About this key role
As a proactive member of the multi-disciplinary team, our successful candidate will share best practice with other team members in relation to approaches and strategies to support and engage young people and their families to achieve best outcomes, plus work collaboratively to develop plans of support and promote programmes of social education, activities, support, advice, and information, using a range of multi-sensory methods.
We will count on you to build positive relationships and promote the value of lifestyle changes to the client group and their families and to ensure that the voice of the child and young person remains central to their support and that they are proactively encouraged to build and contribute to their own programmes. You will contribute to multi-disciplinary assessments of children and families in need of support and provide both proactive planned programmes of support and an intensive service which will include interventions to support emotional wellbeing and health and substance misuse; creative arts activities; support responding risks of criminal, gang and/or sexual exploitation; mentoring; and sports activities. Maintaining accurate records of support and interventions is also a key duty.
What we are looking for
- Experience of engaging successfully with challenging people
- Experience in negotiating with partner agencies to establish links to further the aims of the project
- Experience of working to targets and recording information for performance monitoring
- An understanding of the client group and the challenges and motivations of young people
- Sound knowledge of using monitoring systems to record all aspects of the project

We are looking for an empathic, organised and intuitive wellbeing professional to join our student support team in the Department of Design Engineering.
As one of two part-time student wellbeing advisers in the department, your primary work will be to provide direct one-to-one support for our postgraduate and undergraduate students. This might include conversations about mental health, relationships, sexuality, finance, studies, family issues, neurodiversity, disability, accommodation, bereavement, trauma and other topics.
The role also involves liaising with academic colleagues, signposting students to internal & external provisions, and running occasional group wellbeing initiatives. You will be a part of developing the wellbeing provision and supporting in upskilling academic staff around wellbeing and mental health issues.
The role is part time 0.4 FTE (2 days per week) and is a fixed term contract for 2 years. The role requires 60% (or more) in-person work at our South Kensington campus, with the option to work the remainder from home. There are certain weeks of the year such as welcome week, exam weeks, and coursework deadline periods where in-person working on both days is required.
Duties and responsibilities
You will provide:
Wellbeing advice – you will listen, support and advise students on wellbeing issues they present with. The aim is to provide a safe, confidential, collaborative space for students to discuss whatever is on their mind. This might be a single conversation, short term support or more regular, ongoing check-ins depending on the situation. At times you will signpost students to internal/external services and liaise with appropriate staff as needed.
You will also:
· Run group wellbeing initiatives for students
· Liaise with colleagues regarding students who need extra academic support due to wellbeing issues
· Support necessary students to access Imperial’s Disability Advice Service, and ensure their required adjustments are communicated to the education team
· Contribute to the department’s EDI committee
· Complete record-keeping and administrative duties related to the role

Essential requirements

Katherine Low Settlement is a busy, local charity that has been serving Battersea and the wider Wandsworth community since 1924. We are dedicated to building stronger communities and enable people to challenge and find ways out of poverty and isolation.
We run a range of our own community services to support older people and children, young people, and their families from refugee communities. We campaign for social change. We incubate and support other charities and social businesses to thrive. Each week we work with 30+ charities and community groups supporting more than 1,000 people.
Role Purpose
Provide strategic leadership for KLS’ Refugee Family Programme, ensuring that programme direction and delivery is strategically aligned, responds to learning and changes in context, and maximises our impact in the community.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing clear and steady leadership and management to all aspects of our newly formed Refugee Family programme, which has grown out of previous separate projects to better meet the holistic needs of people we support.
- Managing and developing the budget and finances; whilst supporting the fundraising lead to secure its financial viability.
- Directly lead the scoping and planning of the Refugee Family Programme Strategy to:
- Develop and expand existing programmes.
- Identify opportunities to create, innovate and improve projects within the Refugee Family Programme - such as community outreach workshops, advocacy support, Educational Classes, and Groups, Mentoring and Clubs - to meet the needs of the people we support and those who may need our support in the future.
- Undertake regular horizon scanning and environmental analysis to ensure KLS has a full understanding of the potential for growth and programme development associated with the current, future and changing demand and need.
- Build and maintain effective networks and partnerships that will ultimately support people to realise their potential.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

- Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead for the Refugee Family Programme Team, working with Safeguarding Officers and Duty Leads to ensure all safeguarding concerns are managed and recorded appropriately and safeguarding cover is maintained across the team in line with KLS’ procedures.
Skills and Experience
- Extensive leadership and management experience, coupled with a track record of leading the strategic development of services for adults and children (of all ages) from the refugee community that improve their access to education and justice, reduce their isolation and improve their ability to navigate their journey.
- Extensive experience of working with people from vulnerable groups, especially children and young people, ensuring that clients’ needs are at the forefront of service planning and delivery.
- Experience of working with refugee communities.
- Up to date knowledge of the English education system, rights to education, the barriers facing refugee communities in accessing education and how these might be addressed.
- Understanding and experience of safeguarding, and health & safety (including trips and residentials for children and families), in theory and in practice.
- Experience of providing advice and advocacy support to people from vulnerable groups.
- Direct involvement in adopting a strategic approach to either replicating existing or developing new services / programmes in response to anticipated future demand or a change in the landscape.

We are looking to appoint an Internal Communications Officer who will play a critical role in developing and shaping the organisation’s internal communications for the staff of the Connexional Team.

We are looking for three Complex Needs Practitioners (Recovery Worker) to join our team in Aylesbury.
The purpose of the role is to engage people in a variety of interventions, using a person centred approach, empowering them to reduce risk, increase resilience and achieve positive outcomes.
All Complex Needs Practitioners (Recovery Worker) work flexibly across the community and within our multi-agency partnership settings. The caseload will include a mixture of community and multi-agency referral pathways including health and social care. You will join our caring multi-disciplinary teams, to help empower you to provide quality psychosocial interventions to our diverse client groups.
A core part of the role will be working with people to address holistic support needs across all aspects of the person’s substance use and wellbeing. This could include diverse work related to physical and emotional health, meaningful use of time, family and relationships, community engagement and activites, accommodation, physical and emotional health, offending as well as substance use (drug use and / or alcohol use).
An energetic and confident self-starter, you have a qualification in health/social care, youth and community work (e.g. NVQ Level 3 or above, DipSW, Mental Health Nursing, Counselling, Addiction Studies). Alternatively, we’ll consider candidates with experience of working in the substance misuse field with a commitment to complete NVQ Level 3 Health and Social Care. On 1st June 2024 Richmond Fellowship merged with Humankind to form a single organisation that provides the joined-up mental health, housing and drug and alcohol support we’ve all known has been needed for decades. At the same time, Aquarius became a subsidiary of Humankind, with no impact to terms and conditions of employment. In October 2024, Humankind will be renamed to reflect the new organisation, of which Aquarius will remain a subsidiary.
