ABOUT THE ROLE
The Church of England is continually striving to improve its safeguarding practices. The 2020 report by the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA) on the Church highlighted failures in respect of child sexual abuse and, more broadly, the challenges facing the Church to get safeguarding right. The Redress Scheme has been set up following the Church hearings at the IICSA and the Church has committed itself to be more survivor-centred.
The Church Relations Manager role is part of the Church of England National Redress Project Scheme which falls within the National Safeguarding Department.
As the Church Relations Manager, you will help and support the Dioceses, Cathedrals and other Church bodies nationally to understand the potential impact of the Redress Scheme and to assess their readiness to respond understand and embrace the benefits the Scheme will bring to the Church and welcome the Scheme as part of the overall mission and ministry of the Church.
Core Responsibilities
- To gain an understanding of the Redress Scheme and the current challenges it faces to oversee and lead on agreed aspects of activity for the project, whilst working with various diocese and other church bodies to understand local contexts, concerns and opportunities within the wider context of safeguarding and their contribution in embracing and delivering the Redress Scheme.
- To effectively provide progress reports whilst identifying opportunities, risks and concerns at regular intervals to the relevant Church bodies and boards.
Other Key Requirements
- This is a hybrid role and frequent travel in England is a requirement.
- A basic DBS check will be required as part of our pre-employment checks.
Please note: The role is also suitable for applicants who choose homeworking as an option, however, homeworking is not a requirement for the role. As frequent travel in England is a key requirement of your role, this will be expensed, but travel to the Church House (office location) will not be expensed if you choose to come to the office.

Your Salary
- A market salary of £66,150 per annum, plus age-related pension contributions between 8-15% of salary. We will also match any pension contributions you make up to an additional 3% of your salary.

The role
National Energy Action (NEA) has recently secured funding to develop a new pilot project that aims to help local people reduce their heating bills, create healthier homes, and be ready for the transition to net zero. Over two years, a local energy retrofit hub will be established in three different locations, each with two members of staff who will help build trust, provide guidance and support, harness opportunities, and empower local people to achieve and benefit from change. The key will be to work at the heart of the community to encourage / support / enable householders to take up existing grants for energy efficiency measures but in addition, practical (funded) assistance will be available to enable retrofit works and to offer additional non-funded support as necessary. As well as the important benefits to participating households, this demonstration project will provide valuable insight into the attitudes of low-income householders towards energy efficiency improvements, highlighting challenges and barriers to retrofitting energy efficiency measures into the homes of those who need it most. NEA intends to utilise the knowledge gained (positives and negatives) to inform and influence those who make the decisions and design key national energy efficiency campaigns.
The Local Energy Efficiency Co-ordination Officer will be one of two staff based in, and working to establish, a new local energy retrofit hubs in Sheffield and either Burnley, Blackburn or Hyndburn (TBC). We are also recruiting for a Local Energy Efficiency Support Officer in the same location(s) (job ref R71 and R75). The Local Energy Efficiency Co-ordination Officer will carry out development work to understand the make-up of the local area, the housing stock, existing networks and strategies and to identify gaps in provision. They will be responsible for identifying opportunities for significant schemes such as ECO to be implemented on a larger scale and to build partnerships with organisations working locally where they can add to the retrofit experience. Through the action taking place in the community, the Local Energy Efficiency Co-ordination Officer will build local capacity with installers and supply chains to deliver energy retrofit measures in a supportive environment. They will also co-ordinate or deliver advice and events in the community to householders and/or others to raise awareness of retrofit practice and technologies as well as to inform and de-mystify. Impeccable customer service will be at the heart of all community engagement.
The Local Energy Efficiency Co-ordination Officer will work alongside other NEA departments to share experiences and learnings and to assist with the progression of other elements of the project. They will be expected to identify local/regional funding opportunities and assist NEA’s Fundraising and Partnerships team to produce proposals where applicable.
NEA’s Local Energy Efficiency Co-ordination Officer role sits in the Directorate of Homes and will report to the Community Retrofit Project Manager.
What you will need to succeed
Local Energy Efficiency Co-ordination Officers will have experience working in energy retrofit, community development and regeneration or housing sectors. They will also be an excellent communicator with experience and understanding of how to effectively address the energy needs of low income, vulnerable or disadvantaged householders – with the desire to make a positive difference to people’s lives.

