About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our small but high performing philanthropy and special events team. This role works alongside our senior trusts and statutory manager and head of trusts and statutory to secure funding from charitable trusts and foundations. It’s responsible for managing and growing support from small to mid-level value trusts through compelling proposals and exceptional stewardship.

About you

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone to grow and develop their experience in trust fundraising and make a significant difference for people affected by breast cancer. You’ll be a strong written and verbal communicator who’s passionate about building relationships with charitable trusts and foundations. With a proactive approach and excellent attention to detail, you’ll be able to work well independently and as part of a busy fundraising team. You’ll have experience of managing competing priorities, with the ability to stay calm and positive under pressure.

Internal Communications Officer

About the Role

We are looking to appoint an Internal Communications Officer who will play a critical role in developing and shaping the organisation’s internal communications for the staff of the Connexional Team.

The post holder will work closely with Senior Managers to ensure that the Team’s values, mission and updates are effectively communicated to all Team members working across several sites and from home, to foster a cohesive and motivated work environment.

The successful applicant will strive to create an environment where communication fosters a sense of community, aligned with the Church’s mission and values to create an engaged and informed Connexional Team.

In this crucial role, the Internal Communications Officer will be responsible for establishing and managing channels for staff feedback to leadership, producing engaging content for various channels, and organising and delivering internal events.

The successful applicant will also provide support and training for staff on communication tools and practices, encourage staff to be ambassadors of the Church, and plan and approve regular communications to be sent out to employees including staff newsletters and newsletters from Team members.

About You

The post holder will have at least three years’ experience of working with an internal communications context within an organisation and will have the ability to develop and implement comprehensive internal communications strategies that align with the organisation’s values.

You will be able to articulate messages clearly and effectively, both in writing and verbally, that are tailored to various internal audiences.  Exceptional writing, editing and proof-reading skills for a range of communication channels are a must for this role.

You will also have strong organisational skills with the ability to lead projects, work collaboratively and be proficient in digital communication tools and platforms.

The successful applicant will have strong interpersonal and listening skills with experience in building relationships with key internal stakeholders.

You will also have the ability to develop a deep understanding of the Methodist Church’s mission, values, and objectives to ensure alignment in all communications.

International Field Officer - various locations overseas (January 2025 start date)

Location: Initial Field Officer training will be in Cambodia or Sri Lanka. First posting will be assigned across any of our global programmes.

This application opportunity should ONLY be taken up by individuals able to attend a selection day in south-west Scotland week commencing 14th October, and able to start training in mid January 2025.

The mission of the HALO Trust is: “To lead the effort to save lives and restore livelihoods for those affected by conflict”. HALO clears landmines, disposes of explosive ordnance including IEDs, and is involved in weapon control.

When you become a Field Officer in HALO, you join a team with a shared commitment to making a difference in some of the most vulnerable communities in the world. HALO offers a full training package for the role of Field Officer, and you do not require previous knowledge of landmine clearance or ordnance disposal.

HALO’s Field Officers work across our programmes in various roles and with early responsibilities. You will need the aptitude to be able to function in dynamic and challenging environments and you should have demonstrable management and leadership skills.

HALO’s training will prepare you for deployment to one of our programmes where you could be leading between 250 and 1,000 local employees. On the Field Officer course you will receive technical training in mine clearance, basic explosive ordnance disposal and minefield survey. You will cover HALO’s finance, logistics, security and quality management systems. Once deployed to a programme, in addition to operational field work you will be involved in equipment auditing and maintenance, overseeing repair of vehicles, and writing reports and proposals.

Working for HALO is rewarding, but it is also physically and mentally demanding. Living and operating in remote locations in basic conditions can be wearing. You will be away from home for months on end. HALO Field Officers must be flexible and be willing to be posted to any of HALO's programmes.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Location: Hybrid role with two days at MAF UK, Folkestone, and one day at our Operations Centre, MAF International, Ashford. The remaining two days from home or you may work at the office.

Working Hours: Full-time role (36 hours per week, with flexibility for additional hours occasionally outside normal business hours). Hours should be agreed with the line manager.

Annual Leave: 22 days per year plus 8 paid public holidays.

Overview of Role:

CAT is entering an exciting phase in its development.  In recent years the organisation has achieved significant growth in student numbers, membership and fundraising income.  We have ambitious plans for a transformative project, Cynefin: a flagship, sustainable Welsh visitor attraction and skills hub which is included in the portfolio for the Mid Wales Growth Deal.

The Head of Communications will be a member of the Project Management Team contributing to developing the vision, strategy and business case for Cynefin, supporting the capital fundraising campaign and leading on the engagement and communications.

Main Responsibilities

• Strategic leadership of CAT’s marketing, policy and communications (internal and external).

• Liaise with key stakeholders, represent CAT at events and act as media spokesperson on behalf of the organisation when required.

• Line manage, lead, support and motivate the marketing and communications team.

• Set, monitor and report on team and individual goals and KPIs.

• To procure, brief and manage relationships with external agencies including creative, PR agencies etc in order to deliver strategic objectives.

• Manage the departmental budget and monitor KPIs to:

• • Ensure strong ROI on all marketing activities in support of CAT’s strategic objectives.
  • Deliver on the key aims and objectives of CAT’s policy and communications work.

• Develop and implement communications and marketing strategies, tactics, campaigns and plans in support of key organisational objectives.

• To sit on the Project Management Group for Cynefin contributing to: developing the business case; effective project management; and communication and engagement strategies.

