, science and homework support.
Working alongside local partnerships YPF Trust supports safe, effective delivery in communities and collaborates with them to raise the profile of community-led activities among mainstream schools and other children’s services.