Post holders must be resident within the UK and be able to provide their Right to Work in the UK.
We are offering:

£32,641 to £37,304 per annum (Scale SO1 - SO2, Points 23 – 28). New appointments will usually begin at the starting point of the scale.

About this exciting opportunity
Working as part of a multi-agency team, you will provide person-centred support to a caseload of service users who will either be serving community sentences or being released from prison. You will undertake assessment and action planning with individual service users, create a safe and trusting environment, using trauma-informed practice to successfully facilitate a supportive and constructive relationship with service users, plus deliver a range of interventions to service users which contribute towards achievement of prescribed outcomes.
We will also count on you to develop and maintain positive working relationships with external agencies, including probation, prisons, partners, and others who will assist in achieving prescribed outcomes for service users, ensuring you work towards contractual targets and outcomes within agreed timescales. Using agreed CRM databases and recording all activity relating to caseload and providing updates and reports are also key duties.
What we are looking for
• Experience working with partner agencies either as part of a multi-agency team working towards common objectives or negotiating to establish links to further the aims of a project
• L3 in Advice and Guidance or equivalent
• The ability to assess clients’ needs and provide tailored, client-led support through action planning and interventions involving advice, guidance, advocacy, and coaching
• An ability to work sensitively with clients applying trauma-informed strategies
• Impressive IT, relationship-building and communication skills, both verbal and written.

You will be an energetic and enthusiastic qualified teacher with experience of working with children from Early Years Foundation Stage through to Key Stage 2. You will play a key role in raising the children’s attainment and achievement at school, and will be committed to enhancing the lives of children in the local Traveller community.
Key responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
- To contribute to the raising of attainment and achievement of children from the Traveller community. With particular focus on reading, writing & spelling.
- To provide out of hours teaching at the mini-club across the Early Years Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, up to age 8.
- Help children access learning activities through a range of support strategies including ICT.
- To liaise closely with the Traveller Teacher/mentor at Oxford Gardens to share information about the children’s attainment levels, planning and the support that is needed for individual children.
- Provide objective and accurate feedback and reports if necessary on the children’s achievements and progress.
- To work in partnership with the Travellers’ families encouraging them to be involved in their children’s learning.
- Help set-up the classroom and clear down once lesson has finished.
Experience, knowledge and skills:
- Experience of teaching in one or more of the following key stages: Early Years Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 is desirable, but not essential.
- Experience working with children and their families from the Traveller community is desirable but not essential.
- Experience of working in partnership with schools, other support services and statutory agencies.
- Successful direct experience of teaching children with additional needs.
- Full working knowledge of relevant policies/codes of practice and awareness of relevant legislation relating to Traveller communities.
- Ability to self-evaluate learning needs of children and be able to actively seek additional learning opportunities.
- Possess good interpersonal/communication skills and be able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing in a range of situations.
- A good understanding of the local area would be highly desirable.

About this exciting opportunity
This key role will see our successful candidate oversee the strategic development of the Alliance service Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) provision with the aim of maximising the progress of young people coming into contact with the service with SEND, including personal and social development. You will also provide advocacy to support young people to re-enter mainstream education when required and ensure education providers carry out their statutory responsibilities regarding young people with Statement of Special Educational Needs, feeding into EHCPs.

We are seeking a dynamic and innovative community mental health and wellbeing support worker to lead a new programme based in Lewisham for LGBTQ+ individuals, with a focus on developing support in people of colour (POC) communities. We will work with the communities, especially from an intersectional lens to develop co-produced wellbeing activities to ensure greater mental health and wellbeing. Activities such as walking, cooking, reading, banner making, gardening groups and one to one support will be provided. This job would suit someone who is able to work with a diverse range of people to ensure they can meet their mental health and wellbeing goals but also has good relational skills.
Programme
This role will be part of two programmes of work which we are funded for. One is our existing mental health and wellbeing drop-in programme, one to one advice and advocacy for LGBTQ+ communities, and a second programme of work called Lewisham Proud and Well, designed to work with communities to co-produce activities which will support and stimulate wellbeing for the participants. The aim of the programme is to help participants feel more independent and more aware of the range of service provision and help that is available locally. We want to build an intersectional group of people and create the environment where LGBTQ+ people of colour can support and encourage each other towards greater wellbeing.
Role
This role will include client assessment, one-to-one support and advice work, as well as group work facilitation. You will work alongside and be line managed by the Programme Coordinator for Lewisham Mental Health and wellbeing services, co-facilitating group work and one-to-one support together. You will also work with a small team of volunteers who work on the projects.
