Specialist Support Workers within Look Ahead are required to have either an extra dimension of experience or a higher qualification level as determined relevant for the particular post. Specialist Support Workers provide information, social inclusion and vocational opportunities to support people to recover and stay well; exercise choice and control in their care and lives; and participate on an equal footing in the community. Support is also provided to develop a model of self-advocacy, self-management and empowerment, incorporating the principles and practice of recovery, co-production and peer support.

Oaklands & St Kilda is a pair of 6 unit supported accommodation mental health rehab services working with young people between the ages of 18-25 who may have experienced a mental health related hospital admission to gain and develop skills for future independent living. The service will support individuals transitioning from Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services to Adult services.

The rota will include early shifts (08:00 - 16:00), late shifts (14:00 - 22:00), and weekends.

What you'll do:

Building supportive, trusting relationships with young people and creating a positive atmosphere
Carrying out holistic assessments which incorporate relevant statutory referral information
Conducting regular key work sessions that are innovative and engaging in order to achieve Support Plan goals
Create support plans for providing appropriate services based on on-going assessment and reflecting the services and resources available to support young people in their journey
Ensuring ongoing assessment and management of risks within an attitude of 'positive risk taking
Supporting young people to access relevant services and empower them to self-manage their medication through informed consent and decision making
Undertake support work in partnership with external stakeholders to compliment their interventions
Developing productive relationships with partner organisations to improve service outcomes

Purpose

Kids in Need of Defense UK is a collaboration between four award-winning, UK based not for profits that specialise in children’s immigration and asylum law. We partner with lawyers and law firms across the UK to provide the highest quality legal advice and representation for free to undocumented children and young people. This is a key role for which we’re seeking a suitably qualified and experienced immigration adviser. They will be responsible for providing an excellent frontline service to KIND UK clients, leading on all matters relating to the assessment and triage of new referrals to the service. 

The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.

Responsibilities:

• Assess referrals which have been flagged for legal advice by KIND UK administrators, for merit and suitability for the KIND UK project
• Assess and agree the appropriate level of service, making the initial triaging decision on referrals
• Provide internal legal advice on referrals with legal complexities
• Provide one-off advice to prospective clients via telephone and/or email, where appropriate
• Make onward referrals to other suitable immigration advisers and other services, where appropriate

Personal Specification:

Essential:

• OISC L3 or admitted as a solicitor or barrister in the UK or equivalent right to give immigration advice
• Significant post-qualification experience in child, young person and adult immigration and nationality law
• Broad and confident knowledge of UK immigration and nationality law and policy
• Experienced and confident in making independent and swift decisions on legal issues in immigration and nationality law

Desirable:

Mainly focusing on the management of the HRIS, you will also support HR administration as well as running monthly workforce information reports. Specifically, you will support and maintain the HRIS, provide system training and awareness session for users and create and update position descriptions and employee information. You will also be involved in providing reports on workforce data, whilst also writing and amending existing reports to present data.

As the research lead you will be conducting exciting and innovative research projects and embedding a research culture across our organisation. You will be involved in campaigning for change and thought leadership activities within the borough and beyond.

The Research Coordinator will take forward some of our strategic goals around evidencing the causes of Foodbank use, participation work with those using Foodbank services and influencing work and practice across our Foodbank.
This role will be responsible for conducting primary research covering a range of areas to better understand the lived experience of people experiencing and at risk of food poverty, the causes of food poverty and solutions to ending food poverty and hunger. You will benefit from the established support network of other Trussell Trust Foodbanks conducting similar research programmes. The Research Coordinator will be a key part of our wider stakeholder engagement, using evidence to ensure that H&F Foodbank is a respected evidence centre working towards our goal of ending food poverty.

Employment Details

 Contract type

This contracted post is for 28 hours per week and may very rarely require some out of hours or weekend work as required.  We welcome application for flexible working including reduced hours and other flexible working arrangements.

Location

We support hybrid working to suit our team. When in the office, the post holder will be based at Russia Lane but some travel across east London may be required to meet the needs of the service.

Salary 

Between £31,930 and £35,020 pa pro rata for part time.  Plus 5% employer pension contribution.

We have recently introduced a salary bands system. This salary range refers to the lowest and top steps of the grade. Salary will progress every year until the top salary is reached.

Holiday entitlement

25 days (pro-rata for contracted hours) of paid holiday per year plus bank holidays. This increases after two years of service to 27 days, and then a further one day per every year of service up to a maximum of 30 days after five years of service. In addition, all employees are entitled to one day off on (or around) their Birthday.

We are now looking for looking for an experienced and dynamic Housing Caseworker (Young People) to join our highly successful Advice Casework Service.

The Advice Casework Service provides trauma-informed, intersectional, woman-centred, rights and strengths-based advocacy and advice that supports survivors on their unique journey of healing and growth. The work is delivered through a commitment to an anti-oppressive, feminist framework that strives to address additional barriers and meet the diverse range of survivors needs, understanding the specific support needs of each survivor. We are passionate about social justice and being part of dismantling systems and structures which oppress survivors, and Caseworkers play a key role in identifying current issues affecting survivors in London and opportunities for change.

As a Caseworker you will work with young women (18-30) who have experienced any form of violence against women and girls (VAWG), providing medium and long-term practical, emotional and advocacy support. You will amplify young women’s voices and create a non-judgemental and creative space where survivors are free to be their authentic selves, safely explore their rights, options and impact of their experiences, and make informed choices about their future. You will manage a caseload of young women, as well as lead in delivering our one-off drop-in specialist practical support to sessions to young women as part of the Voice and Choice Project.

The ideal candidate will be experienced in providing specialist advocacy support to young people, have an excellent insight into the needs of survivors of VAWG and to be passionate about delivering creative face-to-face sessions to young people. About the role:

In this role you will be working alongside volunteer advisers, providing holistic advice and support to households in financial crisis and provide advice around income maximisation, managing fuel costs including leading on our Energy Advice Project, benefit take-up, applying for grants to help with costs arising from the cost-of-living crisis, reducing indebtedness and budgeting and money management to help to prevent future financial crisis.

The purpose of this role is to reduce the stigma for low-income households around needing and accessing financial support and give people confidence to seek cheaper alternatives to contract costs around, for example, telephone, tv and broadband.

The project includes support on preparing personal income and expenditure details which can be used by residents themselves when negotiating with debtors on repayment plans.

This work will have a focus on community-based outreach work, working alongside organisations such as foodbanks and community centres. It will aim to prevent future or recurring hardship.
