Action Village India (AVI) is a small UK based organisation that since 1989, has been supporting Indian partner organisations who work alongside villagers in some of the most remote parts of rural India so they can improve their lives, livelihoods and resilience. We are not governed by donor funding cycles and agendas but are led by our partners and the needs they identify and are committed to shared learning and collaboration. We keep our UK costs to a minimum with core staff and rely on an active and engaged set of Trustees, volunteers and supporters.  Both staff and Trustees of Action Village India have relationships with staff from our partner organisations, created through ongoing dialogue, partner and community visits and participation in learning forums.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Fundraising and Partnerships Manager

Job Purpose: To develop fundraising proposals and raise funds from trusts and foundations. To raise funds for Action Village India through our trading activities and events.

Reports to: Executive Director

Salary: £30,000 pro rata

Hours:21 hours per week (equivalent to 3 working days) – ideally including Wednesday and Thursday.

By agreement there is an option to work an additional 11 events days over the full year. This is related to WOMAD and our other events. This is revised annually based on the agreed workplan.

Location:Dalston, London (5 Balls Pond Road, N1 4AX)

Contract: Permanent, pending a successful 6-month probationary period

Annual Leave: 25 days (pro rata)

Pension scheme: Action Village India provides access to an auto-enrolment pension plan through the Pensions Trust for all staff who have completed 6 months of satisfactory service with 3% employer contribution.

FUNDRAISING

1.1 Fundraising Management and Donor Liaison:

• In line with Action Village India’s project funding priorities, research and develop fundraising proposals for new and ongoing projects to be submitted to major donors, trusts and foundations as well as other appropriate sources.
• Keep up to date spreadsheets and databases tracking donor deadlines, the status of applications and reporting deadlines.
• Ensure that material from partners for monitoring reports is developed as needed and work to ensure that reports are submitted as required and to agreed deadlines.
• Support the Executive Director with fundraising and reporting to individuals and trusts.

1.2Events

• Plan and manage, in collaboration with the Action Village India team, the events for the year
• Attend Action Village India fundraising events (evenings and weekends as agreed with the team)
• Attend WOMAD festival and support the Action Village India team with the successful running of the Action Village India stall and presence at the festival.

1.3 Individual Giving

• Planning and delivering our regular appeals and engagement communications.
• Develop new ways to engage our supporters’ base and grow income from Individual Giving products.
• Build engaging journeys to retain existing supporters and develop more supporters.

1.4 Communications and Development Management

• Create communications content that inspires supporter engagement and promotes loyalty.
• Contribute relevant material and content to Action Village India newsletters.
• To design and produce communication materials – Annual Report and Appeals
• Supply project information to support appeals to individual donors, and at public events including WOMAD; co-organise the exhibition at WOMAD.
• Work with partners to generate engaging communications and marketing materials about the progress of their work, including visual content.
• Work with partners to generate material on which to base awareness-raising and educational work in the UK, where appropriate.
• Manage the creation of the organisation’s content, for example, leaflets, webpages and annual reports.
• Work closely with the Communications and Administrative Assistant to support the creation of social media content and other customer relationship material, ensuring this feeds directly into the Communications Strategy.
• Support the Executive Director in monitoring and assisting with formal progress reports to funders, and any other work based on the organisation’s requirements.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

EXPERIENCE

• Ideal minimum of three years proven experience in fundraising from trusts and foundations, events and individual giving.
• Proven experience in writing project proposals and reports for funders.
• Proven success in raising funds from trusts and foundations in the UK, working alone or perhaps as part of a larger fundraising team.
• Experience co-organising events and fundraising activities.

KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS

• Knowledge of Trusts and Foundations and institutional fundraisers particularly in the UK.
• Knowledge of the international solidarity and development landscape and/or familiar with funder processes, databases and requirements.
• Knowledge of Charity Law, Data Protection, Fundraising Code of Practice and other relevant marketing or fundraising standards in the UK.
• Ability to produce high quality written project proposals, narrative and financial reports and communications materials for a range of audiences.
• Ability to absorb, filter and re-present information for new audience

PERSONAL QUALITIES

• A passion to support humanitarian activities that benefit the most vulnerable.
• Excellent communication skills: presenting complex information clearly, concisely and persuasively.
• Proficiency in using Excel.
• Ability to stay focused and efficient in the face of changing priorities and multiple demands.
• Ability to self-manage your workload and be suited to working in a very small team, being flexible and able to take initiative.

Who are Women’s Aid?

