We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate Store Manager to join Barnardo's on a full-time permanent basis.
As a Store Manager you will manage the day to day running of our Leicester Store, leading a team of colleagues to maximise store sales and profits. By doing so you will play a crucial role in raising the funds for the amazing services and support Barnardo's provides for children, young people, parents, and carers across the UK.
Location: Unit 5 Sturdee Road Neighbourhood Centre, Sturdee Road, Leicester, LE2 9DA
Working Pattern: As the store is open 7 days a week, the successful post holder will be required to work 5 days out of 7 (total of 35 hours per week) on a rota basis which will include weekend and bank holiday working.
Please note the role will include moving high volumes of stock on a daily basis.
Some but not all key responsibilities are:
- Ensuring stock is generated over the door by members of the public and donors sign up to the Gift Aid scheme.
- Ensure that the high standard of service to customers that is expected by Barnardo's is maintained at all times.
- Implement promotions in the Store as directed by Head Office or your Area Business Manager.
- Maintain a high standard of presentation, both in the windows and the interior of the Store.
- Ensure there is adequate stock available on the shop floor, at all times, on all key lines
- Provide training, development, work reviews and appraisals for paid staff to enable them to perform their jobs efficiently and effectively.
- Create an organised and pleasant working environment for staff and volunteers.
- Actively recruit the correct/specified number volunteers to deliver the stores objectives and KPI's.
- Ensure all financial, cash handling and security procedures are adhered to as per the Barnardo's Manager's Manual and the relevant Retail procedures.
- Hold the shop keys, ensuring that the shop is secure whenever it is left unattended.
Ideal Candidates Must Haves:
- Ability to deliver excellent customer service.
- Experience of managing people
- Ability to liaise and respond to a variety of people from varying backgrounds.
- Ability to meet the needs of customers on a face-to-face basis, in order to generate sales and increase customer usage of the shop.
- Ability to add, subtract, divide, and multiply up to four figures in order to maintain budgets and complete accurately weekly income/banking sheets.
- Ability to handle cash and reconcile accurately.
- Proven experience of meeting targets and KPI's.
- Basic IT skills.
The Retail section consists of more than 700 Barnardo's shops across the UK. These high-street stores are reliant on donations from the public and corporate supporters,and generate funds from the sale of these donated items. Our Wigan & Leigh service are recruiting for 2 compassionate and approachable Family Workers, to provide information and advice to parents in relation to substance misuse and its impact on themselves and their family. The postholder will work as part of an integrated network of dedicated professionals, supporting parents to make positive changes in relation to substance misuse. As part of this role, you will be working in our new Family Safeguarding Model, providing support and advice to families and parents who are experiencing difficulties due to substance misuse.
As a Family Worker, you will offer interventions to support parents with substance misuse issues, whilst working to raise awareness of and improve access to appropriate services, with a focus on using Motivational Interviewing techniques. You will provide ongoing support through 1:1 or group sessions. It will be vital for you to develop strong and positive relationships with clients and their families, whilst managing an active caseload and ensuring continuity of care.
The role will be based in one of our Family Hubs. Our Family Safeguarding Teams are co–located multidisciplinary teams consisting of social work professionals and adult workers. Their aim is to work collaboratively with families, at the right time, respecting families’ rights, following guidance and law. They take a whole family approach to child protection to keep more children safely at home with their families.
You will have demonstrable experience of working in the health, social care or family setting, with the ability to connect quickly with clients and families. It is important that you are self-motivated and resilient, as well as comfortable working alone and on a one to one basis. Working knowledge of substance misuse would be advantageous but we are open to conversations with all applicants who have a passion for working with families. Above all, we are looking for someone who is empathetic and values-driven and has the drive to make real changes, using a positive and engaging approach.

6. Impact: Overseeing the work of the Director of Impact to ensure that the charity strengthens its approach to monitoring and evaluation, and that all preparations are successfully completed ahead of a potential independent external evaluation of our core programme in 25/26.
7. External Affairs: Overseeing both our fundraising and advocacy workstreams, including the development of relationships with new funders and politicians and policymakers. The Responsibilities
You would carry ultimate oversight of, and responsibility for, St Michael’s administrative operations and infrastructure. In more detail, this includes:
1. Leadership Team Support and Planning Your expertise and thinking will shape how the vision becomes reality, proposing creative ways to move the church forward and advising the leadership of the deliverability of ideas. You’ll have oversight of the central calendar, facilitating forward planning – this will involve organising pastoral staff and operations staff meetings and advising in resource distribution across St Michael’s ministries and events. You will attend PCC and committee meetings (e.g. Finance), aiding in the planning and running of these meetings while contributing from an operations perspective. You’ll also work closely with the leadership team on longer term planning, for example, investigating future ventures and new ministry initiatives.
2. Management of the Operations Team
• The Operations team will all report to you, and you’ll be responsible for their deployment, welfare and training
• You’ll be the key communication link between the vision of the pastoral staff and the operations team. Management experience is a must
3. Finances
• Working alongside the Treasurer, leadership and finance teams to develop the annual budget
• Coordinating annual reports and accounts with the leadership and finance teams
• Contributing to strategy for increasing church’s income and stewarding its resources wisely
• Developing robust systems of financial policy and procedure (in consultation with the treasurer)

Since 2018 we’ve been hosting Pop Up’s during easter and summer months, across Bristol, in various special schools which has seen us welcome over 23,500 visitors. Each one has helped hone and improve our delivery model, and longer-term plans. These Pop Ups have seen some incredible firsts, including:
· A 6 year old taking their first steps
· A 12 year old sleeping through the night for the first time
· A 3 year old having his first laugh
· An 8 year old rolling over for the first time
Families have travelled from all over the country to enjoy the Pop Ups, some covering 6-hour journeys just for their afternoon of fun!
During COVID we quickly adapted our offer to include a Lending Library which continues to this day, offering nearly 300 items of specialist equipment, free of charge.
In 2023 we purchased a new site to develop into a permanent home which will open in summer 2026. Redevelopment is underway, and so too is an £8 million campaign to support this extraordinary project.

