About You
The Policy and Engagement Manager is responsible for the development, delivery and evaluation of the Society’s growing policy and engagement programme.
This role will report to the Head of Engagement and Storytelling, with managerial responsibilties for the Policy and Engagement Officer, and will have responsibility for leading the development and coordination of key strategic policy and engagement activities, including progressing external scientific and higher education policy for the Society and promoting the importance of engaging in policy-making to members of the Society.
Suitable candidates will have experience in developing evidence-based policy, including in research, innovation and higher education policy. They will also have excellent communication and organisational skills, and the ability to manage and build effective relationships with key stakeholders engaging in the Society’s activities.

This role plays a key part in the planning and delivery of capital projects programme across the Estate, by supporting the Deputy Head of Building & Facilities. The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of the project programme, including project managing the larger and more complex capital projects.

About the role
Working at a strategic level, you will have overall responsibility for identifying and securing the income streams to support the activity of this newly formed organisation (merger of 3 local Citizens Advice offices), working the Chief Executive and other members of the management team. You will actively monitor the advice landscape and stay informed about industry innovations and emerging trends, proactively identifying opportunities to integrate relevant advancements into the organisation.
You will also be responsible for the line management of the Fundraising Officer, Communications Officer and the Research and Campaigns Coordinator.
Role Responsibilities:
- With the CEO, design a sustainable funding model and a diverse project portfolio for CAOX that guards against over reliance on a single funder or work type.
- Identify and secure new business opportunities that generate income and are aligned with the organisational and strategic aims.
- Create a standardised fee structure for core services to ensure consistency and transparency when preparing bids and proposals
- Negotiate contracts and service level agreements to ensure the work scope aligns with contract value.
- Manage multiple bids and innovation projects, prioritising effectively and demonstrating financial efficiency.
- Supported by the Fundraising Officer, lead on identifying and writing compelling and persuasive funding bids.
- Ensure a strong funding pipeline is maintained by tracking and planning fundraising activities, applications and forecasted income.
Demonstrable experience and achievements:
- A successful track record in business development and identifying new funding opportunities to achieve significant impact, meet user needs and maintain standards.
- Strong leadership experience, with the ability to inspire and lead a passionate and committed team, at all levels of the organisation, to perform to the best of their abilities
- Experience of building positive and productive relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders.

Job Purpose:
- To provide high quality, proactive and efficient support to the service pipeline, service transformation project and service team members across the UK, whilst maintaining appropriate systems and processes to support the effective delivery of service innovation and development
- To act as a resource for colleagues offering direction through the service innovation process, assisting colleagues with document/project development and the agreed deliverables, and being available for light touch project support and guidance

At the Leadership Skills Foundation, we believe that research should do more than just collect data. It should drive real-world solutions that improve the lives of the young people we serve.
Currently the organisation supports around 100,000 learners each year. As an innovation team our key priority is to ensure our learners experience high quality programmes that are relevant to them now and for their futures.
In 2023, we launched our Evolve strategy to broaden our offer and we now have leadership skill programmes embedded across more age groups and subjects than ever. This has seen us develop exciting new partnerships and programmes such as our Environment Leaders Programme with WWF and RSPB and a new programme for primary school learners called the Shape Your Skills Award.

As Innovation Lead (Impact and Evaluation), you will use data and insights to support innovation, shape our programmes, and maximise impact. This dynamic role requires a creative thinker who can blend research with fresh ideas, experiment with new approaches, and turn insights into action.

As Deputy Director, Strategy & Innovation, you will:

Ideal skills and experience:
- A solid understanding of various fundraising disciplines, as well as the key principles of supporter engagement and experience, achieved through operating at a senior level in a busy fundraising team

- A strong planner and strategic thinker, with proven experience of developing, guiding and implementing strategy at department and cross-organisation level

The successful candidate will be based in Manchester and you must be genuinely interested and committed to working across the City /Region. The role will support the delivery of communications across the organisation, as well as on flagship projects. They should have a passion for comms, and with support from the current comms team they will learn to lead on organisational comms across Innovation Unit. While primary focus of this role is Comms, the successful candidate will also support a range of client facing innovation projects as well as internal projects such as team learning events and business development, playing a role of project coordination.

Successful candidates will be based either in London or Greater Manchester and support a range of client-facing innovation projects as well as internal projects such as team learning events and business development, primarily playing a role of coordination. You will be working on a range of different projects, tasks may include but are not limited to:
Project Coordination and Delivery

Support Project Leads to plan and coordinate projects including tasks such as: drafting delivery updates for clients; recording minutes; scheduling meetings; and understanding/raising any risks.

Support the delivery of client-facing projects through tasks such as: leading on event logistics (online and in person) and at times co-designing and co-facilitating workshops; analysing complex information; drafting and designing event documents; and, developing communication materials such as slides and web content.

Collaborate with your project team to share learning with the wider organisation.
Research and Service Design

Make sense of complex information, analyse data and generate learning.

Undertake or coordinate specific pieces of primary and secondary research and writing

What will you be doing?
We are looking to recruit a committed individual to support the delivery and development of our youth justice practice work, specifically to provide support to police and youth justice services in the delivery of youth diversion.
Youth diversion schemes are a way of addressing low-level criminal behaviour without putting children through the formal criminal justice processing (either through out of court resolutions (OOCRS) or prosecution) that can result in a criminal conviction and other negative consequences. These schemes operate for under-18s in a variety of different models across the country.
Since 2014, we have provided direct support to over 70 YJSs and their local police forces to develop their diversion schemes, as well as supporting the development of new schemes. In this role, you will help provide this support, which will include: delivering multi-agency workshops, assessing practice against the evidence base, reviewing guidance and protocols and providing recommendations for improvement.
The role will also include:

Identifying and supporting areas for practice development;

Working closely with Youth Endowment Fund, Youth Justice Board and the National Police Chiefs’ Council;

Developing practical tools to support practitioners;

Presenting at external events;

What will you be doing?
We are looking to recruit a committed individual to support the delivery and development of our criminal justice practice work, with a focus on women’s justice. This is an exciting opportunity where the successful applicant will be actively contributing to the design and delivery of our expanding women in justice area of focus within the Centre.
The role will primarily support our work to expand and enhance community justice for women. This means working in partnership with statutory partners such as police, probation, the judiciary and court staff, as well as 3rd sector organisations including women’s centres to support evidence-led practice.
The successful applicant will be responsible for supporting our women’s problem-solving court network. This will involve (i) identifying and convening practitioners and others who are interested in women’s problem-solving approaches; (ii) facilitating and delivering training and practice sharing workshops; and (iii) developing briefings and toolkits that support the spread of good practice.
Problem-solving courts are specialist courts that focus on addressing the underlying issues and problems that drive offending behaviour. They specialise in a specific set of issues or around a specific target group, such as women with multiple unmet needs. They operate with multi-agency teams to provide tailored interventions and supervision, combining this with judicial monitoring, where individuals regularly appear before the same judge to review their progress.
The Practice Officer will also support us to expand our reach in Out Of Court Resolutions (OOCRs) and pre-court diversion, working directly with police and other agencies to develop or improve their gender-responsive diversion schemes.