Women’s Aid is the national charity working to end domestic abuse against women and children. We are a federation of over 170 organisations which provide just under 300 local lifesaving services to women and children across England. Purpose of the Executive Assistant to the CEO role: 

As Executive Assistant to the CEO, the successful candidate will play an integral role in supporting the CEO with the practicalities of achieving Women’s Aid strategic and operational objectives by providing high level confidential administrative, secretarial and diary management, and by delivering high quality, proactive, organisational governance and planning support to our Board of Trustees and subcommittees.The post holder with have line management responsibility of two executive assistants.

 Key duties and responsibilities of the Executive Assistant to the CEO:

• Provide a professional, comprehensive and high-quality executive support to the CEO.
• Play an effective and appropriate role as the primary point of contact for the CEO’s office.
• Support the CEO to manage appointments with her direct reports (x11) and track workstreams and necessary follow-up.
• Provide project administration support and management of discreet pieces of work relating to the executive office, in line with organisational policies.
• To support the CEO and trustees in all aspects of constitutional administration including, but not limited to, arranging and overseeing the Board of Trustees recruitment, induction, appraisal and training; organisation of AGM; Memorandum of Association; Governance Framework; and registration information with Companies House and The Charity Commission, and other associated bodies. 
• Carry out management, supervision, appraisal and development of direct reports as required.

What we are looking for in our Executive Assistant to the CEO:

• Experience of providing a confidential service and operating with discretion at all times and in a fast paced and agile environment
• Ability to effectively digest and summarise complex information, in order to communicate key priorities.
• Excellent time management and organisation skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and to work to deadlines.
• Extensive experience providing executive assistance, secretarial or administrative support to individuals or a team, with experience of a Senior PA role at Board or Trust level.

Spectra has recently created a new team of three fundraisers (including this post holder). We aim to increase levels of engagement, interest and financial support from trusts and foundations, major donors, and individual giving, including increasing the level of unrestricted funding.

The Fundraising Executive role and purpose is to:

• Develop and implement a ‘small trust’ plan. They will deliver compelling and impactful approaches to trusts and foundations for financial support. Responsible for smaller trust funding applications of under 10K per year.
• Develop a new individual giving programme, set and achieve targets, and provide a high standard of stewardship in these areas of work.
• Cross working to support the ‘Major Trusts and Foundations’ Fundraiser and the Fundraising manager as required.

We are looking for a highly motivated self-starter who can develop this area of fundraising practice and actively contribute to the fundraising team’s ambition of growing and diversifying income, unrestricted income and incorporating a whole team approach.

About the role:

The British Museum has built a reputable prospect research function which supports both Advancement and the Museum's wider management. Our research strategically harnesses information and data to drive fundraising decisions. We ensure we have the right tools, skills and networking that supports the Museum with its mission. Our internal service also includes the provision of non-philanthropic research for Trustee Business and other Museum departments.

Our research is regularly audited and designed to adhere to recommendations set out by The National Audit Office, and numerous internal policies and financial controls. As with any function, the processes in place are reviewed regularly to ensure we remain effective and compliant.

This post will focus on providing the Museum with exceptional due diligence reports. It will play a key role in supporting the work of the Advancement Operations Team.

The successful candidate will combine excellent interpersonal skills, exceptional research and prospecting skills, with a high level of accuracy and detail.

Key areas of responsibility:

• To take primary responsibility for Due Diligence for the department, including requests from senior leadership, ensuring the best possible standards are achieved.
• To provide briefing notes for key events (such as dinners) and support with researching prospects and donors for key stakeholders across the Museum.
• To champion use of the CRM database (Raiser's Edge) - taking primary responsibility for improving prospect and donor data, maintaining exceptional accuracy in the Prospect module and Notes tab on the Raiser's Edge database as well as monitor supporter data and ensure that supporters are appropriately canvassed, working with the Database Manager to devise technical solutions.
• To play an active role in ensuring supporter data compliance in accordance to the regulations specified in UK GDPR and The Fundraising Regulator.
• To assist in the training and supervision of new staff and volunteers within Advancement.
• Play an active role in greeting guests at Museum evening and breakfast events as necessary and where necessary attend events outside of general working hours (time off in lieu will be given).

