Here at Youth4Youth, we have grown a strong, tight-knit community of individuals who are passionate about making a difference and improving the lives of young people across the UK. At The Brain Tumour Charity, we aim to address the clear gap in emotional support available to those affected by a brain tumour diagnosis, by expanding our counselling service. How can you help?
We are in a position to offer a number of unpaid student placements, to those training to be integrative or person centred counsellors, which will see you work via telephone/webcam only, with a wide range of clients; from those newly diagnosed, to those at end of life, carers and bereaved loved ones.
This is a home-based role, and you can help by volunteering your time to see a minimum of 3 clients per week, between the hours of 9am—5pm, Monday—Friday.
We’re looking for students who:
- Are in their 2nd year of studying for the Level 4 Counselling Diploma (or equivalent)
- Have been signed off as ’fit to practice’ by their tutor and have already accrued at least 30+ client hours.
- Are student members of the BACP (or equivalent) and work in line with their ethical framework.
- Are committed to accessing clinical supervision on a monthlybasis, as per the guidance from your ethical body.
- Have their own public liability insurance (or are willing to obtain this.)
- Will be committed to following our safeguarding processes and will only work within their limits of proficiency.
- Will observe confidentiality in line with their ethical framework and The Charity’s organisational policy.
- Have the capacity to work autonomously and IT abilities to be able to maintain appropriate and accurate records on our counselling database.
- As this is a home-based role, you will need access to a telephone and computer that you are happy to use for this service.

Practical considerations

Care4Calais is a volunteer-based charity providing essential aid and support for refugees in France and the UK.
In northern France we operate year-round from Calais, providing warm clothing, bedding, food and assistance to refugees who live in appalling and dangerous conditions.
Across the UK we collect and distribute clothes, shoes, mobile phones and other essential items, as well as offering social support and interaction, including language lessons, sport and music workshops. We also help with vital access to legal, medical and educational services.
Our Legal Access Department is an access to justice project that exists to arrange critical legal representation for people seeking asylum and, more than this, to support people through the hostility and difficulty of claiming asylum. The department, made up mostly of volunteers, works tirelessly to ensure that people feel informed, empowered, and far less isolated and alone.
About the role
The aim of this role is to provide crucial one-to-one casework and support to people seeking asylum in the UK. Our Asylum Team assists people seeking asylum in navigating the UK asylum process by finding them specialist solicitors and working with our volunteer interpreters to help them organise their paperwork. We currently work with 100+ legal firms around the UK, providing an invaluable service to both the person seeking asylum/client and the overstretched legal immigration teams. You’ll have the chance to gain broad experience of working in a fast-paced and experienced team while meeting the ever-changing needs of those we support. Purpose of role:
Support the Nova Family Programme tutors in facilitating online home school sessions.
Role Description:
This role will be to act as a teaching assistant to tutors delivering online English, maths and science classes (for young people at Key Stage 2 and 3). With the disruption of Covid-19, many families have been thrown into the unknown world of home schooling – made even more challenging when your own education isn’t up to scratch or English is your second language. We are delivering a free programme of online home school support to those who have been most negatively impacted by being out of school. Now that Schools have reopened, we will be continuing these sessions to ensure that learners do not fall behind as Schools focus on catching up on lost learning. The aim is to support children who may be falling behind with their studies and mitigating as far as possible the widening attainment gap.

FareShare Greater Manchester is looking for volunteer Driver's Assistants to join our busy friendly delivery team with redistributing tonnes of surplus food a month to charities and community initiatives across Greater Manchester.
FareShare is a national charity fighting food poverty and global warming by tackling food surplus. We source overstocked food from retailers and manufacturers and engage many volunteers to help re-distribute it to over 220 frontline charities and community groups across Greater Manchester. These groups, in turn, provide meals to vulnerable people experiencing food poverty, individuals who are homeless, families, and people who are unemployed or socially isolated. This food would otherwise have gone to waste, so we are simultaneously supporting people in need and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Key responsibilities
Working closely with the driver of a temperature-controlled 3.5 tonne Mercedes Sprinter van to deliver surplus food orders to the premises of the benevolent projects we support.
Loading and unloading the vehicle and carrying out a range of tasks, from basic vehicle checks to delivery administration.