Gympanzees is a growing team which currently consists of 16. The fundraising team consists of 6 people. This role is a crucial member of the fundraising team and will be delivering on a vital income stream that is both financially and strategically significant for the capital project.
Job description
As the Senior Fundraising Manager for Trusts and Statutory, you will play a pivotal role in securing vital income from across these funding streams, whilst leading a small team to maximise their own fundraising efforts from similar sources.
This position is ideal for someone with proven experience in researching and crafting successful grant applications from both traditional grants as well as local and national statutory source. It will especially appeal to those with capital campaign experience but is not a pre-requisite.
You'll be tasked with distilling complex information into compelling narratives that effectively convey our mission and objectives while aligning with grant requirements. Excellent copywriting skills are essential, as you'll need to create engaging and informative content that tells our story authentically and passionately.
Your approach will be highly organised and methodical to ensure accuracy and compliance with grant briefs. Reporting to the Director of Fundraising, you'll collaborate closely with a high-level fundraising team to maximize funding opportunities and drive positive impact. Additionally, you shall line manager the Trust and Foundations Manager.

Main Responsibilities - include but are not limited to.
1. Grant identification and Research: Conduct thorough research to identify
potential grant and statutory funding opportunities from government agencies, foundations, corporations, and other sources aligned with Gympanzees' mission and projects.
2. Grant Proposal Development: Lead the development of compelling grant proposals, including conducting needs assessments, defining project objectives, outlining budgets, and articulating impact metrics.
3. Grant Application Process: Manage the end-to-end grant application process, including drafting, editing, and submitting grant proposals within deadlines, and ensuring compliance with funder requirements.
4. Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain relationships with existing and potential funders, including government agencies, philanthropic organizations, and corporate partners, to enhance funding prospects and collaboration opportunities.
5. Budgeting and Financial Management: Collaborate with the finance team to develop project budgets, monitor spending against grants, and ensure accurate financial reporting to funders.
6. Grant Compliance: Ensure compliance with grant agreements, reporting requirements, and regulatory guidelines, and coordinate with relevant stakeholders to fulfill reporting obligations.
7. Grant Performance Monitoring: Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness and impact of grant-funded projects, collecting and analyzing data to assess outcomes and inform future funding strategies.
8. Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with program managers, finance staff, and other team members to align funding strategies with organizational priorities and project needs.
9. Knowledge Sharing: Stay informed about trends and best practices in grant funding and statutory funding opportunities relevant to Gympanzees' mission and share insights with the team.
10. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and capacity-building initiatives to enhance the organization's grant-seeking efforts and overall fundraising strategy.
11. Management of Grants and Trust Officer and grants consultants that we are working with.
Skills you’ll need
1. Proven experience in grant writing, fundraising, or development, preferably in the nonprofit sector.
2. Strong understanding of grant funding mechanisms, including government, foundation, and statutory funding programs.
3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft persuasive grant proposals and communicate complex ideas effectively.
4. Exceptional organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines under pressure when needed.
5. Financial acumen, including budget development, financial reporting, and grant compliance.
6. Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a results-oriented approach to achieving funding targets.

Weston Hospicecare is seeking a passionate and self-motivated fundraiser to develop and grow our Legacy and In Memory fundraising activity. This is an important area of income for the Hospice, and we are looking for someone who can either bring their existing expertise to this role or who is keen to develop their current fundraising experience within legacy fundraising.
To be successful in this role, we’re looking for someone who will:
· Lead on the development of Weston Hospicecare’s Legacy and In Memory fundraising strategy, using your expertise to analyse activity and grow this area of income, building the financial resilience of the Hospice.
· Inspire support by developing a compelling Legacy fundraising proposition to encourage support from existing and new supporters.
· Deliver results through inspiring communications and promotional activity, bringing to life the extraordinary work of Weston Hospicecare and driving legacy pledges and support.
· Build strong relationships with a range of people, including local firms of solicitors, supporters, patients and their families and members of the team.
· Utilise your exceptional attention to detail and expert knowledge to monitor and administer existing estates, working with solicitors and executors to expedite settlement and where possible, accurately predict timelines for income.
· Provide excellent stewardship to existing supporters and pledgers through regular updates and inspiring events to demonstrate the impact of support and develop and nurture these important relationships.
· Devise an effective In Memory strategy to build upon and support this area, monitoring existing opportunities and developing new activity. Sensitively use personal stories, images and testimonials to strengthen this key area of income and offering a lasting tribute for families.
· Amplify the work of the team through sharing ideas and knowledge. Keeping up to date with sector developments and ensure best practice across all Legacy and In Memory fundraising activity.
· Work with an ambitious, positive and creative approach, with experience in working collaboratively organisation wide.

Whilst we are looking for someone to work 37.5 hours per week, we will also consider compressed hours or part-time hours of 30 per week for the right candidate.
