East London Rape Crisis provides free, confidential specialist support for women and girls who have been raped or experienced any other form of sexual violence or abuse at any time in their lives, regardless of whether or not they have reported to the police. We offer confidential and independent support. Services include advocacy, emotional and practical support, one-to-one counselling and group work.
About the post
The Brief Interim ISVA provides proactive short-term support and advocacy service (up to 3 months) to female survivors of sexual violence who are engaging with the criminal justice system. This role will address a gap in the current sexual violence infrastructure, to ensure that more survivors who require rapid support and advice are able to receive this in a timely manner. You will work as part of a growing Feminist Rape Crisis service that is developing to meet the needs of women and girls. This post involves travel across East London, and a hybrid model of home and office working from our sites in Islington and Dagenham Heathway.
About you
We’re looking for a highly organised and self-motivated woman who is passionate about ending violence against women. You’ll have a ‘can-do’ approach and demonstrable commitment to nia’s feminist approach to supporting women and girls. We particularly welcome applications from Black, Asian and Minoritised women.

The main purpose of the Refuge Support Worker role is to support women and children escaping domestic abuse by providing safe accommodation and support to rebuild their lives through the provision of one to one support, helping them to make informed choices while ensuring they understand their rights.
You must have at least one year’s experience of working with Asian women in a refuge or other formal setting. An understanding of the intersectional complexities and dynamics of domestic abuse and its impact on women from South Asian communities is essential.
You will have demonstrable experience of providing advice and support to Asian women who have experienced domestic abuse, harmful practices and all forms of VAWG (violence against women and girls). You will be experienced at completing risk assessments and support planning. You will have a working knowledge of welfare benefits and housing legislation. An understanding of the issues faced by migrant women with no recourse to public funds is desirable.
It is essential that you are able to speak fluently in at least one South Asian language (Urdu / Punjabi preferred).

The main purpose of this role is support women and children living in the community in Waltham Forest and surrounding boroughs through the provision of one to one advocacy, advice and casework support. You must have a sound knowledge of housing legislation and welfare benefits. The role will require you to run advice surgeries and support groups to a wide range of Asian women across 3 boroughs.

Our service provides independent mental health advocacy to patients within locked secure hospitals and community-based settings where we ensure that patients who are admitted are given a voice to make sure their rights are upheld.
We provide advocacy support for patients with mental health issues and learning disabilities at times when it is important for their wishes and opinions to be heard and their feelings expressed, for instance, representing them during discharge meetings, ward rounds and at multi-disciplinary team meetings.
The primary users of our services are vulnerable adults however some settings do include working with children and young people.
We are looking to recruit a Self-Employed Independent Mental Health Advocate to provide independent and confidential mental health advocacy to qualifying patients and work to agreed outcomes with the patients promoting an understanding of outcomes and options available to them.
You will be expected to work in line with Mental Health Act 1983 code of practice and will be required to produce written reports with the purpose of ensuring the views of the patient is fully represented.

You will be able to subscribe to an e-learning platform provided by NYAS. The platform will provide you with the opportunity to undertake a number of other professional courses that you can complete in your own time to maintain your own CPD. You can do this on the e-learning platform at a significantly reduced cost compared to undertaking each course individually with different providers.

- Provide a high-quality, front-line service to victims of domestic abuse, delivering a premium service prioritised according to risk, primarily focusing on victim/survivors aged 16+

You will need:
- Have a knowledge of help-seeking barriers and support needs of victims of domestic abuse (in heterosexual or same-sex relationships).

- Understand the principles of risk assessment, safety planning and risk management for victims of domestic abuse and their children

Women in Prison is a national, women-led, feminist organisation. We deliver front line support to women harmed by the criminal justice system, through our work in prisons, in the community and ‘through the prison gate’ as they resettle back into their communities. This role will be based in HMP Bronzefield and our South London Womens Hubs, leading the development and delivery of specialist domestic abuse/family & significant other support with women impacted by the criminal justice system.
Key Responsibility Areas
- Lead on developing an effective domestic abuse/family & significant others intervention for women impacted by the criminal justice system
- Develop effective relationships with key stakeholders to ensure a collaborative approach to addressing women’s needs

- Provide effective leadership to direct report/s, ensuring teams are managed and supported.
Duties and key responsibilities
Lead on developing an effective domestic abuse/family & significant others intervention for women impacted by the criminal justice system:
- Lead the Family and Significant Other strand of support to create an intervention that assesses clients’ domestic abuse needs, providing expert advice and support, and developing a support plan to address identified needs.
- Provide trauma-responsive approach, undertaking risk and needs assessments that reflect each individual's situation and support needs.
- Ensure that interventions are responsive to and meet the needs of women from diverse and minoritised communities.
- Accurately document all client interaction on relevant databases, always working in line with Women in Prison’s case management policy, and data protection legislation.
- Support in the collation and production of reports, including ensuring that appropriate recording, monitoring and evaluation of work is completed to set deadlines.
- Completing DASH risk assessments and attending MARAC meetings where appropriate.
To develop effective relationships with key stakeholders to ensure a collaborative approach to addressing women’s needs:
- Work in partnership with key organisations, such as domestic abuse services, children’s services, housing departments, prison based teams, community organisations, to advocate for women’s needs around family and significant others.
- Take a collaborative multi-agency approach to supporting women, including representing and supporting women at multi-agency meetings.
- Contribute to strategic and operational meetings, such as performance review meetings with funders and partners.
To provide expert advice and support to colleagues, including Women in Prison’s influencing team
- Support the wider team to increase knowledge on DA legislation and pathways through providing support and advice, and training to internal colleagues.
- Support Women in Prison’s influencing work through actively contributing expertise into campaigns and ensuring that Women in Prison provides a platform for women’s voices.
- Contribute to development of new approaches and interventions that address underlying contributing factors to women’s offending and criminalisation.
Provide effective leadership to direct report/s, ensuring teams are managed and supported:
- Line manage direct report/s and ensure that all staff receive regular support, supervision and performance review, case management, training and development in line with WIP policies and procedures.
- Support the Link Worker with development of the programme.
- Ensure the Link Worker is linked in with wider South London Women’s Hub teams.

Job Title: Young Person's Advocate

This is an opportunity to join Refuge as a Young People’s Advocate. Suitable candidates must be experienced in advocating in a multi-agency setting to secure positive life outcomes for your clients and to making the service a success.
You will be self-sufficient, assertive and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills combined with empathy and sensitivity to build and develop supportive relationships with young people. You will maintain professional boundaries and adhere fully to Refuge’s safeguarding policies and procedures.
In the role the key responsibilities will be to be methodical and well-organised, with proven experience of providing direct emotional, practical and welfare support, ideally within a relevant field such as a refuge, children’s advice centre or residential setting. With an up-to-date knowledge of relevant civil and criminal legislation, you will have a demonstrable ability to use Microsoft Office and the ability to build and develop supportive relationships with young people affected by domestic violence.A Safe Lives qualification is desirable.