• Oversee/sign off key communications products, such as our supporter magazine, Clean Slate, newsletters, promotional materials, the annual report and press releases.

• Manage the brand to ensure consistent communication of the organisation’s vision, mission and values across all channels and to ensure that the integrity of the brand is maintained and promoted at all times.

• Put in place effective systems, policies and procedures for the effective management of CAT’s policy, communications and marketing work.

• To carry out research and analysis to improve our understanding of our target audiences and develop products to meet their needs.

• Manage crisis communications planning and response.

• Manage media relations and PR.

• Monitor our digital platforms.

• Work with the Head of Statutory Funding to identify other sources of funding for developing CAT’s policy and communications work.

Growing Hope is a charity providing free therapy for children and young people with additional needs in partnership with local churches across the UK. We aim to grow hope for children, hope for families and hope in Jesus. Growing Hope was founded in December 2017 and has a vision to see 20 clinics set up across the UK by 2030. We currently have five clinics, King’s Cross, Brockley, High Wycombe, Gateshead and Redbridge. We worked with over 500 children, young people, parents, carers, siblings and professionals in 2023. 

Role Summary:
We are recruiting an Operations Officer who will support with operations across the charity. This includes supporting the team with administration, finance, training and fundraising. We are seeking an individual who is flexible and adaptive in their approach, and has excellent attention to detail, IT and communication skills. Job Purpose 
Growing Hope is a national charity with a growing number of clinics across the UK. This operations role will provide support across the Growing Hope national staff team. This will include support with administration, finance, fundraising and training. This role is key in enabling all the functions of the national charity to run smoothly and effectively. The role will be based in King’s Cross with occasional events outside of the office.

Main Duties and Responsibilities 
Duties and responsibilities will be discussed and developed as the charity continues to grow. It is anticipated that this time will be flexible and adjusted according to the needs and priorities at the time. Specifically the role with include: 

IT administration

• Administration of IT systems, logins and spreadsheets for the team, volunteers, staff and freelancers (keeping these up to date and amending systems as required).
• Ordering and setting up IT hardware and software for individuals joining the team.
• Oversight of IT systems used by Growing Hope including ticket tailor, jot form, mail chimp, Microsoft office, google adverts and tracking. Supporting with problem solving when issues arise. 
• Overseeing and training others in Canopy (clinic administration software) and helping support and problem solve with using this. This includes liaising with a freelance software developer to manage the development project.

HR administration

• Oversight of the recruitment checking process for new volunteers, trustees, freelancers and employees. This includes carrying out DBS checks, calling referees, chasing for references and communicating with individuals as they start with Growing Hope.
• Management of the ‘internal news’ list in order to track individuals working closely with the charity. 
• Writing, drafting and sending out HR letters, contracts and contract variations. 
• Organising internal events on behalf of the team including away days, training days and ad hoc events. 
• Organising online training as required for members of the Growing Hope team.

Office Support

• Overseeing the day to day office and building use including the alarm, maintenance visits, wifi, printer and other equipment. This includes liaising with other individuals who have office use.
• Liaising with the Director of Operations around the use of the office.
• Ordering office supplies as required, ensuring office space and storage is kept organised. 
• Supporting with external events planning including finding venues, sponsorship and items needed.
• Ordering equipment as required across the team.
• Ad hoc tasks as required across the team. 

Volunteer admin support

• Processing volunteer applications and induction as required. 
• Oversight of volunteers using the office space on a day to day basis. Including allocating volunteer tasks and explaining and supporting with these as required. 
• Managing volunteer IT access. 

General 

• Sending letters and emails and making phone calls as required.
• Logging all actions on Salesforce database.
• Maintain data protection & confidentiality in line with Growing Hope’s policy.
• Ensure adherence to Safeguarding and wider Growing Hope policies.
• Actively contributing to staff prayer meetings and upholding Growing Hope’s Christian values.

Person Specification 
The ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in working in the charity sector, an interest in additional needs and inclusion are highly desirable.

ESSENTIAL

• This role has an Occupational Requirement to be a Christian, as permitted under Schedule 9, Part 1, of the Equality Act 2010.  Excellent copywriting and proof-reading skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent organisation and time management skills.
• Ability to work with Microsoft word, excel, outlook and ppt efficiently and effectively.
• Ability to understand and work with back end IT systems such as wordpress, google admin suite and azure.
• Ability to take initiative and have a flexible approach to tasks. 
• Commitment to Growing Hope’s vision. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, as the task requires

DESIRABLE

• Experience, interest in or commitment to a career in additional needs and inclusion.

• Analyse a new piece of financial guidance for senior NHS leaders, and draft a briefing for members
• Devise a project plan, with support from the policy advisor, to gather insights from trust leaders on financial performance
• Write briefings for senior leaders at NHS Providers ahead of key stakeholder meetings, sometimes within tight deadlines
• Conduct research into a new policy area, and horizon-scan for upcoming milestones
• Collaborate with communications colleagues to draft a press release or blog about the financial and operational challenges facing trusts
• Organise logistics for a roundtable between our members and NHS England

Background knowledge of the NHS would be advantageous but is not essential for success in this role. The key requirements are set out in the person specification below, but particularly:

• to have an appreciation of the policy implications of the portfolio and interest in learning about the detail of these
• ability to organise your workload (with support from the policy advisor)
• strong written and verbal communication skills
• ability to build effective working relationships both within and, where appropriate, outside the organisation.