We’re now focusing on support for families awaiting an Autism diagnosis for their child and how people who usually experience barriers to healthcare may be able to more quickly get the support they need. - signposting members of the public to support when they call us and designing and leading community workshops

We are seeking a talented Director of Development (maternity cover), fully committed to our widening participation cause, to join our Senior Leadership Team. Working with the Chief Development Officer, the postholder will coordinate all aspects of the charity’s fundraising function, joining the leadership of a highly successful fundraising team to meet and exceed its ambitious fundraising targets (currently £13m per annum from donations, grants and university partnerships - and projected to rise each year as the charity expands its reach)

The main duties of the role

Working with the Chief Development Officer and Assistant Director of Development to oversee the charity’s fundraising operations, including:

• Leading the day-to-day active oversight and coordination of the charity’s fundraising operations (eg the management of prospect research and prioritisation, managing workflows, solicitation planning, ensuring effective stewardship of supporters, tracking and monitoring funding)
• Along with the Chief Development Officer and other members of the team, leading on fundraising bids, and supporting the fundraising team in their preparation of compelling and high-quality applications
• Supporting the fundraising team in the effective management and prioritisation of its prospect pipelines
• Ensuring effective solicitation planning across the team, from researching potential donors and the development of donor relationships, through to the design and implementation of solicitation and stewardship strategies
• Senior oversight within the fundraising team over the charity’s fundraising from Trusts and Foundations
• Ensuring effective stewardship of supporters is maintained and developed across the team
• Tracking and monitoring of funding, working closely with the finance team and ensuring that accurate records are maintained
• Coordination of the Trustee and Development working group meetings on fundraising, and implementation of agreed actions
• Managing a portfolio of strategic funders including high-net-worth donors, university partners and family foundations
• Taking on a leadership role on targeted fundraising campaigns, in particular in conjunction with university partners for multiple centres
• Working with the data protection team to ensure fundraising activities meet data protection requirements
• Developing and maintaining a donor communications plan
• Coordination of fundraising requests to the Senior Management Team

Bowel Cancer UK is the UK's leading bowel cancer charity. We're determined to save lives and improve the quality of life of everyone affected by bowel cancer. We support and fund targeted research, provide expert information and support to patients and their families, educate the public and professionals about the disease and campaign for early diagnosis and access to best treatment and care.

We currently have around 80 staff based in England, Wales Scotland and Northern Ireland.

There are huge challenges facing bowel cancer patients across the UK, and our community needs us now more than ever. We’re building a strong and united team to bring us closer to a world where nobody dies of bowel cancer.

We are looking for someone dynamic, proactive and passionate about patient support, to be our first Senior Services Officer for Scotland. You will work to develop and deliver a portfolio of support and information services for people in Scotland affected by bowel cancer. In the Services team, we currently have a range of peer support and information services and are constantly innovating, testing and refining our offer to ensure they reach as many people as possible and provide the support they want. This role will be responsible for scaling our existing services in Scotland and adapting them to meet the specific needs of patients and their families across the country. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with our patient community and lead change across the bowel cancer pathway in patient support.

About the role:

The Regional Finance Director will provide the overall leadership and management for all aspects of finance to Ark Schools in the South London region. The role will be focused on ensuring processes are embedded across all schools; supporting schools new to the network (or with new staff structures) with transition as well as leading, with regard to finance, on strategic projects within the schools.

Our ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate:

• Experience in the implementation of financial processes, planning and reporting

Key Responsibilities: 

• To be responsible for all aspects of finance at the academies and developing the in-school finance teams to provide a high-level service to their principals and operations leads

• To be responsible directly to the Schools Finance Director for the strategic financial management in all schools in the region

• To ensure clear and timely management and financial accounts as required for the Regional Director, Principals, Local Governing Bodies, and Ark Central
• To work with the Operations Leads to negotiate, manage and monitor contracts, tenders and agreements for the provision of services to the Academies, to ensure that services are delivered to a high quality and support the operation of the Academies
• To work with the HR Business Partner to oversee all matters relating to payroll, including Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs queries, National Insurance, benefits in lieu of pay (travel loans etc.), Give as You Earn scheme, and to ensure that appropriate controls are in place and robust checks are made in relation to the monthly payroll
• To be responsible for ensuring the region’s processes for pensions management and reporting are in place. This includes monthly and annual returns as well as audit, working with the HR Business Partner and school HR teams, as applicable
• To develop, enable and strategically lead a team of finance staff to deliver the vision for the region against its strategic priorities and timescales
• To arrange or deliver finance training for staff in South London, maintaining an on-going review of need
• To drive forward change and initiatives which promote regularity, propriety, value for money and best standards

• Professional accountancy qualification, including significant post-qualifying experience
